NAFCU supports ending Internet gambling "ban"

nafcunet.org — The National Association of Federal Credit Unions supports a bill that would bar implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which would essentially turn financial institutions into law enforcement apparatuses, Dan Berger, NAFCU’s senior vice president of government affairs, told the House Financial Services Committee Monday.

  • TheEngineer2008, on 06/24/2008, -0/+7This is a terribly flawed law, both on premise (that we need big government to censor the Internet to protect us from ourselves) and in implementation (no definition of "unlawful Internet gambling" provided to banks, and the idea of forcing banks to enforce this). I hope we'll all call Congress and tell them we support HR 5767 and oppose UIGEA.
