- phnx0221, on 11/04/2007, -3/+152"The group grew so quickly it caused technical problems for the website, which has nearly 50 million users around the world and is said to account for 1% of all internet traffic."
"The group was growing very quickly and began overloading one of our servers, but we have since resolved that problem," a Facebook spokeswoman told the New York Times. "
That's awesome. - NightVortez, on 11/04/2007, -6/+117Is his character running or is he? Either way, I'm in.
- inactive, on 11/04/2007, -11/+103This just shows that the US government is a joke.
- SeethisPass, on 11/04/2007, -4/+88Can't SOMEBODY with talent and knowledge run and not get railroaded by the criminals at the top?
- TroubleInMind, on 11/04/2007, -3/+76for those who are code-challenged, the comment above roughly translates as "remove the word fake".
- AriaStar, on 11/04/2007, -3/+73Now if only all 1mill+ were in the US and registered to vote.
- inactive, on 11/04/2007, -2/+62I didn't need Colbert running for president to come to that conclusion.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 11/04/2007, -4/+52It never occurred to the media that these 1,000,000 people also realize it's a joke? I doubt anyone is seriously considering him for president. Everyone is just backing what he stands for: It's all just a big joke.
- inactive, on 11/04/2007, -3/+47I would honestly vote for Stephen Colbert, character or not, over Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or any other candidate besides Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel. If any of the republican nominees are elected, or if Clinton or Obama is elected, a draft is almost garunteed since they all favor military action with Iran. Since Putin recently said that any military action against Iran will be seen as military action against Russia. Seeing as there are only four candidates who won't get me drafted into a war that is absolutely insane, Colbert has my vote. Clinton is more of a joke than Colbert's character.
- MurderMystery, on 11/04/2007, -6/+46Fake?! Fake?! We'll show you fake you nazi sumbitches!
- zachshmack, on 11/04/2007, -1/+38And by "backed" they mean "clicked on a link to join a group"
- daedalus779, on 11/04/2007, -9/+44FAKE?! Was it fake when the germans bombed pearl harbor?!
- tnoy, on 10/31/2007, -5/+36When he purposely runs in a way that makes it *impossible* for him to win the nomination, then yes, it is.
- Daimwn, on 10/30/2007, -2/+29It is unfortunate that the people outside the Colbert Nation don't understand it. And with honesty do we? Steven could very well be playing it safe until he knows that he might have a chance. But this IS and should be a statement at the very least. We do not want the same type of people anymore. Politicians are now business men and women. Not politicians. Out of character I do believe that S.C would do a better job than most of these pricks. But maybe just maybe this could be that huge turn of events that sets our country back to where it is supposed to be. As the greatest, open minded country on the planet. As opposed to the biggest, most greedy middle finger wielding jack-offs in the world.
- fkr3, on 10/30/2007, -1/+27Not while the only effort people are willing to make to suppor them is "mouse clicks".
- Asianwaste, on 10/31/2007, -3/+28Ronald Reagan won... twice. I won't dismiss the fake candidacy as retarded, but really a lot of people weren't actually serious about this. If he seriously ran and took a serous approach to this, he would actually have a fighting chance.
- zachshmack, on 10/30/2007, -0/+23I'm pretty sure teenagers can pick up on sarcasm and BEARS
- tnoy, on 10/30/2007, -1/+21You mean, if all 1mil+ were registered to vote and lived in in South Carolina. He's only running in that state, and only people in that state can run.
- TroubleInMind, on 10/30/2007, -35/+51Guy walks into a bar, shaking his head. Says to the bartender, "Man, I tell ya, it's a damned shame."
Barkeep replies, "What's that, Mac?"
Guy says, "Well, there was a terrible accident. Seems all the Ron Paul fanboys got themselves into the same bus caravan, and I guess the Earth just opened up and swallowed em, every single one of em. Then the Earth closed back up, not even a trace left."
Bartender thinks for a minute, says "Scuse me, pal, when you came in you said something was a damned shame."
Guy says , "OH, sorry, totally forgot about that. As I walked in, I realized I'd forgotten to put the recycling out this morning," - gbarberi, on 11/04/2007, -3/+19I know that, but I do allow myself delusions every now and then.
- inertic, on 10/30/2007, -5/+21God forbid someone writes about a candidate other than Ron Paul.
- LordByr0n, on 10/30/2007, -3/+18I really hope your being sarcastic
- notque, on 10/30/2007, -3/+18Unless it's not.
- joegibes, on 10/30/2007, -0/+15What does Kucinich has in his pockets?
- notque, on 11/04/2007, -39/+53s/fake//
- thebellmaster1x, on 10/31/2007, -5/+18Goddamn it. Stop preaching your candidate. We get it. When was the last time you've seen anybody spout a wall of text for Huckabee or someone?
- jjremy, on 10/30/2007, -0/+12I'm too Canadian to vote, but i joined anyways.
- DashingLeech, on 10/30/2007, -2/+14There are two types of bandwagons. The ones that are popular and the ones that are headed in the opposite direction. I'm getting really sick of this anti-Ron Paul bandwagon. You guys post more than the Ron Paul supporters these days in an attempt to make it trendy. At least they have substance to their bandwagon in that they support his ideas and cause. You guys have no substance in that you don't attack Dr. Paul's policies, you attack his supporters by calling them "fanboys". Pathetic. This isn't some new Britney Spears song, this is the future of the United States. Grow some balls and make a real argument for once in your life.
- TitanX13, on 10/30/2007, -1/+13its funny cause most likely 50% of them cant vote
- holdencaulfield, on 10/30/2007, -2/+13Sure - the facebook kids love Colbert... for kicks, search your school for all the people who list themselves as "conservative" or "very conservative" and have a chuckle at how many of them list Colbert and The Daily Show as one of their favorite TV shows.
- Zalyster, on 10/30/2007, -2/+13But many of the people who joined his group are probably too young to vote--just a thought.
- tnoy, on 10/30/2007, -1/+11*can vote for him.
- Fieri, on 10/31/2007, -1/+11I would elect a rock over all but three of the current contenders.
- BrandonMills, on 10/30/2007, -2/+11Ron Paul yesterday, Colbert today, who knows tomorrow. Welcome to the world of Internet trends. Yes, it's easy to build up a quick base of huge numbers, but unfortunately, they aren't exactly 'loyal', and soon as it's trendy to go elsewhere, your time is up.
Colbert has one thing that Ron Paul would kill for - nationwise name recognition. - HUKI365, on 10/30/2007, -3/+12iAlex is ridiculous. The propaganda mainstream media news site commentator is writing about a real candidate, but not about the fake big candidate on the Internet - Stephen Colbert. Shame on you iAlex iAlex is a serious RP spammer.
- redrock34, on 10/30/2007, -2/+10Thats' why he doesn't need Doritos as a sponsor. I'm sure he could raise millions in a couple of days.
- crapmatic, on 10/30/2007, -0/+8Can I lend you a period or a semicolon?
- skunkman62, on 10/30/2007, -1/+9by law, cobert would have to quit comedy central before he could actually run.
- MacEnvy, on 10/31/2007, -7/+15Ron Paul started out as only running in a couple states, but increased funding allowed him to take his campaign national. Just a thought.
/Please don't kill me for bringing him up ... I'm not voting for either of them. - isaactwito, on 10/31/2007, -5/+12That "/Please" just saved your ass.
- jmpeagle, on 10/30/2007, -4/+11colbert's popularity on facebook far outweighs Ron Paul's popularity. BBC has done articles on Ron Paul before but not every story will include him. BTW I am voting for Ron Paul and think you need to just shut the ***** up. Your Ron Paul spamming is doing more harm than good for his campaign.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -1/+8Colbert (a comedian / clown) is much more credible and deserving than 90% of the chumps running for President.
- ausfahrt, on 10/30/2007, -1/+8Hmmm...maybe you can clarify something- just how not embarrassing is it to have Bush as a president?
- flmumb, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7I'm 14 and I love the show, and I get just about every joke. We're not all stupid, you know.
- atheinostic, on 10/31/2007, -4/+10Come to think of it, when was the last time you've seen anyone support Huckabee, ever?
- cnot3, on 10/30/2007, -1/+7with their V2 rockets
- ajb312, on 10/30/2007, -1/+7He was just at Cornell a few days ago and when he was asked if he would run in other states he said that he doesn't want to win just ***** with people.
- MadScientist440, on 10/30/2007, -0/+6And an o? I've goot plenty of o's...
- NSMike, on 10/30/2007, -0/+6I didn't say all. Zalyster said "many" and I was implying that it was few.
