- cheezintern, on 07/09/2008, -19/+103What a classy guy, he's def presidential material, demanding world wide respect. Not.
- mystcnurse, on 07/09/2008, -11/+93It was soooo cool when all we had to worry about were blow jobs.
- Shaggy3, on 07/09/2008, -16/+80Disgusting. Just saw this on the local news in Pittsburgh - love the part where Cindy gives him the your-embarrassing-please-stop-talking poke.
- dhard32, on 07/09/2008, -8/+66What better way to improve diplomatic relations with Iran. Publicly joke about killing them... McCain would do wonders for our foreign relations!
- twiztidsinz, on 07/09/2008, -5/+50"as his wife, Cindy, poked him in the back."
Terrorist Back Poke?
No? Cuz they're white? - Metropolis, on 07/09/2008, -7/+44Reminds me of Dubya more and more each day.
- an0nymous, on 07/09/2008, -3/+35Well, give him this: he says what's on his mind.
Killing Iranians. - Foenetik, on 07/09/2008, -6/+36real classy. so classy in fact that you could call him a "classhole".
- stfucupcake, on 07/09/2008, -9/+38What a complete idiot. What a sad day for America should he somehow get elected.
Seriously, the Republican party made a huge mistake with this one. - shakbhaji, on 07/09/2008, -5/+25His suit is black not.
- mitikomon, on 07/09/2008, -4/+23/off topic
I can't think about even one "non American" cigarette brand in Iran. Winston, Marlboro and kent are the most common among young peoples. - swrostmore, on 07/09/2008, -11/+27McCain and his base believe we (Whites, Christians) are engaged in WWIII against all Muslims. His rhetorical slips and "jokes" reveal his powerful desire to escalate this imaginary war, with the goal of total Muslim genocide.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -3/+19and i thought ***** was a moron
- b0rna, on 07/09/2008, -5/+21As an Iranian living in Canada, ***** McCain.
- Shaman760, on 07/09/2008, -5/+21That's all we need is someone in the white house who thinks killing people is a joke. Then telling the press to "get a life". Utterly sickening.
- cryptomystic, on 07/09/2008, -6/+21George Carlin was right, this country is finished.
- angusm, on 07/09/2008, -7/+22Under president McCain, we can look forward to a new era of open-mike blunders unmatched since the glory days of the Reagan presidency.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+16Leave him alone, he's saving bandwidth.
- Grandpohbah, on 07/09/2008, -6/+19McCain is his own worst enemy.
- DooM, on 07/09/2008, -1/+12The worst part is that he immediately apologized but NOT for the killing Iranians part - he was apologizing for making light of the health effects of cigarettes for *****'s sake.
"I meant that as a joke... as a person who hasn't smoked a cigarette in.. 28? 29 years..?" - jazgold, on 07/09/2008, -2/+13what are you talking about???
I'M still worried about blowjobs - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+12Can we get some Gerald Ford style slips and stumbles, and maybe a golf ball to the head type of story? The whole slip of the tongue thing is soooo played out...
- conrail, on 07/09/2008, -3/+13No mistake at all. They do this over and over again. Make a total mess of the economy, foreign affairs, etc., and let a democrat win so he can take the heat for doing the unpleasant tasks necessary to get the country back on track.
When Obama doesn't make the bush tax giveaway permanent in order to try and reign in deficit spending, he'll be accused of ushering in the largest tax increase in US history. When he reaches a solution for our presence in Iraq, he'll "lose" the war. When he pushes the government to enact better mileage standards and explore alternative energy, he'll be "giving in" to eco-terrorists. When he supports social reform, he'll be a "slave" to multiculturalism.
All the republicans will need to do in 2016 is find an aw-shucks kind of guy that everyone wants to have a beer with, wrap him in the flag, and we'll have start the cycle back to war, recession, and runaway corporate welfare. - lazerus9, on 07/09/2008, -4/+12Later when mcCaine was confronted:http://youtube.com/watch?v=O9KlQPX1qiE
- Gryffydd, on 07/09/2008, -4/+12What's almost worse than the stupid joke is the fact that he has no idea how to answer the question and the best he can do is "Maybe I'll have an answer for you tomorrow"
Once someone gives it to him, no doubt. - mlrigsby, on 07/09/2008, -2/+10So because the Iranian government says somethings you don't like, it's okay for a major presidential candidate to advocate killing them?
I think you and Osama bin Laden would get along quite well. - ravage86, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8really? well *****, i better start smoking then. It has a lot of benefits, right? like... hmm... i can look cool in front of my friends! You can demonstrate your newly found power to stink to everybody, have the walls of your home slowly turn color perhaps.
I tried it once, and it was terrible. I'm not going to spend money every day on something that is unpleasant with absolutely no positive attributes. but thanks. - Chebsi, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8Lebanon
- cyberprunes, on 07/09/2008, -2/+9"They" didn't say that. Achmadinijad said something that translates to "the occupation regime over Jerusalem should vanish from the page of time." Not exactly a love not but not a call to war either. That's something the US implies to support its warmongering.
Iran poses almost no threat to Israel.
Iran would never nuke Israel. Jerusalem is Jewish,Christian AND Muslim holy land. What sense does that make?
Iran is not stupid enough to attack Israel. It would mean their obvious destruction.
Iran has never threatened war against Israel.
Achmadinijad has very little actual power.
You don't know what you're talking about. Why is it so easy for people to advocate killing mass amounts of
people based on so little evidence. You should feel ashamed of yourself. It sickens me that people like you get to call yourselves Americans. - metallic07039, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7Newsflash - the US never had any world wide respect, unless we were making someone money. People do not attack countries because they respect them, IMO.
Question is do we work on that respect, which at this point may take ages and could get costly. Or elect someone like McCain, secure our borders, and continue giving the finger to everyone else - which could be costly as well (or profitable).
I don't know. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7yes i do. iranian people actually love america, its their GOVERNMENT that doesnt.
- harmil, on 07/09/2008, -4/+10"But yet the Digg liberals don't get offended when Iran talks about wiping Israel off the map."
I don't know if I'm a Digg liberal or not, but I most certainly get offended when anyone talks about wiping anyone else off the map. That doesn't really modify the situation, nor excuse such a crass statement amid the current political stress between the U.S. and Iran. McCain circa 2005 would have had my vote, but over the course of the last two years, this man has shown his true colors, and frankly, I'd be more concerned about an intelligent warmonger as president than the bumbling, greedy idiot we've had over the past 7 years. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7Syria and Brazil.
- sindex, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7Did you just make a "not" joke?
.... - trogdoor, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7There is a huge difference between a country's people and its government.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7The premise of the "joke" is that it is funny to kill Iranians.
Only a sociopath thinks this is funny. - mystcnurse, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5to both of you above. Watch Fox News much?
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7If only he would have joked about killing them with nuclear weapons. That ain't no joke either.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6I don't think McCain does, but his base sure as hell does, so he at least has to play ball.
- davewashere, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5Ohhh, I thought that was just a drug-induced twitch.
- dagnabbit, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6Someone did - a librarian.
She was removed from the event. - sodade, on 07/09/2008, -3/+8Using the pottery barn analogy, we broke Iran in 53. I wonder how much it will cost us when it is all said and done...
- X86BSD, on 07/09/2008, -4/+9That was never said idiot. Stop watching FAKE news.
- EricSchC1, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5Because anyone, let alone McCain and like-minded Americans, are enough of a moral authority to decide which Iranians are the "right" Iranians to kill. Wow, you're dense.
"Which neighbors attacking their neighbor's intruders are the right neighbors to kill?"
If that made no sense, take comfort in the fact your comment didn't make any either. - schneid4323, on 07/09/2008, -4/+9I thought it was pretty funny. Whichever of the two guys you chose, we get NAU, we get Iran, and we arent coming out of Iraq.
One Faction, Two Sides. Same Goals. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+61. We're not in anything even approaching resemblance to WW2.
2. It's not funny to joke about killing people. It is potentially the sign of someone who has psychological problems, if they really think that ***** is funny.
Only ***** ***** make jokes like this. We're not living in the ancient old days of the 1940s when blacks were being lynched and didn't have the vote and women were treated like *****, and the average person was as ignorant as all hell. If you want to live in that kind of society, ***** off to the third world. The rest of us want to live in the 21st century with 21st century morals and ethics. - Duositex, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5That's because he's such a good actor. The REAL John McCain is not this idiot posing as a republican presidential candidate. Though I suppose the REAL G.W. Bush isn't quite what we're used to either. Think cocaine, alcohol, speeding tickets and.. well you get the picture.
- an0nymous, on 07/09/2008, -3/+7The guy's a presidential candidate. This was intemperate, rash and ill considered.
If this helps: he's on a long job interview and he just told an inappropriate joke to the HR rep.
Think he should get the job? - WELLDOITLIVE, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4You are all diseased
- Duositex, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5Unfortunately that distracted us from some pretty serious geo-political situations. It just-so-happens that this audience (digg folks) are a much more globally aware group than was ever possible during that time period.
Agreed though... I wish it were that simple. -
