- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -5/+104You say "low polling" in your description, but you have to understand that Independents are going to play a large role in the 2008 elections. New Hampshire's focus = independent voters and that's Ron Paul's territory. By denying him a seat at the forum, it's somewhat of a slap in the face to the people of New Hampshire and it's a good move by the NH GOP to break off as a partner. You should never sponsor this kind of attack on American voters and that's essentially what Fox News is doing.
- dabears1218, on 01/06/2008, -3/+63I fail to see how 3rd place in the state counts as "low polling".
- detree, on 01/06/2008, -9/+44Wow, Fox News stock is down almost 7% over the past five days. Also, their business news channel only gets 6,000 viewers a day compared to CNBC's couple hundred thousand. Pretty soon Fox will be nothing more than a little neocon's blog run out of their parent's basement.
- AAjax, on 01/06/2008, -3/+37I heard Ron bought an hour of airtime tomorrow http://www.mcam.org/
Go Ron Go! - JoeNova, on 01/06/2008, -1/+31Ron Paul got 10% Iowa Caucus, Ghouliani got 4%. Fair and Balanced? They so need remedial math. Hey Cafferty, you listening? Answer to why Paul isn't doing so well-NOT INCLUDED! Lets face it, Murdoc has trashed a good man for his ringers :P
- offwhite, on 01/06/2008, -1/+24The press should not be pre-selecting the candidates for the voters. That is the purpose of the caucus process. Ron Paul clearly has support and the money to compete. The straw poll taken in the Fox News board room should not impact the GOP field of candidates. Fox News is acting like the press is given delegate votes in the process. The NH GOP should not look into revoking their broadcasting license of Fox in the state, or at least fine them. What they have done so far is a good first step.
- Factionrider, on 01/06/2008, -4/+24Except Fred Thompson is invited, and he not only has not raised as much money as Paul, but is polling lower. Get your facts straight.
- MillionsLivio, on 01/06/2008, -4/+21Low polling my ass.
- dotlizard, on 01/06/2008, -1/+13this isn't just about Ron Paul. it's about biased self-proclaimed "journalists" trying to ***** with the election by directly manipulating the public's access to candidates. Faux News wants to marginalize a viable candidate with a lot of support, just because he doesn't spout the Neo Con ***** that Fox endorses.
- smharmon1, on 01/06/2008, -0/+11The conventional reason for FOX's rejection of Ron Paul is related to "low national polling." That's a funny reason given that NOT EVEN one official vote has been cast yet. Votes are empirical evidence; sampling is theoretical evidence. What kind of a business relies on esoteric sampling methods to roll out its product line--in this case, candidates? I suppose a soft-drink maker would poll a community, then set up a business based on this theoretical evidence. Hardly.
The only quasi-empirical evidence collected to date (if not including the Internet, which we know does not have real people connected to it) have been straw polls and money raised/donors. Well, I think Ron Paul has won about 25 or so of these straw polls across the country, and placed well in many others. Not scientific, but at least it's empirical evidence. And that straw poll "caucus" in Iowa didn't show a whole lot of difference in the 3rd/4th/5th place slots--a few percent. As for money raised/donors, Paul is beating all Republicans.
Some "business," this FOX entity we call a news organization. It sure does not act like a business. It certainly does not act like a news organization. It doesn't even act like a government agency--it completely ignores customer complaints, bad publicity, emails, and complaints from other organizations (such as the New Hampshire Republican Party).
I am really struggling to figure out what FOX News is, other than one big filter for keeping information from the people. As a business, it should not exist; as a news organization, it does not deserve press credentials; as a government-corporate agency, it should not receive any funding; as an infotainment organization, it isn't entertaining anyone. Can you imagine People Magazine ignoring its customers?
As near as I can tell, FOX is either one huge disinformation-propaganda machine operated by some mysterious foreign entity or some loonies within the U.S. Clearly, Homeland Security or the FBI should be called in to investigate this rogue entity; Treasury should be notified to investigate its funding. There could be domestic terrorism or Al Q'aeda involved. - azimir, on 01/06/2008, -1/+12Yes, we're called "involved citizens".
- ultimatesn, on 01/06/2008, -1/+11forget "low polling", he said "low funded!" its amazing how people can just lie through their teeth like that.
- barfooz, on 01/06/2008, -0/+10Boy, I'd hate to see your real Perl code...
- GeneralFailure0, on 01/06/2008, -2/+11If you think about it, it's probably best to watch news networks with lower ratings. You get higher ratings by reporting on issues involving Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, or Lindsey Lohan.
- Adgeman, on 01/06/2008, -0/+9But certainly not the same editorial standard; Sky News is far, far superior and doesn't have the hint of hell that Fox does.
- YSSMAN, on 01/06/2008, -0/+8When a candidate who clearly has a following and a clear direction in the polls, I see absolutely no reason why he (or she) should be excluded from the debate. The ABC poll this evening had attempted to exclude Paul, but he got through (thankfully) and made a good showing. We, as Americans, need to have people like Ron Paul out there causing a discussion, placing new ideas on the table. Otherwise we're stuck with the same status-quo idiots like Romney and Clinton who use the same talking points everywhere they go.
- Yez70, on 01/06/2008, -1/+9It's the same company as Sky News in the UK.
- pehpsi, on 01/06/2008, -4/+12It has the words "mike17032" in it, it should be buried as spam.
Then shat on. - bardamuclichy, on 01/06/2008, -2/+10They can do what they want, but it doesn't mean that we will respect it. Go ahead, be rude and misleading. We will point it out.
- vat0r, on 01/06/2008, -0/+8Hello, did you watch the ABC debate? This is not just an attack by FOX. It is an attack by those who don't want real change. The same fools that own the Media. They are not covering him fairly and it wouldn't matter if we sent him a billion dollars and hundreds of thousands of us marched in the streets. They don't want anyone like Ron Paul (honest and intelligent) getting anywhere near the White House and they will do whatever it takes to insure that America is "Business as usual" for the next decade or so..
- Soave, on 01/06/2008, -8/+14So... NH GOP isn't supporting the Fox Debate anymore? I couldn't tell from the first two articles that were front paged today.
- kingo123, on 01/06/2008, -0/+6That is true. Sky News is superior compared to Fox News, just remember they are both sister companies. When it comes to USA reporting from Sky news, just remember where those videos are feeded from :)
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -0/+6Why do they censor/ban Ron Paul? What are they hiding?
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-165688030 ... - Banelos, on 01/06/2008, -0/+5If Ron Paul is a low poller why did he beat Rudy Giuliani who is invited to the debate by 6% in Iowa? And Ron Paul should have even better chances in NH and has been polled at 3rd place at the most recent Rasmussen poll.
- eFiniTi, on 01/06/2008, -0/+5Or perhaps you're the uneducated one seeking flawed policy and resulting in name calling to avoid logical discussion?
- wstrucke, on 01/06/2008, -2/+7no dude -- when it comes to the national election -- NO ONE should have that kind of influence. cspan should be hosting the debates, but if we're stuck with the big networks -- they should be required to give equal access to anyone with significant support.
- d03boy, on 01/06/2008, -1/+5i'm sure they were referring to the national poll since thats what Fox apparently used to determine who could go
- OnGard4Liberty, on 01/06/2008, -2/+6"I am a friend of the Free State Project! Check it out...and if you like it, join and continue the effort!" -- Rep. Ron Paul
http://www.freestateproject.org/intro/ron_paul - plr4ever, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4Wow, i kinda feel sorry for you.
Does anyone ACTUALLY agree/digg up/like you? - Absinthminded64, on 01/06/2008, -1/+5OK - I respect your opinions about the candidates. Obviously you probably aren't a big Ron Paul Fan. But what you seem to be a big fan of is absolutely horrendous. And that's media, corporation's, and existing government deciding your candidate for you.
Seriously, Wake Up. - BabaRamDass, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4Just because he's right, doesn't mean he has to be a dick about it.
If he wouldn't start his comments with "Holy ***** crap.. So delusional. Let's go through your pathetic delusions one by one." he might've gotten dugg up for making good points, but he chose to insult before trying to educate--always a bad move. - MillionsLivio, on 01/06/2008, -1/+5How about you get over yourself?
- kingo123, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4We do have Fox News in the UK, if you have a Sky subscription package. (it's a few channels after CNN). Also on another note, Yez70 is correct, Fox News is the sister network for Sky News. Although, thankfully not everything is trash like Fox News.
- Factionrider, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4First, lets get the numbers out of the way.
Ron Paul: 19 million for the 4th quarter of 07.
Fred Thompson: 12 million for the 4th quarter of 07.
You do understand that 19 is a larger number than 12, right?
Second, like it or not this is an article about the NH GOP, Fox news, and Ron Paul; not Kucinich or Gravel.
Next, do you speak English? I feel like I made it pretty clear I was against fox on this issue.
Finally, Ron Paul is absolutely nothing like Bush, nor anything like his fellow republican presidential hopefuls, how pray tell, did you manage to bring Bush into this?
Lets call this what it really is, daddy is a democrat and you hate all republicans. Make your own decisions based on the person, not the party. - PFMMCE, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3At least he did well in the ABC debate. Fox is scum. Anyone that even watches fox would most likely not even understand Ron Paul's message. Murdoch and his cronies will do everything they can to keep the income inequality in their favor and that includes no Ron Paul. Vote for Ron Paul and send Murdoch back to Australia
http://www.eclipptv.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=633 ... - deanypop, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3Sounds like a great gay porn title.
- bumb1ebee, on 01/06/2008, -1/+4Part of the free market system is allowing consumers to voice their opinions about a service, product, or business practice. They are allowed to protest, whine, send mail, pressure advertisers, or do whatever they want as long as its peaceful. What is not allowed is for the government to step in and force a private company to do something they don't want to do.
- vat0r, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3More like you get thousands of people genuinely interested in Ron Paul and trying to promote his message despite the media and their zombies best efforts.
- JCM0165, on 01/06/2008, -1/+4Maybe you are the moron whining about the whining.
- JigoroKano, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3It serves it's purpose to spread propaganda for the GOP and other related interests.
They literally get memos. - FurtThePirate, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2I don't think Cafferty is listening to your comment, you should use MOAR CAPS!
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2I am no Ron Paul fan, but this was just plain wrong. How can they allow Fred Thompson to be in the debate, but not Paul? I am very glad to see the GOP pull support for the event. I skipped it myself (first debate I haven't watched).
- paul1easton, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2As opposed to the Democratic Party which has to be overjoyed that Kucinich was excluded, because he would blow huge holes in the other candidates position (basically all have the same one)!
- fluffyturtle, on 01/06/2008, -4/+6I don't understand why Ron didn't do something about this sooner. Either the entire event was thought up within 5 minutes of the announcement or this guy is just sitting around hoping his supporters will carry him into office.
If Ron Paul doesn't some how manage to be a part of this event it will mark the end of his presidential run. Face it, if he doesn't get air time he can't make it into office. - inactive, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2Ha Ha, was that website made by Fox News? We choose, you decide.
- hittnrun, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2uh Mike Huckabee will be the musical guest.
lol - inactive, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2um...can i get a hell yeah?
- vat0r, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2I think a-lot of people are missing the boat on this one. If Ron Paul would of run as an Independent from the beginning he wouldn't of received ANY attention until the general elections. Thus giving the other candidates a year head start on him. By running as a Republican early he has not only gained a massive grassroots following he has also accumulated a substantial amount of money. Both of which will allow him a much larger platform when he eventually runs in the general elections as an Independent candidate, and make no mistake about it Ron Paul will run for President as an Independent. He is an incredibly intelligent man who thus far is playing his cards perfectly. While the other GOP candidates are bickering, posturing and even playing the bass Ron Paul soldiers on quiet, informed, respectful, honest and direct.
- Ryosen, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2Fox and Sky are both owned by the same parent company (News Corp), that's true. However, they have very little influence over each other's operations.
- MWeather, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2"So the free market libertarian Ron Paul supporters think that Fox shouldn't be allowed to do whatever they want with their network?"
Not according to the terms of their broadcast license. -
