Obama/Biden 3
McCain/Palin 0 - crazy4bass, on 10/08/2008, -48/+754Rude yes. Racial no.
- peace1970, on 10/08/2008, -46/+566THAT ONE as soon as he said it I was like WHAT?? It was horrible....
- skinny01, on 10/08/2008, -29/+455I just noticed when they were in the crowd and Obama went to shake his hand and McCain dodged it and redirected his wife to shake his hand instead.
- danman890, on 10/08/2008, -31/+361Something tells me McCain will be regretting THIS one... ;)
- brokenex, on 10/08/2008, -64/+380McCain might as well call him "boy"
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -16/+321At least McCain didnt call him a *****.
- glibpaxman, on 10/08/2008, -94/+382overt racism doesn't win friends anymore johnny. and the box of subvert racism is smaller and smaller.
- crookedreality, on 10/08/2008, -20/+238Obama clearly had control over all the issues mentioned in this debate. More than that, I feel, he was able to stay cool and composed in the face of attack. McCain, on the other hand, showed how erratic and uncouth he could get when the pressure was on.
"That one," he said. As if he could talk like that to the rest of our world leaders and representatives if he got elected.
Truly revolting. - jgconnolly, on 10/08/2008, -29/+245Playground rhetoric at it's best - the McCain camp is getting really desperate
- somegeologist, on 10/08/2008, -7/+201McCain was like a comedian trying to tell jokes at a funeral.
- MoeWasHere, on 10/08/2008, -55/+232The racial undertones are starting to show.
The republicans are walking a fine line with this smear campaign. I think it wont be hard to push them off the racial cliff.
All we need is Dave Chappelle in his black KKK clansmen character to crash a McCain/Palin rally and start yelling n-words and white power to just put the connection over the top. - roxgod666, on 10/08/2008, -6/+161You know what's even worse? He mentioned "goodies" and referred to everyone else as "friends" at least 5 times in that speech. Not only does he think Obama is stupid, he thinks everyone but him is stupid and treats the audience like preschoolers.
- alvarezx00, on 10/08/2008, -13/+166"That One" is going to be the next president of the United States.
nuff said - AnitraWeb, on 10/08/2008, -15/+143The debate wasn't even over before this moment was up on YouTube, circulating the blogosphere, reported in Huffington Post, and dugg. It is shaping up to be the most-talked-about moment of the night.
This is pitiful. They had 90 minutes to answer the questions of the American people and the most memorable words of the night were "That one"? - jdarkling, on 10/08/2008, -15/+135The "That One" comment surprised me... I thought, "Did he really refer to a fellow Senator who is running to be President of the United States as 'That One'??" That was so rude and frankly it sounded racist. Maybe McCain only intended to be demeaning in a colorblind way, but many people will not see it that way.
I hope people will not just remember John McCain's rude way of addressing Obama, because the Senator from Illinois did an excellent job of speaking to the undecided voters and to all Americans about what he will do to get the country on the right track. And he clearly explained how John McCain is out of touch, untruthful, and a continuation of the Bush policies of rich first, everyone else last. - Danby123, on 10/08/2008, -5/+122Quick Vote

CNN Poll. - UberNick, on 10/08/2008, -2/+111Damn that "my friends" drinking game. I am so ***** up right now
- thirty3down, on 10/08/2008, -29/+126I think that it was an accident.....but I tell you what..... it was interesting
- sharpfork, on 10/08/2008, -20/+111McCain is going to lose. He needed a game changer and he fell flat.
- moredown, on 10/08/2008, -13/+103i think people jump to racism because its a hot issue but he's just OLD, he talks weird and it comes off wrong. I doubt McCain would actually poke at racial differences between the two.
That being said... i don't support McCain, just think people pull the race card wayyyyy to quickly - TigerStar337, on 10/08/2008, -1/+89That One/Biden '08
http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1104/thatonesk9 ... - statuescrumble, on 10/08/2008, -15/+97How the hell is calling Obama "that one" racist?
Its not like he said "his lot" or something - dBass, on 10/08/2008, -6/+86In a few more short months, McCain can address Sen. Obama as either Mr. President, or President Obama.
McCain you douche bag. - LuckySephid, on 10/08/2008, -8/+88Maybe he meant he is 'The One'.... Nah
- spookycheddar, on 10/08/2008, -9/+85Thank you for digging this comment up. People are starting to lose their minds the closer this election comes, I swear. McCain may have been trying to be funny, he may have just been being rude, but how in the world is that a racially insensitive remark?
- nihilville, on 10/08/2008, -6/+78Nobody's carried away, and everybody's showing up to vote.
Hell, I'm heading out to Reno next weekend to go door to door, even though Nevada looks to have tipped blue!
We gotta keep playing this like we're 1 point behind, and as long as there's one person left in this country who's misguided enough to vote for McCain, we gotta keep working! - blsrx10, on 10/08/2008, -4/+75Who won the debate? "That one"
- From the comments on the post - classic! - hitemup054, on 10/08/2008, -9/+79i agree that the GOP voters will come out and vote in the end. Polls don't mean *****, all the racists in America will come out and vote on nov 4th. I hope the youth voters counter that though
- AmericanElitist, on 10/08/2008, -6/+75Can you imagine this jerk interacting with world leaders as our President?
- powermonay, on 10/08/2008, -11/+77"It speaks volumes about how McCain feels personally about Obama. Whomever said the town hall format helps McCain is dead wrong."
- mywhitenoise, on 10/08/2008, -3/+66"Fox is a little right, but is pretty balanced."
You've got to be kidding me. - waffle25, on 10/08/2008, -30/+93wow
- readacook, on 10/08/2008, -6/+66Are you kidding me? Take a look at the ground games and tell me who is getting demoralized (ie less likely to show up). The only thing keeping the base in the game was Palin, and after her monumental trainwreck of an interview with Couric, a lot of that enthusiasm is gone.
As for your history, the races in 84 and 88 were blowouts, and 2000 and 04 were both extremely tight, with Bush having a fairly consistent lead in October 04.
That's the funny thing about a lot of Obama supporters, we're actually fairly informed on history and politics, so those lies that pass with the Republican base don't get past our bs meter. - screamxsquad, on 10/08/2008, -11/+70Probably not intentional, but I'm sure McCain'll feel the repercussions.
- airwalke, on 10/08/2008, -2/+59Kerry/Edwards - 4
Bush/Cheney - 0
Don't get lazy on us, Dems. - DangerCollie, on 10/08/2008, -5/+62I'm not sure it was intended to be racist, but it was most definitely condescending and tactless. Don't get me wrong, the Republican campaign machinery is certainly comfortable scaring people with racial issues. I still don't believe John McCain is overtly racist, but look at the world he lives in. The only minorities he comes in regular contact with are serving his meals and mowing his lawn. Everyone in his world is white, wealthy and right wing. I don't believe he's racist, I just don't think the world looks all that diverse to him.
- dillwad, on 10/08/2008, -4/+58I couldn't believe it; I thought I didn't see it. What a scum-ball McCain is!!!
- CandidateZero, on 10/08/2008, -6/+60No, it's called the Cable News Network. That one painkiller addict came up with what you're calling it.
- geoboy, on 10/08/2008, -5/+56Honestly, I thought his "You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this economic crisis" assumption was more appalling.
I don't think people would be so up in arms if McCain had said "this guy" instead of "that one". People are just looking to pull out the race card at any opportunity they can. - izolutionz, on 10/08/2008, -7/+57The gaffe we've been waiting for... an (unconscious) acknowledgment of McCain's condescending attitude toward Obama. Pathetic.
MSM... ride it, baby! - KnightWhoSaysNi, on 10/08/2008, -1/+50Yes, I was thinking to myself:
"I'm not your friend, buddy." - inactive, on 10/08/2008, -11/+60"That one" will be remembered as the final straw in this election. How condescending is this man willing to get? If this man is willing to destroy his integrity to win an election, what will he do with the country?
McCain not shaking Obama's hand and getting his wife to? This is one old, angry mother *****.
How can anyone with an IQ over 80 support this joke of a candidate?
Seriously. - inactive, on 10/08/2008, -10/+57I think the most laughable moment was when McCain said: "What I don't know is what the unexpected will be." That is like sooo deep, maan.
But otherwise another pretty even debate. I think McCain needed a game-changer but it didn't happen. - BootsyGraham, on 10/08/2008, -5/+50I'm not your ***** friend McCain.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -8/+48most informed, thinking people are.i mean come on McCain picked a secessionist as VP.his first executive decision. a secessionist ?

^ The "Handshake" - homercles337, on 10/08/2008, -3/+42I also hate how he harps on the surge(tm) as a success. The troop surge had the least influential effect in the decrease in violence. Not to mention that it didnt even meet any of its stated goals. Why doesnt Obama slam him on this?
