- kerms, on 10/10/2007, -10/+48***** the skeptics, Ron Paul 2008
- LordSkywalker, on 10/10/2007, -4/+29which asked Republicans to...name their choice for 2008 presidential nomination.
Try finishing the description right. Should've cut it off at "poll". - stevensj2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21At first, I was seriously wondering why the title focused on the 5th place, rather than 1st.
This article is based in Phoenix, so keep that in mind if you had similar confusion. - whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21A straw poll in my state that I didn't hear about? God I feel like a ***** ignoramus now.
- evilregis, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Thom Hartmann played a couple clips of Paul from the debates and he was getting some warm response from the crowd. It also sounded like Hannity was in fine form. I heard two clips of Ron Paul being asked a question and both times Hannity (that's who Hartmann's producer identified the laugher as) was giggling and laughing like the classless ***** that he is.
- Torker, on 10/10/2007, -11/+24Ron Paul is the only hope for this country.
Stand for the Republic before it falls. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15So we can look forward to a Paul with touch capabilities and built-in wifi by the end of the year?
- 8bit_Hero, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18Paul is the new Apple
- diggydougie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12So her is an article about a poll, where they discuss the 2nd, 3rd place winners more than the winner.
Bias anyone? - kirrim, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Another straw poll with a (minor) victory for a candidate who isn't necessarily popular with the main-stream media, nor getting any face time with the main-stream media, but who is getting lots of press on the Internet. Is it possible that more and more Americans are tuning out the main-stream media and getting the majority of their news unfiltered from the Internet?
How long until the media conglomerates take notice of this trend, and act to stop it? Should we be on the lookout for increased attacks on net neutrality if this trend continues? - garyinthehouse, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Hell yeah
- Quick2822, on 10/10/2007, -7/+15Last night's debate is only going to bring more positive attention to Ron Paul.
It's only a matter of time.. - thedoctor, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Dobbinmon, why don't you go to Iran and be ready for the war there if Ron doesn't win ...
RON PAUL '08 (and '12) - tucsonwc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8McCain is toast. When he didn't stand up to Bush his entire term and instead kowtowed to him, it got him NOTHING.
He now has no credibility. Another Rovian victim. - DangerCollie, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11I don't agree with all of Dr. Paul's positions, particularly on abortion rights, but I believe him when he says something. Nominating him would be the smartest thing Republicans could do...but I doubt it will happen. He's not going to play ball with the party leadership and he doesn't support the party platform, with a few exceptions. I think he could beat Hillary but he's the only one. Fred Thompson would go down in flames, as would McCain who seems to have been bent on self-destruction the last two years. Romney...good luck with Mr. Dog On Car. I'd hammer on that the entire campaign. Guiliani? Maybe, but I don't think he could beat the Hilary machine, especially with Bill on the campaign trail.
His candidacy has done more to highlight the divisions inside the Republican party than unite them behind a candidate. The party has lost its way because it no longer stands for anything. I think Ron Paul would lend more character to the party leadership than they deserve. - FearNoEvil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Ghouliani will make Bush look like an angel! Wake up America!
- kurtwinter, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9If no other reason than to spite MSM, vote Paul or Kucinich. Face it, both will be a ***** better than what we've ever had, and Kucinich's wife would be the most elegant first lady since jackie.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10So what exactly is the headline? McCain places fifth or Paul gets first? Strange headline, we don't normally talk about the guy who scored in the 'middle'.
- kahlessreborn, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11He is my presidential vote no matter what party he runs in.
- youareretarded, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Is that who was laughing? I thought it was another candidate.
Either way I thought it was not only disrespectful but incredibly childish. - GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -2/+8I don't know who I'm voting for yet, but I can teel you that America is fed up with mainstream corporate candidates, repub and dem. That's why Kucinich and Paul are polling so well.
- kinkysexradio, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13Ron Paul is the iPod of the GOP. Digg on!
- SheilaNoya, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9According to the Fox News poll last night, Ron Paul won by a landslide. However, Fox News doesn't even have a news story about him today and no mention on their web site that he won. Face it folks - Fox News hates Ron Paul and since they are the official mouthpiece for the GOP, Ron Paul doesn't stand a chance of getting the GOP's nomination. Looks like cross-dressing Giullianni will be your presidential candidate. Don't feel too bad, it looks like the Dems will be stuck with Hillary. No good choices (again).
- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5First it was 'social networking popularity doesn't translate into mainstream internet opinion' then it turned into 'internet support shown from internet polling does not translate to boots on the ground', now its 'straw polling does not translate to the general populace'.
I see a trend. - Gypsy61, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Only one Paul-o story today? And its a repeat of yesterday's? Come on guys, you're slackin', put down the Folgers and get crackin!!!
- blorc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Even if it is based in Pheonix, it's titled that way because of the same reason you constantly see Dr. Paul omitted from the news. Heaven forbid they simply write who won the poll. Then again, I understand it may bring more readers to do the latter.
- TheRealM3D, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Help us Obiwan Kenobi. You're our only hope!
- shaka999, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10Paul definitely isn't the media darling that Apple is.
I'd say he is more like Creative Zen. A better product without all the hype. - redwhale, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I haven't been able to find much press at all about this, much less about his success in last night's debate. CNN even goes as far to partially cover his side debate with Huckabee and declare Brown the loser without any mention of his closing statements which won the argument. If you know of any, please link some web polls and get the response out there about who really won this debate.
- Noods, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It was at the State Fair.
- evilregis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'm not entirely sure. That's just what one guy said. I have since read elsewhere that it was Guiliani doing the laughing. So I have no idea, but the latter is even worse in my opinion. Regardless, whoever it was is classless and as you said -- disrespectful and childish.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5It's an important center in the lucrative crab cakes market...
- MillionsLivio, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Though I am a Paul supporter, I too found it odd the title wasn't, "Ron Paul wins Maryland Straw Poll!!111".
- theballdredge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4see above, generally you do in that persons home state (mccain is R-AZ)
- tucsonwc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4actually you suck. so, digging you down.
- useful, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Even if he loses the primaries it looks like he will have enough votes to influence the positions people take for 2012
- rizla420, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think you've given an accurate assessment of how whats percieved doesnt correlate to the reality on the ground. What you fail to see in your analogy is that the word is getting out, I spread the word. I read posts by people who say they've just heard about RP through Digg. You might not think one extra person makes a difference, but it does. One person tells another, the other tells another and you have a viral spread. Look at what Ubuntu has done for linux, its peeking the curiosity of a lot of the BIG companies to start porting or even loosely opening up their products to the open source movement. Yes, i agree with you that if you base reality on what shows up on digg it differs than whats out on the street, but every movement has to have a beginning with a concentrated base from which to spread.
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Thanks for that over-simplification. However I agree in principal, Gravel is currently my favorite. I like seeing RP doing well though, gives me some hope for the integrity of the political process.
- youareretarded, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4That's what I like about him. There is no way in hell any of his policies would go into affect but at least he will be looking after my rights and not ***** on them like they are some "goddamn piece of paper".
- garryw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4It was a secret poll for internet insiders.
- hmac, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Go, Ron, Go!
- Smoove, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"i agree with a lot of what paul says, though its EXTREMELY unrealistic."
Talk about eating your cake and having it too. You just said you agree with RP, AND that he's out of touch with reality. Which means, of course, that YOUR views are also "EXTREMELY unrealistic"... - duerra, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's right! Conform! w00t w00t! Our voices mean nothing! We are at the disposal of corporate media! The information revolution is all for naught! We can't take back the power!
Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong. However, that is no excuse to stop trying. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Their cries will just change to "we got cheated" and "voter fraud". They are unable to accept the fact that he is a walking punch line and has no chance of winning anything. It makes them feel better about themselves to blame others for "cheating" them and "holding them back",
- Winters, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Random Samplings from the subgroup of citizens that still use Land Lines is not a random sampling.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Except they arnt. In any real poll that is taken, both are doing awful.
- keenonfreedom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Go Ron Paul!
- lostsinner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Way to vote on a single topic. The likelihood that any two people are going to agree on all possible subjects is astronomically improbable. Instead of focusing on one point as your criteria - like the evangelicals and fundamentalists do - why not examine the candidates' platforms and make an informed decision about which one most closely matches your priorities?
- legendxx, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7I cant wait to hear all you ron paul babies cry when he gets 2% of the vote
- Jonsblckhwk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3you are an idiot...
