- wishninja, on 11/05/2007, -1/+46I use it for the flu, insomnia, back pain, headaches, cold relief, restless leg syndrome, high blood pressure, stress and boredom.
- nicholai, on 10/24/2007, -3/+35You're living proof that people don't need to use drugs to become retarded. Stop stalking me you neocon scum bag. I wish I could ban people from commenting on my posts because everything you say is utter *****.
BTW: For the 100th time, I am a libertarian so stop calling us "liberals"! How can you really be this retarded? Libertarians want smaller government. At least liberals are better than neocons like you because they do have some respect for privacy and civil rights. The world will be a better place when neocons are buried alive. - banq59, on 10/24/2007, -1/+29Like always cigarettes and alcohol are legal and cause more deaths than pot (which causes 0 every year). I can't even believe people can support the prohibition of marijuana without completely lying to themselves.
- MasterThief117, on 11/02/2007, -0/+25The government is ***** retarded. I do not understand how blind they can be from the facts that show that marijuana IS medicinally useful and beneficial with LITTLE negative side-effects, unlike most other drugs. It currently costs US taxpayers about 12-14 billion dollars annually to keep this drug illegal and those “blood thirsty criminals” in jail. For some reason, the government is also blind to the monetary incentive of over 40 billion dollars in taxation profits. As much as I love my country, I hate the people who run it.
- nicholai, on 11/05/2007, -9/+33People only support the "war on drugs" because of greed and power. I would like to see everyone that supports this "drug war" locked in cages and left to starve to death so they can see what it's like.
- SeethisPass, on 10/30/2007, -1/+22 The government pushes toxic drugs heavily, therefore the idea of a drug free society is deceitful.
I agree with the comment above, the decision to keep pot illegal is strictly based on greed.
The greatest value of many of the approved toxic drugs that are touted and subsidized by our drug pushing government is just to create higher levels of consumerism, while providing ugly side effects that can be treated by buying and using ever greater amounts of toxic but legal drugs, which in turn produce more side effects to be treated with more toxic drugs. That's the very thing they claim to be fighting against.
The ability of marijuana, on the other hand, to recharge, refresh and enlighten is an incalculably greater contribution to society. - jeremy1967, on 11/02/2007, -0/+20Here's the simple question that no marijuana prohibitionist seems to be able or want to answer -
Why should marijuana be illegal and explain why shouldn't this same reason apply to alcohol as well?
Give an honest, reasonable answer supported by facts and I'll shut up on the issue forever. Any takers? - Sle3per, on 11/05/2007, -0/+19He was talking about the people that use marijuana because they can't eat due to illness and disease, not prison
- dreagen, on 11/05/2007, -0/+15It works great for Restless leg syndrom. I wish the Government would allow the research to be done on this. I blame my insomnia on RLS since I can actually be asleep and wake up to the discomfort in my legs but 2 quick hits and I am good to go.
- banq59, on 10/24/2007, -2/+15Facts aren't propaganda. Saying marijuana is bad for you is propaganda. fascist.
- bloqmon, on 10/27/2007, -2/+15I agree, cannabis is good for just about anything. For a long time I had a very anti-drug/anti-alcohol stance and it was mostly based upon what teachers/parents told me. Once I began to do my own research I learned that much of what I had been told was lies and so I decided to try smoking bud in college. It has changed my life for the better and many people find that hard to believe. I have gained more direction and more motivation in my life since I began smoking and I have a much more positive, optimistic outlook on life. I also notice the medicinal benefits. Every once in a while I have mild anxiety attacks and I lose any ability to focus on work, but if I smoke a little bit I can calm down and easily do my schoolwork. I have also been very skinny my entire life due to an extremely high metabolism (I'm 6'4" and just over 155lbs) and nothing I would do would help me put on weight. If only I had a gram for everytime someone said "You need to eat more and get some meat on those bones." Once I started smoking I noticed my appetite increased and I began gaining weight for the first time in over 5 years. Then recently I was arrested at school with a bowl/pipe--thats it no cannabis or anything else. My school gave me 45 hours of community service and forced me to take an "Honor and Integrity Class" as if I had no morals or values (the class didn't even address substance abuse!). I also received a summons for the local court. I've been to court twice so far without being sentenced because the courts are entirely backed up with marijuana possession cases. Everyone involved is acting like I stabbed or raped someone, its unbelievable and depressingly idiotic. I try to explain to them that what I did only affects me, and in a good way, but they have already determined that I'm a vicious criminal that will destroy society if I am not rehabilitated. It is absolutely ridiculous.
Sorry about the rant. It just got very personal once I was arrested. - dreagen, on 10/24/2007, -0/+13Don't forget Aspirin on average causes 500 deaths per year and my kids can go up to the counter and by that.
- internetcoward, on 10/26/2007, -1/+14LoneRanger85, I am happy to announce that you have won the stupidest-thing-I-have-heard-on-digg-all-week award. The competition was stiff, between picachu's vagina, rudy gulianni, and two articles with 'wii' replacing 'we' in the title, but you beat them ALL!! CONGRATS!!!!!
- Frei, on 10/24/2007, -1/+13Loner you seem angry, did you forget to take your gov't supported Paxil, Ambien, Viagra, Ritalin today? Are you suffering from cold sweats, nausea, vomiting, shakes, and in some cases coma and death?
- jeremy1967, on 10/25/2007, -1/+12"Grow up and become a responsible adult."
Who says we haven't? There are many intelligent, successful, responsible individuals that use marijuana. Just as there are people who drink responsibly, there are people who smoke marijuana responsibly. Unfortunately, the consequences of irresponsible drinking are far, far greater than those of over-indulging in marijuana. - doctorfungi, on 10/26/2007, -0/+11Although I agree with you, I am a conservative as well, and I have nothing at all against Marijuana.
- dgendreau, on 10/30/2007, -0/+9I have a friend who uses MJ occasionally to control her IBS symptoms. It works very well and halts what would have been several days of severe abdominal cramping.
She bought a MJ vaporizer earlier this year and swears by it because it produces almost no smoke (she has asthma) and you can get the same dose of THC from only 1/4 as much MJ as smoking, so it saves you money too. - Coven, on 10/30/2007, -0/+9Yes, there are plenty of legal drugs, owned by the pharmaceutical corporations. Those corporations charge exorbitant amounts for these legal drugs. Marijuana on the other hand, is easy and cheap to grow, and cannot be controlled by a patent. Now do you begin to see why the drug companies are so afraid of marijuana?
- jeremy1967, on 10/25/2007, -0/+9Boy, where to start?
"Alcoholism is recognized as a valid medical problem" And marijuana use is not. Most people use it responsibly and it is near impossible to overdose on.
"potheads will sit around stoned for basically their entire lives" This is a broad generalization reflecting your opinion and is certainly not supported by any facts (remember when I asked for those pesky things?)
"denying that they have any sort of a problem whatsoever" Just because you view any user as marijuana as someone with a problem does not make it so. Remember, we are talking about personal responsibility. There are plenty of responsible people drinking alcohol. Do you consider every drinker then to be in denial of a problem?
"If you really don't see any difference between pot and alcohol" I never said that. I asked why the same laws shouldn't apply to alcohol in light of the fact that the potential for alcohol abuse is MUCH, MUCH GREATER than that of marijuana use. I my opinion, there is a huge difference between the two. The biggest difference being that marijuana is a much safer substance.
"the obvious fact that a casual pot user is getting WAY more ***** up than a casual drinker." This "fact" is only obvious to you. By your own admission, you don't smoke or drink. How can you even say which is more debilitating? Trust me, you are more impared when drunk than while high. That being said, I don't advocate driving/using heavy machinery/etc while under the influence of ANY substance. Once again, it's all about personal responsibility. - Pureeviljester, on 10/24/2007, -0/+9hey loneranger, if you surrender your rights we can catch Osama!
- internetcoward, on 10/24/2007, -0/+8You cant forget the CIA's involvement of introducing heroin to troops in vietnam. USA! USA!
- MasterThief117, on 10/24/2007, -1/+9By "unlike most other drugs," I meant to say that most other drugs have high risks associated with using them. A major one is overdoseing, which is virtually impossible with marijuana.
- SignOfHope, on 10/30/2007, -0/+8makes me take good pictures and concentrate on schoolwork.
- banq59, on 10/25/2007, -0/+8Dude I got so ***** high last night...I ate a whole bag of cheetos.
Dude I got so ***** drunk last night...I raped a freshman.
Hmmmm. - mixplate, on 10/24/2007, -0/+7as i get older, stress is becoming alive in my life lately(anxiety, high blood pressure, PVCs, etc...). i think i would prefer to something all natural vs chemicals brewed in a lab. however, i would try natural supplements, diet, and exercise before all else.
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -1/+8i dont know about all that medicinal stuff, but it makes my online gaming a whole lot funner.
- gropo, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7A person I knew suffered a bad embolism in the left hemisphere of his brain at age 25 or so. Initially his speech was pretty much unintelligble, lost almost all motion in the right half of his body. A few years in to his ordeal I saw him in town again and he expressed the manner in which taking a couple hts of weed allowed him access to sensory perceptions again. Absolutely mind blowing. He's pretty much fully recovered at this point.
I've also found that a little cannabis before weight lifting reps turns it from "you're working for me you little bitches!" to "oh yeah, my muscles want smoooth, non jerky motions. Oh right that feels good that way." An attitude that's easily carried in to non-cannabis weightlifting sessions. - RJGII, on 11/02/2007, -0/+7Don't forget that it also helps kill certain cancers/curb cancer growth: http://www.safeaccessnow.org/article.php?id=748
- hobonetweaver, on 10/24/2007, -0/+7Therein lies the difference between a true conservative and the new breed of neocons.
- g30ph, on 10/25/2007, -0/+7***** like you are the adverse effect of pot.
- MacEnvy, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7It also works great for restless brain syndrome. Can't sleep? 2 quick hits and I am good to go.
- jeremy1967, on 10/24/2007, -0/+7"Heavy use can cause them to lose their impetus in life".
Sorry, but I also asked for facts to back up your argument. If you are going to make a blanket statement you need to do more than parrot the false propaganda. The fact is, I know MANY regular, habitual users of marijuana that lead active productive lives.
Also, you failed to explain why this reason (i.e. basically marijuana use has a negative effect on people's life) is not a valid point for making alcohol illegal. I can find numerous examples of lives utterly destroyed by alcohol use. - WarpFox, on 11/05/2007, -2/+8I've been to jail. you are ALWAYS hungry, and the meals they do give you are nutritionally void.
- bratpack8, on 10/24/2007, -0/+6I've posted this before, but I have a hard time trying to legalize marijuana solely for its medicinal uses. It should be legal because that is called freedom. Freedom is impossible without property rights, which include your person. If you don't violate other people's rights, which putting something into your own body certainly does not do, then if you are not allowed to do this (by government force), then you are not free. It is that simple.
- Corrosionx, on 10/30/2007, -0/+6Idiot. Let the sick people decide for themselves what works best for them. For a sick man like Steve Kubby, nothing but marijuana will help. If it can just help 1 guy it shouldn't be illegal at all.
- Corrosionx, on 10/24/2007, -0/+6"I have the right not to smell it." --To the point of throwing users in jail?
- doctorfungi, on 10/24/2007, -3/+9I buried him for you ;)
- Corrosionx, on 10/25/2007, -0/+6Having it illegal goes against the American character of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
- HotBaconSauce, on 10/24/2007, -0/+6Are you pulling most of your information out of your ass? Was this all learned in 5th grade health?
- sqwirl, on 11/05/2007, -1/+7Way to miss the point.
- PinkFloydFan, on 10/24/2007, -1/+6One time I popped a rib out of where it connects to my spine while skateboarding. The doctors said they couldn't do anything (and wouldn't give me pain meds because it was a college clinic) and said it would "pop back into place in a few weeks." I couldn't stand up, sit down, walk, sneeze (that was the worst), cough, or move without being in a great deal of pain.
That's when I switched from a "recreational" to a "medicinal" user for a few weeks. - Coven, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5@floorman56: There is a HUGE difference between morphine and marijuana. It is VERY easy to overdose on morphine. On the other hand, it is downright IMPOSSIBLE to overdose on marijuana, hence no real need for dosage. There is no danger whatsoever to utilizing marijuana. If a Doctor wants to prescribe cannabis to a 7 year old, that is perfectly fine.
- Corrosionx, on 10/24/2007, -1/+6We don't want to join the drug war because we don't believe we have a right to tell other people what they can do with their own body, unlike you pricks who support the drug war.
Every victim of drug-related organized crime is your fault for supporting the black market in the first place. - Gimpi, on 10/26/2007, -1/+6No, therein lies the difference of people who have common sense and logic as opposed to those who believe what they are force fed as a child and young adult without questioning authority at all in their life.
Liberal/conservative/libertarian/independent/etc has very little to nothing to do with it. - mashw, on 10/24/2007, -0/+5Never smoked dope in my life and don't intend to but I just don't see it as particularly 'liberal' to have autonomy over what substances I put into my body, the world will NOT go to ***** if cannabis was legalized.
The only people who benefit by the war on drugs are the dealers they're profit margins will just keep growing the harder it is to get stuff. - TheSexyGeek, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5I agree. If marijuana makes people complacent, how is that worse than being drunk. Alcohol makes people violent. What's worse? Angry drunk, or pacifist Pothead?
- MacEnvy, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5Try an indica variety instead of a sativa/mix. Sativa makes me get lost in thought, indica makes me pass out.
- Phrag, on 10/24/2007, -1/+6'Liberals' don't keep the drug market going. Organized crime does. The consumers of drugs come from all parts of the political spectrum as shown by both Clinton and Bush admitting to drug use in the past. You can try to fight a war with the organized crime syndicates to stop them from distributing the drug, but since they have infiltrated and corrupted almost every government in the world, include America's, this would be a battle on par with WWII or worse. The other option is to have a completely drug free society, which is some thing that has never happened in the history or recorded human civilization.
If conservatives would act like true conservatives, then they would see that with a fraction of the resources and effort put into the drug war, they could enact a sustainable and sane drug law system which would benefit both people with substance abuse problems and society as a whole.
You should also add a warning to that article you linked to stating "Scientists cannot rule out that pre-existing conditions could have led to both marijuana use and later psychoses." - jeremy1967, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5"there are more alcoholics because alcohol is legal" - You saying it doesn't make it so. Provide the facts (like I originally asked) to support your view please.
"So, legal alcohol is a FAILURE" - Remember something called prohibition? That was a bigger failure. How do you think organized crime came to be?
"You want to get a ban on drinking started, I'll sign your petition." - No I don't. I just want the double-standard to go away.
"You haven't made a good argument for legalizing anything." - How about personal freedom? How about the ability to do what I want with my own body so long as I don't harm anyone else in the process? - Phrag, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5How is it a 'fact' that most potheads are douchebags and not just your opinion?
