At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, "You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you *****."
McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days. ...not to mention those groggy 3am phonecalls.
John, forget about 'loose cannon'...are you really suck a prick? - angusm, on 04/07/2008, -8/+48It's no big deal. McCain just looks bad because he doesn't have the iron self-discipline and mellow temperament of "Gentleman Dick" Cheney, a man whose old-world politeness, gentleness and courtesy towards his political opponents is justly legendary.
- coit, on 04/07/2008, -27/+59OMG. McCain curses. Just like everyone else.
- inactive, on 04/07/2008, -18/+48Well that settles it! I was going to vote for him, but now that a book says that he exhibited a temper 16 years ago, I am going STRAIGHT foir Obama!
Good job rawstory! - EvansHall, on 04/07/2008, -9/+35I am far from a McCain supporter, but who hasn't called their colleagues *****, ***** or ***** jerks?
- SuperSunny, on 04/07/2008, -11/+31This is just pure stupid.
No, not the fact this guy was pissed off. It's stupid because it's from a book that's dedicated to the purpose of breaking this guy down. It's biased as *****.
I don't even like McCain, but damn this is exactly what we don't need. Every guy has gotten pissed off. I teach a bunch of kids how to do digital composition, technically I'm some sort of leader, but occasionally (all the time) I still burn off friends who annoy the ***** out of me or I tell someone who's a whore that she's a whore. - jetboyterp, on 04/07/2008, -16/+34Yeah...go back to 1992. Way to go again, rawstory.
- pinetree, on 04/07/2008, -5/+20John McCain's temper is well documented. He's called opponents and colleagues "*****," "*****" and in at least one case "a ***** jerk."
His opponents and colleagues are politicians -- sounds like "straight talk" to me. - kalvinb, on 04/07/2008, -9/+22Nothing says credible like anonymous sources.
- aadyss, on 04/07/2008, -9/+22"Can you imagine a US President talking like that to another head of state or head of government?" Sure, why not? Since when have the diggers become so sensitive? They use some of the most offensive language I've ever seen. They can put McCain to shame in the vulgar category.
- Kenzan, on 04/07/2008, -2/+15Mcain ANGRY!
McCain SMASH!!!!
GGRRRAAAARRRGGG!! - sockpuppets, on 04/07/2008, -14/+27Who doesn't have a temper? What's with the need to be constantly politically correct? I'm no McCain fan but we've all been there.
- romistrub, on 04/07/2008, -4/+16LOL nice slip.
- hellsing47, on 04/07/2008, -0/+11If I were John McCain I probably wouldn't like Vietnam either.
- semigloss, on 04/07/2008, -16/+27I like to swear as much as the next adult, but that's a word I don't use even in jest, even among my closest friends. That he would say it to his own wife -- in front of others -- says a lot about the man's character, none of it good.
- thebaron2, on 04/08/2008, -1/+12Sounds like he'd fit right in making comments on Digg.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -14/+24He wasn't called "Punk" and "McNasty" in high school for nothing.
- sheasie, on 04/08/2008, -3/+12McCain is running for the highest office in the land - unlike everyone else. As such, we should (and do) need to hold him to the highest of possible standards - unlike everyone else.
- db0255, on 04/07/2008, -12/+20what the helll.....trollop? *****? who uses those words like that?
- lived666, on 04/07/2008, -10/+18The point is he can't control his temper. Not that he used dirty words.
- dumpyhumpy, on 04/07/2008, -3/+10I curse like a mother ***** at times as well, but "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you *****."... damn man... that's a foul mouth.
- JoeVet, on 04/08/2008, -1/+8Actually this is the best we have: http://z.about.com/d/politicalhumor/1/0/X/e/1/mcca ...
- jforjools, on 04/08/2008, -1/+8No, there's plenty more--but this speaks to what we already know: he has a history of being a high-temper loose-canon.
More importantly, this occurred in the work setting--on the campaign trail and in front of staffers. Does say something about the guy--but I'm also sure it does not say everything .
And I'm betting this is hitting home with a slightly higher percentage of women than it may be with men.
If it doesn't bug you, fine. - Gerz1219, on 04/08/2008, -1/+816 years ago McCain called his wife a *****, in public, in view of the press. Over light teasing about his hair. That's pretty bad. If he'd done that in the YouTube era, his candidacy would've been over, whether that's fair or not.
Taken on its own, fine, everyone loses their temper at times. The problem is that this seems to be part of a repeated pattern of poor anger management skills, spanning decades. If McCain is so insecure that it only takes a bald joke to set him off into a potentially self-destructive, career-ending outburst, then what happens when the Chinese blockade Taiwan, or the terrorists nuke Manhattan? I'm concerned that his impulsive reaction might be worse than blurting out the c-word. - EtherGnat, on 04/08/2008, -1/+8Where other people could hear? Never, not once, and I never will.
- WhatsUpWithJack, on 04/07/2008, -2/+9I'm not a McCain fan by any means but if I were held captive a POW for five and a half years and tortured, I'd get pretty angry from time to time too, even if it was tens of years after the fact. This story does little to discredit McCain from the presidency. Let's be OBJECTIVE, and use our heads, people.
- quisph, on 04/08/2008, -2/+9Well, I agree with you up to a point. McCain's policies are the reason I won't vote for him. But I don't think that decorum is too much to expect from a world leader. Temper tantrums and coarse language would make McCain less effective than he could otherwise be.
- serif69, on 04/07/2008, -7/+14This is the same Digg that lamented the lack of swearing on broadcast television in America when shown a clip of British television, right? Just checking.
- jetboyterp, on 04/07/2008, -19/+25Since when do the Dem's and liberal lefties ever care about the Truth? Just make it up as ya go along...Heck, half of 'em are just recently figuring out that the Clinton's are liars.
- dumpyhumpy, on 04/07/2008, -2/+8...especially in front of other people
- adventchild08, on 04/07/2008, -5/+11Man...if this is the best you can do...I am definitely voting for Obama.
- damnyooneek, on 04/07/2008, -4/+10Compassion is one thing but a leader lead by emotion is bad.
- adventchild08, on 04/08/2008, -1/+7I remember when the Clintons put this little tidbit out (thank you for shilling her, operation chaos in full force, no doubt). It didn't take long for Kavi Grace to sift through public records and find that Clinton had in fact taken 1.3 million.
Even still, compared to McCain-Feingold. It still seems like your really stretching. I am a little shocked that there is so little dirt on Obama that this was all that could be mustered. Hillary has been utterly destroyed by now. Maybe its just because the right saw him as little of a threat to dig up hard dirt on him earlier on.
Or maybe he has just earned it. - serif69, on 04/07/2008, -7/+13Maybe if someone yelled at them they wouldn't be such *****.
- ichbeineinrcg, on 04/07/2008, -4/+10I think McCain should grown an Amish beard and call his wife a Jezebel. He should also start saying "thee" and "thine".
- MisterFreeze, on 04/07/2008, -1/+7I'll support any president who calls Wen Jiabao a *****.
- defektiv, on 04/07/2008, -4/+10it's an uncontrolled response. whenever a loyal conservative hears "rawstory", "dailykos", or "moveon" they immediately say something like this. i'm just glad their responses are concise now, it's easier to ignore them.
- DocCochran, on 04/08/2008, -3/+8McCain = McCain
Obama's pastor =/= Obama
I guess that's more complicated then it looks, because a lot of folks can't seem to get the concept. - lndmn01, on 04/07/2008, -5/+10hey, at least he didn't fake cry...
- hemispheres010, on 04/07/2008, -3/+8Everyone can rant all they want about the source being unreliable. When someone writes a book about me (hey...it could happen...) and they quote me as calling my wife a "*****", and it didn't really happen, I'll be all over them with a libel suit before the ink is dry.
I'm looking forward to hearing what McCain's response to this is. - TheSwashbuckler, on 04/08/2008, -2/+7"you randomly decide for no ***** reason"
Ain't nothing random about it... - Sogui, on 04/07/2008, -2/+7Actually McCain was at the forefront of the movement to reestablish diplomatic and trading ties with Vietnam, apparently he pissed off some veterans because he was "past Vietnam" by the 80's when he was making diplomatic trips there. He was quicker to forgive Vietnam as a country than most Americans were, despite his lasting hatred of those who had held him and his compatriots.
- BedPost, on 04/08/2008, -0/+5Perhaps not entirely appropriate, but I'll be damned if I won't quote Futurama at every chance I get:
"Quick! Somebody shock him!"
"Your social security check is late! Stuff costs more than it used to! Young people use curse words!" - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -1/+6Whoa buddy, don't hit someone with that jerky knee.
All I said was he wasn't called "Punk" and "McNasty" in high school for nothing. The guy is known for his temper. - MisterFreeze, on 04/08/2008, -3/+8You forgot to use his middle name. If you're going to attack him with some meaningless racist taunt, never forget to call him Barack HUSSEIN Obama.
- jforjools, on 04/07/2008, -6/+11No, I've done some snooping around. The book will be out next month and this is squotes.
- dumpyhumpy, on 04/07/2008, -0/+5I would hope so. That sounds like part of a healthy relationship to me...
- serif69, on 04/07/2008, -6/+10You're a ***** *****, douchetard
- inactive, on 04/08/2008, -0/+4If this is how he acts in a professional setting, I have no doubt that he could be nastier in a semi-public setting,
