- NavyCS, on 08/22/2008, -1/+6Title 10 of the US Code nor Admiral Mullen's letter (It even states the letter was to "uniformed Soldiers") would apply to either candidate (or any civilian for that matter) when it describes how a military member cannot campaign or even express their world view in public WHILE IN UNIFORM. BTW, "floating names" from generals and admirals for VP or even implying certain admirals and generals have a certain political stance is not new.
- ImperialRome, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Nominating a General for veep is not "politicizing" the military. That alone deserves bury/inaccurate status.
Politicizing the military would be screening out Generals and line officers for promotion due to their political affiliations, and selecting force commanders for assignments based on their political reliability.
Politicizing the military would also be "encouraging" those under your command to vote for a Party of a particular candidate.
If you cant get your definitions right and you have no perspective, then you must belong to ThinkProgress (UnthinkPropaganda). - Ridgeliner7, on 08/22/2008, -2/+3Of course the "article" is 100% inaccurate. Here is what is said:
"People close to the campaign also floated a wild-card choice, Gen. David H. Petraeus, the top American commander in Iraq. They said it was not beyond the realm of possibility that Mr. McCain would ask him to join the ticket,"
So it was some reporter, saying that someone close to the campaign, said that. Unattributed, faceless, nameless, and repeated here, so it is really like a 4th party rumor.
This needs to be buried as "Inaccurate". - ScienceDoc, on 08/23/2008, -1/+1McSame is a neocon tool that would do anything to get elected.
- Steinr, on 08/22/2008, -6/+6This is getting scarier and scarier by the day. Guys and girls VOTE OBAMA whatever you do! The world can not afford to let this guy become president of the US. I wish I could vote, I just have to be content with signing online petitions and doing everything to spread how evil McCain is.
