- JerichoKS, on 08/29/2008, -52/+529Paging John McCain, Paging John McCain - Your Giant Load of FAIL has just arrived. Ding ding ding.
- jakereilly, on 08/29/2008, -19/+375Palin is just another religious nutjob who wants to impose her wacky creationist views on others at the expense of reason and logic.
Creationism cannot be proven and isn't supported by facts. It is not science. It is a belief. You go to school to learn, not be preached to. Keep the "faith" in sunday school and church where it belongs. - wrttnwrd, on 08/29/2008, -19/+369Someone please put me in a coma for 8 years if McCain wins.
- JesseJames27, on 08/29/2008, -16/+321I just love politicians that tout Creationist Education as if it's something to debate. If you want your child to learn that, there are plenty of private schools that do, but as long as the school is a publicly funded institution, it should follow the laws and guidelines of education.
- thelastcivilian, on 08/29/2008, -19/+250Did they consider other factors than simply "She's a woman" ?
- cg4et, on 08/30/2008, -8/+222As a Christian, I do not want the government prescribing a curriculum which treats my religious beliefs as scientific fact. My beliefs are not based in science, but in faith. Schools should stick with the academic fundamentals and let families take care of instilling faith and morality.
- realjames, on 08/29/2008, -19/+224Now that's ch-change we can b-b-believe in.
- johnskiddles, on 08/29/2008, -18/+214Message to creationists
Ignorance is not a form of 'proof'. - N3tw0rk, on 08/29/2008, -15/+205"Teach both" (creation and evolution)
"I am a proponent of teaching both."
She couldn't be more clearer. She is as ignorant as Bush. - peticsu, on 08/30/2008, -15/+183this woman is an extreme right wing religious-nut...she doesnt think rape victims should have access to abortions...
- BotchaMcCoola, on 08/30/2008, -9/+154No problem. How long does it take to teach creationism?. Ten minutes max. Six thousand years ago God created everything using divine magic. The Devil planted a lot of dinosaur bones and other rational scientific evidence like carbon dating to confuse mankind.
- spookyttws, on 08/29/2008, -13/+149I promise I won't come into your private church and teach Science. Please return the favor and not come into our public schools and teach Creationism/Intelligent Design/Head-in-the-Groundism.
- rocketman42, on 08/29/2008, -16/+141While we might be mocking this, it may have actually been a bonus for McCain. It helps him reach out to that evangelical base which doesn't like him much.
- brstilson, on 08/30/2008, -8/+128People who advocate the teaching of creationism in schools don't want both to be taught, no matter how hard they try to state otherwise. The creationist movement is using the "wedge" strategy in order to eventually supplant biological science with their bronze age fairy tales. Creationism is NOT science. It cannot be tested, verified, and does not have one shred of observable evidence. The only arguments for it are old, tired, and have been repeatedly answered, debated, and dismissed. Ben Stein made a movie called "Expelled," but in reality, creationism wasn't expelled from the scientific arena, it flunked out, over a century ago.
What kind of creationism is Palin advocating? That the earth is only 6,000 years old, something that is demonstratably false, and on par with the belief it is flat? Is she advocating that we teach children all the animals that exist today appeared roughly the same time and in their current forms, something that just by looking at the fossil record we know is false (no bunnies in the precambrian, etc. etc.)? Does she want science teachers to teach that birds and fish appeared at the same time, even though all available evidence suggests otherwise?
Creationism is the denial and willful ignorance of the entire science of biology. It ignores the evidence against it, either by failing to acknowledge or pooh-poohing it. It provides no test, no way for it to be false, and is pushed by people who have no idea what evolution really is. Species change over time, that is a evolution, that is the fact. The animals we see millions of years ago are different than what we see today, and we do not see any of the major species in modern times around back then. Genesis got it WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, but morons like Palin want to destroy the already dismal biology education we have in this country. - ScoobyG, on 08/30/2008, -7/+126There's no ***** 'debate' to be had.
You don't teach science and fairy tales as if they were on equal footings. - ALPHABETlQUE, on 02/01/2009, -15/+119Oh *****.
- redcolumbine, on 08/30/2008, -13/+110All right, then history classes should give equal consideration to the Communist viewpoint, English classes should include Ebonics, and math classes proofs of trickle-down economics. And the cafeteria should include candy as a basic food group.
- alappat1, on 08/30/2008, -2/+97True, in that case, we should teach children about Flying Spaghetti Monsterism. May those students be blessed by His Noodly Appendage.
rAmen! - zephyear, on 08/30/2008, -5/+91how about we teach astrology along with astronomy while we're at it
or how about alchemy along with chemistry
or phrenology with neurology
same ***** thing - jakereilly, on 08/29/2008, -5/+89Seconded. It's common sense. Unfortunately religious people don't seem to get it.
- slugicide, on 08/30/2008, -11/+90Little Known Fact: Sarah Palin is Governor of a state with a population smaller than 16 US cities.
- nomonkey, on 08/30/2008, -4/+82I am not surprised that she is ignorant. I am surprised so many here are equally ignorant.
One is science, one is not. You don't teach them "alongside" each other.
If students want to hear every religion's version of "creation," have them take a theology class.
Pretending that creationism and evolution are on equally academic footing is idiotic and a lot of you should be ashamed of yourselves. - hektur, on 08/30/2008, -3/+75Please don't pray in our schools, and I promised not to spread knowledge in your church. - Awesome bumber sticker
- workingsmart, on 08/30/2008, -3/+75You'd be better off dead than in a coma, imagine how far gone the country will be after 8 years. Would you really want to wake up to that?
- Strykar, on 08/30/2008, -2/+68No use. He can't use a computer.
- rocketman42, on 08/29/2008, -5/+69macweirdo, I guess it depends on your definition of unethical. I personally find trying to force public schools to teach all children your own personal religious views as scientific fact to be unethical. But maybe that's just me.
- zdiggler, on 08/30/2008, -3/+65Man, Daily shows and Colbert Report is going to kick ass if they get elected!
- Tichondrius74, on 08/30/2008, -4/+66In science class? there is nothing scientific about it. may be make a new class called ***** and stick it in there.
- 420buddah, on 08/30/2008, -4/+61Pastafarianism ftw!! Our children need to hear how our holiness the Flying Spaghetti Monster created us and the universe we live in!
- cg4et, on 08/30/2008, -5/+62I think we should teach 1+1=2 AND 1+2=1.
These are both equally viable theories, after all. - workingsmart, on 08/30/2008, -13/+68Imagine what's going through McCains simple brain:
I want to be president. I want all the power. I want to be able to bomb iran and whoever else makes me mad... and give me pretty ladies too. Yummy pretty ladies. I don't care what I have to say or do, just give me the pretty ladies and the big red button. - alappat1, on 08/30/2008, -5/+59Really? So all those families of varying faith's (Buddhist, Hindu, Jain etc) have no problem with their children being taught Christian beliefs in schools....?!
I think not! - inactive, on 08/30/2008, -1/+54Evolution is a scientifically-established theory*. Creationism is not**. That is a fact.
So, even if Darwin's theory isn't the only possible answer to life's origins, should something that is not science, be taught in a science class room?
Hint: If you answer "yes", you're wrong.

In an interview Thursday, Palin said she meant only to say that discussion of alternative views should be allowed to arise in Alaska classrooms:
“I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”
She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum.
Members of the state school board, which sets minimum requirements, are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Legislature.
“I won’t have religion as a litmus test, or anybody’s personal opinion on evolution or creationism,” Palin said. - brstilson, on 08/30/2008, -5/+54I think the government should mandate that scientists be allowed to go into any church and teach evolution to their children. If the religious right is going to demand their presence in the secular school system, then it's only fair that us in the secular world be able to tell their children our side of the story too, right?
- wierdaaron, on 08/30/2008, -6/+54Evangelicals would vote for an autistic wombat so long as it didn't believe in evolution.
- Br3ach, on 08/29/2008, -6/+54"A prayer, a prayer in a public school!? GOD has no place within these walls! Flanders is history!"
- alappat1, on 08/30/2008, -8/+54yeah.. who needs vaccines, medicine, surgery equipment, anaesthetics, x ray machines, MRI's, computers, cars, planes, ships, submarines, satellites, farming equipment, sewage treatment plants............................ oh wait!
- Ne007, on 08/30/2008, -1/+45Could all Christians be like you?
- brstilson, on 08/30/2008, -7/+51Great, we should also allow astrologers, psychics, and flat-earthers, since scientific fact is just a matter of personal opinion.
- bassoondux, on 08/30/2008, -1/+4313 garage doors
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -11/+50She's a woman, and she's willing to abuse her power for personal use.
So they hope women are dumb enough to vote GOP just because they have one of their token women running.
No one is dumb enough to think she could actually make a difference, do they? Supposedly she's against corruption, so how can she stand to be associated with the GOP? - Shadic, on 08/30/2008, -0/+38And think about his medical bill!
- LiberalKid, on 08/30/2008, -1/+39Well its really quite simple, you can test and compare the DNA of two animals likewise with similar characteristics.
Now please inform me of how you can possibly check creationism. Also enlighten me as to why fossils from different periods are never found together and how so many scientists have gotten isotopic dating wrong.. - onefish2, on 08/30/2008, -7/+45You can learn all you want about creationism in school. Just go to Sunday school.
And whatever happened to separation of Church and state in this country?
Like the other dude said if McCain adn this small town wack lady win, put me in a coma and wake me when they're done finishing Dubya's destruction of this once great country. - Echota, on 01/05/2009, -12/+50Sarah Palin Is A Creationist

http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/press_rele ... - mrsteveman1, on 08/30/2008, -0/+37UTKengineer: You are showing your relative (and probably complete) lack of understanding in this area.
Have you ever heard of the study of genetics? Yea, you can sort of tell which animals are closely related in evolutionary terms by looking at their genes.
So if i want to test the hypothesis that humans evolved from primates i can look at the genes of both species and compare them. Pretty simple and effective.
And remember we use (and trust) genetics to establish all sorts of other things, like paternity for children, etc. So you should think a bit before you toss out genetics and evolution entirely in some kind of quest to promote one specific religions beliefs in schools. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -10/+47And it goes to show how unethical the evangelicals would be to vote for someone they don't like just because he panders to them.
- zephyear, on 08/30/2008, -1/+37one of science
the other is theology
guess which one belongs in science class and which one doesn't. - Tichondrius74, on 08/30/2008, -1/+36Because it is not ***** science it is religion.
