- obilon, on 02/13/2008, -1/+24This should be number one on a site like this.
- island, on 02/13/2008, -1/+16Everyone that I know with a computer will be getting an e-mail from me today about this.
- dchakrab, on 02/13/2008, -1/+16Definitely a crucial moment in protecting our rights from giant telecom monopolies.
- scottrbarnes, on 02/13/2008, -1/+14What better place than here, what better time than now?
If we don't establish net neutrality, the telecoms will fix things in their favor, which means less choice for the consumer and less innovation from small entrepreneurs. - toddbink, on 02/13/2008, -1/+14Send this to everyone you can. I'm sure there's no explanation needed for the importance of Net Neutrality
- Wolfanoz, on 02/13/2008, -1/+11Seriously, Get this out and frequently. Everyone needs to stand some ground against a government that definitely isn't for the people, rather for themselves.
- thewalk, on 02/13/2008, -1/+9The free flow of information has been stifled by the unprecedented consolidation of media outlets over the last few years. If they get the Internet too, we will be doomed to live like FOXNews addicts. Please take this seriously.
- stormlifter, on 02/13/2008, -1/+9Lets push this! Put it on your social networking websites if you use them, don't spam people though, make it a personal request.
- hugeposuer, on 02/14/2008, -0/+7Lulz, Ron Paul is my congressman.
- tonystai, on 02/13/2008, -0/+7Stop the greedy corporate monopolies from trying to capture more of your money.
- amenic, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Digg digg digg! Spread this baby around this is a hugely important issue!
- InfamousAtheist, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Sadly, everyone I know who works outside of the technology industry is clueless about net neutrality. I'm talking mostly about people like my Mom, my Grandparents, even my Sister and her husband. They don't pay much attention to this kind of news, and if they do they don't take time to learn about it.
I've taken it upon myself to educate those I know who need it. Everyone else here should do the same. Help this issue get the momentum it needs. Our lawmakers need a wake-up call, especially after this travesty with telco immunity in the Senate. - inactive, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Without the freedom of the Internet, the REAL news will not be available and the Nightly News propaganda and brainwashing will be our only source for news. Please send this to everyone on you email list and ask them to write their congressman!!!!!
- projectstartrek, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Go internet!
- ItaloSuave, on 02/14/2008, -0/+5The Freedom of the Internet is the Freedom of Mankind based on the Marvels of New Technology. Any assault on this Internet Freedom is sponsored by Government or Business Interests that just cannot seem to "get with the program" of human autonomy, individual enablement and empowerment, and freedom for both the individual in society and the society at large. Religions, in my view, also empower the individual as against Governments and Big Business Interests. Do not allow your hair to be shorn, whether your Religion, or your Internet, like Delilah cut the long locks of Sampson in the Old Testament Bible Story. Remember that one? Same deal here. Keep your strength; keep your Internet Free.
- dtoler, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5Send this to your friends and relatives, too!
- king3vbo, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5DO IT! This is very important
- willsf, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5Yeah, baby. The information superhighway should not be stopped or taxed by a few telcos who already are charging us a pretty penny for internet access. Digg it, Digg it up, Digg it around, Digg it forward....you know what i mean....
- zredpill, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5The free flow of information, opinion and ideas on the internet is one of the greatest tools we have to maintain and strengthen our democracy. It is VITAL that this freedom be preserved. Call or write your representative!!
http://zredpill.blogspot.com/2008/02/preserve-inte ... - dOOBiEx213, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Sent mine :-P
- PurpleZoe, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5I'll be blogging this and spreading the word with emphasis on everyone taking action.
- fragos, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Don't let anyone control what flows on the Internet. We don't want censorship. We want to choose who we interact with or purchase from. Let us decide, not the big carriers that want control to line their own pockets.
- lunarshape31, on 02/14/2008, -0/+4Privacy is a real issue in our country and this is a crucial step in putting big telecom companies in their place!
- inactive, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Censorship with the world of blogging is the last thing we need.
www.alexesguerra.com - bootup, on 02/14/2008, -0/+4With all the money going to cable companies for Internet access they should be forced to upgrade the infrastructure in places where the lines are getting saturated and no alternative high speed (Consumer DSL/Fiber) competition exists. The so-called bottle network that is present is exclusive to cable Internet providers as a result of inherent weaknesses in cable technology. Cable can't compete with DSL or Fiber for speed and in places where the line is saturated and cable companies can't provide high speed Internet access they need to divvy up the line in such a way that the more bandwidth consumed the less per gigabyte you pay to compete with DSL while still offering a second tier option for low demand customers. If high speed customers pay the equivalent of DSL they should be getting the same service. Whatever bandwidth remains rightly can be utilized for a second-tier service.
- Midge150, on 02/14/2008, -0/+4Equal access for all!!
- Lapper, on 02/14/2008, -0/+4C'mon guys, any Net Neutrality legislation is effectively mandating the future of the internet. If we don't get it locked in now, we're going to end up with this: http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Why_net_neutrality_is_im ...
- rblumberg, on 02/15/2008, -0/+4I live in a district with a very conservative congressperson. In my message to her, I emphasized how an open Internet benefits, disproportionately, those countries, like the US, that have a literate population and a heritage of capitalist innovation. If we allow the great global corporations to hog the bandwidth, then we stifle just those qualities that made this nation great and that must be encouraged if we are to emerge from our current economic slump and restore a productive economy attuned to the needs of the 21st Century.
This is not a standard liberal ploy. It's something that the most diehard conservatives should support for all the right conservative reasons.
Richard - ponyjoni, on 02/14/2008, -0/+4We need to keep the Internet free from the control of big business.
- TheWGP, on 02/21/2008, -0/+3Spread the word! If this can be passed, the Internet has a much greater chance of not withering and dying under the control of Big Media!
- ianaleksander, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3Most people seem to have no idea what this is about and why it is so important. I've posted this several places and get tons of people saying "uh wut" "huh" "this post is dumb" etc.
Talk to people about it! Ignorance could mean long load times for important information! - hugeposuer, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3What does being a "Negro" have to do with anything?
- evilplayer, on 02/15/2008, -0/+3I can't believe how much they are trying to kill the internet. Free World? I think not.
- thestr1ker, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3The internet is meant to be free from control and censorship. The internet is freedom in its purest, most unadulterated form. Save the Internet, save the World!
- armoreddillo, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3Why couldn't something like this be done for the FISA fiasco?
- triune, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3make it so we can always download porn for free!
- kingtiger01, on 02/17/2008, -0/+3Everyone make a stand, The internet should be be free!!!! we created this great nation, as a people we should stand for are rights to freedom of a un-restricted communication!!! newspapers = 1 way, TV = 1 way, The Internet = 2 way communication. Why do you think they want to own it... hmm, no way to communicate, no way to be HUMAN!!!!
- mediaura, on 02/21/2008, -0/+3Support this and spread the word.
- wrk725, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3Please pass this on! We must maintain some freedom of choice on the internet.
- Observant1, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3I am already disgusted with the retroactive immunity granted to the telecom corporations for illegally wiretapping US, the citizens here, not "al-CIA-duh"
it's like this:
husband: honey please forgive me, promise you'll forgive me, promise me first oh please forgive me !!
wife: ok, what did you do ?
husband: oh thank you, nevermind...
a marriage aint gonna work like that at all, so who the hell does government and corporations that are supposed to be serving US think they are ?!!
they want to control the internet and rake us for more money. they also want to stop the flow of information that gets loose about their own corrupt/criminal/treasonous activities that the corporate/CIA controlled mainstream media keeps hushed. I'm tired of being bullied by a government that terrorizes US with the fear of "al-CIA-duh", a government that wants to declare WAR on its own citizens for its fears of "homegrown terrorists". they ARE afraid of this BECAUSE they keep trying to strip all of our freedoms and privacy, and them doing it is unAmerican and unconstitutional as well. - Shim0169, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2I'm not so sure about the porn thing. In the grand scheme of things, porn isn't that important. My main concern is that I don't want some schmuck sitting behind a huge desk in a leather chair, 40 stories above ground level, pushing papers around for $250,000 per year telling me what I can and can't do on the Internet. I own a small web design company and my clients have every right to display and make sure their content reaches their audience. Even more, their audience has every right to see my clients' content without the above mentioned big-wig telling them something like "If you want to see this web site, then you and the owner of the site you wish to visit has to PAY ME MORE MONEY so that you can!!" Yeah, because cable/phone companies don't get enough money from us already. This is total BS and it has to stop. Please.. I urge everyone to sign up for this and let your representatives know that you demand Net Neutrality.
- jrizzo, on 02/13/2008, -1/+3Dugg for Rage reference...
- katelaity, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2The net must be free: in the US we have the worst cell phone service, with the highest costs and the least connectivity and services (my British cellphone is far better and it's a cheapie). All because we let the corporations decide what we should have (i.e. cell phones that don't work outside our borders -- unless you want to pay a LOT more). Let's not let the internet fall under corporate control! Do you want to pay per byte?!
- SingingMongoose, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2right on
- t3chn0b0y, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2We have a right to run our own radio stations, we have a right to run our own blog,
and we have the right to run our own tv shows... and they don't like it.. they have
no right to take over our democracy.. - jimmyyy, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2AT&T F**k you greedy gobbling whore. Just but-hurt from getting your guts sucked out of the Yellow-Pages By PPC.
- denbeath, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1I intend to pass this information on to everyone I can think of . I also plan to cancel my Comcast Cable account and AT&T cell phone account in protest.
- burlesquemoon, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1Freedom!
