- suz123nj, on 09/05/2008, -21/+417What would you expect from a Party who thinks that Rudy Giuliani is the sanctified hero of Sept. 11 . Good taste is never part of "fear mongering.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -22/+380POW, POW, POW
9/11, 9/11, 9/11 - toetagger, on 09/05/2008, -16/+357Lets see video of the 4,000+ US soldiers this administration has killed in the wrong war. Lets see video of the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, woman, and children this administration has killed in this illegal, immoral war.
- seltaeb4, on 09/05/2008, -23/+204Great. Really appropriate to show what amounts to a snuff film to try and win votes.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -15/+167VOTE with your FEAR, America!
Go Republicans!
Use those deaths, like you did when you got us into this ***** war! - AndrewDB, on 09/05/2008, -22/+168If anything, the footage of 9/11 solidified my vote for Obama. The Bush / Cheney regime's handling of 9/11 and it's aftermath have made me have an utterly strong distaste for republicans and everything they stand for. I can only hope that other people will realize that the Republican machine in the white house had advance warning of an attack coming, but they continued to ignore it. This kind of ***** cannot be tolerated.
- StripeyMagee, on 09/05/2008, -21/+152Their scare tactics will backfire this time.
- muckemuck, on 09/05/2008, -5/+114hey.. they chanted "USA, USA, USA" to silence an Iraq War veteran who was trying to point out that McCain votes against veterans..
- belcorriko, on 09/05/2008, -19/+123Disgusting of them to use those images in a ploy to get people to support them. Disgraceful. Enough of this.
- iSkylla, on 09/05/2008, -6/+86I can usually let stuff like this go, but this comment is truly offensive.
- pintomp3, on 09/05/2008, -10/+89bush ignores the memo "bin laden determined to attack US soil", allows the attack to happen, and then claims to have kept the country safe?
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -13/+82All it did was make me realize how much they f--ed up in the weeks and months afterwards. A better president would have mobilized the population, (Like FDR did in WWII) We would have had four years of working in factories and laboratories... in less than 4 years we all would have had solar panels on our roofs, and driving cars powered by cellulosic ethanol...
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -5/+73You're an idiot.
- AndrewDB, on 09/05/2008, -2/+59To quote John Stewart "So your party is the only thing that can save us from the mess that your party got us into?"
- belcorriko, on 09/05/2008, -2/+59Lets not forget 9/11, 9/11, September 11th, 9/11, 9-1-1, 9/11, and 9/11 too... otherwise you might forget that we are talking about 9/11... Oh yeah and he's a POW, incase you forgot that too!
- junkwheel, on 09/05/2008, -10/+63Remember folks, even if Obama has royally pissed you off with a couple of decisions, even if you're a Ron Paul supporter: A vote for Obama is a vote directly against McCain which will make a difference. Unfortunately writing in Ron Paul is not a vote directly against McCain and won't make any difference.
You know you don't want McCain in the White House. - lorensingley, on 09/05/2008, -20/+72PSST! McCain, Pailn... You have about a snowball's chance in hell of winning the presidency.
- scabbers, on 09/05/2008, -2/+49That sums them up perfectly. It's pure 1984.
- byronm, on 09/05/2008, -1/+46Really? Where are they showing them? I was at a democracy for America meetup and we discussed Unity. I was at the Obama campaign stop in Lancaster and he talked about a vision for America. I watched every hour speech of the DNC and not once were their any visuals of death, destruction, war and hate used to "Rally the people".
What fantasy land do you live on? - lamejoketeller, on 09/05/2008, -3/+45God damn, I don't know how you wake up in the morning if you think half of the country is like that. I'm sorry for you.
- Splicernyc, on 09/05/2008, -3/+43The GOP under the tutelage of the Neocons have turned death, destruction and war into a form of pornography. Terri Schiavo was bad enough but this is on a whole other level. As a life long New Yorker who knew people who died or were nearly killed on that day, I prefer not to have my trauma turned into a snuff film for people who can barely get it up any more.
- crazyjake, on 09/05/2008, -0/+39something something something DARKSIDE... something something something COMPLETE.
i think the republicans have found their formula, now. - ElectricC0wb0y, on 09/05/2008, -5/+43Al Queda won the war the day that our freedoms were taken away!!! Vote liberty in 2008!
- Zippo, on 09/05/2008, -5/+42Nothing's classier than good ol' fear-mongering.
- MrTarot, on 09/05/2008, -0/+35You know it's really sad when negotiating/diplomacy is the evil process, and engaging in unjustified, open warfare is considered the appropriate action to take. It may be just me, but I have a hard time justifying pro-actively killing people because I think they *might* be hostile.
- TigerStar337, on 09/05/2008, -17/+50The westerners like to live in fear. You most fear the terrorist, fear the Russians, fear the Libs. Do forget about the Iranians! Everyone is out to get you. Oh, well. I am going to enjoy my life. Do not worry, be happy!
God Bless America and God Bless Barack Obama! - Dumbledorito, on 09/05/2008, -2/+349-11 mattered, indeed. It mattered even more when those in power used it to go berserk, blowing our treasure and military by invading a country that had nothing to do with the attacks. Further, it became an excuse to degrade privacy protections, it allowed them to screw up government services even more by creating "Homeland Security" and shoe-horning everthing down to dog-catcher under its umbrella (in the name of smaller government, mind you, which is another Republican fairy tale).
There's more, but you won't read it and I don't have all day to spell it out for you. If you'd paid attention over the past 6 years, it wouldn't be neccessary. - oldhick, on 09/05/2008, -12/+43Just an FYI, 9/11 isn't a ploy by the Repubs to win votes. It is pretty much the pillar of their campaign. At the end of the day, McCain's big thing is that he's tough on terrorists who are trying to kill us and he, and only he, can save you from the terrorists!
- Ganpachi, on 09/05/2008, -4/+35Did someone mention ISLAMIC TERRORISM?!?!?!?!
::sigh:: - david76, on 09/05/2008, -4/+34Here's the actual footage they showed at the convention:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDx80bnFrVs - cedarbaydave, on 09/05/2008, -2/+30Giuliani has become a bit of a Dick Tracy villain look alike hasn't he, or maybe just a character of himself.
- calipan, on 09/05/2008, -0/+28Mushroom Mushroom
- dragnonfly310, on 09/05/2008, -5/+33Anyone catch the hypocrisy here: Isn't it the Republicans that want to dictate what we can and cannot watch on TV or the internet? And, here are these guys splashing death in all its graphic morbidity on public TV?
- AnakSeria, on 09/05/2008, -6/+33It's back to the dirty playbook tactics of Rovian politics.
Let's scare the crap out of people, to drive away all ability to reason, so that they will vote for us.
Are we going to allow this to happen again??
Haven't we already been fooled twice, this last 8 years? - sobe11, on 09/05/2008, -3/+30My mother Sonia Morales Puopolo was murdered on one of those planes. Seeing the video footage of her brutal murder being exploitated in a political ad is vile for any reason. Especially this time of year. I am shocked to hear McCain's ( who I did respect his service to our country) people would intentionally inflict harm upon people by using that horrible footage is outrageous. Tomorrow myself and my fellow 9/11 families are attending the unveiling of the official the 9/11 Logan Airport Memorial (the place my mother walked her last steps as a free American alive) to attend a ceremony with a public viewing next Tuesday. This time of year is already painful to deal with, as intrusive memories come haunting back and my fellow 9/11 members prepare for our collective 9/11 Memorial services. I also worked overseas insuring one of the 9/11 co-conspirator terrorists from the Hamburg, Gemany cell named Motassadeq was found guilty by working with the German government (2004-2007) and the terrorist is now in jail, in only the second public terrorist trial to date since 9/11 so I can assure you I am NOT overly sensitive. I can resolutely tell you the use of the imagery of the planes being flown into the towers is wrong, and is an exploitation of me and my fellow 9/11 families members personal loss by any politician, and it is a digusting and vile act. Worse it is proven to be hurtful for family members of those who lost loved ones, especially the CHILDREN to see those images, of the planes which left Boston and were flown into the WTC 1 & 2. Thank you for understanding - D. Puopolo, Jr. 9/11 family member
- Estoye, on 09/05/2008, -1/+28See, the War on Terror IS the abyss.
- FasterGun, on 09/05/2008, -1/+27(Citation Needed)
- unitedkronos, on 09/05/2008, -2/+27What a way to pull at peoples strings, no British politician would ever use 7/7 footage in their campaign videos.
- kaiquan, on 09/05/2008, -4/+29This is DISGUSTING! I appeal to all Americans: Vote with a clear mind and think of what's best for the country and the world. YOUR votes WILL change the world. Do you want more of the same thing the past 8 years have seen? Or would you like to see a change in the politics and policies that come out of Washington? In terms of environmental concerns, security, economy, and foreign policy especially in Iraq and Russia, are you willing to continue down the same slippery slope or are willing to see a change in attitudes perhaps for the better?
- LeeFH, on 09/05/2008, -1/+26now requesting "digg up twice" feature.
- Dumbledorito, on 09/05/2008, -4/+29I wished I could have punched Rudy in the face over the radio when I heard his speech.
No, Rudy, the Dems didn't mention Islamic terrorism, not because they didn't want to offend anyone, it's because the rest of the world is sick and tired of seeing it being used as a subsitute for actual policies and ideas.
Although thanks to Giuliani, I don't know if I mistrust mayors of small towns or large cities more; the republicans have made them have the potential for equal amounts of contempt. - supermom2005, on 09/05/2008, -1/+25No one is trying to act like 9/11 ever happened. The point is that the Republicans forgot it happened on their watch. They also exploit it for political gain.
Bin Laden is sitll out there, meanwhile we've lost over 4000 American lives.
I lost friends in those buildings that day. I found this fear mongering offensive.
Oh and before my patriotism is attacked, my 19 yr old is in the Navy...on a sub as we speak.
Register to vote! - orion846, on 09/05/2008, -4/+28imagine if rudy had been the nominee
- Dumbledorito, on 09/05/2008, -1/+24Surrender? To whom? We've never had a clearly-defined "enemy" in this so-called "war," any more than we can "surrender" in the "war on drugs."
Further, terrorist attacks have increased globally since Bush's Bogus Journey, and Bush (not Obama) was the one who made Pakistan an "ally," even though Pakistan has been peddling nuclear materials/secrets to everyone from Lybia to North Korea for decades, and is now harboring the Taliban (until they can move back into Afghanistan, which Bush diverted resources from for his cocking-up of Iraq).
As for attacking my wallet, Bush funnels my tax dollars to corporations which are already profitable or downright scary (Blackwater, Halliburton) and gives tax breaks to those far wealthier than I'll ever be.
But keep up that old saw about how them durn ol' lib'rulls will somehow destroy the world through raising taxes while the Republicans continue to burn civilization to the ground while calling it "freedom" or something. - richbleak, on 09/05/2008, -0/+23No one asked you to care if anyone was offended. In fact, no one gives half a ***** about you. The only thing you provide is proof that abortion is the better choice in some cases. If only your mother had sat down and said, "OK, I've been raped by my brother and the child will most likely turn out to be a ***** retard. Do I save the world from the aggravation of dealing with an obnoxious tool or do I go ahead an unleash this pain in the ass? ***** it, Get the coat hanger mom!"
- mrn111, on 09/05/2008, -0/+22Or at least after 7 yrs, rebuild the damn buildings.
- yojiffyskippy, on 09/05/2008, -4/+26That's what they said about GW ...... BOTH times! Obama certainly has the lead and unless he does something stupid, he should have this election wrapped up. But to say McCain doesn't have a "snowball's chance" is just ignorant and Diggberally dangerous.
- mm3guy, on 09/05/2008, -0/+22I logged in just to Digg you down.
- AeonTorpor, on 09/05/2008, -0/+21Right in the kisser!
