New Mexico accused of violating 'free exercise' of religion
worldnetdaily.com — The state of New Mexico is being accused of violating the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of "free exercise" of religion because of a ruling that a Christian husband-and-wife photography team must pay a $6,600 penalty for refusing to shoot pictures at a same-sex "commitment" ceremony.

Okay, so if the photographers weren't interested in the job, they weren't interested. Why push the envelope and demand that they do it? Taking them to court isn't going to change their opinion, it's just going to reinforce their viewpoint. So, the plantiff may win the legal battle and walk away with $6,000, and may cripple or kill the business. All the couple proved was that they were bullies.- Salesti, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Not only that, but folks who never heard of these photogs will now beat a path to their door -- to do business.
- 10QGZus, on 07/04/2008, -1/+17Amen. This is a privately own business. If they don't want to cover homosexual weddings, they shouldn't have to.
- scubajack, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1there is no such thing as a homosexual wedding. it does not exist, no matter how many ***** want it to be true, it isn't. it is an oxymoron, emphasis on the moron. a contradiction in terms.

Bullies, No....Militant Lesbians,,,YES
I absolutely agree with the photogs, if it is something they do not like, or approve of, it is their decision whether or not to take the pix. I am glad that they are not abandoning their principles for a dollar. For an extreme example, if someone wants them to take suggestive pictures of a verrrry young girl, they should be forced to do so?
Good thing for the Alliance Defense Fund. They can put some weighty clout and resources on target. We need more instances where states are put to task for the decisions that they make.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record:
Remember folks, email, snail mail, phone your local and state reps and senators and let them know how you feel, and that they are there to represent the feelings of their constituents and that elections are coming up and they can be replaced. Too many politicians have a superiority complex and answer to no one.... - nippinawassee, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7Why push the envelope and demand that they do it? "
This will probably be their 15 seconds of fame/attention and of course, they'll cobble together a book on their experience and of course, some filmmaker will make a movie of it, and of course, they'll end up broke because it takes a lot of $$$ to remain in the spotlight.
"We're booked through to (say 6 months) - if you call back later and make an appointment for then, we may be able to do it." Make it far enough out that it's useless. Also, it wouldn't make the news... IF you can call this news. - Savage24, on 07/04/2008, -0/+10The words from The Declaration of Independence , Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness, just don't seem to mean much in today's society. Lawyers, judges, and politicians haven't got a clue of what this country was founded upon. I think even
God is starting to give up on us.- USNavyBlue, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1No, God is not starting to give up on us. I think people have given up on him, not all by any means. However, we as a nation will suffer the ill consequences together.
Remember: Where there is liberty there is the lord. (Corinthians) Not the exact quote but you get the idea.
I personally think that our liberty is being eroded ever so quickly because this nation as a whole has been disobeying the Lord.
Take a look at California. The state overruled the majority that voted against ***** marriage. The Supreme Court stepped in and over ruled them. Now the state is experiencing unusual lighting strikes and wildfires a week after the ruling. I saw an areal view of the state of CA on TV the other day and it showed the entire state burning at its borders!

- Stevanoski, on 07/04/2008, -0/+10That'll teach Christian to tell the truth when they could have just lied and said they were booked that day. Those dang Christians being all moral and everything.
- kemojr, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3I would have thought that the Constitution should protect "freedom of conscience". These "folks" could have gotten another photographer. Instead they acted like little snits and decided to try to force the defendants to go against what they believe to be right. It is time to take our country back and and save our culture from degradation.
- DrReaper, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Everyone posting in this thread are all under the impression America is a free country. It's a totalitarian corporatocracy, run by trial lawyers. We lost the country to bankers at the turn of the 19th century. If you think your free from the government try not paying taxes. The essence of liberty is freedom from government. Not being a slave to government.
This case should have been dismissed as soon as it was filed as the complete farce it is. - SOLGAARD, on 07/06/2008, -1/+2@ DrReaper-
Wish i could speak for more people, but this is just me...
When words fly-from my pie-hole, it is sorely expected that people percieve- that, (they too) should ACT LIKE IT.
God isn't my "co-pilot"-
The LIVING GOD drives my truck, (and i advocate this desire everytime i post).
-(at 48-0, it would be false to advocate ANYTHING else)-- DrReaper, on 07/06/2008, -1/+2Keep up the good fight!
