- rockstarhour, on 07/07/2008, -3/+49Omg, brilliance! Can I just go vote now? Seriously, I'm convinced.
/sarcasm - michaelpinto, on 07/08/2008, -1/+40This is an Onion headline, ummm right?
- DivingforDiggs, on 07/08/2008, -0/+39The dude is on crack, its official.
- pintomp3, on 07/09/2008, -1/+32he's claiming he will be able to balance the budget with the savings from the victories in iraq and afghanistan. he's compounding the promises of one delusion with the fantasies of another.
- Lax32, on 07/09/2008, -1/+31If GTA4 taught me anything about life its that you have to finish the mission to get paid.
So I guess he is right. - elshizzo, on 07/08/2008, -3/+31FYI: Paying off the deficit is a phrase that doesn't make sense. The deficit is a yearly amount that resets at the beginning of each year. Therefore what McCain said probably was true [though it was nonsense]. What we are actually talking about is the DEBT not the DEFICIT. And yes, the idea that winning the war will pay off the DEBT is ridiculously stupid.
- smacksaw, on 07/09/2008, -3/+28So I guess it went down like this:
US: Hellz yeahz we can whoop Iraq!
China: No you can't, foolish Americans!
US: It's on! How much do you want to bet?
China: How about 2 trillion?
US: Loan us the money and then forgive our debt?
China: Yup. But to make it interesting you have make McCain the president.
US: What if we lose?
China: You owe us the money AND you have to adopt Chinglish as the official language of the USA.
US: Deal! - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -3/+24What a senile piece of *****.
- keyforce, on 07/07/2008, -4/+24Don't bother clicking, the entire article is in the description.
- MendotaLee, on 07/09/2008, -1/+21McCain 08' - the comedic gift that keeps on giving...
- pintomp3, on 07/09/2008, -1/+20the budget will be balanced in 100 years.
- Tenlow, on 07/09/2008, -0/+18Wal-Mart won't work in Iraq, there's too much competition. There's been a Target on every street corner for some time now.
- sugarazor, on 07/09/2008, -1/+17Isn't this like the time Cheney said the war would pay for itself and Rupert Murdoch saying the war would bring us $20 a barrel gasoline?
- blanketfury, on 07/09/2008, -0/+13Be patient.
A hundred years is not that long. - svensko, on 07/09/2008, -0/+13Does this mean that they will start setting up wal-marts in Iraq now?
- Jareth86, on 07/09/2008, -2/+14This guy is ***** goofy. How the hell is he still anywhere near Obama in the polls?
- haydesigner, on 07/09/2008, -1/+13Lower taxes (for rich people) means more money for rich people, who conveniently have accountants and tax lawyers who find them loopholes (that you and I can't use) to have them pay even less taxes.
Wait, how does this help me again? - phunlee, on 07/09/2008, -2/+13Damn, too bad we'll never actually have 'victory' in Iraq. I guess we're screwed.
- lordblue, on 07/08/2008, -0/+10OK, now how many more years..?
- Drahkar, on 07/09/2008, -0/+10Sadly no. McCain really is this out of touch with reality.
We can all remember his 'Walking in the green zone is like taking a stroll in the mid-west' comments, right? - Samo89, on 07/09/2008, -0/+9"victory in iraq will pay off deficit"
hmm, correct me if im mistaken but doesnt the fact that we completed the primary goal of removing sadaam and his regime mean that it shoulda alrdy paid off the deficit
how about PULL OUT NOW AND THE DEFICIT WON'T INCREASE ANYMORE - haydesigner, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8It is sad that, because of how partisan politics has become, you actually had to put the sarcasm tag there.
- CrazyChair, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8Hey! This guy was in Vietnam. Sounds like someone I want to have a beer with, and that's good enough for me. The rest is just minor details.
- blanketfury, on 07/09/2008, -1/+9"It's a big club, and you ain't in it"
George Carlin, RIP
I guarantee you it's a land grab that you will never benefit from. - DreKor, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8Wait, so by lowering taxes, he's really increasing taxes. Can I have some of what you're smoking?
- notoneofus, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7It's sort of like the old Toyota commercial: "What will you do with all the money you save?" Of course, people didn't have the money to spend on the car in first place, so the money they saved didn't really exist.
And the US government is different how? - blanketfury, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6That's after Starbucks.
- zardoz73, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Brilliant! Except for the fact that Bush and co. have tried exactly that for the past 8 years and look where it got us. If the idea is trickle-down economics, then you need a new idea. Rich people don't stimulate the economy like conservatives seem to believe. Sure, yacht builders, Rolex, and Prada did great the last 10 years, but that's all slowing down. Everything is slowing down.
And by the way, if you're rich, you find ways *around* paying taxes. You don't pay! Isn't it great! So rich folks don't pay taxes and they don't stimulate the economy. Your theory sucks, btw.
Wanna stimulate the economy? Tax the ***** out of the rich and let the middle class (y'know, 95% of America) breathe easier. John McCain is such a disaster I don't know where to start. - haydesigner, on 07/09/2008, -2/+8Backtracking?
Methinks you need to learn the basics of logic and reading comprehension. Just because the Rovian talking heads say it is so, does not mean it is so. - drakke1, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Get some counseling, roboclone
- WoollyMittens, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5I don't think you can even pump up 1.6 trillion dollars worth of oil in 4 years.
- svensko, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6Well, freedom isn't free. It costs a buck fifty. So if you do the math, assuming we free the entire population of Iraq, that'll net us around $41,249,457.00. Sadly the debt is currently at $9,495,868,152,544.04. That leaves us around 9.495826903x10^12 American dollars in the hole. So yeah, you're right, the math doesn't work out.
- johnstar, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7and he shoots lightning from his ass!!!!!!
- MacBookForMe, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5that's even more insane than the current leading team
- drakke1, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5What must it feel like to knowingly lie 24/7 for decades? How can the psychopaths maintain any degree of self respect. Pitiful!!
- bipolarruledout, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4What about the hospital bill? Perhaps "support the troops" is only a limited time offer?
- pintomp3, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5flower shops. so they can great us as liberators.
- ngresonance, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4With the way oil prices are going...
- hellahyphy, on 07/09/2008, -2/+6bullshizzle.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Victory is an elusive ghost-like entity. It can be declared multiple times whenever the occasion calls for it, even when you're losing money and resources in the real world. But the mass media which controls the dumb masses does not equal real world so it's all good for those in power.
- addicted68098, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Before the election McCain seemed somewhat respectable and honest. Currently I am basicly convinced that the odds of so many of these high level officials in government are clearly self loving jerks. Either every president in the past 30-50 years either devolved a minor case of Alzheimer after the primaries or is being held at knife point to do what someone says. The concept of the United States of America being a democracy is a farce. Obama or McCain winning the election is completely irrelevant; whoever wins was hand picked by some organization and not the people.
- adamsteinbaugh, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5That sounds familiar... wait, wasn't it the Bush administration's claim that liberated Iraqi oil would pay for the invasion-occupation many times over?
Now watch the McCain campaign proclaim that voters will greet them with flowers and cheers on the first Tuesday in November! Hurrah! - OrigamiRonin, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Wow Chappy. You go straight from the concept of wealthy people not paying their fair share of taxes to a "socialist state."
"...by being a citizen of the US you have all the opportunity in the world." I agree. Why do you think that is though? Congratulations on being able to retire young. I'd like to know how you managed to do so without educated employees, public roads, or any of the functioning infrastructure that those tax dollars provide for. You see, those opportunities were available to you because of OUR money.
Tell you what, if you don't like it, why don't YOU move to some nice 3rd-world hellhole where the rich are treated like kings and don't have to pay much in taxes
There is a very definite sense of entitlement in this country, and it sickens me as well, but it starts at the top. Just as bad as a poor person claiming that their position is the fault of someone else, is the guy at the top who claims he did it all by himself. - TheSwashbuckler, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Does anyone involved in the McCain campaign have a f-'ing clue?
- jdenzer, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3@Chappync
Amen, I don't want drilling in ANWR or off shore to help lower the price of gas. I'll just sell my home and get another job and work til I'm 80. I don't need the government helping me. They owe me nothing, I'd rather be a slave the rest of my life. This is America and everyone is rich. And poor people don't exist. - aookay, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Think of all the mini-muffin baskets we'll get!
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5There isn't enough oil left in the ground to pay back the debt that his buddy George W raked up while staging this B.S. war. ok ok there prob is enough oil, but we'd basically need to recieve the profits from every single ounce of it to pay W's bill.
McCain might be counting on cashing in on all that Opium profit in Afghanistan since thats the one and only export that country has. - zacharytelschow, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Lower tax rates, particularly in capital gains tax, have historically led to increased revenue as people have more incentive to pursue economic activities.
