- mrASSMAN, on 02/24/2008, -222/+1188I respect his efforts.. but he is partially responsible for putting Bush into power and now he might be giving McCain the white house.. therefore he's a total douche.
- mrjohnnycake, on 02/24/2008, -102/+521Generally, I am more courteous with my comments here on Digg, but, Ralph Nader, you are an *****.
The last thing we need right now is for someone like you to take away Democrat votes and put another war monger in the White House.
Go complain about a car again for a change. - DavidGX, on 02/24/2008, -102/+514***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****.........
- joshrice, on 02/24/2008, -78/+415Dammit Nader, you didn't even come close the first two times and I don't think "the third time is the charm" is going to get you in this time. Let me put another away, if Ron Paul doesn't have a chance you don't either. What sort of backing do you have that RP doesn't? Do you really think you can just march in halfway through and expect to win this?
Hopefully he is as irrelevant in this election as he was in 2004... (CNN reports 411,304 Votes, or 1% of all cast) - UtahApocalyse, on 02/24/2008, -70/+349I now Officially must remove my support for Ron Paul. I now will have to vote for Obama. I refuse to let a war monger into office.
- Cappez, on 02/24/2008, -93/+357Thanks Ralph Nader for the good work in getting Bush elected, selflessly sacrificing yourself to his cause as you stood no chance of being elected yourself. I hope this time your intentions will be as noble.
/sarcasm - omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 02/24/2008, -49/+224goddammit nader, will you just sit this one out?!?
- dehlz, on 02/24/2008, -68/+239HEY NADER, GO ***** YOURSELF
- elosorusso, on 02/24/2008, -7/+163Should be irrelevant. Plus, as is written in CNN's coverage of the same news:
"But Nader -- citing the Republican Party's economic policies, the Iraq war, and other issues -- told NBC, "If the Democrats can't landslide the Republicans this year, they ought to just wrap up, close down, emerge in a different form.""

He's got us there... - smacksaw, on 02/24/2008, -101/+231No he is not.
The Democrats are responsible for putting Bush into power. If they were true to their roots and their platform, no one would have had a reason to vote for Ralph Nader. - TheTaoOfBill, on 02/24/2008, -61/+182Seriously can we stop discouraging people like Nader to run? This is America, people! Stop encouraging this elitist two party system we have. The democrats didn't lose in 2000 because of Nader. They lost in 2000 because of Bosnia, NAFTA and Monica.
- waterdrop, on 02/24/2008, -76/+188***** you Ralph Nader.
- pegothejerk, on 02/24/2008, -33/+143If anything deserves a "oh no, not this sh*t again" photo, it's this.
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -80/+158No, a vote for Nader is a vote for Nader. Voting for the lesser of two evils is a vote for evil.
- EPICFAILURE, on 02/24/2008, -5/+82Why I love Digg #853:
Fringe support for Ron Paul is commendable; fringe support for Ralph Nader is a sure sign of lunacy. - brentinkc, on 02/24/2008, -52/+127Ralph, this is not the year for it. You were welcomed in the past because no one was crazy about the nominees. The American people have a candidate this time around, and that man is Barack Obama. You are not welcome in this race. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
- ArntorFTL, on 02/24/2008, -63/+138***** Ralph Nader. The only thing this ***** is capable of is siphoning votes away from the Democrats.
- skyshock1, on 02/24/2008, -22/+92No way Nader will take away votes from Obama this time. Not enough to make a difference at least.
- richporter, on 02/24/2008, -34/+101Ralph Nader: Splitting the vote since 2000.
- mrjohnnycake, on 02/24/2008, -82/+148Nader has no chance so, out of the two choices, who would you rather see in the White House? A vote for Nader is a vote for McCain.
- waterdrop, on 02/24/2008, -10/+75McCain supporter on Digg? Buried for inaccuracy.
- dxgg, on 02/24/2008, -8/+72His running has never actually been about becoming president. It's been about getting people talking about issues that he feels are important...issues that wouldn't be talked about if he wasn't running.
In other words, he's willing to possibly muck up the election process (again) just to give himself a soapbox. - BrandonMills, on 02/24/2008, -37/+101Stop trying to live in a perfect world. The world isn't perfect. The idea of 'vote for your heart' sounds great on paper, but the system is broken, and it's all-or-nothing currently. If Nader wanted to do something, you think he might work 8 years on fixing the broken system. Instead, he thinks McCain would be a *great* President, apparently.
Your ideals don't translate into reality. The system is rigged, and you're sticking your head in the ground and pretending like it's not. It's not the moral high ground, it's utter ignorance. - OGla, on 02/24/2008, -13/+75How can you call yourself a democracy when there are only two parties to choose from? There is something wrong here if a vote on Nader means a vote for the republican candidate.
- moocowrat, on 02/24/2008, -39/+97he knows he has no shot at the presidency, he just wants to be the annoying prick that he is. he's like the guy who didn't get invited to the party so he shows up in his car blasting backstreet boys and honking hoping to get someone to look in his direction. THIS is the biggest dork in the world. not the other guy on the front page....
- InetRoadkill, on 02/24/2008, -24/+81Nader got around 97000 votes in florida. Bush won by 500 or so, so Nader can tip the balance.
The 2008 election is probably going to be close again. Nader is going to tip the scales toward the GOP once again. I hope Nader chokes on his own ego. He's a GOP dream come true for 2008. - kermit4karate, on 02/24/2008, -14/+62After four failed attempts in which he's never garnered widespread support, Nader must be blind and foolish to believe he's right to lead this nation.
And where's he been these past 4 years? He's still cited as a consumer advocate? I haven't seen him advocating strongly on behalf of consumers in decades.
His behavior points more toward out-of-touch megalomania than a deep abiding respect for the American people. - hobiesailor, on 02/24/2008, -22/+68Republicans around the country breath a sigh of relief, they have another chance...Nader can do it for them again.
- chall85, on 02/24/2008, -23/+68Funny that any comment which mentions democracy, progressive politics and choice gets dugg down. I hope Obama supporters (myself included) are intelligent enough not to buy into the "Nader's a spoiler" crap.
- Coven, on 02/24/2008, -7/+52How did you get a computer into the nursing home?
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -21/+63that's how democracy fails.
wanting the "best of the worst".
if not only nader, ANYONE that wanted to run, run, everyone would be better off. - h4ckler, on 02/24/2008, -44/+83This is interesting... Shortly after McCain gets entangled in some "fishy" deals...
- RpgActioN, on 02/24/2008, -24/+63I wouldn't describe Obama's policies - especially relating to energy - as "evil." He's pretty green, if you actually bother to do any research.
- thaboosh, on 02/24/2008, -11/+50250,000 dems voted for bush in Florida...i think if gore had convinced his own party to vote for him he would have won
- sarcasticmango, on 02/24/2008, -25/+62I'm feeling rage I don't feel often.
- AAK15, on 02/24/2008, -93/+130Great. Another 3rd party irrelevant candidate with no chance of getting elected and crazy ideas is in the race. Please Digg, don't make him into another Ron Paul.
- rficwizard, on 02/24/2008, -11/+47I am not a Nader supporter, but I am with you on this. The idea that you should vote for someone who doesn't share your ideals is just part of the gigantic tug-of-war that the two big parties have the whole country engaged in. They have the deck stacked (legally) against third parties. They have the deck stacked (legally) against the candidate who is not the incumbent. They constantly try to convince people that they MUST vote for one of their choices, or else they are wasting their vote. Keep up the faith. If they lose elections because they lost your vote, then your vote was FAR more important than the horse-race vote of your neighbor. They will not continue to ignore you if they continue to lose elections because they are losing your vote.
- CaptainAO, on 02/24/2008, -25/+60I respect the work Nader has done for consumer safety and corporate responsibility. But seriously, if you want an example of the damage an election spoiler can do, he is it. There's a VERY good chance Gore would have won in 2000 had Nader not been running. I understand he wants to show that America doesn't have to be a two-party system, but at what cost is his stubbornness worth? If Nader really believes in realistic change, he should ditch his arrogance and endorse Obama.
- absurdist, on 02/24/2008, -31/+65OK, is there anyone out there who still thinks Ralph Nader has an ounce of integrity left? Ego, yes - his ego would fill a small continent. But integrity?
- Joopje, on 02/24/2008, -21/+55Here we go again :|
- zeroeffect, on 02/24/2008, -26/+59For all his talk he must know that he is helping the Republicans. Who's to say this isn't his real intention?
- TotalHalibut, on 02/24/2008, -23/+54Americans are responsible for voting Bush in, don't delude yourself. The country is responsible for it's own mistake, quit trying to find a scapegoat. This is how democracy goes sometimes, hopefully you can learn from it and make a better choice next time.
- vector66, on 02/24/2008, -22/+52Basically a vote for Nader works in favor of McCain. Can he just endorse somebody?
- burningmanstan, on 02/24/2008, -8/+37Why should I respect his efforts? Has he held any elected political position in his life? Why hasn't he held a house or senate position as an independent? Sorry, if the guy wanted to make a difference in the political landscape of America, he should have run for something other than president all those years. Sure all the the activism work made a difference, but WTF is with running for president. Could you imagine Nader as a senator, that would be hilarious and it would shake some things up. I'm not a huge Ron Paul fan but at least RP can hold an elected position even with his crazy ideas.
- freshyill, on 02/24/2008, -34/+63Look, he's an ***** for getting into the race, but anybody who takes his candidacy seriously, and then actually votes for him is the REAL ***** this time. He's not a viable choice, and hopefully all the people with more idealism than common sense will realize the ***** calamity they inadvertently caused last time around by voting for him.
- kakti, on 02/24/2008, -19/+46Keep telling yourself that, and then go on and keep complaining about how ***** our 2 party government is. If you change, REAL change, you wouldn't vote for either of the two main parties. Otherwise, as chico said, you're just supporting the lesser of two evils.
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -33/+59"Since nader has no chance of winning the only outcome is going to be one of those 2 evils"
You can vote for evil. I won't. It's that simple.
I am not voting for a high school popularity contest. I'm voting to change the direction of this country. I'd rather lose than sell out. So ***** you and your demand that I vote for another corporate whore. No. It's not going to happen. - Coven, on 02/24/2008, -4/+30you mean first *4* times...
- mal1964, on 02/24/2008, -4/+29Fresh Columbia River Salmon, was on sale for 7.99 lb, How can he pass on a deal like that?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/24/2008, -2/+27It's only going to be close if Hillary is nominated.
Obama will win by a landslide. Nader or no Nader he's looking at 10 points ahead of McCain.
Not even Nader could tip that balance. -
