- Fallenfighter, on 05/19/2009, -6/+212Its obvious Americans want marijuana to be legalized. So why has it not been? With medical information coming out all the time in favor of cannabis this PLANT remains just as illegal as crack, cocaine, and heroin. Also even In the Citizens Briefing Book the topic of marijuana was rated the top issue. So when will the government get it into their heads we want something done.

Celebrate.... - duncan202, on 05/19/2009, -4/+122Personally I feel the whole "medical" thing is damaging. We shouldn't have to make excuses. The fact is, arresting adults for using marijuana is blatant government nannyism, completely hippocritical given our laws on alchohol, and just completely goes against indiviual freedom and liberty. These are the grounds upon which legalizing weed should be fought.
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -3/+107Whats the ***** sense of snatching up some 21 year old with a sack... throwing him in with rapists, murderers, and thieves???
- fallore, on 05/19/2009, -4/+65they know we want something done, they just don't see it as in their best interest to do so.

- lukedamonkey, on 05/19/2009, -1/+3246% of americans want it legalized, it's rising but we're not going to get it federally legalized anytime soon. We need to use the same technique prohibition did: States. State laws are CONTAGIOUS, look at medical marijuana. 1/5 of the nation (13 states) has medical marijuana legalized. I assure you that number will rise. We have a chance at getting it legalized in California, that's a major stepping stone for the legalization movement.

The laws themselves are absurd, so it should not be surprising to see the absurd responses to it. - ccfccp, on 05/19/2009, -5/+30***** God, and his word! There is NO God people!
- bpoteat, on 05/19/2009, -1/+26"As for right now, marijuana is illegal under federal law. If you choose to ignore that FACT then you have chosen to break the law. You should live with whatever consequences arise. If you want the law changed, fine. Go get it changed."
Not a big Rosa Parks fan? Same logic. Just saying. - s73v3r, on 05/19/2009, -1/+25Well, the rapists already got their sex.
- duncan202, on 05/19/2009, -0/+23Though I consider legalizing weed on the lower end of things I think need to be fixed, it really nicely sums up how retarded our relationship with our Federal government really is. A plant, easily grown just about anywhere, with arguable mild adverse effects compared to a myriad of more dangerous things we are (rightfully) allowed to participate in -- yet the Fed see's fit to arrest you, take your property, even if the state your in has said it's ok, and generally ***** up your life. It's outrageous really in a free country. It shouldn't be illegal, it should'nt be regulated. Other than laws against minors using it, or driving under the influence etc, the governement has no business in it.
- SamSks, on 05/19/2009, -4/+26OK, Here's my plan to get marijuana legalized - guaranteed! Or get the Republicans on board....they're desperate now!
Just start saying this to the press:
"I don't know, but when I smoke it, I can see the Republican's point of view."
Huh? huh? Well? - samsmartjr, on 05/19/2009, -0/+21But they need more.
- AllanX, on 05/19/2009, -0/+20Actually only about 7% of the people in US jails are rapists, murderers and other violent offenders. This is compared to over 30% before the Reagan Administration.
The jails are filled to capacity with non-violent drug users (and, to be sure, sellers) such that they can't build new jails fast enough. We've forgotten that jails are supposed to protect society first. Instead we think they're punishment and so a large portion of society are at the mercy of those who punish with glee.
Things would certainly be different if marijuana wasn't such a threat to the alcohol and cigarette industries, or if incarceration wasn't such a profitable business, or if the government actually allowed academics and scientists to study the drugs. - 1longtime, on 05/19/2009, -0/+20"And thou shalt troll with thy Bible in hand."
-Book of Bibleous Trollus Maximus 1:1. - xt0xicx, on 05/19/2009, -0/+20We should end the prohobition on drugs soon.. it didn't work for alcohol in the 1930s and i hope this country wakes up soon to realize that it isn't working right now.
- SpykerSpeed, on 05/19/2009, -0/+19But if you're growing marijuana for your own use, that's not commerce. It's a huge stretch on the government's part.
- aimhelix, on 05/19/2009, -0/+19I remember Ecco the dolphin.. those were the days.
- altgeeky1, on 05/19/2009, -0/+18How exactly is being anti-prohibition "liberal"??
I thought self-determination was a "conservative" tenet?
You know... your home is your castle etc.?
Liberals and their nanny laws, etc.
These stereotypes have all been stood on their head. - mrsteveman1, on 05/19/2009, -2/+20It's already legal for medical use, go look it up.
- alankem, on 05/19/2009, -0/+17The burden of proof is on you to prove he does exist. Just because I say I can fly doesn't mean I can. Prove I can't fly.
- lamejoketeller, on 05/19/2009, -0/+17the ranking system makes about as much sense as the color-coded terrorist threat level
- jgzman, on 05/19/2009, -2/+19Law generaly isn't made on the bench.
Laws are upheld there, such as the tenth amendment.
Laws can be struck down there, when they are unconstitutional, or occasionally so immoral that the jury refuses to uphold them.
One might even argue that striking down a law is de facto making a law.
Welcome to the USA. - numponascrape, on 05/19/2009, -0/+17DUDES not everyone is Christian Get a clue.
- diggdiggerid, on 05/19/2009, -1/+18^^It's illegality is unconstitutional so it should be ignored. Show me where in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States is the Federal government granted the power to declare ingesting certain chemicals illegal?

- idc5, on 05/19/2009, -0/+15Marijuana is a schedule I drug. Absolutely 0 potential for medical use by definition.
Cocaine and Meth is a Schedule II drug.
What a ***** joke. Caffeine should be scheduled as a Schedule I also next to marijuana then because it is just as dangerous. - NikoKun, on 05/19/2009, -1/+1646% is a comfortable estimate. More recent polling shows 52% support... though that sounds almost too good to be true. lol
- Kstha1, on 05/19/2009, -1/+16Ending the prohibition on drugs would mean a lot of people in power would lose A LOT of money.
- DankBuddz, on 05/19/2009, -1/+16Oh, so sorry to ruin your Digg experience.
- iopasd, on 05/19/2009, -0/+15Questions?
Yeah. Why is it still Schedule 1? - EarlOfLade, on 05/19/2009, -1/+16Like dieing from alcohol poisoning when you drink too much?
I would say that the chance of dieing from alcohol is much larger than from cocaine, but this is just based upon personal experiences. - lildigga, on 05/19/2009, -2/+16Stay classy San Diego.
- bag2p, on 05/19/2009, -0/+14I call troll. Checked his other posts . . . or he's just an idiot.
- enginbeeringSB, on 05/19/2009, -1/+15@lukedamonkey
Fair enough. So in that case, should hash/honey oil/other concentrates be illegal?
I'm 100% in favor in legalization (not this decriminalization *****), but this whole "it's just a plant" argument isn't all that strong. I prefer the argument where the active ingredient itself (THC) has never caused a death, and doesn't actually have any known negative side-affects. - iopasd, on 05/19/2009, -0/+13Or you know.. as an adult I could just find it a way to relax after work.
