New NSA Whistleblower Speaks
opednews.com — A former member of U.S. military intelligence has decided to reveal what she knows about warrantless spying on Americans and about the fixing of intelligence in the leadup to the invasion of Iraq. She says she was given an orally communicated waiver to spy on US, Canadian, French, German, Australian, and British citizens without probable cause.

So was I. See how utterly useless this is in court, it will be easily discarded without real evidence.
"This waiver was communicated to Kinne and her colleagues orally, and she assumed that it had come from the President or someone very high up."
Well she admitted a crime and the President surely won't say he gave those orders so she will be arrested and guilty of Treason at the worst. Watch.- kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Its not a crime if you believe you are acting under lawful constitutional authority.
- obliviousfool, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5We know these guys have made an art of not keeping records of orders, but this news may encourage others to come forward.

It's mind boggling what they've done to her.

- poontangpirate, on 10/11/2007, -6/+7She'll never be seen again after the government sees this...
- Egoist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Right, she'll disappear just like all of the other whistle blowers that the government has secreted away...
Oh wait, those are just your paranoid delusions.- neonsky99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Right, well there was a digg post, awhile back about a journalist in the States dying a "accidental death" from jumping off a balcony ledge. He was vocal and criticized Bush and the administration.
Further, 2 telco technicians in Italy died mysterious deaths before they were to testify for snatch-and-grab CIA pulled with 25 agents. Fortunately, they released information to proper Italian authorities prior to their deaths, however justice will be served remains to be seen.
So maybe it's not all delusions, there is some truth to it, if someone wants you 6 feet under they will accomplish it... looks at the asinine mockery of habeus corpus, thank god I don't live in the States.

- worldinmyeyes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21From the article:
"Many of the people, including Americans, whom Kinne spied on were journalists. These included journalists staying at a hotel in Baghdad that later showed up on a list of targets."
People need to wake up and realize the type of money our government spends in order to "manage" opinions of journalists, TV reporters, and other opinion leaders. It shows you the depth of paranoia and raises the question of what else they have to hide. And anyone is naive to think that our government doesn't PAY to have people put their spin all over the Internet, including Digg with the amount of COINTELPRO spooks here. - Protean1, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14why does the NSA hate America?
...probably on the list :(- GuitarWizard, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You and half of Digg who leaves comments that indicate your/their/our ability to concoct rational thoughts without having to resort to juvenile tactics such as trolling, spamming, SHOUTING, msisplelngi, and who most importantly can relay without using bias, hatred, or any malice or underlying catalyst for the sake of simply heating up our readers' blood -- our point.

- TexMurphy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16So sad to see my country spy on it own people with out cause. So sad to see my government use the same tactics the USSR used on there people.

- DestroyFascism, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4So the American Government (CIA FBI NSA) Does not mind if we spy on them then? Well you can't have it one way now can you!
- obeythefist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The more we let them get away with, the more they try to get away with. See: http://www.bloggernews.net/18108

you know why? :-) - Kugo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2This isn't lame but why is it news? Next you know someone will post here W has an IQ of 0. And they'll think that's news.
- djlosch, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1and every single day there are 47329843982 articles bashing bush, and people constantly threaten impeachment but it seriously won't happen, because this is just a vocal minority. due to the polarization, the republicans get the christian vote and the upper middle class (and above) vote. all they need is 51%. the internet's vocal minority has nothing to do with the majority of america. as much as i dislike bush, this is just constant incessant whinery that will change nothing.

- Blairisloser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5America was lost when Kennedy got hit - maybe even before that.
- EuroMarkus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Isn't this exactly what the newly released CIA Family Jewels info was all about?!
I think many people wouldn't mind warrantless wiretaps if the spys actually followed some ethical standards. But human nature is to go beyond the line...
Soon the spys aren't just listening to terrorists, they're listening to political party campaign headquarters, girls that were mean to the spys in highschool, guy checking out cheating wife, former Beatle who get their pictures taken with their wife in a bed-in.
People who oppose warrantless taps aren't "hiding anything', they can look to history that these well-meaning acts usually degrade into unethical acts -- the CIA papers reveal this.
Do we have to wait another 30yrs to see more papers released saying that there current taps were just as wrong? aren't l - bubbajosh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I find it funny that our "government" is supposed to have a system of "checks and balances", when the executive branch is clearly in breach of this "Constitutional amendment"...God, what a "nation"!

- jheathupton, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0I don't think I've ever seen more lemmings together in one place as I see here on digg... The nsa doesn't care about you talking to your grandmother or you in general! People act like they are so important and worth being spied on or something. It would be funny if it weren't so sad! The NSA doesn't care about you!!! unless you happen to be the bad guy... there are far too many terrorists to keep up with. If you want to start changing this kind of crap though, vote for a candidate who will reduce federal government. Our tax rate could be cut in half if it weren't for all the unnecessary spending by both parties.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't care if its the Pope on the other line, if someone places a call to suspected terrorist, then that's all the probably cause necessary to listen to the conversation. I don't care if there are judges standing by 24/7 to hand out warrants like candy, its an extra step that should be a no brainer.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2For anyone who doesn't understand why domestic spying IS A BAD THING.
Herbert Hoover used domestic spying to control the FBI and be the defacto controller of our government for years. Under the cover of his "war on Communism", Hoover got dirt on people so that he could extort them for support.
What happens if you know a Senator has been fooling around with underage kids? Why you promote him. Then he is on the hook and "loyal" forever.
Why would the government spy on you? Well, no big deal unless you become an effective opposition to them.
This is pretty much what we've worried about -- and so our worst fears are once again, proven true when it comes to BushCo.
Oh, excuse me for "Bush bashing" to all the sensitive Anti-American fascists on this Blog who still support heir President.- InfernalMachine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Umm. J Edgar Hoover. Herbert was a president.
- AlaskaJack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Am I the only one who noticed:
A: "New NSA whistleblower speaks." Uh, no. The "whistleblower" doesn't -- and didn't -- work for the NSA.
B: "about the fixing of intelligence in the leadup to the invasion of Iraq." Uh, no. Nothing in the article references the "fixing" of intelligence.
I don't get it. This happens all the time on Digg. What do submitters thing they will gain by submitting misleading and/or downright false headlines and summaries? Or are they just idiots? Beagle17, I'm talking to you.
