- crookdimwit, on 10/11/2007, -21/+205Well, at least he's honest about it, which is more than I can say for most right-wingers...
- PATSCRU, on 10/11/2007, -11/+148woah...jesus....
i'm all for honesty, but this is quite out there....i'm glad they said it and made their dubious intentions known, but what does it say about the climate of this country when pundits can just come out and admit their racism and xenophobia without fear of repercussions? - flernk, on 10/11/2007, -6/+121Leave it to Bill himself to prove that his words weren't being taken out of context. Here's a direct quote from his radio show Tuesday night:
"On the other side, you have people who hate America, and they hate it because it's run primarily by white, Christian men. Let me repeat that. America is run primarily by white, Christian men, and there is a segment of our population who hates that, despises that power structure. So they, under the guise of being compassionate, want to flood the country with foreign nationals, unlimited, unlimited, to change the complexion -- pardon the pun -- of America."
I love this: "Let me repeat that." Yes, Bill, please repeat that. Repeat that as often as you like. - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -20/+122He's honest about his feelings about what's going on. But what he says about the NYT and the left trying to bring people in to undermine the "white, Christian power structure" is total crap. Globalist NAFTA Republicans are the main ones who want to bring in cheap labor to work for sub-minimum wages with no rights or benefits. That's McCain's point -- we should bring in people and use them when we need them, and otherwise, kick them out.
- EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -16/+93^^^ Who said anything about shutting him up? The answer to offensive speech is more, not less speech.
However, with that, I have to say that you're also full of *****. All Americans, except for Native Americans are immigrants. Most did not know how to read or write English when they came here from Europe. Many knew how to read and write other languages, but many didn't. What's made this country great is that they worked hard, made sacrifices, and raised children who worked hard, went to school, and built this country by hand.
Frankly, I'd take the hard-working kids of an illiterate, even illegal, immigrant over the lazy, apathetic, brand-worshiping wasteland that passes for some "pure" American kids any day. - shawnfassett, on 10/11/2007, -15/+76When conservatives open their mouths...burning crosses fall out.
- flernk, on 10/11/2007, -6/+62The actual quote:
"But do you understand what the New York Times wants, and the far-left want? They want to break down the white, Christian, male power structure, which you’re a part, and so am I, and they want to bring in millions of foreign nationals to basically break down the structure that we have."
Do tell, what context makes this quote less insane? - AzDraon, on 10/11/2007, -18/+74O'Reilly is a Christian? I thought he worshiped Satan.
No wait. Thats the Atheists, Jews, Muslims, Women, Gays, Bi-sexuals, Blacks, Mexicans, Asians, Handicapped, and all those other people that want to do harm to the only country in the world that god blessed. 1600 years after Jesus was born. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+49They plump when you cook 'em
- flernk, on 10/11/2007, -6/+42Loving your heritage (which I do) and even loving "western white people" (which I do) is a far cry from promoting a "white, Christian, male power structure" in America. That ideal is completely anti-democratic, entirely anti-republican, and totally contrary to the ideals outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
- stealthc, on 10/11/2007, -7/+40No, Bill, America is not run by white, Christian men. If you studied your Bible you would know that people are judged by the fruit they bear. If you look at the fruit borne by Congress, and especially by President Bush, America is not run by white Christian males. It is run instead by white, soulless cowards. And yes, you are part of that structure, Bill.
If you happen to buy the New World Order story, America is run by white Satanist males. Sounds more accurate to me. - JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -9/+37What a dick. (I find myself saying that a lot lately.)
- libertao, on 10/11/2007, -17/+42McCain did not say or agree to that part of what O'Reilly said.
Buried as inaccurate. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+28@thecobbs, going to answer their questions? Or are you going to be a typical neocon and throw out your soundbite and then go hide?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+28The context of white supremacy, or neocon agenda?
Which context is removed? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+30As much as I hate the white, christian, male power structure I do not think amnesty is a good thing for America. It will only benefit the rich, white, elite, corporations that want cheap labor.
- packfan42, on 10/11/2007, -12/+32It's alright if you're gay.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21What?
- saikhan, on 10/11/2007, -5/+24You take too much credit for something that you didn't have ***** to do with.
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22O'Reilly likes to preface his absurd statements with minor qualifications that he thinks will defend him from accusations of prejudice. He most likely said something like "I'm not promoting white supremacy..." before going on to do exactly that. Th at way he can complain when the lieberal media leaves the first part out.
- GumInMyHair, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20What's so great about white, chirstian males?
- bupublue, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Women aren't exactly minorities... according to the US Census Bureau, there are approximately 152 million females in the US versus 148 million males (data as of 2006). That makes us the majority.
- EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20@fatejudger, if someone says something that outrageous and racist to you and you say nothing and then go on to agree with him on related issues, it certainly leaves the impression that both people are in agreement.
McCain is perfectly able to say, "No, Bill, that's not how I feel about racism."
So while O'Reilly said it, McCain needs to disavow it. Not that it matters much. The GOP base is not exactly in McCain's corner on this whole amnesty thing.
Oh, and geekee, I answered your question. I'm happy to be proved wrong. But you always seem to pick the weakest arguments to throw at me, and then, when I answer your BS, you disappear. I may have to start ignoring you. - JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21Some constructive criticism:
The enter button is your friend. Multiple paragraphs make things easier to read.
You only need one period at the end of a sentence. (You can break this rule if you place three at the end of your last sentence to denote a trailing off or "etc" type of statement.)
Capitalizing the first letter of a sentence would also be a good idea.
Lay off the coffee.
I'm with you in spirit, but you're getting dugg down because you look crazy. - PhilLesh69, on 10/11/2007, -13/+29@flernk

Thanks for catching that!
Damn, isn't that a hate crime? I think that sort of rhetoric is in The Turner Diaries! So basically he's a white supremacist. I thought we didn't stand for that sort of ***** anymore. Fox needs to take Bill off the air immediately, even if he's been able to convert many mainstream nascar dads into becoming white power morons, it's damaging to society to have this sort of rabid hatred on the air. - fatejudger, on 10/11/2007, -5/+20McCain never said anything related to saving a white, Christian, male power structure; he was simply discussing immigration policy. The above comment was spoken only by Bill O'Reilly and he alone. Transference of guilt by association is a cheap, fallacious way of arguing against a candidate as anyone can build and take down a straw man.
- wreckosaurus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18One of the very few episodes of o'reilly I've ever seen started out with him proclaiming that the left wing media lies to you on a daily basis. He then went on to say that democrats want more mexicans in the country because mexicans are poor and the democrats want to tax you and give all your money to the poor, and the mexicans will all therefore vote democrat.
The scary part is that people actually believe that. - mishabear, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15Maybe if they didn't treat everyone with such disdain and disrespect, maybe they wouldn't be losing their "power".
- OUChevelleSS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Don't Catholic immigrants (the Mexicans) bring more Christianity into the country?
- Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -23/+35You say this now, but as a white man living in Toronto, once the first generation immigrants outnumber you, they stop being quite so cute. Most of them are here for money, nothing else, and anytime someone tries to call them on it they're shut out of public life completely by the voting power house they've become.
Now I know what alot of you are thinking... ***** racist whitey.. But for the sake of not having to come back and defend myself later, I'll explain my position. I like Canada, I like the political structure, I like the economy, I like the fact that I can travel 20 minutes outside Toronto and find all the wildlife I want. And I like people that like what I like. If you come to Canada because you love it, then hey I love you, and I want you as my neighbour.
But most people who come here come for the money. They want to get as rich as possible in X years so they can move back to their home country and retire. They'll overstay their visas, forge documents, or even hide in church basements. These are the people that want this ***** hole Toronto to grow and grow and grow until there is literally nothing left, just farms and cities. These are the people I hate, and these are the people that no one is allowed to criticize
I go deer hunting every year, and every year I have to drive out of Toronto, past wonderland, and see the thousands upon thousands upon thousands of the new houses that are being built in every direction possible. I'm so sick of it I actually cry when I think about how much worse it will be in 10 years, because at this point there's nothing to be done about it. - katanaswordfish, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15"It's not even worth pointing out the selective quotations and removal of context that has become a staple of thinkprogress."
Thats a ***** classic right-wring tactic. Say something outwardly bigoted, racist, sexist, xenophobic and jingoistic. And when someone quotes you, verbatim, you claim that it is taken out of context and some sort of 'liberal propaganda' or some *****.
I recall hearing the conservative radio show host Michael Savage comparing himself with Adolf Hitler, and then immediately after he tries to justify his ***** fascist rhetoric by claiming that the liberal media will try to twist his words into something disturbing. This is just a prefabricated excuse that allows them to be openly bigoted without having any repercussions. It's like an encryption that they can add to any ***** that they decide to spew out that immediately secures their prejudice opinions. And what do they do when people stand up to them and call them out? Do they give evidence to counter? Do they apologize? Do they lose their jobs? No, they cut the mic, label anyone who isn't afraid of the outside world a traitor, a terrorist, or an anti-American.
When that moron, Don Imus, said some bigoted bull crap on his little radio show, at least he lost his job, and was exposed like the idiot that he is.
So im just sick of this crap. Im sick of the neo-cons and the fake "news" corporations, and im sick of our society and culture that encourages bigotry. Im not just some partisan anti-GOP zealout either. I feel sick when i see all these so-called "liberal" kids walking around, drinking PBR, smoking marlboros, talkin' about how bob marley is a revolutionary cause he smoked pot... when they would sooner vote for f'ing american idol than the presidential election. Oh the menthol taste of 400 years of indian genocide, slavery, and corporate-funded congressional lobbiests, goes down smooth...
bunch of ***** ups on both sides of the spectrum if you ask me... - ZWarren69, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Yep, probably why they had 90,000 people falsely put on to the convicted felons list in FL and caged all the black voters in 2004.
- Shmoo, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16@battleloser
battleloser is nothing more than a bigot. To say that every immigrant who comes to Toronto is only coming for the money and will leave as soon as they get it, is just wrong. As a white male in Toronto, I know many, many families who have come to settle down in this city and raise children, working hard so their kids have an easier life than they did.
Furthermore, don't blame the immigrants for the urban sprawl. We need immigrants to even sustain our population considering how low our birth rate is. Sprawl is due to poor planning policies and developers with deep pockets - wreckosaurus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13"it's not even worth pointing out" = "I really have no way to respond to this, but that won't stop me from acting like an arrogant douchebag"
- reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13That's what the conservatives want...preserve the status quo, don't let the minorities (black, hispanic, women) take up positions of power.

- shadus, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13You know, legal immigration isn't as big of an issue as illegal immigration. We need to boot the aliens... first and foremost, all of them. Then we can deal with raising or lowering immigration amounts. Until the people who SHOULDN'T be here are removed though... it doesn't make a bit of difference.

Ok I am one of the people you are so pissed off about. Parents moved here in 75 and I have only been back ones to the place I was born in 1999 for two weeks so that is 32 years in Canada and 8 years in place I was born.
I worked in California for a short while and came back even though I made hell of lot more $ there but felt more Canadian than American. While my WASP friend felt fine there and stayed.
I pay lot higher taxes then the average person and my brother and sister pays even more than I do because I am actually the poorest person in family so we are paying for lot of the services that your trailer park enjoys.( remember when you got you sister pregnant and the OHIP paid for the abortion…actually it was us)
My dept has Romanians, Indian, Chinese, Slovakian, Russian, Greek and most of them came on the point system because they had the skill set Canada needed. If we all left you would just be out sourcing the jobs to India, China and Eastern Europe and we would not have to pay taxes to Canada or pour our income into the Toronto economy. Those are your two options since people like you are just too stupid to do complex jobs or can’t work hard enough to get degrees in math/science/engineering.
The newest converts to religion or country are usually the most passionate in my experience but I think you have other issues. - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15@geekee, "Where did he say anything about kicking out people? McCain is talking about economic reality, i.e. if there is a labor shortage invite more people who want to work here, if not invite less people. You are talking out of your ass, as usual. Look up strawman."
What the hell do you think a "temporary guest worker program" is?
It's an invitation for Mexicans (mainly) to come here and work without full employee benefits or the RIGHT TO REMAIN. And, when they're done working, they go back home.
What part of that don't you understand? - alvim, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11@Achalemoipas:
The simple fact that you state that you are superior and have NOTHING to learn from other countries is proof enough that this is not true. - g30ff, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13@battleloser
Thank you for explaining yourself properly and not being a '***** racist whitey'. That said, I don't feel you've been entirely fair to Canada's immigrant communities. It is hard to know exactly what you meant when you said they stop being 'quite so cute' . It is a bit vague but it certainly implies that you they're a pain in ass.
Yes, many immigrants are here for economic reasons, but the reason we accept them is for economic reasons of our own. The individuals that come here often bring us skills that are in demand (like doctors) and a solid work ethic (even if they end up working as cab drivers). They contribute to our culture, whether it is music, film, cuisine, sports, etc. I like poutine and tourtiere as much as the next guy but, frankly, thank god for Indian people for saving WASPs like me from having to eat WASP food for the rest of our lives.
Even when these immigrants don't end up seeking citizenship themselves, their children often end up with Canadian citizenship. This doesn't stop them from identifying with their parent's country of origin but that doesn't make them feel (or act) any less Canadian. So what that there are a few that overstay their visas and stay illegally, I can hardly blame them--we do have it pretty good over here--but these people are hardly a majority of our immigrant population and they don't have much political clout since they can't vote and they aren't exactly rich.
Shame on you for trying to blame the suburban sprawl taking over southern Ontario on our immigrants. If you want to point the finger of blame at someone, how about the (mostly white) governments that allow it to happen, the (mostly white) developers build on the land, the (mostly white) bankers that finance the development, and the (mostly white) shareholders of the banks and property developers who don't give a ***** what the corporations do as long as they're making money on their investments. When it comes to this sort of stuff it should be obvious that we're our own worst enemy. - bupublue, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11gigaquack,
