- MorganMghee, on 08/21/2008, -9/+178It's not a 'Gaff' when you meant it.
- cg4et, on 08/22/2008, -4/+132In fairness, McCain really isn't all that up to date on the water issue. Usually he just has one of Cindy's maids buy it for him by the bottle.
- zeroeffect, on 08/22/2008, -5/+72Bush was a C student and his Dad pulled strings to get him into an Ivy League school.
McCain was bottom of his class but his Admiral dad pulled string to get him into Annapolis (and even become a pilot -- despite crashing 4 + 1 times).
Who would you prefer perform open heart surgery.... The doctor with a 99% survival rate or the one with a 50% survival rate?
Now who should run the most powerful nation in the world.
We've seen what a C student can do to the country. It is time for change.
McCain is a Third Bush Term! - antipoet, on 08/22/2008, -4/+55It's amazing the number of these missteps McCain can make and still win so many people over with those inane 30 second ads.
- WasabiBomb, on 08/22/2008, -2/+45Actually, a "gaff" is a spear with a hook, used for fishing.
A "gaffe", on the other hand, is an accidental misstatement. - avasol, on 08/21/2008, -15/+51Water lobbyists. Only in America. ;-)
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -13/+48"McCain told The Pueblo Chieftan last week that he wants to renegotiate the 1922 Colorado River compact to re-appropriate water from the upper basin states, like Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming, where the river originates and give it to lower basin states like California, and his home state of Arizona."
Nothing like getting some power and then forcing a new deal down their throats, eh McLame? - davidryal, on 08/21/2008, -9/+42idiot
- afx1, on 08/22/2008, -3/+35whoah whoah easy on the criticism. this man was a pow. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/21/16410/0565 ...
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -6/+38McCain inherited his foot-in-mouth disease from being born in Panama.
- EllieElliott, on 08/21/2008, -6/+33*IT SHOULD!*
/oops sorry about the all caps there, got a bit carried away./ - somegeologist, on 08/22/2008, -2/+28Oh, Magoo, You’ve Done It Again!
- stubarwick, on 08/22/2008, -2/+26For anyone who doesn't know water is in highly limited supply in the Western United States, especially when snowpack levels drop. Luckily this year it wasn't so bad otherwise McCain would have really slipped cause it would be on everyone's mind. But still I'm hoping this story takes notice, as I am from Colorado and know the importance of water rights in my state.
- WasabiBomb, on 08/22/2008, -3/+26Wow, you're still using a candidate's choice of lettuce to decide the vote? That's pretty childish.
- JekJob, on 08/22/2008, -3/+25McCain doesn't even have a solid base in his home state. He just ends up embarrassing people because he doesn't know what the hell he's doing.
- SkinnerBox, on 08/22/2008, -2/+23Maybe while he's at it, he can pledge to bury all the nuclear waste in Colorado instead of Yucca Mountain as well. All the other states problems can be solved at the expense of Colorado. He can just call it the "***** Colorado Doctrine." He'll lose Colorado but win the Presidency.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -4/+23Weak, I expect more out of my trolls. Go back and try again.
- DreKor, on 08/22/2008, -1/+20It's not socialism, it's resource redistribution. But then again, he was a POW, so I guess it all evens out.
- BaudiIROCZ, on 08/22/2008, -2/+21Maybe because those 30 second ads are the only thing many Americans see. You don't actually think that majority of Americans watch the news or spend their time researching stuff. I ***** you not, I know a girl who wasn't aware that Obama had gotten the nomination over Hillary.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 08/22/2008, -0/+18In politics, a gaff is when someone tell's the truth...
- MattB123, on 08/22/2008, -2/+19Ooh. Insightful.
I bet it's less than good ol' iceberg lettuce, or raising cattle, or keeping your H2 nice and shiny.
And it's nice that you are so concerned with those poor Africans without enough water. $1 appears to buy about 26.4 Gallons of fresh water in Kenya. Being so in touch and concerned with these issues I figured you'd already know this. - juvserr, on 08/22/2008, -3/+20Agree wit dobbinmon - Mccain is clueless, and the fact that his own people are on 24/7 keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't flub is proof.
Everyone in this country needs to wake up and realize the continental water table is shrinking and we are heading for a serious problem in coming decades over WATER, of all things.
Reminds me of Jack Nicholson in "chinatown" (great movie) where murder and mayhem was the result of water rights - lets hope whoever gets elected focuses some attention on this issue, it is IMPORTANT. - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -2/+18Oh wow, LMAO - McCain's made quite a few blunders, but this takes the taco. You do NOT ***** with the Western states when it comes to water. Good thing the Democratic convention's in Denver and the Republican convention's in St. Paul - if it were the other way around, there'd be a lynch mob on hand.
- funkyloki, on 08/22/2008, -2/+17Don't ever show us why McCain is right or why we are wrong to support Obama. No, just go on making childish statements that in no way further your cause. Idiot.
- GoneGreen, on 08/22/2008, -4/+19People who aren't from Colorado have no clue that this issue is a lot bigger than it seems. Living in both Arizona and Colorado for numerous years, I can assure you that this issue will have legs with Colorado voters... I remember when all of our grass died because of water rationing, and yet the Arizonians frolic in an abundance of water. It's official McAssclown has just lost Colorado! Yippee
- ModX, on 08/22/2008, -4/+19Is this man for real?
Where can I buy the rose colored glasses that the majority of the Republican party is wearing? - barfooz, on 08/22/2008, -0/+15You're clearly confused. The Colorado River flows through Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California. It doesn't belong to any of those states, but is rather shared among them. Also, have you heard of the Hoover Dam, the biggest dam in the world at the time of its construction? I'd certainly call that an impediment of the natural flow of the river. The issue here is not whether some state is impeding the flow, because we obviously are; the question is how to share the river equitably.
- pintomp3, on 08/22/2008, -2/+16well, not only in america:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochabamba_protests_o ...
The Cochabamba protests of 2000, also known as "The Cochabamba Water Wars," were a series of protests that took place in Cochabamba, Bolivia's third largest city, between January and April 2000 because of the privatization of the municipal water supply. - Wilarseny, on 08/22/2008, -1/+14I imagine we're going to be seeing a lot more of them in the near future...
- HolmesSPH, on 08/22/2008, -6/+18Agreed Antipoet.. How someone can LIE to America so many times, and people over look his lies because he claims Christianity is just ridiculous! Listen I am Pro-Life, but I choose good leaders not my own agenda... Bush may have been a Pro-Life but what's moral about the state of our country as-is? What's worse, seeing millions of people not being able to afford food (which BTW would be 100 times worse without abortion) or allowing abortions? What would we even do with the millions of mothers every year who would break this law? We can't put them in jail... there's not enough jail space any where! It's a moral decision the mother has to make.. and to see a dirt bag like McCain winning in polls just because of it is sick... How any one can not see through him is beyond me
- jshooter1377, on 08/22/2008, -0/+11Deer Park Natural Spring Water
(Made in China) - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+10That has almost nothing to do with infrastructure and everything to do with the actual amount of precipitation in Australia.
- bobartig, on 08/22/2008, -4/+14Good. I want to watch him burn. I mean figuratively. I don't need that musty "burnt-old-man" smell lingering in my clothes.
- kurtzmoo, on 08/22/2008, -2/+12I like his lead-in “I don’t think there’s any doubt the major, major issue is water and can be as important as oil."
He's right, you know, sometimes you have to drink something and oil just isn't as refreshing as water. - Distraughtite, on 08/22/2008, -4/+14stupid
- IphtashuFitz, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10That's probably because with all his houses he probably spends just enough time there to qualify to be a senator for the state.
- SinisterBunni, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10You have got to be kidding me, right? You are calling Obama an idiot compared to that steaming bag of ass jelly McCain? McCain was 5th from the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy. It's not like you have to be a friggin genius to graduate from a military academy. I mean his daddy was some big admiral, it's not like he was going to get kicked out or anything. Just like bush, McCain was just buttered and squirted through.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9Seriously - I hear all the time about how horrible Obama is, but I very rarely hear a single word about McCain about the strengths of his policies. And when I do hear something, it's things like, say, his plan to simultaneously cut taxes and balance the budget, all while maintaining the war in Iraq - nothing concrete, no explanation of where he plans to get that money, he just says it'll happen.
- jetx29, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9Actually, by some measures, McCain currently is winning slightly in CO. If this is enough to swing it the other way (at least according to the realclearpolitics.com No Toss-ups map), it would swing the current state of the race (if it were had today) from a McCain victory to an Obama victory. In reality, a few votes can make an appreciable difference in the electoral college system.
- funkyloki, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8Beautifully put. I was just commenting how the people who support McCain here never seem to put up or shut up when it comes to defending him, but have no problems whatsoever telling us why Obama is a bad candidate, again with no proof whatsoever.
But your way of saying it is so much more subtle...and better! - pintomp3, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9he is very well verse on the water issue. he realizes that we need to deliver bottled hot water to dehydrated babies.
- funkyloki, on 08/22/2008, -2/+10Not to mention the FACT that he:
-crashed 4 planes in training before he ever got to combat
-was almost at the bottom of his class, and in no way should have ever been granted any kind of flight status, especially combat flight (they usually save those spots for the best of the best)
-that all that happened almost 40 years ago, and should not be the major defining characteristic when -we judge who this man is, considering how he was treated as a POW (the Vietnamese say McCain was singled out for softer treatment because of his relation to the Admiralty).
Many other Vietnam War vets will not support McCain, regardless of his link as fellow veteran or POW. Why should we based on any of that? - KarlH, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8Arizona needs a bigger share of that H2O. Think of all the dehydrated babies! How else will they get their bottled hot water?
- barfooz, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9CO, NM and NV have 19 electoral votes combined and each are toss-ups in this election. Of course he's paying attention to the western states.
- sharpfork, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9You can have a pair for the low-low price of your soul.
- kokodhem, on 08/22/2008, -0/+730 second lies, you mean. He's pushing the poison pablum, and the ignorant masses in the red states are eating it up.
- publiclurker, on 08/22/2008, -1/+8It's his flag pin that puts him over the top.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+8"Bush was a C student"
Puhleeze. McCain was a D student at best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srbX26vp57c - SinisterBunni, on 08/22/2008, -0/+7And what was wrong with Carter... *****.
