- Shuk, on 02/08/2008, -46/+223This guy is the definition of "douchebag". His campaign consisted of overspending, and stupid pandering. Good riddance!
- treelovinhippie, on 02/08/2008, -20/+132Now if we can just get rid of Huckabee we can avoid another theocracy.
- colosis, on 02/08/2008, -13/+123please let McCain and Huckabee quit too...
- SheilaNoya, on 02/08/2008, -44/+147I'm glad I'm not a loyal Republican voter right now. Their only remaining choices all suck.
- a war mongering old man who is hated by the conservative base
- a religious extremist who denies science and preaches about the End Times in his sermons
- a libertarian who can't get anyone to vote for him
No wonder the Republican vote counts are dwindling, while the Democratic voters are coming out in record numbers. - akatherder, on 02/08/2008, -4/+107Then you're stuck with McCain's bombocracy.
- Sturmhouse, on 02/08/2008, -17/+95I can't believe all of the Obama supporters coming on here to bash Romney. Is Digg honestly so naive as to buy into his "change" ***** like the rest of the country? With the current political climate, all anyone had to do was come into the presidential running and scream "change!" And I guess you'll all come running. There isn't a candidate out there aside from Ron Paul or Mike Gravel who has talked about how they're going to keep this country from going ***** bankrupt. Pretty sad so many of you so-called enlightened ones are still buying into the B.S. political rhetoric these special interest-run hacks are feeding you. I thought the collective internet was smarter than that.
- birdly, on 02/08/2008, -7/+72This guy is so slick that they shouldn't say he's pulling out of the race. He's sliding out.
- kenvsryu, on 02/08/2008, -27/+91Ron Paul is third now!!! w00t
- luteslinger, on 02/08/2008, -8/+68You forgot Ron Paul. Huck will bail soon. McCain will have a stroke. That leaves Ron Paul.
- Kohaxx, on 02/08/2008, -4/+45Mitt grew up in an environment where religious beliefs were kept private and even though his family didn't drink his father would have alcohol in his home solely for his guests that didn't share his beliefs. Honestly, I think out of the three of them, Romney was the least likely to shove his personal views down the nation's throat.
- p51d007, on 02/08/2008, -5/+45Congrats to whoever the democrat nominee ends up being. I'm sitting this one out.
I can't stand the NONconservative John "I was a vietnam war hero" McCain. Yes, thank you for your service,
but a true hero doesn't shove it in our faces 24/7 just to get elected. I'll vote for the democrat before I vote
for you. - sgtpppr, on 02/08/2008, -0/+38People want to be part of the winning team. Watch how many Giants hats you see this year.
- DeltaOne, on 02/08/2008, -9/+46I'm sure he'll change his mind shortly and get back in, like he did on most of the issues.
- vagrantwade, on 02/08/2008, -24/+60Good. Let someone else lose the national election to Obama.
- whitkicks, on 02/08/2008, -4/+36not that i was going to ever vote for him...but why was the first line "he was mormon"? Really? neat...I think there were more important things....
- quaxon, on 02/08/2008, -2/+34what i find quite funny is that typically the incumbent vice president gets the party nomination after a presidents done 8 years, Cheney knows he has absolutely no chance and isnt even trying.
- sorensilk, on 02/08/2008, -11/+42Romney actually said "In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror." What a freakin' moron.
- enzomedici, on 02/08/2008, -0/+26Cheney's run the country for 8 years, he's tired of doing it.
- tidu, on 02/08/2008, -2/+22Hehe, RP might just win by default ;)
- Dragular, on 02/08/2008, -2/+21That's IT. Maybe if we can convince McCain he has no chance to win the general election, and convince Mike Huckabee that Jesus doesn't approve of him being in the race, they'll HAVE to nominate Ron Paul!
- effinboy, on 02/08/2008, -11/+29Oh SNAP! THERE'S A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION GOING ON?!
- KennMac, on 02/08/2008, -8/+25Perhaps because despite the fund raising and a decent following, he barely got a peep out of MSM throughout the whole thing. You're not going to get votes if no one knows about you.
Call me a nut all you want, but experts everywhere all agree that MSM failed the American people this time around. Just look at how they tried to sell Guiliani. - Conwaysb0718, on 02/08/2008, -15/+31Which Romney were you watching? Apparently there were a few of them with vastly different political stances running around...
- Shaggy6ster, on 02/08/2008, -3/+18I wouldn't be so sure that we're rid of him yet. He bowed out pretty early, and honorably. He wasn't doing much worse that McCain, really. Makes me think that he's positioning himself for the VP nomination under McCain. That's smart. He could have stuck around and tried to smear his was into the lead, but that would have only made them both look bad. I don't necessarily agree with him, be he seems to know what he's doing.
- CannibalTom, on 02/08/2008, -5/+20You don't have to settle for Obama, when you got Ron Paul.
- Pebcak, on 02/08/2008, -8/+22Useless as a vote for Ron Paul? At least the Ron Paul voters still have a candidate. At least their votes weren't as useless as a vote for Mitt Romney.
- Schmapdi, on 02/08/2008, -2/+15Huckabee doesn't really have a chance at winning. Mccain would have to eat a baby on TV or something to even have a chance at losing now.
- ncairns, on 02/08/2008, -41/+53Are you KIDDING me!?
The Paulies have attacked EVERYONE except their Messiah. - DTJunkie07, on 02/08/2008, -17/+29About time.
- subcomandante, on 02/08/2008, -1/+13HEEEEELLLLLLLL YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAH.
- haiduz, on 02/08/2008, -13/+25nope, romney stil has like 6x more dellegates
- philipl411, on 02/08/2008, -1/+12I remember when McCain was insulting Romney for being rich, Romney should have countered that he at least earned his not married it like McCain did
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -13/+24OMG yes thank god, his principles and ideas did not even make sense, he has done nothing but donate millions of dollars to churches. I saw him on Jay Leno a while back, all he talked about was his family and children, thats it, Ron Paul came on before and talked about his ideas which are always fascinating IMHO.
- funktimus, on 02/08/2008, -12/+23Great... We're down to Huckabee, McCain, Obama, Hillary. So a religious fanatic, a war-monger, a parrot who's favorite word is change, and a trash-talking bitch. I love my options for this election.
i guess I'll go with Obama. - urworstdaydream, on 02/08/2008, -4/+14Now you can vote for Ron Paul!
- tendonut, on 02/08/2008, -3/+12It's like 'only' coming in second place in a 2-man race.
Still, RP2008! - nirvanix, on 02/08/2008, -0/+9Makes you wonder. Wait I think I see. Romney is not extreme enough to push voters over to Clinton so he was ordered to quit. If McCrazy wins the GOP nomination, people will stampede to Clinton. Isn't it funny how the White House, Anne Coulter, Bill O'Retard have been plugging Hillary over the last month.
- Daniel591992, on 02/08/2008, -8/+17Sarcasm? hopefully....
- ianandris, on 02/08/2008, -0/+9Reasons he did poorly:
1. He's a mormon. Why would a self respecting evangelical vote for Romney when they have Huck there ready to represent them? If Romney was a mainline protestant, there's no question he'd be the nominee. Flip flopping aside (which, realistically, is a non issue), he's got an impressive record and he's well qualified (Business AND law degrees from Harvard).
2. He put too much faith in his advisors. He has relatively little experience in elected office (4 years as governer), and so, understandably, he trusted their expertise. My impression is that they produced a plan, and stuck to it. Thing is, the plan was built for someone other than Mitt. His positions required a different tact. Good plan, would have been a sure fire path to the nomination, but it required someone with the history of, say, Fred Thompson.
3. Media loves a story. By all accounts, he fares much better on the stump than he does in national media. What's more sensational, that Romney was an excellent businessman, or that he flip flopped on abortion? That he did a good job as a governer resolving the budget crisis, or that he's a "phony"? That he epitomizes middle American values, or that he claimed to be a lifelong hunter when he had, in fact, been only once? Of all the republican candidates, he got the worst press BY FAR.
So, is he a douchebag? I think it's a harsh assessment. He's a victim of circumstance. I think that he will be judged less harshly next time he runs (count on it happening). - CannibalTom, on 02/08/2008, -1/+10Mitt is OUT of the race.
- madmonkey300, on 02/08/2008, -1/+10Mike Gravel. :(
- Mothrog, on 02/08/2008, -1/+10When Hillary's the DNC's top pick, I wouldn't be proud to be a liberal, either.
- zachwood, on 02/08/2008, -5/+13@mordeci
what the ***** are you talking about? Did you even watch the clip you posted? It has nothing to do with religion. All he is saying is that issues should in hands of the state, not the federal government which is exactly what Paul has run on his entire career. - inactive, on 02/08/2008, -4/+12Except the modern Mormon church opposes polygamy and has opposed it for over 100 years.
- InferiorWang, on 02/08/2008, -3/+11With the Bush administration's approval rating I wouldn't try either.
- Herolint, on 02/08/2008, -1/+9So you don't take any deeper political interest in somebody other than how they look and the feelings you have about them? That's dumb. Unfortunately, that is also 90% of America.
- BEloftyIRONS, on 02/08/2008, -5/+13Good bye Ward Clever. You sure ran a swell campaign.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -6/+14 Nearly every modern presidential election (not primary) is between a douchebag and a turd sandwich. Al Gore, Kerry, Mondale, Carter, and Dukakis were all douche bags. Bush 41 became a douchebag when he broke his promise not to raise taxes. So the douchebag always loses. The only exception to was when two douchebag were running (Carter and Ford). McCain and Obama are both douchebags while Hillary is more of a turd sandwich. So if the election is between Hillary and McCain, Hillary will win. Between Obama and McCain it's a tough call due to the smaller sample size; however, I suspect it is easier for a democrat douchebag to get elected than a republican douchebag. Thus, it is very unlikely that McCain will be elected President.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/08/2008, -2/+10CNN: "What do you hate most about America?"
Mitt Romney: [laugh] "I love America." - JonForTheWin, on 02/08/2008, -3/+11Yes because Ron Paul's best friends run the establishment press . . oh wait.
