- jodimcmullen, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6There are thousands of people who can''t get treatment for early stage cancer unless they are able to prepay tens of thousands for surgery, chemo and radiation. Even once your cancer is considered terminal and you get on Social Security Disability you have to live at least 6 months to get your first check, and 18 months before medicare is available. Many cancer victims die within that period after paying in for years and years.
