- Timborako, on 08/20/2008, -118/+460There are several reasons for this:
1. McCain has run a pretty negative campaign thus far concerning his tv ads, which are starting to work on the public.
2. Obama has yet to really hit back with any negative ads of his own, which would work because there is a LOT of stuff to nail McCain on.
3. The divided dem base has yet to heal with no real help to HRC (or Obama for that matter)
4. The public still doesn't know who McCain is, ie beyond the fact he is a POW. - Elite1789, on 08/20/2008, -39/+293*rubs eyes*
A pro-McCain article on Digg?
*ducks as pig bursts through window* - DarkPrincess74, on 08/20/2008, -49/+264I guess this means in order to win the election Obama must start lying, getting major news outlets to edit bad answers from broadcasts and come up with stupid campaign ads that have nothing to do with reality.
- Enzo33, on 08/20/2008, -133/+337This is only going to get worse for Obama - now he has to SHARE the stage with Bilary at the DNC. Whoops! He should have seen this coming - well, Barry, that's what happens when you just listen to the media and not the people!!
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -107/+293John McCain president? Hope you like Civil War 2.
- PoleCatz, on 08/20/2008, -52/+209Americans have been proving for 40 years that they absolutely cannot get enough of being screwed up the ass by the wealthy while being stripped of their jobs, savings, liberties, health care and dignity.
McCain is a lock.
PLEASE SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER? *thwap*
PLEASE SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER? *wham*
PLEASE SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER? *fwwwap* - AwakeningAZ, on 08/20/2008, -46/+197This post is designed to interrupt the pro-McCain post squad.
- JFallon126, on 08/20/2008, -32/+156Stronger manager of the economy? NEITHER of them is managing anything! People are ***** stupid. This is just the MSM trying to keep the race as interesting as possible.
- Airforcefalco, on 08/20/2008, -22/+127Remember the "polls" showed Giuliani and Clinton getting the nomination.
And I do not want McCain or Obama in office. - canewediggit, on 08/20/2008, -41/+141bad news for team obama but i'm not sweating it. either way, it's pretty much a dead heat when you take all national polls into consideration. once the debates start, we'll see how this plays out. mccain should be posting big gains this month; obama took a week off, mccain has been seriously outspending him b/c next month public finance kicks in and he has to clean out the coffers by then, and the one shared time event was a lay-up tailor made for mccain.
- getbusyliving, on 08/20/2008, -12/+102Yeah, after all he is campaigning in the United States.
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 08/20/2008, -6/+95McCain supporters were obviously given the Zogby survey questions ahead of time.
- stevetrojanman, on 08/20/2008, -30/+118Ok...I'll submit to #1, but I think the "negative" ads have been pretty tame.
#2...Before you become so sure that it will work, keep in mind that Obama has prided himself on being too dignified on stooping to that level. He's the new Washington politician remember? I think a heavy set of negative campaigning could hurt him some if he starts it.
#3...If he's counting on Billary supporters to come through for him, he better not count on any help from the Clintons...they're interested in having McCain elected so that she can run again in 2012.
#4...Yeah, if the public is too stupid not to know who McCain is after 24 years and yet can claim that they have a great idea of who Obama is after maybe 6 years in the public spotlight...then America's in trouble. What explicit evidence do you have that says the public doesn't know who McCain is? And no, because diggers told you so isn't explicit evidence. - pintomp3, on 08/20/2008, -49/+134proof that negative ads and lies still work.
- redchina, on 08/20/2008, -42/+116McCain's up in Ohio too: http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politic ...

Gallup has Obama winning. - timmers0, on 08/20/2008, -14/+85http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/presi ...
The link takes you to a summary of all reputable, national polls concerning the presidential race. Obama is still up by 1.3% points nationwide. But he is gradually loosing support. - thePTS, on 08/20/2008, -53/+124If Americans vote for McCain then my faith in that nation is lost.. how dumb can you get? How many times do you have to make the same, retarded mistake?
Hoping for the smart americans to win through the smoke carpet of ***** laid down by the macho republican assbags. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -74/+145He's Black Jesus, 5 points is nothing for a man that can come back from the dead.
- Suzuka09, on 08/20/2008, -15/+81Its cause hes black isnt it...
- chrissku, on 08/20/2008, -64/+125Regardless, the Republican Party is still a ***** joke.
- warr1979, on 08/20/2008, -65/+126Lets vote for a senior citzen whos only claim to fame was being a POW and doing nothing in congress for as long as he's been there.
- skinjob1, on 08/20/2008, -7/+66Who was the last Republican president with a balanced budget? I always wonder why people believe the repubs will balance the budget. War and tax cuts for the ultra-rich are expensive.
- georgemason01, on 08/20/2008, -4/+62I don't support Obama, nor do I support McCain. I dugg this submission because it is a news report with a reputable source. I wish others would do the same rather than digging/burying solely based on blind political allegiance.
- kemp34, on 08/20/2008, -45/+94I am no Obama fan, but anyone supporting McCain right now is missing a portion of their brain. Were the ice pick lobotomies that prevalent?
- GoodDamon, on 08/20/2008, -12/+60No, this is... an outlier. One poll among many took a sudden nosedive, while the rest are pretty consistently giving Obama 3-6 point edges. http://www.pollster.com/polls/us/08-us-pres-ge-mvo ...
- mpobri, on 08/20/2008, -44/+89So I've voted Republican in 4 of 5 presidential elections mostly for economic reasons (balanced budget is my "core issue"), but after seeing McCain avoid the "give me your definition of rich" question, I decided it's time to vote Obama.
Polls greater than 10 days pre-election mean very little except to help the candidates shape their message and build their to-do list for the next campaign stop. I expect Obama to better focus on the economy, though I truly think he is/was much stronger on this subject. - PhilliesBlunt, on 08/20/2008, -6/+49Dude, you voted Republican because you wanted a balanced budget?
- AndrewDB, on 08/20/2008, -23/+61I find it amusing that everyone believes polls really, really matter that much.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -11/+49I hate sequels
- elcalrissian, on 08/20/2008, -22/+59I don't think the Democrats have what it takes to unite their party.
- btschul, on 08/20/2008, -97/+132How the hell did this make it to the front page? The Obama sheep must have the day off or something.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -17/+52MCCAIN IS PUBLICLY QUOTED THIS ELECTION SEASON AS SAYING
"I don't really understand economics"
"I don't really understand economics"
"I don't really understand economics"
"I don't really understand economics"
"I don't really understand economics"
"I don't really understand economics"
"I don't really understand economics"
AND PEOPLE SEE HIM AS A STRONGER MANAGER OF THE ECONOMY - caoimhinn, on 08/20/2008, -39/+73It's 2:00PM EST. Like most typical welfare recipients, the Obama sheep are just waking up. They'll bury the story and any sensible comments momentarily.
- flossdaily, on 08/20/2008, -55/+89don't worry- as soon as the debates start, McCain is OVER.
- FamousAnus, on 08/20/2008, -2/+35Yes...lets wage war on the behalf of the anti-war candidate.

Digg is the most blatantly liberal community that exists today. Seriously, the only reason I still spend time here is for comedic relief.
It's like the National Lib/Democrat associations pay poor college students to get on here and post comments all while digging anybody down who carries any conservative opinions. - coheedcollapse, on 08/20/2008, -25/+54I don't think I've ever heard a liberal saying that people don't support Barack because of racism (unless it's blatant...). That's some weird thing you right-wingers have manufactured yourselves.
I'm assuming the reason you hate him so much is because you've voted republican your whole life and are so set in your ways you'd never want to change that. The people you hang out with probably contribute to that hardheadedness. You're 25, so I assume your parents have a lot to do with what you think.
Before you go on offensive about my age, I grew up in a christian household as a christian. My parents have always voted republican and many of my friends have done the same. Luckily, before I reached legal voting age, I figured I'd vote for the best person for our country, and so far, they've all been democrats. We're not all stupid sheep like you seem to think. - cryptomystic, on 08/20/2008, -41/+70The fix is in, America can not be this dumb.
- mweflen, on 08/20/2008, -5/+33Wow. Balanced budgeteers voting blindly for the party which has ballooned the national debt to 10 trillion dollars.
No wonder we're *****. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -7/+35Civil War 2 might not be the best thing for Dems considering staunch Republican support for gun rights.
- mobbo, on 08/20/2008, -16/+42There is also a HUGE reason for this downturn: These polls are only run with people who have land-line phones. Obama supporters tend to be younger and a large number of them (including myself) are exclusively cell-phone users. It's also summer time when younger and more professional people are on vacation. Can't answer your home phone if you're on vacation.
These polls are almost always biased towards the "old people's" choice. - guitarchitect, on 08/20/2008, -15/+41I find single polls to be fairly unreliable... I always use the average of all polls for a more accurate picture -
http://www.pollster.com/polls/us/08-us-pres-ge-mvo ... - mmmmmbiscuits, on 08/20/2008, -18/+43Yeah! Obama is so....uhhhh....uhhhhh...ummmm.....good at....uhhhh....responding to unscripted/unteleprompted questions.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -3/+28middle easterners are black?? I'm guessing you havent been to the middle east lately. And Jesus was semitic, so he probably looked semitic.
- sputza, on 08/20/2008, -46/+70This just proves that many Americans are idiots. Sorry but its true. You might not be one of the idiots but I'm sure you know a few.
- 11oops, on 08/20/2008, -10/+33Drastic measures? Like voting for a candidate that may actually win? I know you all hate to hear that, but just think... Gore only lost Florida by 1,725 votes, while Nader received 96,837 votes from Florida residents. Other third party candidates -- Browne received 18,856 votes, Buchanan received 17,356 votes, Phillips received 4,280 votes, and Hagelin received 2,287 votes.
How many people do you think are kicking themselves today for the way they cast their vote in 2000? - xatx3, on 08/20/2008, -10/+32right. the only way another republican would get elected is if the election were rigged again
- stevetrojanman, on 08/20/2008, -3/+26Umm..he referred to himself as Barry until he was out of high school.
