- Pseudofool, on 09/08/2008, -31/+294Absolutely essential for MSM to get a hold of this story. Spread the news.
- Rotzooi, on 09/08/2008, -38/+266Face it, America - the country is firmly in the hands of the Republican party. For the last 8 years, all positions of power have been filled by partisan Republicans, who in turn will only hire Republican hacks etc etc. Our country is no longer a democracy. Elections are a fraud. Saddam used to win with 99.9% of the vote? What does it matter if the GOP wins with 50.1%? Same diff.
- JenniferInMO, on 09/08/2008, -19/+222Don't just assume you are registered. Check. If you have moved or changed your name check now. Remind everyone you know to make sure their registration is up to date. It must be done right away. The clock is ticking.

And research this story. Facts are facts, no matter where they came from. - cindylbb, on 09/08/2008, -21/+154
Take a minute, verify your voter registration. Quick, painless, it took me 30 seconds.

- camipco, on 09/08/2008, -31/+157The fundamental ideology of the Republican party today is not one of conservatism, or neo-conservatism. It is an ideology of permanent power. It is a fundamentally undemocratic ideology. A fundamentally unamerican ideology. That's why we need to remove them from power, because the longer they stay, the more they will destroy democracy, the very foundation of America.
- macidiot, on 09/08/2008, -28/+127I'm a democrat elections director in north west Ohio, and I can tell you from experience that this article's claims that people are being purged in Ohio are false. Even if people are found to not live in the home they are registered at, they can still vote. Purges do not happen in even years, only odd years. It's Ohio law. An important thing to remember is that there is a difference in Ohio since 2004. In 2004 the secretary of state (In charge of elections in the state) was a corrupt republican. In 2008 the secretary of state is a democrat who is tackling election corruption. Ohio's good this time around.
- drew720, on 09/08/2008, -49/+148Do not let the f***king GOP steal another presidential election. Please take action now and help !!!!!!!!!
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 09/08/2008, -47/+132GOP always cheats presidential elections.
- youngdb, on 09/08/2008, -40/+114The only way Republicans truly win elections lately, FRAUD.
- squigglycircle, on 09/08/2008, -26/+94I'm sorry to say this, and it's not really my business to say it from this side of the Atlantic (being European), but people of the United States, your so-called democracy is a farce. A joke. A sad joke, but a joke nonetheless. And there are people who still think of it as the bulwark of liberal democracy? I LOL at that. On the one hand you don't even know who has the right to vote, and on the other you don't trust your government enough to give them the means to keep up with who does.
Please, open your eyes and see that you are not the only democracy in the world. There are others, all over the place. You can learn from them, just like other states have learned from the US. It doesn't take anything away from you, just to learn a few things about how to make and keep a democratic state running. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -25/+93You can verify your registration and location at this URL: https://www.voteforchange.com. It may also be preferable to vote early and multiple times just to be sure.
- gazingsouthward, on 09/08/2008, -17/+82Your local public library will have active and inactive voter rolls at their information or reference desks. Call or visit to check your status!

- dhVyse, on 09/08/2008, -24/+74Here we go again! We CANNOT let this happen again, but sadly I have little faith.
- iainc, on 09/08/2008, -2/+49Doesn't matter who did it. It's still wrong. Hope the DNC person gets taken to the cleaners.
- proudmatt, on 09/08/2008, -5/+50Voter purging when accurately and correctly done is an essential part of democracy, as it prevents voter fraud.
One example in this article would be the people purged from re-possessed houses. If these people have failed to re-register at their new address, then it is right and just for them to be purged from their current address to prevent fraud.
This said it is understandable, due to previous republican abuse, as to why 'voter purging' has such negative connotations. I just believe that each case should be judged individually, instead of this automatic assumption presumptive guilt, as it makes the progressive movement appear reactionary instead. - BillRoy, on 09/08/2008, -40/+80Is this American democracy?
Hell, gangsters and mobsters rule the USA, but what else can you expect, the McCain money is all mob based. - 13373h4X0r, on 09/08/2008, -21/+58It is sad when a political party does not have enough confidence in its ability to win the support of the majority of voters and instead relies on trying to discourage or prevent people from voting.
Seriously -- there needs to be laws to prevent any voter registrations from being dropped when an election is imminent. Sure, obsolete or invalid voter registrations should be periodically purged, but purging registrations should not be allowed when there is no chance for a person to make an appeal in time to be eligible to participate in a national election. I think it was 2000 or 2004 when Florida purged a bunch of former felons, long after they were released from prison -- and, while I believe they were reinstated after the election (Florida: Whoops! Our bad!), the damage was already done; Mission Accomplished. You either believe in the Christian principle of forgiveness and second chances or you don't, and you either believe in fairness or you don't, and you either believe in integrity or you don't.
Another dirty trick is to set up a table in a public place to give people an opportunity to register to vote, with voter registration cards on hand, and then collect the cards and throw away the Democrat applications. Yet another trick is to use an auto-dialer to call registered Democrats and tell them that either the polling location has changed, or that the voting hours or date has changed in that district. Another trick is to close a polling site early, before people can get home from work (for people too scared to take time off from a job they don't want to lose). Another trick is to intimidate voters at the polling site, or have polling volunteers work slowly so that the lines of waiting people are very long (thus discouraging for the less committed).
Anyhow, I think dropping voter registrations so close to an election, such that some people will undoubtedly not be able to appeal the decision (and prove that they have the right to vote) in time to make a difference in the election, is IMMORAL and TREASONOUS. It's sabotage of the very basis of America : democracy. Our country was founded so that our people would have a saIt's a tactic that totalitarian regimes use to protect their power while pretending to their population, and the eyes of the world, to have free and fair elections. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -22/+55The Fix is In. Again.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -5/+38Only if they are qualified to vote, i.e. they must be citizens of the USA and the state. They must not be convicted felons. And what ever other constitutional restrictions the state has..............and proper ID at the polling place.
- makeitloud, on 09/08/2008, -0/+32I'm a Democrat. If that DNC person is guilty of illegally purging Republicans or anybody else from the voter rolls, I hope s/he spends a long time rotting in prison. I'd go so far as to call that treason.
- enki25, on 09/08/2008, -14/+40Republicans care more about a made up story from Fox about thrown away flags at the DNC then they do about a real story about thrown away voters.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is America you are buying if you vote for McCain/Palin. - nick1971, on 09/08/2008, -12/+37It almost makes you think that the UN needs to send in election monitors.

I'm trying to think whether or not I mean this sarcastically. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -6/+31OH NO THE SCARY DEMOCRATS!
Make sure the Republicans stay in power! They've been so good! The trillions of dollars in deficit, corruption and war crimes must continue! - wooFmeoWoinK, on 09/08/2008, -4/+28It has already been stolen by corporations, no matter who wins the people will always lose.
- pinchduck, on 09/08/2008, -0/+23You are half right. The Democrats buy into the permanent power ideology as well. That is why the election rules are rigged to exclude 3rd parties, permanently entrenching the ruling duopoly.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -13/+36You can verify your registration here: https://www.voteforchange.com.
- thcobbs, on 09/08/2008, -6/+28Funny, the media ignored massive purging of republicans in Mississippi(me being one of them... not a republican... a purged voter) even though a local DNC person is under investigation for it.
- dafragsta, on 09/08/2008, -4/+25What alternate reality are you living in?
Democrat presidents since 1960: JFK, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton
Republican presidents since 1960: LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Reagon, Bush Sr. Bush Jr.
I don't know for sure, but I'd also say that Clinton was the only Democrat president who also had a democratic house and senate. As much as I don't like Clinton as a person, he was the quintessential example of armchair Republicans listening to talking heads not knowing WTF they are talking about when they say "tax and spend liberal" He balanced the budget, and while I don't agree with his modest tax increases, I do think he was far more fiscally conservative than any president that has held office for as long as I've been alive. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -48/+68MEANWHILE, SOME DUMB INBRED HICK IN GEORGIA...is saying "I'm glad terrorists isn't attacking my woodshed".
- Berkana, on 09/08/2008, -15/+34Help get this on the air. Quote from Greg Palast's page (http://www.gregpalast.com/obama-doesn’t-sweat-he-s ... ):
_______________________________
We have been offered an astonishing opportunity to place the Kennedy-Palast investigative findings on a national, prime-time, major-network television broadcast. Plus, separately, we have an extraordinary offer to create a series of reports for national network radio.
But guess what? The networks will NOT PAY for our public service reports. We have to raise the start-up funds in the next two weeks to film it, record it and get it on the airwaves.
WE need YOU to fund the reports, DISSEMINATE the findings as we post the print, audio and video on the web– and ACT on it.
_______________________________ - Hangly, on 09/08/2008, -1/+20They've got the news. They're not reporting it for a reason.
And that reason is hey, ***** you. - pinchduck, on 09/08/2008, -7/+25You mean except the Democrat controlled House and Senate? Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are great at talking tough, but they suck as a majority party in Congress. The real nasty stuff, like the FISA bill or subsidies for corn-based bio fuels, they just leg go through. They are Bushes lap dog. That isn't Republican corruption, that is Democrat ineptitude. They should be setting the national agenda, not meekly giving Bush everything he wants.
- MacBigot, on 09/08/2008, -1/+18Oh yea…voters must also still have a pulse to be eligible.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+17YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!
We have to be sure those that register to vote are legal to vote on either side.
We have to be sure that those who registered on either side arent purged.
We don't want any election stolen... by EITHER SIDE!!! - Loonacy, on 09/08/2008, -8/+24"That site is a work of a bunch of leftists."
Wonderful news. - thegrantman, on 09/08/2008, -3/+19That's the motto of Diebold.
- tehjai, on 09/08/2008, -7/+23And your point is?
- iainc, on 09/08/2008, -2/+17Ooh, aren't you the arrogant *****. The rest of the world has to deal with the mess your nation produces, what a shame we don't have a say.
Get it right this time sonny, or you'll find yourselves isolated and living in just another fascist, pariah pig of a nation. That comment is aimed squarely at you and the people who think like you, and not the millions of decent world citizens that live in the US. Most of those would probably disown you anyway. - tehjai, on 09/08/2008, -1/+16pintomp3, it's one of their civil rights a felon gives up when convicted. Now after they have served their time they are allowed to petition for their right to vote again(depending on the state).
- thegrantman, on 09/08/2008, -2/+17@ jeltringham: you are in favor of letting non citizens vote? That is absolutely ludicrous. You might as well get rid of the idea of personal property too. Who's to say who owns what?
- DavidTrom, on 09/08/2008, -0/+14as much as I love those two:
they have no impact whatsoever, they only reach the converted.
If they'd had any impact we wouldn't be in the mess we are now - ScottyMo, on 09/08/2008, -0/+14"It may also be preferable to vote ... multiple times just to be sure."
I hope that was tongue-in-cheek, otherwise you're just doing the same thing that you're accusing the other side of (tampering with the vote). - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -3/+17I'm getting sick of seeing these articles constantly being marked as inaccurate. It's like the new "weak defense" mechanism. Mark something you don't agree with as inaccurate, even though it is, without backing anything up.
Great plan.
***** knock it off. - cwright213, on 09/08/2008, -14/+28It's over.........I have this quote on my computer.
"Those who cast the vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything".
I was waiting to take it down but now I think I'll keep it up. Guess who wrote the quote? -
