- PaulMorel, on 09/06/2008, -11/+306So today she's not ready to face the press, but we're supposed to believe that in 57 days she'll be ready to lead the free world? Right.
Anyone who votes for John McCain thinks that voting for 'their team' is more important than doing what is best for the country. - johnnr2, on 09/06/2008, -12/+235"Harris is conceding that Palin's not even ready to be a vice presidential candidate, let alone be president." - what more is there to say?
- ChessPieceFace, on 09/06/2008, -7/+175O.K., this has truly gone from the sublime to the ridiculous.
- xine13, on 09/06/2008, -7/+142Will there still be a Palin/Biden debate or are they just going to hide her away forever? I think the repubs need a full time VP, not a pretty red bow on the repackaged same ole repub platform. Nothing's changed.
- MindyB, on 09/06/2008, -9/+135In reality, after people get over their initial crush on her, she is really of insignificant. I think the McCain campaign folks are beginning to realize not only that this was a huge mistake because crushes like these without substance don't usually last even 2 weeks let alone two months! I also think that they really blew it with their "executive experience" rationalization on why she is the "perfect" VP candidate.
Lets review: Bush and Palin's background have a great deal in common!
1. Neither Bush nor Palin have any formal education or training in the Law or our Constitution (well neither does McCain for that matter!)
2. Bush has a degree in business; Palin has a degree in journalism; McCain who knows--he graduated 4th from the Bottom of his Naval Academy.
3. Bush had "executive experience" as the president of a failed oil company and as governor of Texas
Palin has comparable "executive experience" as former mayor of a small town (in which she left with a 23 million dollar deficit) and a 20 month governor of a state with a population equal to that of Memphis, TN.
Now, how did Bush's "executive experience" do for him as President? Well, he has been named by historians everywhere as the WORSE PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY.
Can America afford to have someone who is a heart beat away from the Presidency with comparable "executive experience" as our worse president?
Lets just forget about her and work to make sure Obama/Biden are the next occupants of the White House. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -10/+93Palin as President would make George W. Bush look like George Washington. That the GOP is seriously putting her up as the VP would be amusing if it weren't so frightening. They've made a complete mockery of the office of President.
- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -6/+82She's probably just decompressing after her "hard day at the office"... Elections are "hard", you know...
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -15/+87Yeah she is not ready to be the Vice President, and she is certainly not ready to become President of the United States, ever!
***** anyone who tries and tell you otherwise. Those people hate our country. - YokohamaGaijin, on 09/06/2008, -5/+76They botched her roll out to the public (Sarah who?!?). They botched the narrative and have been stuck in a perpetual spin situation since ("really, its a PERSONAL matter"). The sheer amount of crap -- true or not -- dug up in less than a week is going to take a lot of clean up and I don't think Palin will be able to have a substantive conversation even if they did put her in front of the media.
I'm putting the odds at 2:1 that she will withdraw for 'family' reasons in less than 3 weeks. - Elranzer, on 09/06/2008, -4/+59QuadZeroRoute: "I don't have anything that could back up Palin here. So here's some unrelated GOP propaganda piece about Michelle Obama, Rev. Wright or someone else completely unrelated."
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -6/+57oh, now they decide to tell the truth - what gives?
- KbuPlatinum, on 09/06/2008, -2/+52I guess she is following the current vice president's lead. We are not fit to ask him questions either.
- AmericanElitist, on 09/06/2008, -5/+54Todd Harris, a GOP strategist who is close to the McCain campaign, says Palin won't be available to the press for about two weeks. His defense? She might make "a mistake."
- davemartin7777, on 09/06/2008, -4/+52It's seem that with the election(s) of President Bush, for the Republicans, the bar is going lower and lower as to whom is electable as President.
One red-meat speech, (ghostwritten by a Bush speechwriter), and God forbid something happens to McCain, Gov. Palin is ready to be Commander in Chief from day one... right?
But ask her serious questions?
Oh, that's going to take two weeks.
WTF is going on in this country?
Personally, I think it's creeping American fascism, IMHO. - kingofinternet, on 09/06/2008, -2/+48LOVE THESE BULLETPOINTS!
► You're a *****.
► You're brainless.
► Your side is going to lose. - BabushkaBlue, on 09/06/2008, -6/+50I bet the GOP is terrified of Sarah Palin at this point. What are they going to do with her? They can't keep her away from the public forever. The woman lies habitually and that mean ol' press is going to call her on it.
- spookyttws, on 09/06/2008, -5/+42Holy Crap! The GOP is telling us the truth for once.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -2/+37Not ready?! but... but she said "Yup, yup" !!
- littlequeenie, on 09/06/2008, -7/+42Not available for TWO WEEKS??? They must really think we are STUPID (since Bush became president twice!!!).
I was furious she was being sheltered from the press for this weekend - but TWO WEEKS!!
Contact the media. Make sure this goes out. Tell the media that whenever they play a clip of her LYING (as in she was against the bridge, Obama has not authored any legislation, she is for supporting special needs, etc, etc), they should call her on it. Since she will not do interviews, the media MUST do their job!
Rachel Maddow pointed out the outright LIES in her acceptance speech last night. The rest of the media MUST do this! - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -6/+40It is obvious to us that Palin is a fraud. I just read that her first child was born less than 8 months after she got married, but, being one who speaks to God, she did not need to come clean and explain why she and Todd (“first dude!”) eloped. It is said that the apple does not fall far from the tree for a good reason. She has misrepresented nearly every aspect of her record but if you lie for God it is ok. Jesus preached tolerance but we know she is anything but.
Despite all of these truths, this mad-woman may actually be president prior to 2012. She could tip the balance in those few states where we need the electoral votes. And why? Paul Krugman posted an editorial that hits the point. This election is not about a comparison of policies and it is certainly not about programmatic details. It is about the irrational, emotional anger of those who feel like the world always looks down at them. Everyday, the Republicans are fanning these flames with their rhetoric – elitism, uppity, small town people, hard-working, just a hockey mom, etc., etc., etc.
Palin was obviously not a good student by any measure of that term. She even came in second for Miss Alaska, a state with less than 1 million; that had to affect her psyche. Cutting to the point, it is very easy to see her as “resentful” of all those who were ahead of her in the intellect line. But Sarah knew she had something many of the “intellects” did not. Her weapon is her disengaging presence – though she does like guns – and she knows how to use it very well. Sarah Palin is Columbine with a pretty face.
Most liberals want to believe that we live in a meritocracy. My immigrant parents made sure I got a good education because they said “it is the key to success in “America.” Unfortunately, in this century, we do not actually live in a meritocracy but in some Andy Warhol-like nightmare where the inmates run the asylum.
My apologies for generalizing but I have often found that people who are not confident of their brain-power have very little tolerance for any challenge to their mindset. When Palin took office, she required all government workers to sign an oath of allegiance and fired anyone who she thought was not supportive. I ask, what country did this happen in? When I grew up, we thought behavior like this happened only in RED China or Communist Russia. When I grew up, we thought fascism was something my father fought against in WWII.
But this behavior of hers is very consistent with the “resentment class.” It is their turn to be at the top and by golly they are not going to let any of those smart-asses tell them what to do. This is Palin in spades. - MediaWeasel, on 09/06/2008, -8/+38This is truly insane. She's dug up out of the backwoods where the population of the entire state is less than that of a medium-sized town, gives a pre-prepared speech, doesn't give interviews, hides from the press, and yet she believes she'll be suitable as VP.
Who are all these people who think she's going to be a great VP and possible President when McCain croaks? What's going on? Have the Republicans finally decided to make a complete mockery of American politics? - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -9/+39OIL WAR OIL WAR OIL WAR OIL WAR!!!!!!!!!!!
LET'S GIVE UP ALL OUR FREEDOM AND RESOURCES FOR A POINTLESS OIL WAR!!!!!!! YAY!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! - djholybolt, on 09/06/2008, -2/+31bingo
- bicyclethief, on 09/06/2008, -0/+28I don't understand people like QuadZeroRoute.
At what point does he stop and digest news like this and understand its implications instead of insta-defend the party? - Elranzer, on 09/06/2008, -3/+31Yeah. I never understood why Republicans hate America.
- writer512, on 09/06/2008, -0/+27Now, now, you can't tell a book by it's cover. She probably just needs the couple of weeks to figure out "just what it is a Vice President does..." and why it is that Senator McCain chose her to do it.
- SimmaDownNow, on 09/06/2008, -1/+26@MindyB
I would mostly agree with everything you have highlighted, but keep this one fact close, Karl Rove has just a High School education and he is, without a doubt, the shrewdest political operative in American Politics. Were McCain to announce that he is now turning his Campaign over to Karl Rove, all us Obama supporters, and I am one of them, check my historical comments, would start ***** bricks. The GOP don't care about no fancy degrees, if anything, to them, that is a knock against you.
The more Palin seems to be "like them" the more they will rally around her. - zanvann, on 09/06/2008, -2/+27WHAT THE ***** ***** IS UP WITH AMERICAN POLITICS?
Jesus. - chrissku, on 09/06/2008, -4/+28The McCain/Palin ticket seriously looks more ridiculous by the day. If they get elected it would truly be a testament to the stupidity of the average voter. I'll hang my head in shame for 4 years.
- quittintime, on 09/06/2008, -4/+28to paraphrase our good friend rudy giuliani from this past weeks rnc:
tough questions require straight answers, and this is no time for on the job training - dinot, on 09/06/2008, -4/+27► Maybe the Democrats are a little bit nervous since Sarah Palin is a heartbeat away from leading the most powerful nation in the world considering her time with "executive experience" is less than half of what it takes to earn a bachelor's degree.
► Maybe the Democrats are a little bit nervous since Sarah Palin is being used by John McCain to win the White House. Say he does win, ask yourself this: "Then what?". What is their plan? Instead of hating on the other guy, maybe you should extol all the great ideas that make you want to vote for these two.
► Maybe the Democrats are a little bit nervous since Sarah Palin doesn't wants to teach creationism in school, and doesn't believe global warming is real, and she'll do nothing during her time to address actual issues facing this nation, but instead impose theocratic ideals into our democracy. - christopheles, on 09/06/2008, -2/+25What is this Obammy ***** I keep seeing on digg. Is it supposed to sound like Mammy?
- peep, on 09/06/2008, -5/+26They need time to get their stories straight? How big must the blinders be for voters to remain in lock step with this party?
- TheWriteGuy, on 09/06/2008, -6/+27It's like a weird Jedi mind trick the GOP is now resorting to: Palin is not ready nor experienced enough, but neither is Obama -- vote McCain! WTF.
- TheSiren, on 09/06/2008, -1/+20But seriously folks. 9-11.
- ChessPieceFace, on 09/06/2008, -1/+19When the McCain Camp said she was ready for the second highest office in the land. That she is ready to take on the mantle of leadership of this country.

And now of course the same individuals are saying that she is not even ready to meet the press. - BradHAWK, on 09/06/2008, -1/+19When was it sublime?
- deleo, on 09/06/2008, -2/+19What's really crazy is that today 44% of the people in this country would still gladly vote for her.
- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+16HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO CUT AND PASTE THIS SAME POST?
- elxkid, on 09/06/2008, -4/+20"When they say "ready" what they mean is "we haven't finished programming her yet."
-not my comment but very good nonetheless... - peticsu, on 09/06/2008, -4/+20maybe they can get Lieberman to whisper in her ear when she says something stupid...
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+15Gov. Sarah Palin is a neophyte on foreign policy who will be trained by neocons on what to say, think and do, and Palin will quickly comply. This is the fantasy of her Republican masters, to have an empty headed politician they can completely control be elected to national office, e.g., President Bush. If you want a puppet on a string controlled by warmongering neocons, vote for Palin, if you want real understanding of foreign policy, vote for Senators Obama and Binden.
- Lurr, on 09/06/2008, -1/+16It seems to me that only americans use the phrase "lead the free world"
America is not the leader, just the one with most guns. - kingofinternet, on 09/06/2008, -3/+18it's not broken, it's working just like it should.
it's mccain's vetting process that was broken. palin's brought a ***** upon his campaign, and diggers are eating it up. - ClosedCaption, on 09/06/2008, -2/+16Todd Harris, a GOP strategist who is close to the McCain campaign, says Palin won't be available to the press for about two weeks. Thats totally legit considering they send new soldiers to Iraq after the same length of "training"
- jlee2081, on 09/06/2008, -2/+16Not much "spin" here
- muckraker62, on 09/06/2008, -4/+18Well, at least this is focusing on a real issue, not some conspiracy theory about her personal life. But seriously, two weeks is *****. If you're gonna be the second most powerful person in the world, you can't be hiding in a dark room away from the media. Step up and take your licks like everyone else who wants the position.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -5/+18When the MSM adoration for Ms. Palin wears off and the American voters wake up to what they are being sold, the whole story will change! The woman does not have a single qualification to be a VP, let alone president. When will the MSM began to dissect all those lies she spewed out at the convention? Seems like they are just “accepting” that as some sort of warped norm!
