- devtandon, on 09/15/2008, -27/+253MCCAIN IS A LIAR! He irreparably dishonors his own service of 22 years.
- mofolotopo, on 09/15/2008, -18/+159Can we add a second counter for every one of McCain's "deeply held moral beliefs" that he's given up in the past decade? Let's start with his stances on abortion, torture, and lobbyist influence in Washington and just work our way up from there.
- joenothin, on 09/15/2008, -15/+102I used to have a lot of respect for John McCain. However, I can't stomach the lies he and his campaign are shoving down our throats.
- auberdan, on 09/15/2008, -16/+89Does anybody know of a McCain lie-tracker widget or application that can be added to Facebook? It would be nice if this updated regularly. It seems like the counter should record not just each lie, but each time they deliver the lie, because that's kind of the best part of this situation they've gotten themselves into. It sort of adds to the general surreal feeling of their campaign. They're like little kids who got trapped in a make-believe story, and they just don't know what to do but keep repeating themselves or risk having their world punctured by reality. The only way out is for some campaign 'handler' figures out a way out. It would be great to add this as a Facebook application. Like since Palin told her 'bridge to nowhere' story 9 times the counter should record it as 9 lies. Even though it's the same lie over and over, if it's repeated 9 times I think it definitely should count as 9 lies.
- tabularassa, on 09/16/2008, -11/+56To be flagged as inaccurate by the McSame brigade in 3.. 2...
Which by the way, I think Digg should allow refuting claims about the inaccuracy of a submission. There is an imbalance if it only takes a few users to declare something as inaccurate even if the vast majority considers it accurate. - MechanicalZack, on 09/16/2008, -5/+39The McCake is a lie!
- stock, on 09/16/2008, -3/+36It's sad that you actually believe that.
- steveeyes, on 09/15/2008, -10/+43It isn't just the lies, but the low blows. I may be cynical, but you almost expect politicians to stretch the truth somewhat, but most don't use disgust as a communication tool unless they have something to hide. Diversion in politics has been going on, well, forever -- but our memories surely can't be that short remembering that Bush distorted the truth to get us into a war that had thousands killed. I'm starting to wonder if distortion is not the whole Republican platform -- the Karl Rove (sp?) doctrine.
- bogshrink, on 09/15/2008, -14/+44I'm glad someone is doing the counting. It would be a dream to think Fair and Balanced Fox would do it since their loyalists need to see the truth through the haze of bias that clouds their thinking. Democrats keep saying it takes a minute to find the truth on Google. Now that isn't true! It generally takes 10-15 seconds on a fast computer.
We've got to think of more ways to get to the independents and undecideds. This will give writers like me more information. I preach to the choir on Capitol Hill Blue, a small political website, where a column like my latest, "With apologies to our porcine friends, the lipstick is off the Palin pig" ( at http://www.capitolhillblue.com/cont/node/11259 ) typically has about 3,000 readers who mostly agree with me.
This website will give everyone hard facts to counter water cooler arguments about which candidates are really change agents. - McBrewster, on 09/15/2008, -12/+35I think they're going to need to add another digit to their counter!
That thing is gonna be spinning like the population clock in Times Square! - digitalmedea, on 09/15/2008, -10/+33How about a counter for every repetition of these lies (a running count of McCain's claim that Palin never took earmarks as governor, or a running count of repetitions of the 'bridge to Nowhere' lie). Or are there too many to count?
- inactive, on 09/15/2008, -7/+29I hope the code behind the counter can handle 'OutOfBounds" and "Overflow" exceptions properly.
- inactive, on 09/16/2008, -1/+23Proof. show proof that any of what you're saying has merit. solid evidence right now. enough of making unsubstantiated claims.
- flameboy, on 09/16/2008, -1/+23STFU retard.
YouTube - John McCain: "I graduated fifth from the bottom of my class"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srbX26vp57c
What about the fact that over 100 former lobbyists work for the McCain campaign? What about the fact that McCain makes up LIES about Obama wanting to give sex ed to kindergartners?
What qualifies John McCain? The fact that he was a POW 30 years ago? What about the fact that McCain voted alongside Bush 100% of the time in 2008, and 95% of the time in the last 8 years, and 90% of the time over his entire career. "Maverick"?
Obama will lower taxes for 95% of all Americans. If you think that's socialist, you are a dumbass. Maybe you should be asking yourself why the disparity between the rich and poor is growing at such an alarming rate. Why is the middle class disappearing? - cherwilco, on 09/16/2008, -1/+21its easy for you to just blurt out random crap without backing ANYTHING up isn't it?
citation needed (obviously). and I wanna see where he supports killing off infants by the millions (you DID say infanticide) - phike, on 09/16/2008, -0/+20You ask questions without caring enough to look them up for yourself.
Q: Is it a fact that Obama has deliberately obscured his background?
A: No, it is most likely a fact that he didn't deliberately obscure his background.
Q: Why won't he let the press look at his grades from Columbia? Where are his writings while president of Harvard Law Review?
A: For the same reason I don't want the press looking at my grades from college (even though they were quite good). Unless he graduated in worse standing than McCain (nearly impossible), it is the principle of privacy. His writings from the Harvard Law Review are most likely insignificant and would have surfaced if he wrote some extremist beliefs.
Q: What about his connections with the Chicago political machine?
A: One of the most idiotic questions I have ever heard in my life. What about McCain's connections with the Arizona state political machine? Bush and Texas? Giuliuani and New York? Palin and Alaska? Nearly all governments have a shade of corruption.
Q: Why is it that all of his close associates hold opinions and beliefs that give us pause?
A: If by "all of his close associates" you mean "two of his acquaintances", you got me there. What about John Hagee and John McCain? Everyone knows ***** up people.
Q: Just how did Obama get into Harvard with his less than stellar grades and LSAT scores? How did he get to be president of the Law Review without any published articles or top academic credentials while at Harvard?
A: Affirmative Action; he got in by legacy of his slave ancestors the same way McCain got into his institution through legacy of his father.
Q: Specifically, what will his tax increases do other than take money from those that earn it and give it to those who don't? (I think that is Marxist ideology!)
A: He is merely taking us back to a Bill Clinton tax system. Calling any tax increase on the wealthy a "Marxist ideology" is ignorant.
Q: Just what exactly qualifies him to be our leader when he hasn't yet managed a business, or even been the head of a smaller government municipality?
A: Leaders are not only born in the executive branches of all governments; they can also born from legislature. A leader motivates and sells a vision, and he has successfully done that so far to millions of people in his presidential campaign. The definition of leadership varies, so the right answer to your question is in the eye of the beholder.
Other than your last question, you failed to use common sense or public knowledge. Thank you for wasting peoples' time. - ironhide, on 09/16/2008, -10/+29No one is stopping you from making one. Just be sure to put in the correct references so we can tear them apart :)
- scruffles, on 09/16/2008, -0/+19Wow. That link is a completely unreliable source of information.
Try this one: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/obama_and_ ... - cherwilco, on 09/16/2008, -0/+18yeah duopy3 lets see yer proof to back up that train of crap you got there. how exactly is any of this information hidden? something like this link on mccain's bull would be really helpful to back you up..go ahead ill wait
- flameboy, on 09/16/2008, -0/+17From your ***** article: "Though Obama claims the US presence is "illegal," he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate."
Oh, really? Seem to be forgetting all that talk about "unilateral military action" when UN refused to help us? Forgetting why Colin Powell resigned?
The Iraq war IS illegal. Bush lied to start it, this has been well documented. Why don't you try doing some research. - stock, on 09/16/2008, -1/+18I think everyone that flags something as inaccurate should have to reply proof that it is inaccurate. And then a moderator should review all claims.
- stormkrow, on 09/16/2008, -0/+17I'll keep posting up my previous comments until "Republicans" start owning up to reality.
I've said it before and I'll say it again there are NO republicans in the republican party and a vote or support for McCain/Palin is tantamount to accepting everything over the last 8 years. In my mind if you support this party that means you have to OWN everything that goes along with it you don't get to pick and choose if you whole heartedly support the GOP then you OWN all of it's failings too and that diggers is the cold hard reality of it all and I'm sorry to say it but it makes you a hypocrite of the highest magnitude.
Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, Katrina, FISA, the Patriot Act, Stevens, DeLay, Abramoff, Enron, Worldcomm, 9-11, Gonzalez, Rove, CEO bail outs, Plamegate, loss of Habeus Corpus, Shredding of the Constitution, $4 gas, Voter caging in Ohio and Florida, racism against illegal immigrants, LGBT hate crimes, "Mission Accomplished", 1 Million+ Iraqi civilian causalities, 1 Million+ Casualties and refugees in Sudan/Darfur, 10,000 fold increase in heroin production, the worst "Dollar" in American history, 6.1% unemployment (conservative), tent cities, 40 Million+ uninsured, Walter Reed, Drill our way out, from the most respected to the most hated citizens on Earth, Coalition of the Billing, multi-billion dollar profits for Big Oil, mulit-billion dollar contracts for Halliburton, the most secretive gvt in modern history, commuting of sentences for convicted traitors, Supreme court standing by big business, Gulf War Syndrome vets class action lawsuit quashed, Abstinence Only education, public schools failing our children, bridges collapsing in Minnesota, our highway and infrastructure in complete disarray, the fight for Net Neutrality, 8,000 dead Americans, ........
OWN IT GOP Supporters. OWN IT. Lock, Stock and Barrel.
When you post up your support of McCain/Palin then you by default agree with and standby the short list noted above. NO you don't get to pick and choose, this is YOUR party, OWN IT. Yes a vote for McCain/Palin IS a full throated endorsement of the Bush Administration. PERIOD. End of discussion. The Republican party didn't change and to think that it did is a level of naivety that should only be displayed by toddlers. Once you decide to actually OWN your party and all of it's failings THEN you can digg me down.
VOTE!!! - inactive, on 09/16/2008, -4/+20Uh oh, countdown until this article is marked as inaccurate!!!
- cherwilco, on 09/16/2008, -1/+17try again duopy3 next time use a CREDIBLE source
now I know credible is a big word so here ya go
Credibility is the objective and subjective components of the believability of a source or message. Traditionally, credibility is composed of two primary dimensions: trustworthiness and expertise, which have both objective and subjective components. - damendred, on 09/16/2008, -0/+16Why are you saying Marxism like its a bad thing, comrade?
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/16/2008, -1/+17Actually, Marxist ideology has to do with class struggle not federal tax structure in a democratic nation. Marx essentially said the rich exist to become richer on the backs of poor. Obama says the people at the bottom are struggling to eat (see, that's called "need." They need a break so they can pay their heat this winter without starving), and giving some money back to the majority will do a lot more for the economy than cutting the rich minority even bigger tax breaks. Then again, if you actually knew anything about Marx you'd realize Marx was right about a lot of things. How other people took his ideas and twisted them to suit their needs is another discussion, but just know how ignorant you look every time you mention Marx with regard to Obama's tax plan.
- teamgwho, on 09/16/2008, -4/+20What I love is this site uses only articles published by major newspapers, magazines, news networks and independant fact checking sites like factcheck.org. So none of the whiners can complain that it's liberal biased crap from huffpost or dailykos.
The sad thing for me is I recall John Kerry saying around this time 4 years ago "If we can't beat these guys with their track record..." and we know what happened. So far no one seems to be paying attention to all of McCain/Palins lies, flipflops and smears. I am amazed that anyone actually thinks Palin is a smart choice or is qualified in anyway. I await the VP debates where she will get her bell rung hard by Biden. - cherwilco, on 09/16/2008, -0/+15wow if you think keeping the peace or at least attempting to is lying then WTF are you on? just because you put the word lie in your sentence does not mean you can chalk up some random link with Obama's name in it as an Obama lie.
NO....BAD duopy! - PeteZaHutt, on 09/15/2008, -9/+24Pants on fire.
- duckley, on 09/16/2008, -0/+15McCain is Citizen Kane.
Hasn’t this movie been done already?
Oh, yes.
It’s about a man who sells his soul to (Karl Rovians) devils, who reverses every honorable position he ever held, in pursuit of higher public office.
Even the darling girl he rescues from obscurity ends up hating him.
And, in the end, he dies alone, hated.
“Rosebud” he whispers. - houndeyex, on 09/16/2008, -9/+22Do I want the guy with less than stellar LSAT scores, or the ex-military war profiteer?
Choices, choices... - MMaurin, on 09/16/2008, -4/+16McCain's "Forked-tongue Express" is lying down the Interstate with Sarah "Thanks, but no thanks" Palin riding shotgun. I'm going to have to take off my "Bush lied" bumper sticker and put on the new one: "Bush III lied".
- brenden67, on 09/16/2008, -1/+12And Palin's experience is? Oh wait, her state is closest to Russia. And she was a Mayor of one of the country's largest cities, right? And Alaska is one of the most populous states, right? And University of Idaho ranks right up there with Harvard, right? And changing colleges a bunch of times is a great way to get a good education, right? And McCain who voted with Bush 90% of the time is a best choice to change things, right? And McCain has experience running 2, no, 5, no 7, I think homes, right? Didn't McCain himself say the economy is fine even while the dow dropped over 500 points? But he did say that economics was not something he knew much about which is ok for someone who wants to lead our country, right?
It is unbelievable to me how some people blindly follow some people.
Bottom line is if you think things are ok now and have been ok for the past 8 years, then McCain may be a good choice. If you think maybe a different tack is in order, then maybe Obama is a good choice.
Also, consider that McCain is not in the best health. There is a very good chance that if elected, we will end up with Sarah Palin as our President. So for those who think Obama's experience is a detriment, then in no way should her experience be satisfactory. Her credentials don't even come close to what Obama has being a US Senator working on issues of all sorts both foreign and domestic. If we want to learn how to shoot moose, then vote McCain/Palin. I for one believe we need to take things in a different direction. There is no way that McCain is going to do that no matter what he says. Actions speak much louder than words and there has been no stronger supporter of Bush policies than McCain.
And if you know anything about History, McCains words and ramblings about the economy sound an awful lot like another master of economics, Herbert Hoover. Whom you may recall presided over the worst economic disaster. And it took a Democrat (FDR) to pull us out of the Great Depression.
Obama should quote Bill Clinton to say "It's the economy, stupid!" - founderofpork, on 09/16/2008, -3/+13Factcheck.org has about ten McCain lies for each of Obama's. And Obama's are generally not as blatant and false as McCain's.
Factcheck.org is not a liberal website. John McCain just lies a lot.
But yes, please, make an Obama lie counter. They both lie. John McCain just thinks the American people are idiots who won't be able to see through his *****. - JenniferInMO, on 09/16/2008, -0/+10The best you can do is one pathetic op-ed column from the Washington Post? What, no alien spacecraft spotted near his campaign? No two-headed lipstick covered pig baby?
- cherwilco, on 09/16/2008, -1/+11that moderator would be one busy mofo till this election is over!
- Deanblackoak, on 09/16/2008, -1/+11Experience has never matter for the President. Never will. McCain made it an issue. Then he picks a VP with hardly any.
- uradox, on 09/16/2008, -1/+11Left-wing and right-wing alike don’t exactly accept Jill. She’s a pro-life extremist who’s said some stupid things in the past. No one wants to be seen next to her so it’s easy to see why people would not see her as credible.
- bpoteat, on 09/16/2008, -0/+10@jflm3jflm3 - I think you are a little confused.
http://www.wnd.com/ = republican, advertising supported propaganda site.
http://www.factcheck.org/ = nonpartisan, nonprofit organization to inform voters of misinformation on both sides.
Believe it or not, you could probably find some information to fuel your propaganda on factcheck.org if you looked closely. They really are nonpartisan. - zombies187, on 09/16/2008, -2/+12I think McCain points should require spelling and punctuation.
- IanPR, on 09/16/2008, -0/+9Abortion =/= Infanticide
Its more of a leech, and can't survive on its own, so its not technically living anyways. - heystoopid, on 09/16/2008, -0/+9The real problem is "You can't handle the truth!" as your version of the current reality of the situation at hand has been substituted with your own which is in another surreal imaginary alternate dimension .
- dcmjzero, on 09/16/2008, -3/+12What is McCain's executive experience? Don't you get tired of these lame talking points? Do you really think this helps McCain? You are not even trying anymore. Let me help: Empty suit! Secret Muslin! His brother is a poor African! There. I am sure we just helped get votes for McCain!
- Pixelpaws, on 09/16/2008, -8/+17Is there a similar page for Obama? I'm not going to spew the "Obama is a liar" crap that about a dozen commenters above have; I simply am interested in seeing both sides of the coin and holding both candidates accountable for what they say.
- cJw314, on 09/16/2008, -3/+12HEY! He was a POW, damn it!
- heystoopid, on 09/16/2008, -2/+10Sadly , there are so many lies but not including those he made in the eighties that it will take me at least six months to cross double/triple check and investigate to make it impossible to digest in one hit just like his fellow alleged Vietnam war hero and equally corrupt puker piglet by the name of Randy (puke me guts out) Cunningham .
For a person that supposedly espouses such righteous right wing extremist judeo christian beliefs of honesty and integrity and extreme family values ! With all these lies it is a wonder that his lord god does not reach up from hell grab him by the B***S and smite him down for giving Christianity such a bum rap , as it is telling everyone that both lying and greed is good .
Yet the bible belt wankers across the mid west are told by their equally greedy corrupt priests to worship the very bad stench gas from his A**SE , talk about double and triple standards ?
Choices ? - flameboy, on 09/16/2008, -4/+12I don't want a liar for president. Do you?
Lie 1. Obama wants to teach sex ed to kindergartners
Lie 2. Palin was against the bridge to nowhere
Lie 3. Obama never drafted any legislation
Lie 4. Obama will raise taxes and McCain will cut them
There are many more, those are just the easiest to prove as lies. - cherwilco, on 09/16/2008, -0/+8@JK1150
so this is what you call a project of the democratic party? did you even RTFA? btw its not editable for a reason. when your pointing out the lies coming from the liars party then who's to stop the lying liars from coming in and editing Obama's name everywhere in place of where you see McCain's?
