Ron Paul has been studying economics since the 60s with some of the best economists of our time. Ever since then he has been witting articles and books on the economy, and he even predicted what we are seeing now in the economy.
the Ron Paul library has some info http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/
I understand if you disagree with him on certain issues, but to say that none of the candidates understand the economy is just wrong. - djohnmalkovich2, on 01/23/2008, -7/+98Oh, *****. And how the hell is he supposed to get us out of recession, possibly depression?
- spartacus409, on 01/23/2008, -20/+85McCain understands murder of women and children, and thats about it.
Mad Bomber McCain will start WW, 3,4,5 all at the same time. - SheilaNoya, on 01/23/2008, -5/+61The LAST thing we need right now is another war mongering tool of the industrial military complex. America can't afford any more wars and we certainly can't afford to turn even more of the world against us. McCain will bankrupt America and we'll collapse like the Soviet Union if we keep thinking that "military might" is the only solution to our problems.

- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -8/+48Damn. If only there were a person running for President with political experience AND military experience AND is an author of several economic books AND is a doctor - you know, in case he needed to save his own life if he was choking on a pretzel. But I shouldn't hold my breath - I guess those kind of candidates don't come around too often.
- Minarchian, on 01/23/2008, -17/+50Come begging to Ron Paul
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -5/+33if that's what you think the you don't know dick about RP
- spartacus409, on 01/23/2008, -4/+29Yes I read your book on the subject. Brilliant.
Hows the mouse finger? - a6n28f, on 01/23/2008, -3/+25Ahem.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul#Books_and_ar ...
And the titles of the 7 books on economics that you've authored are....? - oreonblade, on 01/23/2008, -12/+33The problem is that the other candidates are just as clueless, except they won't admit it.
- dimebonics, on 01/23/2008, -3/+21McCain knew enough about economics to rip off a bunch of people in a Savings and Loans scandal back in the 80's:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five - inactive, on 01/23/2008, -5/+22Ron Paul is by far an expert on economics compared to those NWO puppets.
- fadeout, on 01/23/2008, -5/+21"The economy goes up, it goes down, it goes up, it goes down, it goes up, it goes down, nobody knows why the ***** it happens."
- Lewis Black - inactive, on 01/23/2008, -3/+19erkel, um, i mean herheimer doesn't know dick about economics. if he has the nerve to favor mccain over ron paul in this arena he is an imbecile. go get on your megaphone herkle.
- rarson, on 01/23/2008, -2/+14He doesn't want to bring back the gold standard, he wants to return to asset-backed money. Tangible value. It doesn't make any sense NOT to because our government has yet again illustrated for like the billionth time that it cannot be trusted to not run amok with creating new currency.
- evilbob333, on 01/23/2008, -0/+12Cut taxes and reduce spending.
- doublsh0t, on 01/23/2008, -4/+16haha, at least McCain, unlike Bush, says that he doesn't understand something..
though both are morons - espempire, on 01/23/2008, -0/+11wait, why the hell is this a suprise?
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -13/+24How many economists have been elected president? That's why there is a council of economic advisers!
There goes McCain, telling the truth again. Shame on him. We can't handle the truth! - obelisky, on 01/23/2008, -2/+13aren't you supposed to be saying 'Welcome to McDonald's, can I take your order?'
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -0/+9How's McCain going to start all these new wars when he wants to keep most of our military tied up in Iraq for 100 years if necessary? Oh that's right, the draft! I wonder how many people will be anxious to go fight for the neo-con's New World Order?
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -1/+10I wouldn't vote for Krugman for president either.
- fractalman, on 01/23/2008, -3/+12Stop feeding this ass hole Troll.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -3/+12Actually they used to call him John "Songbird" McCain for giving military secrets to the communists after 4 days of being a POW in exchange for better medical treatment. Funny how forgetful people are, because he's a "War Hero" now?
- ronaldinho, on 01/23/2008, -2/+10sorry, I say Ron Paul is the best Rep candidate available, and I'm not a RP supporter
- tgc1, on 01/23/2008, -0/+8Better a Doctor running the country than another god damned Lawyer.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -0/+8The private central bankers who comprise the "Federal Reserve" would lose their ultimate power.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -0/+8Herkimer56, are you getting paid for this? Why else would you spend all your time on here embarrassing yourself with your constant barrage of asinine comments?
- deadmoo, on 01/23/2008, -1/+8Krugman and Ron Paul would not get along.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -5/+12why do mccains arms look like duck wings? this is a serious question. did this happen during his hanoi hilton experience? why did he block the efforts to bring home his buddies, i.e. the other pow's?
- thall, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7while the other candidates and their supporters only understand it in this way: http://library.thinkquest.org/J003358F/money_tree5 ...
- jlhoben, on 01/23/2008, -1/+7He's perfect then!!!
- deadmoo, on 01/23/2008, -2/+8true
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -3/+9why does his neck look like a bowl of cottage cheese?
- SoulGrub, on 01/23/2008, -1/+7By drastically reducing government spending, including ending the war, you reduce the need to have these taxes. You might want to read up a little more about Ron Paul's proposals, he's not talking out of his ass.
Very drastic ideas however, who can predict what these things will do to the overall economy. - jeffiek, on 01/23/2008, -1/+7"but he wants to bring back the gold standard"
Please get your facts straight. He does NOT want to bring back the gold standard, although he believes it to be better than the paper standard. He wants to allow gold to be used at the same time as existing currency. A competing standard. Let the best currency win.
Why does paper money require a monopoly? What is there to be afraid of in allowing people to voluntarily use gold? - DAaaMan64, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6I... don't... know... I just... have a hard... time reading... your post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- rarson, on 01/23/2008, -0/+5Yeah, sensibility is "special" in this day and age where so many people are absolutely clueless as to how ridiculous our current system is.
- CCB0x45, on 01/23/2008, -0/+5At the time of an economic recession, at least understanding economics, which he says he doesn't would help.
- Truzseeker, on 01/23/2008, -3/+8Honest ? yea he is really honest, so honest that he believes in perpetual war and serving another government. I am all for comments, but some have a very short memory.
- tgc1, on 01/23/2008, -0/+5'Cause you know how well this Fiat Currency system is working. Oh, and paying a private enterprise to lend you money for your countries people, at interest, instead of printing it yourself. Sometimes, knowing that makes me just want to smack my head on the table in a vain attempt to have it make sense.
- sigg14, on 01/24/2008, -1/+6I think this was already pretty obvious by his "100 years" statement. you would have to be completely ignorant of economics if you think a bankrupt nation could fund 100 years of warfare. but I guess the people he cares about would still benefit from the war, the military industrial complex. he is just looking out for "his" people ***** the american citizens
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -1/+6I have your match right here.
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 01/23/2008, -7/+12This is what Presidents have advisers for....
- masterm1nd, on 01/23/2008, -1/+6Ok Mr. centrally planned economy...
- jwoodsutk, on 01/23/2008, -1/+6You think his lack of knowledge in the area of economics is the main problem? He's 71 years old, if he gets the republican bid, we need to seriously monitor who would be his vice president
- bowe, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4Make no mistake I'm not for Romney, however Romney is one of the founders of Bain Capital, so I'm pretty sure he understands at least a little bit about economics.
- VAXcat, on 01/23/2008, -3/+7 Oh? Does he look stupid, like President Eisenhower did, when he coined the term while warning us about what it would do to America? Or, maybe they aren't stupid, and you are?
- Humptydank, on 01/24/2008, -2/+6He lost the ability to raise his arms above his shoulders as a result of severe torture by the North Vietnamese. It was so continuous and severe that he at one point attempted suicide.
He did not block the efforts to bring other POWs home. Exactly the opposite.
His father was Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Command, and when the North Vietnamese discovered this they offered him early release as a propaganda move. He said he would only agree to be released if every man who went in before him was released as well.
That was after only six months of captivity. He spent another five years in captivity, subjecting himself to additional torture and two years of solitary confinement, as a result of his refusal to take advantage of his privilege and abandon his fellow soldiers.
McCain is substantively wrong on so many subjects that there's plenty of opportunity to oppose his campaign. But on a personal level, as a man, he is a genuine hero, at a level that neither you nor I will ever, I hope, understand. -
