- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -5/+163Even if you don't like Ron Paul for whatever reason, I don't know how why anyone wouldn't want to support this bill.
- Richandler, on 05/21/2009, -5/+150This is a very big issue for me. If you want to audit the Federal Reserve and make it the law. This bill is what you should be writing your congressman about. Other issues can be fought another time. This is the first time in over 80 years of existence this is coming about. A simple email is all that is needed.
- BrownieMix, on 05/22/2009, -26/+125Ron Paul is amazing......
- patent98310, on 05/22/2009, -10/+102Why the hell he didn't gain momentum with his presidential campaign is pure crazy, People were too busy taking sides on dem/rep arguments and worrying about the clothes Palin was wearing. WTF!!!
welcome to the American Idol era; Where people can't read between the lines to save their own asses, let alone know what the hell is going on beyond their tv screen talky people, ooooh so shiny, i'll be right back.....
for real tho, why not vote for him next time around. since we already voted for a retarded papa's-boy-pushover, and now we're beginning to see Obama is lying through his pearly whites "YES WE CAN! (but we're not going to.....)" Why not vote for the guy who has been arguing our case for as long as i can remember?????????????????????? - inactive, on 05/22/2009, -4/+82Audit it, then End it.
- bmdubya, on 05/22/2009, -7/+78Please please please people write or call your Representatives. I did, and about three weeks later I recieved a letter from Lynn Jenkins (Rep. from KS), saying that she was in support of the bill. You elect these people, they will do what you ask them. Nothing will get done if you just sit around thinking that your representatives will do it.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -3/+62The Fed has never been audited in its life. The Fed refuses to tell Congress where it spends money. The Fed is the definition of "above the law". Auditing the Fed would stop the criminality for good.
By the way, it's unfair to even call it the Fed. It's privately-owned. Ron Paul's next bill should be to change the name of the Federal Reserve to The Private Bank. - mercuryswings, on 05/22/2009, -2/+55“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. “ - Thomas Jefferson
- CrudOMatic, on 05/22/2009, -30/+78The FED has been shoveling money to politicians for years... I wanna know who all they paid off... beyond the obvious of presidents and administration...
DESTROY THE FED... while I still have free speech under the puppet Obama... - Henzee, on 05/22/2009, -14/+56RON PAUL 2012!!!
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -3/+39The ideas of liberty are immortal.
- stockgotti, on 05/22/2009, -3/+34I agree with everything you said except for the first eight words.
- Logicexe, on 05/22/2009, -2/+32I feel the same way. I never went nuts over Ron Paul (I'm not a libertarian) but this is a great idea. I can't even conceive of a argument against this.
- henri3, on 05/22/2009, -1/+31Digg H.R 1207 "The Federal Reserve Transparency Act" AUDIT THE FED!!
- henri3, on 05/22/2009, -2/+32Dugg to AUDIT "The privately owned banks"
- CrudOMatic, on 05/22/2009, -3/+32"""You elect these people, they will do what you ask them."""
Unless the bankers own them... much like the history of politicians in this country.
"""Nothing will get done if you just sit around thinking that your representatives will do it."""
EXACTLY, you need to hound them like rabid jackals. Freedom is NOT free. - SilverBlade2k, on 05/22/2009, -3/+31If this occurs, this will blow the whole door wide open on the truth behind the Federal Reserve.
But, the Federal Reserve will probably do *something* to block the bill, like mess with the interest rates or completely refuse to print more money in which the government needs. Or...just outright bribe people to prevent it from happening - clintmeyer, on 05/22/2009, -1/+23i only disagree with the 3rd word.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -4/+26If this passes both houses, it will be the true test of whether or not Obama believes in transparency.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 05/22/2009, -4/+25Massive, unchecked antilibertarian media bias as shown in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iW5kOB1pmg
is why the good doctor's campaign didn't take hold, despite the kind of diverse grass roots support which must have made traditional "grass roots" candidates like Dennis Kucinich green with envy. - xerigen, on 05/22/2009, -1/+21How many cosponsors does this need to be taken to a committee? 435?
- stockgotti, on 05/22/2009, -1/+21I don't think there is a single political issue that I haven't heard Ron Paul's take on. I can also say that I completely agree with 100% of the time. He's only been wrong once in his whole Congressional career and that was on net neutrality which is a subject that after further examination he's reversed his stance on and is now right on that too. I'll never understand why the most critical thinkers are labeled "zombies" by people who support the guy the TV tells them to.
- darkened, on 05/22/2009, -1/+21That is one of the best ideas ever said on Digg, if the name was changed to anything other than Federal ... etc, and it was made clearly known it's a private corporation America would be outraged to finally realize our monetary system is 100% entirely controlled by a elite set of bankers that as you point out are absolutely above the law.
- sHockz, on 05/22/2009, -1/+19ohhhh now they all decide to listen to Ron Paul....i think they are all latching on to Ron Paul because the repub party is failing, and Ron Paul is the only beacon of light for them. he is the only one who stands for truth and justice under the constitution. good job republicans in choosing palin/mccain for your rodeo when you could have just listened to Ron all along.
not saying i don't approve of them co-sponsoring this bill, i just find it quite ironic and outright silly. first they condemn Ron Paul and wont even let him talk at the convention, now they all want to jump on the bandwagon. - macinit1138, on 05/22/2009, -4/+22Dugg for Ron Paul, but honestly, the ruling elite simply don't have to obey as demonstrated time and time again.
- Logicexe, on 05/22/2009, -2/+19I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I like Obama but so far he hasn't done very much to prove that he's in favor of transparency. He's signed several bills without making them available 5 days before like he promised on the campaign. He's invoked executive privilege on warrant less wiretapping to protect AT&T and the NSA from investigation and he recently refused to disclose the information about detainee abuse.
I know that it's still very early and things could be totally different next year after he's had time to settle but right now his actions are not consistent with someone who wants to fight tooth and nail for transparency. - tgc1, on 05/22/2009, -0/+17After it is audited, and the people find out what it has been doing, i'd wager they will burn it to the ground. Ending it and getting rid of it in the same instance.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/findyourreps.xpd - govtdoesnotwork, on 05/22/2009, -4/+19How does the growing number of cosponsors this bill is getting show anything besides the fact that, once again, reality is the exact opposite of what you claim, especially when it comes to anything about the object of your obsession.
- SLouisCharles, on 05/22/2009, -2/+16Okay Everyone. Although I don't care for politics I believe this is one of the most important pieces of legislation that needs to get past.
We need to start a HUGE movement for this. Email your representative with either a thanks for supporting or to support H.R. 1207.
An email is fine but make sure it mentions H.R. 1207 by name.

- h8f8kes, on 05/22/2009, -1/+15They make it easy to contact them with an on-line form linked below. Mine (or his staff) replied back proving his support for this important measure. It is time the Fed opened the books to scrutiny.
https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml - chesterogilvie, on 05/22/2009, -2/+15Yeah, Ron Paul makes a mean steak. What a cook!
Seriously though, it's great that you support this bill. - chesterogilvie, on 05/22/2009, -4/+17"I like his fans even less"
That's the problem with people like you. You see politics as a popularity contest and a competition.
"This SUNDAY at Madison Square Garden - Democrats vs. Republicans in a no holds barred CAGE MATCH".
Entertainers have fans, Statesmen have supporters. - mah2cent, on 05/22/2009, -5/+18And how exactly is it crazy? It (the FED) has monopoly powers to create money out of thin air, without approval of anyone. That is called inflation of the money supply. And what is the result of inflating the money supply? Price inflation. Since the creation of the FED by and for bankers in 1913, the dollar as lost 93% of its value. It is simple math; if it originally took 1000 1 dollar bills to equal $1000. and the FED creates another 1000 1dollar bills, how much do you think that 1 dollar bill is now worth. $2000? That is insane. So, ending the FED would help resolve the problem of price inflation with ends up having all goods and services costing more, pushes wage earners into higher tax brackets (bracket creep) and therefore requiring you to pay more in taxes. The counterfeiting of the currency is a clever way in which government can and does "finance" unpopular programs that the politicians know that they would have problems if they had to increase taxes.
As for your socialist views that government should "help and support those who need it" just who do you think is actually doing the helping? It is the taxpayer! This is nothing more that a ponzi scheme of transferring wealth from one or more groups of people to other (favored) groups of people. Just like the current scheme of bailing out people who purchased overpriced homes without having to qualify for them and now the government is going to take money from the taxpayers to make those mortgage payments. So, your view is that it not the responsibility of these idiots but every one else's responsibility. You must be one of the recipients to hold that view. JUST COUNT ME OUT OF YOUR SCHEME! I am busy taking care of myself; and if I wanted to help someone that has a problem, I do not need the government forcing me to do so, I can handle that all by myself. - jaymzdean, on 05/22/2009, -3/+15The only group that's been rock-solid in their perspective, predicted all this happening, and are offering sensible, potential solutions or steps in the right direction, and you feel the need to call them 'tards.
Buried. - bu4ik, on 05/22/2009, -0/+12And then he abolished the first central bank... and then Jackson abolished the second central bank.
- Thinbev, on 05/22/2009, -1/+13Democrats and Republicans have no reason to disagree on this. We must audit the unregulated private Federal Reserve Bank!
- compulsive1, on 05/22/2009, -4/+16But his cabinet and close advisers are financial world hawks. Obama will not allow an open audit of the Fed. They will come up with all kinds of national security reasons or trade secrets reasons why it's not a good idea to let everyone know just how much our finances are screwed. And I bet all of you Obama supporters will run with it and applaud him- as always.
- samsmartjr, on 05/22/2009, -11/+22I do NOT want Ron Paul for President, but I do think that it's a good idea for him to get Congress to audit the Fed. An institution as large as the Federal Reserve deserves to be audited every so often. In fact, I think it should be audited periodically just to ensure no unethical are perpetuated by it.
- fieryseraph, on 05/22/2009, -1/+12I sent a letter to my rep, Wolf in VA, asking him to co-sponsor. He sent me back a letter that essentially said, "If it makes it to the floor, I will consider your comments." Ugh. Thanks for nothing.
- mikemx7f, on 05/22/2009, -0/+11Politicians are almost unanimously pandering *****, so this is expected. And welcome I might add, as doing the right thing for the wrong reasons is usually the only way politicians do the right thing.
- jbmcb, on 05/22/2009, -3/+14> Anyone who thinks an audit of the FED will give them total knowledge
It's better than what we have now, which is nothing.
> This would be a propaganda bill
Based on what information? - mulock, on 05/22/2009, -3/+14Media propaganda machine for the win. It's the same reason most people do not know who Noam Chomsky is.
- Libertaire, on 05/22/2009, -0/+11For them to audit the Fed? I'd say you'd need to get double that and you still couldn't be sure that the Senate would pass it.
