- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -12/+158If McCain loses this thing, which looks likely, I predict he will self-combust.
- avataros, on 11/02/2008, -6/+92When you're 74 (in 2010), and a likely failed presidential run only 2 years behind you, it's your first real opportunity to leave the public sphere gracefully. There's a fortune to be made in the speaking circuit and yet still remain influential and respected as an elder - just look at Bill Clinton and Colin Powell. It's time, John.
- Awesomecat, on 11/02/2008, -4/+90He ought to spend his remaining years reclaiming his self from 2000, and coast on that dignity instead of throwing himself to the political dogs again.
- m4532v, on 11/02/2008, -6/+56That's what happens when you sell your soul.
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 11/03/2008, -11/+54What Senate seat? McCain missed more Senate votes than any other senator. He's a senator in title only.
- meirav, on 11/02/2008, -3/+39There are way too many variables to try to predict whether McCain will lose his seat – or even run – in 2010.
- dngermouse, on 11/02/2008, -9/+40if he makes it alive to 2010...
- truspark, on 11/03/2008, -1/+25double Maverick
- Bakdan87, on 11/03/2008, -1/+23You know, I'm getting tired of this election cycle. Can we please wait as long as possible before starting the next one?
- jtotheoe, on 11/03/2008, -4/+25Dugg, just to make you mad.
- poprocksandsoda, on 11/03/2008, -14/+34Not only will McCain lose the Presidential race, but in 2 years he'll be forced out of AZ as well. It's time the Republicans start listening to what American citizens need instead of big corporations and banks.
Obama/Biden 2008 - obliviousfool, on 11/03/2008, -5/+25Just let me know where to donate to his opposition.
- digifreak642, on 11/02/2008, -4/+22McCain will be running away from his seat...
`cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run! - minorthreat, on 11/03/2008, -1/+18my dong can go far in your mouth
- pintomp3, on 11/03/2008, -2/+19it would be rather comical for him to lose another election because of a popular female governor.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/03/2008, -8/+23X could go Y in Z:
Richard Simons could go Straight in 2010...
Your turn! - MediaWeasel, on 11/02/2008, -7/+22If he even considers running again he will be eaten alive. Don;t do it John.Much as I hate the campaign you've run and the hate you've generated in this race, please do try and end your days with some dignity. Retire from politics.
- angrykeyboarder, on 11/03/2008, -1/+16If McCain loses, I can't wait to see him crawl back to the senate. If (got forbid) he wins, the Governor will appoint a Democrat to fill out his term.
- jknevitt, on 11/03/2008, -2/+17Democrats aren't proud Americans? Napolitano isn't a proud American? I guess Arizona must be on of those "pro-America" places Palin was talking about.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -12/+26"Calling it quits"???? NOooooooooo. McCain NEVER gives up! He's a war hero! MCCAIN MCCAIN MCCAIN MCCAIN! JESUS JESUS JESUS JESUS!
Palin-Jesus 2012 - sfelton, on 11/03/2008, -1/+14If Napolitano runs for Senate I'm going to vote for her, even if McCain changes. We have so many bad politicians in Arizona (Sheriff Joe, John McCain, Andrew Thomas, etc.) that it is easy for someone like Napolitano to stick out.
- Phearce, on 11/03/2008, -1/+13What? Are you questioning the commitment of Senator Palpatine? If he was not in the Senate, rest assured he was addressing matters of utmost importance to the future of the Republic.
http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/palpati ... - brstilson, on 11/03/2008, -0/+11Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy have both been in office since the 50s.
- nicksauce, on 11/03/2008, -0/+10Except for the south.
- angrykeyboarder, on 11/03/2008, -4/+14Clinton is a youngster compared to McCain who is old for his age.
- Nidy1, on 11/03/2008, -3/+13"As of today, McCain is the 24th oldest member of the Senate. By January- when John Warner (age 81) will retire, Ted Stevens (age 84) and Elizabeth Dole (age 72) will likely have been replaced by Democrats who are now leading their Senate races- McCain will drop to 21st on the list."
There are 21 people over the age of 72 in the Senate!? Anyone else see a problem with this? - Baldar, on 11/03/2008, -3/+13Don't you mean it's time the Republicans and Democrats start listening to what American citizens need instead of big corporations and banks?
I like how you can make that comment, then say "Obama/Biden 2008" who BOTH voted for the bailout package.
If I were you, I'd lay off the purple koolaid a bit. - TheInformer, on 11/03/2008, -2/+12Here's another breaking news story for therealright:
in 2050 some states will have representatives that are of a different political persuasion than they are now. Gee, what a shock the future, eh? - MakanGuru, on 11/03/2008, -2/+12the man needs to retire....
- JimmyTheHutt, on 11/03/2008, -7/+16You are likely correct, but for the wrong reasons.
I have faith in America's ability to be stupid enough to elect John McCain. - jsmith39, on 11/03/2008, -5/+13or if (for example) American citizens exercise their constitutional rights to vote for whom they think will make a good senator as opposed to brainlessly parroting the neocon agenda like some people around here. *cough* amightdouche *cough*
Oh yeah that's right... it's the liberals that want grant amnesty to the millions of Mexican's living in the US... why did I think that was Republican thing? Oh, right... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,107692,00.html
Good Morning mightydumbass... just think two more days and adopt a retard week is over, then I can go back to just laughing at your posts instead of taking the time to point out how stupid you are. - inactive, on 11/03/2008, -2/+9The race may be close in a whole host of states but McCain will lose this election if he does not win each and every single one of the following 9 states: Florida, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, Arizona, and Colorado .... provided that Obama wins Pennsylvania.
So the statistical chances of him pulling this off is 5%. Would you make an investment of ANY KIND, monetary, time, effort, seat equity, what ever, if you only had a 5% chance of winning? - JoeMondo, on 11/03/2008, -5/+12He doesn't need the fortune in speaking fees - he ensured that by dumping his disabled first wife for the heiress.
But he really ought to be about reclaiming his old reputation. - inactive, on 11/03/2008, -0/+7It seems like once a guy has chosen to be active in politics past 70, they just keep going until death. Strom Thurmond, for example, then there's Robert Byrd and Jim Bunning right now. And there are several very old democrats in the House, who basically are automatically re-elected every 2 years, who seem to be just staying in office until they kick the bucket. One has actually been in office since the mid-1950s, I think.
I dunno what it is exactly... but I guess once you're in your mid-70s you figure why change anything? - djodorg, on 11/02/2008, -3/+10lols
- flyingclutchman, on 11/03/2008, -0/+6now im not sayin hes a gold digga, but he dont mess around with no broke bitches
- Minters, on 11/03/2008, -1/+7I may not be American, but I do pay an interest in politics (British, European and American) and as such, I have heard of John McCain in the past. The John McCain that is running for the Presidency now, is not the John McCain I have read so much about in the past 10 years and I firmly believe that is down to the people he has surrounded himself with for this campaign. Hopefully, when he graciously accepts defeat to Obama in the coming days (Please John... dont go trying any lawsuits or anything. Hold on to your last shred of dignity before it is gone forever) he can rid himself of the parasites around him and reclaim his former self.
The John McCain of 10 years ago would probably be beating Obama in the polls right now and would definately beat any contenders for his seat in the senate. McCain WAS a man for the people. McCain WAS a man who crossed party lines to get the best results. McCain WAS a man who took on his own party on issues that he didnt agree with. I think we can all agree, that even if you are voting for Obama, it is time we got the old (no pun intended) John McCain back. - kinseyincanada, on 11/03/2008, -7/+13for Christ sake its 2 years away, and he might even be president (god i hope not) but come on this is pretty stupid.
- fredgarvin1138, on 11/03/2008, -4/+10Obviously written by somebody who doesn't live in Arizona. Napolitano? Really? She's re-elected because nobody decent will run against her. But, a Senate seat? That little control freak wouldn't make it running against McCain, or anybody else for that matter.
Oh, and from Pimpofpixels:
"The people of the United States are going to control our government again." - That's the dumbest ***** thing I've read here in a long time. The Republicans may hold business in higher regard than ordinary people, but the Dems just hold themselves in higher regard than ordiary people - "the people" wouldn't be in charge of anything. - WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+5Actually, the economy would benefit from pretty much *any* form of spending, provided the money remains in circulation instead of being squirreled away. So donating is a perfectly viable option.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -11/+16mcain will be dead by then ***** son
- lewystud, on 11/03/2008, -1/+6So its almost as if he already lost this race...?
- Glansbourg, on 11/03/2008, -2/+7The 2010 mid-term will witness a backlash similar to the Newt Gingrich-led one in 1994. Mark my words.
- dotuan, on 11/03/2008, -3/+8He is too old for work now
- cyrusuncc, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5I hate when people use the phrase "his self"
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5About as certain as people were for a Kerry win in '04.
- RLWaite, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4in number of diggs, yes, yes you are
- publiclurker, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5Anyone care to be that his wife leaves? With the end of the political aspirations, why stay with someone who has so little respect for her.
- deduction, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4The idiocy of Arizonans, combined with an inability to elect responsible leaders, never ceases to amaze me. As a citizen of the state, it seems that every election we teeter closer to the outer edge of sanity - perhaps this time we will cross the threshold with the passage of Prop 102.
One thing I do enjoy about Arizona: relaxed gun laws. -
