- conceptkid, on 11/13/2007, -16/+197This is rediculous. I don't understand why its legal and perfectly ok to smoke tobacco/nicotine, but its illegal to smoke marijuana. Cigarettes are alot worse for your lungs compared to marijuana. AND to add to that, I believe its illegal to grow tobacco leaves for ones personal use, which is absurd. What next, I cant grow any tomatoes? Its a ***** plant, it deserves to live. You want to look at a weed that actually does damage to the environment? Try looking at noxious weeds that take over land and ruin it. They are running rampant and destroying habitat and choking out native plants, and yet, the feds are worried about some lady getting a plant and inhaling the fumes from it when lit on fire....When did common sense stop being used in this country?
- johndoenumber2, on 11/01/2007, -21/+140That is a very sad story but worth a look because it shows just how heartless and cruel this over the top police state we live in has become.
- treelovinhippie, on 11/13/2007, -9/+121I'm just as sick with this ***** surrounding marijuana.
I used to be anti-marijuana before I was actually confronted with contradicting information which I eventually looked at and was amazed by how the government and media have lied all this time. I've since done ***** of research into both sides of the argument, and have become a bit of a marijuana advocate... not that I want to promote drug use, but I want to promote anti-ignorance. If the government and media can convince so many people that marijuana is an evil drug, imagine what they've done with other topics in the past and will do in the future.
I'm a uni student, and you would think that at uni you would find the top percentile of intelligent people in the country. Quite the opposite.
Every chance I get now, I argue marijuana with various people (especially while everyone is drunk and discussing such topics). But I've found many, many people whom I consider to be intelligent (e.g. people studying nanotechnology and engineering getting straight HDs)... and they still think marijuana causes brain damage, causes people to become violent, psychotic etc etc... and these people have ***** tried marijuana!
They continually go back to anecdotal 'evidence' whenever they are presented with scientific/statistical evidence by reputable sources (AMA, American Scientist, Universities etc). It's just ***** ILLOGICAL, IRRATIONAL and plain STUPID.
I am quite scared (even petrified) of where the human race is going. - inactive, on 10/29/2007, -4/+100"When did common sense stop being used in this country?"
When people stopped reading the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. - SheilaNoya, on 11/13/2007, -11/+102California voted to legalize medical marijuana, but the Bush Administration quickly filed suit against California to try and block the voters from deciding this issue. Currently, it's still legal under State law, but the federal government can arrest you for it under federal law. Apparently, "Democracy" doesn't mean ***** unless you agree with what the Bush Administration wants.
- Identity4, on 11/01/2007, -5/+71Weed, unlike tobacco, doesn't help greasy rich fatso businessmen executives buy yachts and mansions and lawmakers.. thus weed is illegal.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -6/+69We need to restore some humanity and get these drug warriors out of office.
If your representative voted against the Hinchey Rohrabacher amendment to the Justice department appropriations bill they need to be tossed out of office. It is sickening what these power mad control freaks are getting away with. - Jaakilju, on 11/01/2007, -4/+57Fox News, tomorrow:
Woman's marijuana taken away: committed suicide after the withdrawals got too harsh to cope with. - DeviantDragon, on 10/31/2007, -3/+55She should've tried obtaining drugs illegally. Hell, half of American high schoolers can get weed easier than they can a pack of cigs.
- topgigmedia, on 10/30/2007, -1/+33The war on drugs actually increases the use of illegal drugs and creates more instances of violence. It is truly absurd. The governemnt will permit us to consume fried foods - chemicals, tobacco products, alcohol... ... ... all because big busniess can turn profits and the gov't can benefit via tax and lobby efforts.
Pipe dream 153: What if EVERYONE together (or at least a large % of us) said, "screw it" and started smoking/growing plants all at once - would they declare martial law? National plant day: drop a handful of seed in a cup day... - xobecide, on 10/30/2007, -8/+38I smoked pot once, hated it, and won't smoke it again, but whenever my friends smoke I just grab a cigar and hang out. I'll be damned if I'm going to lose friends cause I don't agree with what they do, or because I think it's not legal and shouldn't be done. Like it's been said a million times over, what you put in your body is your business, not the business of some 70 year old white guy looking to cash in more money on a fake war.
- merwin, on 10/29/2007, -1/+31It's not just the Bush administration. All of them since the 80's have been "cracking down" on drug use, and often giving more jail time for marijuana users than for violent crimes such as rape, abuse, and robbery. With the massive corruption and lobbying by corporations, this isn't going to change anytime soon.
- Iwantawii, on 10/30/2007, -4/+32I liked this thought:
“Give me liberty or give me death,” she wrote in July. “Maybe the next campaign ought to be for assisted-suicide laws in our state. If they will not allow me to live in peace, and a little less pain, would they help me to die, humanely?” - mrASSMAN, on 10/29/2007, -1/+28Yeah I was subjected to lots of D.A.R.E. cop presentations during my elementary grade years, so I went through all that
government-sponsored propaganda. I thought marijuana was completely evil for years and that it caused mental retardation etc.. but later I realized how ***** that all was. - centerblack, on 10/30/2007, -4/+30T

L - EarlOfLade, on 10/30/2007, -3/+29Well, I have smoked weed since 1972 and continue to do so. I don't drink very often, some wine now and then and maybe a drink or two when I'm out partying. I do my job every day and I'm well respected in my field, with several awards for the work done over the years. I'm currently writing a book that is to be published next fall and is otherwise well adjusted.
I can think of many things worse than weed and which are legal and readily available, so no, not all are bad. - merwin, on 10/29/2007, -2/+28Marijuana shouldn't even be considered a drug. It's an herb that has one distinct difference between it and other drugs: It requires no processing to be effective, unlike cocaine, heroin, meth, etc. Just add heat.
- ZenMojo, on 10/30/2007, -0/+25Even if marijuana were a controlled substance, I don't see why there is the resistance to provide it as a prescription drug. There are worse prescription drugs with less positive effects currently marketed with a doctor's prescription. The FDA lets erection and diet pills that give you heart attacks with PRESCRIBED USE on the market but no marijuana that MAY cause schizophrenia in massive doses.
- SenatorChubby, on 10/30/2007, -4/+29It's a fact mother *****. NEVER ever has there been a documented case where a user has died from smoking too much herb.
Meglaize Larijuana.
- louiedog, on 10/30/2007, -3/+27Not spending money? Holy *****, better execute people who think they can live in our capitalist utopia without at least carrying a balance on their credit cards. *****, I bet she didn't even have the sports package for her cable.
- digdug2020, on 10/30/2007, -4/+27You're a pathetic individual. If you have ever seen anyone in constant pain you might at least have some compassion for this lady. I don't know about the marijuana or if it really helped or not, but for you to judge this lady and say she deserves to die, because she's a load--well this points to someone will probably end up alone and without anyone else around if something similar happens to you. I'd suggest you take a step back, develop some compassion and realize what society is about; it's not about survival of the fittest, it's about survival and furtherment of the society you live in.
- nblsavage, on 10/28/2007, -0/+20They're pulling the same ***** in Oregon as well.
- chrisxkelley, on 10/29/2007, -2/+21"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it. "
- George Bush - a6n28f, on 10/29/2007, -2/+20"It leads to psychosis and delusory states"...despite, you know, scientific evidence to support that statement and millenia of safe human usage without ill effects.
- mushoo, on 10/29/2007, -1/+19Sickening how the "State Rights Rapeublicans" will hypocritically vote against states deciding this issue on their own but are for it when it's about abortion.
That being said any ***** on either side who votes against marijuana for medical use is no better. - selphishnerd, on 10/29/2007, -1/+16So do lots of things (beer, McDonalds, cigarettes, caffeine, Windows XP) that really isn't the point...
- superdoofus, on 10/29/2007, -2/+17it's damned because it was written on paper made from hemp fibers.
- superdoofus, on 10/29/2007, -4/+19look at the lonely-lifed troll! hi troll! does the troll want some trolljuice? 'cause i have some trolljuice! iz u thursy 4 teh trolljoose, huh?
stfu when grown-ups are talking, kiddo. - inactive, on 10/31/2007, -6/+21It is easy to give a comment about medical marijuana usage. But the fact is that if you are the person suffering from extreme pain and a chronic illness, it does give relief (yes, that what was I said, it does give relief). One will not understand the medical necessity and importance of it unless you are the person sufferring or a doctor, case worker, social worker or someone who is involve in such cases. In such a case like this, we give the relief of a drug or pill to a person but we do not monitor the emotional state of person's well being in terms of depression or suicidal tendencies that goes with drug effects.
- centerblack, on 10/29/2007, -0/+15It's a ***** plant. Give it water and sun, it grows.
Tomatoes are legal, and omfg they're so ***** expensive aren't they! - topgigmedia, on 10/28/2007, -0/+14moron
- merwin, on 10/28/2007, -2/+16That's the answer. Blame the poor. Always worked in the past.
- centerblack, on 10/29/2007, -2/+16Yea, and Iraq had WMD's, Al Queda started the fires in Southern California, and Elvis is still alive.
- SIRBERUS, on 10/28/2007, -0/+14The left? You are aware that marijuana is non-partisan, right? Or do you always attempt to form things into a political agenda?
I bet you're a hoot at parties. - a6n28f, on 10/29/2007, -1/+15Belief doesn't enter into it. Repeatable experimental data does. This conclusively proves that YOU are the ignoring reality.
- DaSuHouSe, on 10/29/2007, -0/+14That's incorrect. Since McCulloch v. Maryland (1819), the Supreme Court has attempted to clarify the limits on federal power granted by the Commerce Clause of the Constitution (the one that states Congress may regulate commerce among the states). Over time federal power was expanded until the Court under FDR, where in Wickard v. Filburn (1942), the Court ruled that Congress could fine a man for growing wheat to feed his animals because by growing his own wheat, he wasn't buying it from the market and therefore it affected interstate commerce. So by that explanation just about anything I do affects interstate commerce and can be regulated by the federal government. Clearly the Supreme Court has not interpreted the Commerce Clause as it was intended by the founding fathers.
- Kyrgizion, on 10/29/2007, -1/+14Glad to see *some* people get it...
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -1/+14Just in case, anyone wanted to know:
Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. - SenatorChubby, on 10/30/2007, -0/+13so your voting for Rudy...
- ampersand2001, on 10/28/2007, -2/+14hey, the good news is that the war in iraq is going to get plenty of funding.
/sarcasm - Touchy610, on 10/29/2007, -0/+12FTA:
"Prosser suffered from an autoimmune disease that gave her allergic and dangerous reactions to most pharmaceutical painkillers."
That is all. - evilcaptain, on 10/29/2007, -0/+12If you get a few seeds in your baggy., don't throw them away!
Look for a good spot and plant them in the spring. Don't go back to them, police might have discovered them.
Try to make cannabis cover the country, remember it is a weed and will grow well nearly anwhere!
They would have to legalize it then.
Smoke a lot, plant a lot. - ZenMojo, on 10/29/2007, -4/+16I'm literally sick to my stomach after that story.
- grilkip, on 10/28/2007, -1/+13No, I feel a need to say "***** you".
Something bad will have to happen to you to gain some perspective. - shaelen, on 10/28/2007, -2/+14Do you somehow believe all laws should be obeyed? Wasn't there once a "law" that said it was ok to own slaves? I suppose those who broke that law by freeing slaves should be punished for breaking that law.
- looselips, on 10/29/2007, -0/+12I agree completely. I feel most people are afraid of it because of when they tried it, they got blazed with someone who blazes regularly.
With all things, people need to learn the term: moderation. It seems a lot of people I meet, are only interested in "getting stupid".
For some cough syrup is too strong and a couple shots will make them puke, others claim they can drink anyone under the table.
The herb is not the same for everyone and most likely you can expect the overeager and stupid drinker to be the first to over do anything.
Is their opinion important?
If so, ask them to try a bit of space cake, I bet if they nibble on it, they would enjoy it more.
And they would not get the couch-sinking feeling..
..unless you introduce them to a pan of them..they expect the drunks to polish them off.
I would make a pan of regular brownies, just in case they keep asking for more! - shaelen, on 10/29/2007, -1/+13You do realize, don't you, that you are using "agreed" in the wrong form. Something like "I agree" would be more appropriate. "Agreed" means to grant consent. Are you granting some form of consent?
- acceptab1euname, on 10/29/2007, -2/+13The real shame is that if your friends get caught, you could very well be charged with a crime for /simply being there/.
- centerblack, on 10/30/2007, -1/+12Drink more kool-aid commie.
- NnyCW, on 10/28/2007, -1/+12Minorities too, and people who were born somewhere different than you.
