- maliath, on 07/02/2009, -3/+35In a lot of instances, I understand the arguments from opponents of Obama and his policies. This, however, is an instance of a person that is mindless and who has no cogent argument. You diminish credibility of your 'side'. Please refrain from posting unless you have a cogent argument.
Sincerely,
An Obama supporter (mostly). - Shaggy6ster, on 07/02/2009, -3/+27First thing on the agenda, take all of David Niven's money and guns and distribute them amongst ourselves. Then we wipe our asses with his bible, and outlaw country music.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -8/+32...while Norm Coleman sits at home and sorts his sock drawer
- Murraythenut, on 07/01/2009, -10/+33Senator Franken. I like the sound of that...
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -8/+30Thank god that the Norm Coleman nightmare is over...
- Shaggy6ster, on 07/02/2009, -3/+24Especially coming out of Bill O'Reily's mouth.
- rabidjester, on 07/02/2009, -1/+20After forcing him into a gay wedding.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -14/+32***** You Norm Coleman.

- Shaggy6ster, on 07/02/2009, -2/+14non-funny digger (using the term loosely) who has a history of pointing out what is wrong with everybody else, now has a chance to be the target (of ridicule) that he so richley deserves.

"GOP incumbent Norm Coleman conceded gracefully"
After everything that has happened and the number of times Coleman should have conceded already saying that he conceded gracefully isn't entirely honest. He made a nice statement after exhausting every last option he had available to him, but he didn't concede the election without fighting tooth and nail before he ended it.
"We have reached the point where further litigation damages the unity of our state, which is also fundamental."
...after 7 months of being divisive jackass, making very divisive claims, he starts to care about unity of his state...sure. This is the "save face" portion of the concession, a true steaming pile of "honest" regret over the fact that he lost.
"The Dems have such a wide umbrella that finding issues that unite both ends of the 60-vote spectrum can be tough. "
As annoying as this is, it is almost nice knowing that the Democratic party isn't a group which blindly follows a party line at all times. It means that they are independent thinkers, rather than blindly following the party line. It would be NICE if they could actually decided to use their power to affect some actual progressive change rather than compromising everything. - Shaggy6ster, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11Damnit, the gay wedding was a surprise. You ruined it.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 07/02/2009, -0/+10So what part of the Minnesota election do you feel was not handled properly, except for the part where your guy lost?
Stop whining like a little bitch. Every ballot was triple counted, every absentee ballot was reviewed by both parties. You've got nothing. - ApokalypseNow, on 07/02/2009, -0/+10Wow, Niven actually believes that Obama is a Kenyan? How does it feel to live in a fantasy world?
- kingmanic, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11Well... I support the outlawing of country music. Everything except cash and nelson.
- lordmike, on 07/02/2009, -6/+15Paul Wellstone is smiling again in heaven...
- j0en, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10Forget a /s there?
Also DavidNiven's average digg rating is a -4.83. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10@David: Most liberals generally tolerate civil, well-spoken, educated conservatives with no problem. I wonder why that wouldn't include you?
- diggdiggerid, on 07/02/2009, -4/+13This country was founded on socialism. Government-run roads, police, firefighters, military (private corporations like Blackwater are many times more efficient), post office, etc etc...the list goes on and on. Name ONE industry in the United States that wasn't run by the government under Bush, Reagan, or any other president. You can't do it because no such thing existed. We have always been a socialist country so I don't know how Obama could possibly make it any worse.
- avataros, on 07/01/2009, -9/+17The threat of a supermajority will always be the monkey on the 'pubs back.
Not that the dems have any spine to do anything with a supermajority. Hell, I don't think they have the spine to act like they own a simple majority. God, I wish the dems had a ruthless ideological enforcer goon like Tom DeLay or Mitch McConnell to push some crazy legislation through. - novenator, on 07/02/2009, -1/+9visionary, the majority of the last 30 years has been dominated by conservative political philosophy, and consequently GOP control of an ever increasingly powerful executive branch. They wrecked the country, so yeah, I'm siding with the Democrats, you should too.
Further, the Republicans continue to obstruct, attack, and create an atmosphere of fear and paranoia that has lead to many a record # of filibusters, no possibility of bipartisanship, and even deaths (George Tiller, Pittsburgh, etc.). - paigeinphilly, on 07/02/2009, -3/+10and color code his underwears.
- lordmike, on 07/02/2009, -9/+16Time to bust up the obstructionism from the party of No... Why do Republicans hate America so much?
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -2/+9Obama is clearly far too safe and moderate to make any radical changes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people like davidniven listen to way too much Rush Limbaugh.
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -1/+8Yeah too many kenyans takin' american jobs. !
Yaw want a root beer? - SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -4/+11Let's end *social* conservatism once and for all.
- IgorUnchained, on 07/02/2009, -5/+12While I love the idea of Al (or any worthwhile comedian) becoming a Senator, I dont think his vote is the one standing between me and the "Hope" and "Change" that the Obama administration was championing during the election.
We arent an Al Franken away from Health Care, Sensible Drug Policy, Justice for the criminals in the last administration, or the transparency we deserve from our government.
It is a small step in the right direction though, and there is always something to be said for that. - inactive, on 07/01/2009, -6/+13Who does All take over for as "Funniest Senator"?
- eMximeR, on 07/02/2009, -6/+12NOW THAT LIBERAL AGENDA IS GOING TO DRIVE GOD OUT OF AMERICA.
GOD HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOULS
/s - ThsGuyRightHere, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6Okay David, then you're an idiot without help from others. Congratulations.
- draculthemad, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Whats bricking the GM/Chrysler unions:
Health Care.
Japan has a nationalized health system. Weather its optimum or not is arguable. But the fact is that they don't have to pay for the insurance of their workers in Japan. Thats a rather sizable competitive advantage when you look at it.
Not to mention Japanese standards of executive compensation are entirely different from what prevails in the U.S. - Bartboy919, on 07/02/2009, -4/+9QUICK, move to Canada, OH WAIT, they have universal health care, *****, ok Mexico here we come. ***** I forgot about the swine flu. DAMN IT. Well at least Hoduras looks legit. *****, MILITARY COUP!?!?!? ***** it, Iran aint that bad. ***** HELLL, riots in the streeets? GOD DAMNNNNNN IT. well, maybe Japan would be ok. - Elranzer, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5DavidNiven, you should get your own show on Fox News.
- Anightowl, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4Al Franken scares the heck out of me as a politician.
- skipvt, on 07/02/2009, -3/+7I don't know Al, just remember him from SNL. Is it just me, or does he look like a total douche?
- nicc, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4Barney Frank is not a Senator. he is a Congressman.
- undervalued, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4....all with an angry grin.
- dsmx, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5The other 49.99% of people are morons who don't deserve a vote
- Bartboy919, on 07/02/2009, -2/+6PLEASE HELP US SKY MAN!!!!!
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Say dumb things, expect to get called on it. So don't play the victim. :)
- MacEnvy, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4DavidNiven, frankly, I would not be surprised to hear that you don't listen to or read any news whatsoever. Old Bubba Joe down at the gas station gives you all the news updates you need, I'm sure.
- j0en, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Hey David, you realize that everyone makes personal attacks in political debate including conservatives so don't ***** act holier than thou. Your a sick sick person, who is very confused. If Reagan hadn't closed all the mental hospitals you'd be in there.
- WasabiBomb, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3You'd have a point... if Coleman hadn't asked Franken to concede before the counts had been originally counted.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3I have no interest in ending conservatism... just keeping it in check. All things in moderation.
- Deausx, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3I wish I could digg you twice. This guys concession speech is so transparent its laughable.
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4I might agree with you, visionaryIX, if the major players of the republican party demonstrated any of this "intelligence" of which you speak, but unfortunately they haven't. I don't think it is productive to pretend otherwise until they start making some sense again. That or some sort of change in leadership.
- Anightowl, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Go check his political views. He looks like what he is.
- MacEnvy, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Oops, yep, sorry, I'm retarded.
