- TonyStark, on 10/24/2008, -9/+106The difference this year is that the slimey, hidden smears of the past are now out in the open. Hopefully, we can spread the word about this site and shed some light and truth on these underhanded tactics. Obama Biden '08
Remember to get out and vote - vote early if you can. - chrissku, on 10/24/2008, -5/+92MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!
Ask yourself....do I want 4 more years of this *****? - jmorato, on 10/24/2008, -6/+51Voted early!! Woot!
- kathysartcom, on 10/24/2008, -9/+53MCCAIN=BUSH voted with him 90%, will continue tax breaks to the rich, continue to subsidize big oil companies, believes in Regan's Trickle Down, still thinks Iraq War was a good idea so would do it again...End of story
- AlexCross, on 10/24/2008, -3/+46This is the best, most comprehensive debunking by a political candidate I have ever seen. Gee, I guess when you have the truth on your side, you're unstoppable. Go Obama/Biden '08!
- megafan, on 10/24/2008, -8/+47The GOP is saying that Obama is not experienced enough to run the country (to make decisions)....well, after all the muck that the GOP has thrown at them, none has stuck, but Obama is obviously smart enough to know how to repel an attack by those wanting to undermine his strategy (to run an above board campaign) and how to rise above the GOP's attempt to make them get "into the mud fight". That to me is experience.
Obama's ability / nature to remain composed when attacked and that is what world leaders have recognized. For you "doubters", one only needs to review his conversation with Gen. Petraeus to understand how he listened, processed and responded to a 4 star general.
When he listened to "joe", he say directly to an individual, YES, your taxes are going to be higher based on my tax plan....have you ever heard McCain say that to ANYONE....nope.
His ability to take the Robocall information from his adversary and use it against them is just so darn smart, this demonstrates how he can turn an attack into a positive....absolute genius!
Now you can see why he would be willing to meet with "adversarial" governments without pre-conditions - He won't need them as he will be more prepared to use their own information to strengthened his position (sorry Sarah - you need a dictionary again when attempting to undermine Obama. ie there is a difference between being prepared and demanding pre-conditions). - ieee, on 10/24/2008, -3/+40I think this shows the difference between the two candidates. Obama is forward looking enough to anticipate a high tech solution to old fashioned dirty tricks and McCain needs his wife to use a computer for him
- bobhiggins, on 10/24/2008, -8/+44Bloggers: Spread the word about these calls.
Sample here:
http://worldwide-sawdust.com - JenniferInMO, on 10/24/2008, -3/+38Sunshine disinfects! Share this with family and friends. It is a great resource.
- Shiloah, on 10/25/2008, -2/+31Actually, yes, I did exactly that myself. So did several of my family members and friends. Including even the Redneck Woman I'm married to. At first I was properly horrified like all the rest of my friends, co-workers, and church members. Then started to wonder how this Obama guy could possibly be as bad as he was made out to be. I went to Snopes.com and found these pages:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/stance.asp
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/ownwords.asp
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/church.asp

Now understand, please, that I cast my first presidential vote for Richard Nixon in 1972, and voted for only one Democrat in my life. But I was convinced after about five minutes in the above web pages, and I have never looked back. Obama has awakened feelings of hope and idealism in me that I have not felt since JFK died.
God bless America, God bless Barack Obama, and God bless the truth-tellers who took the time to debunk the rumors. - supferrets, on 10/24/2008, -3/+31Fantastic site. I live in northern VA (the "fake" Virginia) so it's nice to know what kinds of misinformation I can expect to hear when I go canvassing for Obama.
- censorshipwreck, on 10/24/2008, -3/+28Counteracting a smear campaign using a website to track misinformation. New? Yes.
- kathysartcom, on 10/24/2008, -8/+31This page still needs to show WHERE to debunk McCain slander: Cut and Paste: www.polfeeds.com/item/New-Obama-Site-Tracks-and-Debunks-McCain-Robocall-Smears
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -5/+26These kinds of online tools have been a first in campaign history and they definitely reflect the talent and organization behind the Obama campaign, but they can only be kept online and maintained because of money. So if you haven't contributed yet, now is primetime to help out with a small donation: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/und ...
- springfels, on 10/24/2008, -3/+21i wish this had a place for other types of attacks...perhaps a 2nd map for actions being taken. for instance phone jamming, office tampering, computer theft, polling issues and then there were someone monitoring this from the campaign. i am recalling all that i saw working at a florida kerry office in the last election...it would have been great to have media on top of these things as they happened because after the fact they never got coverage.
- financedude2, on 10/25/2008, -4/+20This man is simply incredible. The way his campaign has tapped into grassroots activism and utilizing the internet is nothing short of amazing.
- wackattack, on 10/24/2008, -5/+21I don't really get why people not just sue McCain for being spammed.
- p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/25/2008, -4/+20Here's the proverbial death certificate to the McCainiac birth certificate conspiracy obsession: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_th ...
Obama Supporters: ASSUME Obama is going to lose and GO OUT AND VOTE EARLY. The polls on the 4th are going to be jammed and chaotic.
Why Vote? So we can SHUT these fools up and set our country back on the right course.
VOTE Obama '08 - GregFD3S, on 10/25/2008, -3/+17This is the type of technical innovation McCain lacks.
- applepro, on 10/25/2008, -3/+17No hiding now McCain. I just hope the world knows how slimey you are.
- samimnot, on 10/25/2008, -3/+17-Sen. McCain in 2000, commenting on the Smear Campaign GWB / Rove ran against him "There is a special place in hell for these people"
-Sen. McCain in 2008, hires these same people to do it to Sen. Obama - JenniferInMO, on 10/24/2008, -3/+16It exists because it works. But the more it is exposed for what it is, the more informed people are and the less effective it is. I think robocalls will be used in the future, but they will be more targeted at people in rural areas and other demographic categories of people who might get their news from a few minutes in front of Fox or from hate radio.
Sunshine disinfects! - algaeturd, on 10/25/2008, -3/+16I've heard from family that they have learned the truth and switched up their opinions. It DOES work. There are a few people out there who will hate him simply because he is black. Those people won't change. The ones who are truly concerned about the issues will take the time to understand them. The problem is that many republicans care nothing of facts and figures. Undecideds...those with edcuations, will take the time to look through material that will teach them the facts.
And Obama's websites that battle the smears have been an invaluable tool for me to send to people I know who are on the fence. - col381, on 10/25/2008, -4/+16McCain uses lies and misinformation to attack his opponent, Obama simply states the truth.
If you need anything else to help you decide, consider which of these people is most likely to be truthful and honest as a president, and there is your answer of who to vote for this election. - JenniferInMO, on 10/24/2008, -2/+13It's not illegal, unfortunately. I am against phone calls because I think it forces someone else's free speech into my home on the phone line that I pay for, but as bad as the other things are we can't infringe on Free Speech because we don't like something. Truth and information is the best defense. If the truth is available to all eventually the politicians will realize that lies won't go very far and they will at least tone it down.
- cloudberries, on 10/25/2008, -3/+12Surely, to anyone considering voting McCain, a bit of logical thought should lead you to consider what good would come of a presidency that sees nothing wrong with stooping to such depths to win at any cost.
Well, that is if you can muster up any of that logical thought. - nick1971, on 10/25/2008, -1/+9Out of interest who listens to these calls. I work a lot from home and when and automated message rings me it takes me about 5 secs to hang up. Are they really so effective?
- TunaFishGangsta, on 10/25/2008, -4/+11It's still a tough decision though... I mean he is a muslim who is not really American, and who was born in Hawaii which is not a state, it's a country near Iraq.
/s - Dreamzville, on 10/25/2008, -0/+7Jeez, I know the feeling. It's not likely though...but in the case of some weird event like that, they will need ALL of us to keep "fighting the good fight"! I won't give up! NEVER!!!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2008! - BotchaMcCoola, on 10/25/2008, -3/+10I got one of these calls purported to be from Rudi Guiliani. It was saying some wild BS about Obama. How about we shut these ridiculous lies down by using slander laws?
- algaeturd, on 10/25/2008, -4/+11To the front page with this...everyone needs to know that the site exists so they can send it to friends and family. What Obama's campaign has done is brilliant...anticipate the lies of the right and head them off at the pass with this interactive map.
One way to beat the hypocritical right...anticipate and understand them. If you know they're going to get dirty, you know what you have to do to battle it. - Neiby, on 10/25/2008, -2/+9Sort of off-topic, but no matter what you think of his politics, you have to admit that Obama has one of the best websites ever. Seriously. The graphics, layout, fonts, functionality, ease of navigation, etc. are all superb. It's hard for me to think of a better website of its kind.
- springfels, on 10/24/2008, -2/+8i was too slow in editing my comment above....here is the rest of my comment...
FINAL PUSH :
btw, it takes a lot of resources in this last week...thousands of lawyers are flying in, poll workers and canvassers, field officers for an astounding number of offices, logistics and transportation people. this all takes manpower and money...so don't think it's over and keep sending money and volunteering. going to an office in the next week? bring a case of sealed easy grab food or supplies they may need (for some reason our office in florida was chronically out of toilet paper!). if you have given the max amount to obama, give to moveon as they are a big help on election day. - Atrius, on 10/25/2008, -1/+7http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_th ...
- RoyalHustla21, on 10/25/2008, -4/+10good for Obama... hitting back at McCain's robocalls with FACTS!!!
- Dreamzville, on 10/25/2008, -1/+7You *****' ROCK, Shiloah!!!!
And by the way, I had some "well-meaning" friends send me some of the same crappy e-mails and Snopes opened up the same world of truth for me. For that, I will be forever grateful. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 10/25/2008, -1/+7Thank you for keeping an open mind sir.
- UniversalGuy, on 10/25/2008, -3/+8Two things you can do RIGHT NOW to help Obama.
Digg this and vote for him on Nov 4th! :D - zenbud, on 10/25/2008, -2/+7The Truth About Barack’s Birth Certificate
Smears claiming Barack Obama doesn’t have a birth certificate aren’t actually about that piece of paper — they’re about manipulating people into thinking Barack is not an American citizen.
The truth is, Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America.
Next time someone talks about Barack’s birth certificate, make sure they see this page. http://fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertific ...
Top secret security clearance my ass.
Go here next and see what REAL Veterans think of the honorable Senator Obama: http://vetsforobama.org/
Be careful, your desperation is showing. - heystoopid, on 10/25/2008, -3/+8Remember there are over another billion plus rooting for Obama outside the country .
For all US voters please consider very carefully all options and take care in doing the right thing for it is the right thing to do . - rushjaycarr, on 10/25/2008, -2/+7If a website has a candidates name in the address, then I don't trust it when it starts talking about politics.
- willfe, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5They're a bit like spam -- most people ignore them or hang up on them, but they work just well enough to be worth the money. The number of people these robocalls sway is non-zero. Just barely above zero, but still, they'll take whatever votes they can get in this election.
- meinhoonna, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5Have you voted yet? Please vote tomorrow if you have not done so - most polling places are open early and stay open late. Go vote tomorrow.
- someguy92, on 10/25/2008, -1/+6"Obama=Wright=Ayers=Terrorist=Osama.................."
- You obviously don't have any facts to back this up.
"So stupid to see these McCain=Bush comments. "
- Because it's true that his policy is very similar to that of Bush and that he really did vote with Bush 90% of the time?
"Obama voted party line 97% of the time."
- What exactly is wrong with voting with the democratic party? We know Bush's republican policy clearly hasn't done much good in the last 8 years. So, why not try something different? - questro, on 10/25/2008, -3/+7I absolutely love this response to the robocalls and mailers. Barack's campain is spectactular at showing how a transparent open and honest campain is run! I love that the website is posting the actual robocalls. I believe that this sheds light on the ugliness of the robocall methods. Many people like myself hate these calls and wish they would stop. This method of exposing the behavior of the McCain campaign is nothing short of brilliant! Robocalls used to be hidden from view to the voting public. We all knew they existed and some of us received them but this method of exposure has now removed the ability of a campaign to use them without others knowing the content and extent of the ugliness. Brilliant!
- Niallgriff, on 10/25/2008, -4/+8This looks like it's really going to happen. Let nothing stop you from voting.
- DavidTrom, on 10/25/2008, -0/+4unfortunately, the people likely to believe the smear are not the ones likely to go on line and find this site, and the RNC knows that.
I think the DNC should hire the same firms that get hire out to do the robocall to make anitsmears robocall.
I'm assuming that this firms are in it for the money they will be happy to get a new costumer - Shiloah, on 10/26/2008, -0/+4basicben, I am pro-life. The GOP isn't, regardless of what they say. If you think the GOP is going to ban abortion, you are living in a dream world. Maintaining legal abortion and harvesting your single issue votes time and time again has served the GOP for decades, and that's exactly what they are going to continue doing. It is better to vote for someone whose economic and social policies have been proven to actually reduce the number of abortions, than it is to throw your vote away on yet another Republican phony who will talk pro-life 'til the end of time and do NOTHING.
- FairNUnBalanced, on 10/25/2008, -1/+5Yeah, you know a lot of things about African Americans in Texas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Byrd_Jr.
Thank God your electoral votes are irrelevant. - inactive, on 10/25/2008, -4/+8If McCain wins, I'm gonna ***** kill myself.
