- quirkopatra, on 05/01/2009, -15/+206That's RACIST!
- maxonly, on 05/01/2009, -23/+193The State of California has a POLICY to grant extra points to "minorities" when awarding contracts for goods or services!!!! Codified reverse discrimination!!! the grate state of kalifornia...
- gatersaw, on 05/01/2009, -29/+180We've reached the tipping point or critical mass and now you're going to begin seeing many more of these cases of obvious racism. Now that the shoe is on the other foot we'll see who acts more childish. I love America! haha.
- darthjure, on 05/02/2009, -10/+124By the way, it's not REVERSE discrimination. it's just discrimination.
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -20/+130He's blind. How could he tell?
- RattStone, on 05/01/2009, -23/+132So, a Conservative White Talk Radio Host gets fired for talking about Illegal Mexican Immigration, but Black NY Gov. Paterson gets a free pass for firing a White State Photographer to hire a Black State Photographer.
Your right Gatersaw, we are almost at the tipping point. - URnotheonly1, on 05/01/2009, -23/+109NY GOV HATES WHITE PEOPLE
- t4m5t3r, on 05/02/2009, -21/+98oooh poor USA. wait until youv had 15 odd years of this then you can complain.
This is just normal in the UK. Im a PC technician. i have tried many times to get into, police, NHS and city council IT jobs because their pretty much jobs for life. Decent pay, pensions etc. At the last interview (my 4th) i went to i was told by the IT manager there was no point in waisting my time. In his words "your not the right colour, we have a quota to fill and we nowhere near close" they have even advertised for job for monirities only in the UK (try that with white only and see what happens)
And what happens is, people are hired for their race and not skills. if youv ever spoke to an NHS IT guy you'll know what i mean, most of them cant even turn on the computer and i have also had some that barely spoke english!! (i wish i was exaggerating) see you go to "colleges" in london. give them a couple of grand and they give you a degree and british passport (only takes about an hour) so theres dozens of these guys with "computer degrees" but zero skills (i assume it must be easy to fake IT qualifications or something?)
(there is some decent IT guys in the NHS, but their spread thin!)
and what we get is ***** calling us up and spending hour shouting down the phone at us claiming we should fix their problem. when in reality its their problem, nothing to do with us. But since their have no clue what their suppose to be doing they try and hit us with it.
the funny thing is, i work for an american company, and it is the first place iv worked where this DOESNT happen. Although, they prefer ***** sucking yes men, to people with skills. They dont put "minorities" first! (the reason i say "minorities" is because if you come to glasgow, you'll see that its actualy glaswegians that are the minority now, you can literaly walk around for hours and not see a single scotish person! in the MIDDLE of scotland!!)
Oh and try and get a house in the UK. I have been on the waiting list since 2003 and had NOTHING.An imigrant was put into the house below me. He came to this country just over a year ago (6 months in the UK when he got the house). I wait 6 years and get jack *****. He hides on a boat and sneeks in, free house in 6 months!! welcome to the UK!! (oh and he gets his food, transport, gas, electricity for free too.)
dont get me wrong. I dont blame the imigrants. If you came from squalor and next thing you know you being handed houses, cars financial support etc, you'd take it. Its not their fault.we should always remember its the ***** in charge that create the problems, not the people! - Christianptriot, on 05/01/2009, -33/+100If this were a conservative Governor, MSNBC and Ketih 'Older-but-not-wiser-man' would be screaming for the public execution of the perpetrator.
as it is, since he is a minority he will get a pass, and the MSM will ignore this completely. - buggles, on 05/02/2009, -20/+85If you're a white male these days, you're screwed. Affirmative Action IS racism, currying favor for employment to certain people based on their race and/or sex.
And you can just piss off about your "blacks are owed for slavery years ago" *****. EVERY race has been subject to slavery in some form or fashion throughout history and human slavery is still happening. So just STFU about how blacks need a special ticket so they can be "equal" or to make up for slavery. It's a new day and we are already equal. - Chahrlie5, on 05/01/2009, -17/+80Paterson is a walking joke
- joel8x, on 05/02/2009, -6/+65What the ***** is "reverse discrimination"? Its not a one way street, and white people did NOT invent it. Its just discrimination.
- bamw69, on 05/02/2009, -3/+55"oooh poor USA. wait until youv had 15 odd years of this then you can complain."
Thats why you are in the situation you're in.
Maybe you should have been complaining 15 years ago. - philomatic, on 05/02/2009, -15/+63I'd say I see way more reverse discrimination these days than the traditional kind; just no one calls BS on it for fear of being called racist themselves... so sad.
- raggsat98, on 05/01/2009, -3/+48Yes, it is.
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -15/+57Had this been the other way around, a White-on-Black hate crime, I bet the state wouldn't have been so "secret" about it.
- binaryecho, on 05/02/2009, -7/+49It's ok if racism is directed towards white people.
/sarcasm - eigenweasel, on 05/02/2009, -15/+57Thereby demonstrating that the whole "racism" industry is just a mechanism for attacking white people.
- TheGuruStud, on 05/02/2009, -2/+39It's called reverse b/c to a lot of people you can't be racist unless you're white. Yes, people in the US are that ***** stupid.
- schwagman, on 05/02/2009, -6/+38Where is the ACLU on this one.
- JCPahl, on 05/02/2009, -5/+35No no, it's only discrimination when white people do it.
- firesphotons, on 05/02/2009, -3/+31Duhhh has anyone checked his security team? same dealio
- smacksaw, on 05/02/2009, -8/+35He might be visually impaired, but he's not colour-blind.
- beccabob, on 05/02/2009, -2/+27I am biting. According to dictionary.com, the main definition of racism is "a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.", which has no mention of minority or majority status. While it is very true that minorities are still discriminated against in this country, for the white male, there are many jobs (mainly governmental) that I could never get as a middle aged white guy, simply because I am not in any way a minority.
Also, yes, white people had slaves, but sorry, my family never did. All of my relatives that have been in the United States a long time were all from non-slave states. Slavery ended over 130 years ago. Also, wanting to be treated fairly, regardless of skin color is not being a "right-wing loon", it is being human, regardless of our skin color. Is that not really the objective, for everyone, not just minorities to be treated fairly? - Chooxo, on 05/02/2009, -4/+28Jive-talk.
- smacksaw, on 05/02/2009, -5/+28Yeah, back in the day when we had to sell to the gov't, we often ran into that. If you know how to do compliance for selling to the state or GSA, you can make a lot of money doing the dance.
Don't forget hiring as well. I got turned down for police, fire and medic jobs over and over again until I just gave up. They can't be honest and say "white males need not apply", but they can jerk your chain and waste your time.
I don't see why they can't phrase things differently and call it something like "Project Helping Hand - a push to hire African-American women for civil service jobs" or whatever. - KDX200rider, on 05/02/2009, -6/+29It is clearly time for this kind of racism to be ended. Time to begin rolling back the racism of Affirmative action.
- thelastcivilian, on 05/02/2009, -0/+22$300,000 isn't free.
(It's taxpayer money!) - MacParrot, on 05/02/2009, -4/+26You are an idiot. Why should anyone have to pay for crimes (like racism) that they themselves did not commit?
- arpad, on 05/02/2009, -3/+24Ah, I understand. The way to redress injustice is with equal but opposite injustice.
When enough white kneecaps have been shot then it'll be a fair fight and you'll be satisfied that justice has prevailed.
What are you, like five years old?
The way to put an end to injustice is to put an end to injustice. You don't redress injustice except in the case of individuals who have some claim to damages. By your brilliant analysis justice would've prevailed in the aftermath of WWII only if six million Germans had been marched off to gas chambers. You figure that would've set things right?
If you want to feel heroic go rescue a kitten from a tree. That way you might not be tempted to try to help grown-ups run a country. - foucaultsvac, on 05/02/2009, -2/+23I read it all.
Dugg. - ELWOOD_BLUES, on 05/02/2009, -2/+23This kind of attitude actually perpetuates racism. There will always be a difference between races as long as people create them in their own mind. It is truly time to stop this crap about affirmative action and let people sink or swim.
My grandfather lived in an Italian slum/ghetto in NYC when he was a kid. He then went in the Navy in WWII. After the war he got himself a job and worked his way up to President of a 150 employee manufacturing company. No college. No handouts. Just work.
There is no reason that any person can't do the same in the USA. Nobody is being held back. The only thing holding people back from their dreams and goals is their own perceptions, regardless if they are white, black or whatever.
Many years ago my uncle was passed over for promotion to Captain in the NYFD (New York city Fire Department) because he was white. Minorities were given extra points on their tests to help get them promoted. But the real question is this: Do you want the guy who scored 82 on the exam to organize and lead the efforts to fight the fire that you are trapped in, or the guy who scored 92? Tragic... - wookiebush, on 05/02/2009, -9/+28Yep, and another word that is bandied about, Diversity. Diversity is telling one race that they are not strong enough of a people to stand on their own. So they need "special help/treatment" from the majority to stand equal with everyone. Which is BS, everyone can stand on their own merits, and not on their skin color.
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character"-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 28 August 1963
“But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
We cannot walk alone.”-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 28 August 1963
Judging a man’s worth based on the color of his skin (race) is racism period. It does not matter who is doing it. I once heard a statement that it is not racism if the one being racist was in the minority.
As for me, I cannot be racist, I hate everybody equally. ;) And personally feel that Dr. King was A great American, and is sorely missed. God bless you Dr. King.

yeah... where to begin here...
I REALLY hope you just forgot to put the " /s " at the end of that. As beccabob said above, racism has nothing to do with majority/minority status. Example : A black guy saying he hates mexicans is a racist comment. Both are considered minorities.
I'm Italian and German, AKA "white guy", but my family came to this country long after slavery was ended. So should i have to bear the burden of "white guilt" ? Should I be apologetic because people who lived in this country more than 100 years before i was born had slaves ? No thanks.
I should really know better than to feed the trolls here, but sometimes I just read a comment so ***** ignorant that I have to chime in. - buggles, on 05/02/2009, -6/+24Bull *****. EVERY race has endured slavery at some point in history and you're blathering about how blacks need a special ticket so they can be equal IS RACISM.
Weighting favor to a person because of their race and/or gender IS RACISM.
Wait until you're unemployed, have a family and mortgage to support, and you have to tick off your race and gender on EVERY JOB APPLICATION YOU SEE, and tell me how advantaged you feel. - dhughes, on 05/02/2009, -2/+19Here's a plan:
1) Learn to spell correctly
2) Get a spray on tan
3) Change your name to something more exotic
4) Apply a 5th time - PeanutCheeseBar, on 05/02/2009, -2/+19Kanye West approves this message.
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -6/+22We have a black president now. Doesn't that mean we can stop this *****?
- flip2trip, on 05/02/2009, -3/+18"What do you do if there is a whole class of people who are alive to day whose grandparents and parents weren't allowed to go to college?"
You don't make the people that WEREN'T alive then pay for it now. The fact that life was a bitch in the past doesn't make anyone responsible for it now. We can only affect the here and now, history will judge us as to how well we did treating each other with respect. Hopefully, we get better at it as time goes on. We learn from the past and try to move forward, we don't try to "fix" the past, it's not possible. - dramatix01, on 05/02/2009, -2/+17Maybe a little off-topic, but why does the NY senate need a photographer? In my mind, this is yet another entry to the "wasteful spending" column.
- nobama89, on 05/02/2009, -4/+18Anyone notice that in almost every article about the Supreme Court they mention that only women and minorities should be considered? Don't get me wrong, there is nothing inherently wrong with a woman or a minority being appointed on the supreme court, it's the fact that a judge will be chosen solely based on the color of their skin or their gender instead of their ability to uphold the constitution.
- MrColdheart, on 05/02/2009, -2/+16..so now the shoe IS on the other foot and you turn it into a game of us versus them?
Instead of sounding happy that racism can occur to white people how about condemning it. - acknotSW, on 05/02/2009, -2/+16MFoody, you should look at the stats for blacks who immigrate from other countries like Hattie and many of the African nations. They do as well as whites overall. Blacks born in America make 25% less because of their culture where being smart, working hard, and trying to get ahead is looked down on as trying to be white. Blacks from other countries don’t have that attitude instilled in them when they are children.
Any poor black kid from the worst ghetto on the planet can go to college if he/she wants to, it's getting them to want to when they didn't win life’s lottery that’s the challenge. As much as I disagree with a lot of Obama’s politics, I hope his presidency is a huge success for no other reason than that it will show an entire generation of poor black youths that they don’t have to be a sports star or drug/gang thug to gain respect and that maybe this country isn’t as against them as they have been taught by the likes of Jessie Jackson and other so called black leaders. - Jpatano, on 05/02/2009, -1/+14umm.... well regardless of where the story came from, do you think they're making up the $300k settlement ?
- kinerry, on 05/02/2009, -15/+28no such thing as "reverse discrimination"
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -6/+19People digging you down just have no sense of humor.
- murraj2, on 05/02/2009, -4/+16Affirmative Action
- quirkopatra, on 05/02/2009, -1/+13Smotpoker you are incorrect. I live in the hood. Living in the hood has become entrenched in black American culture. At this point, only fellow black folks can help lead them out of the desperation, which will only happen when black leaders quit telling them from the TV and the pulpit that they are victims.
Reparations should never happen. Americans are tired of being told constantly of our sins and how we need to make up for them while other nations get a pass. It would be true to say there is an epidemic of poverty and criminality in black America if ALL black Americans were poor and exhibited criminal behavior, but there are many successful black Americans now. Some of them (Cosby comes to mind) speak out to youth and encourage them to grab the dream, only to be dissed by other black leaders who wish to keep folks in hatred and chains.
Oddly enough, when African immigrants move into my hood, they are called the n word by black Americans and accused of acting "superior" because they don't want to get involved in the pack mentality and they seek to make it out of the hood someday. It's sad and ironic. - pintomp3, on 05/02/2009, -19/+31It's like stormfront in here.
