Maybe another asskicking in the 2008 election will wake them, but sooner or later, sons of people like Mitt Romney and other well-to-do individuals will die and break them from the partisan hackery.
- davidcg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12The entire goal for this administration is to occupy iraq, forever. Never to leave, ever. As long as their is always violence in iraq, then they have to stay, and can never leave. The reason for all this: military funding and funding to all private companies that help produce in the war, like the Carlyle Group. This is why they have been building permanent military bases all over iraq and around. These reports will always mention how we are improving the condition, but it still remains violent. The reports will never say we have won and mission accomplished, it will always be violence violence violence.
But eventually the lies can't be held forever, or at least indefinitely. So that is why iran is on the map. Occupying 2 counties at the same time will increase military spending even more, and make it even harder just to occupy, so that means you can occupy even longer(because your stretching your military, so it takes longer to get the population under control). The government will have to borrow even more money to increase the military budget, making billions more for the federal reserve bank owners and military contractors/stock holders. War is good for business. But not winning the war, that is bad for business, you don't make money by winning a war, so just don't win.
But if in 2008 it becomes law to carry the ***** rfid open id identication card, im leaving the us. - theshizzler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8just 6-12 months?
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yes, yes, and then it will continue for six months after that, and six months after that...
- duggtodeath, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Methinks the American forces have a definite hand in this continuous unrest.
- cjdunn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Good grief! From the article:
"Decrease in Baghdad violence due to sectarian cleansing:
The polarization of communities is most evident in Baghdad, where the Shia are a clear majority in more than half of all neighborhoods and Sunni areas have become surrounded by predominately Shia districts. Where population displacements have led to significant sectarian separation, conflict levels have diminished to some extent because warring communities find it more difficult to penetrate communal enclaves." - SwissCamel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5This makes me think that my investment in 'International Bodybags Ltd' was a wise one.
- toddcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Just give it another Friedman Unit...
- leatherback, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Well, I'm surprised the report came out on a Thursday instead of getting buried by release on Friday which is typical of this administration. When are we going to leave?
- izzybr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I hope you didn't dump your Halliburton and Northrup stock for that one...those are gonna be the big earners
- DOCKAUF55, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think they actually mean 6-12 generations.
- preisler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yes like that bomb killed 500 people the other day in Sioux Falls.. Oh right that was in Iraq. Or those 20 million Americans who have fled to other countries and the other 20 million who's internally displaced? Oh right that's in Iraq too (refugee numbers adjusted according to population size). You don't even try anymore do you?
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What exactly is that supposed to mean? At this point, we're more like a guy standing between two idiots trying to kill each other in order to try to break up the fight...
- poornbroken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3war is good for business... on the short term. after a certain amount of time, the war spending will start hemorrhaging our economy.
the problem that we face in iraq is that, if we pull out, there are other dynamics that will hurt our economy *even more* than our war spending. there is a reason why the u.s. can still borrow its way out of trouble. even though the media tells us the message that everyone hates us, *everyone* is complicit in their involvement in iraq. - AaronS2000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+44 Letters: G. - Dumbledorito, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think Kaelyiesta is planning to hurt or kill his family.
- conceptkid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2No *****, what exactly are they doing over there? FFS. Are they just driving around wrecking helicopters and seeing how many IEDs they can set off?
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2But General Patraeus said....
- Bael, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2After 6-12 months... everyone there will hold hands and sing a rousing rendition of Kumbayah.
- Bhima, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oh believe me, after the oil supply has peaked and world has moved on to a different form of energy the US will be just as interested in Iraq as it is in Africa.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2that's 1 to 2 friedman units
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I'm glad to see the Saddam supporters out in force.
- GunsGermsSteel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Serious question: what's the need for Petreaus' report if we have this one (other than politics)?
- Duositex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Did submitter not know how to spell twelve? Or is their "6" key broken?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Translation:
Replace the word "month" with the word "decade". - TearsofaClown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"While the February NIE concluded that conditions in Iraq were worsening, today's key judgments clearly show that the military's counterinsurgency strategy, fully operational since mid-summer, has begun to slow the rapidly increasing violence and patterns of that violence we have been seeing in Iraq. This change is a necessary precondition to the stability and increased political reconciliation that we all seek. The judgments in the NIE confirm that Iraq's security forces are improving their performance and that bottom-up political engagement and security initiatives have made a difference and offer the best prospect for improved security over the next six to 12 months"
- yohnstoppable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And 6 months after that
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1This just in from the "no *****!" file.
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1you must have read the thinkprogress version. they usually leave about half the story out.
- nickdngr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1According the AP Styleguide, numbers 0-9 are written out while numbers 10+ are written as numbers. It's journalistic style.
- johnpowell, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, the plan is for the next president to lose the war.
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1diggin up someone wishing death on someone. how small your perspective must be.
- consonance, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If you don't care to respect the rules of a language, kindly stop speaking it and allow the rest of us to enjoy it.
- TearsofaClown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If you would have actually read the report, and not the left-wing media spin, you wouldn't be saying that.
- techmaster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1In other news, the sky and the ocean will be staying a shade of blue for at least the next year, as well.
- kethraal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I disagree with all you "liberals" and other anti-Americans. I LOVE THE SURGE.
It's tasty, sugar-filled, and citrus flavored... not to mention the awesomely high caffeine content.
Oh wait... _that_ surge.
Yeah, that one's failing miserably. - StaticThunder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Oooh, a strife fund. I'm heavily invested in alcohol, myself.
- StaticThunder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0They said that we only had to give the surge a chance and things would get better. Now we're going to need a surge surge.
/I would love to give Bush a piece of my mind. He needs it more than I do. - jodofashodo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I thought my English teacher's were just being ***** when they kept marking me off for not spelling out single digit numbers....but if it's in a digg title, I believe it!
- fLUx1337, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The violence in certain african countrys is far worse than iraq, and the troubles are only their because US troops are their!
100% yes, I'm glad the US invaded Iraq because sadams gone, but they need to leave, NOW!
If the leave tomorrow, every last US troop, the title would be "Violence to "Remain High" In Iraq Over "Next Six to 12 days" - ccL1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Depends on your usage of numbers and their word equivalents. Some people go by the rule that all numbers from 0 to 10 (zero to ten) are to be spelled out, while anything more (11 to infinity) are to be numbered. Some people use the 0 to 3 (zero to three) rule. The submitter is perfectly justified in his/her method.
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1An that will stop the violence, how?
- oxymoron69, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2How long would it take just to kill them all and declare it a US territory?
I bet you guys could accomplish that pretty quickly.... get some napalm, declare victory, or this
scenario which is far more likely:
1. Carpet bomb desert country population
2. Build a new Disney theme park there "Desert Land"
3. ????????
4. Profit!!!!!!!!
oh wait, #3 is start another false flag war to then expand your territory further and declare marshall law at home
to then have a civilian work population in FEMA camps...
please please please USA, I hope you never discover the less armed and friendly neighbours that live north of you....
and I'll tell you a secret... we've got lots of oil too! - manogamez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1GET OUT NOW!!!!!
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1you must be listening to nancy "i love the smell of defeat in the morning" pelosi.
- ccL1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Wise man once said the insurgency was in it's "last throes". How accurate that statement rings true from 2005 to 3005!
- faskippy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0There, dammit! There! Countries!
- faskippy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Mission accomplished, my ass!
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1***** you for being so stupid. please figure out what the ***** your talking about at least once in your life.
- TearsofaClown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1let me guess, 911 was an "inside job," right?
