- ConAmoreEFuoco, on 07/09/2008, -3/+23Satire. Sadly, that was a joke. Even more sadly, it was entirely believable.
- Crakecake, on 07/09/2008, -7/+25This is satire, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if McCain did this, he seems not to value human life if they are not white and christian.
- MakiMaki, on 07/09/2008, -0/+14Um. The entire post is satirical. The writer is a comedian and there wasn't any such page on McCain's site.
- FTWmovin2canada, on 07/09/2008, -5/+16Actually, he doesn't value human life if they have natural resources. If he becomes president he may declare war on Oregon to steal their oil.
- blakecr, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8I was convinced he wanted to kill all Iranians...I guess I should quite listening to the crazy lefty Huffpo and take the words straight from the horses' ass' mouth "...bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran!"
- labortrials, on 07/09/2008, -4/+11Ok, so it was a joke. Sad that it's not too hard to believe . . .
- Crimsoneer, on 07/09/2008, -5/+12Sorry, but not presenting this as satire is either irresponsible or amoral.
- jveezy, on 07/09/2008, -4/+11By no means do I support McCain, but this is incredibly irresponsible from the Huffington Post. Yeah it's a humor column. Yeah it's satire. I get it. Some people don't. This isn't The Onion where we expect all the news to be fake. This is a blog that a lot of people read for political insight. The very least they could do was indicate that it is satire at the end of the article. Maybe in fine print. Most of us can probably figure that out from the fact that the author is a comedian, but the entire article (and the Digg submission as well) is presented in a manner that suggests this is a serious article. With people nowadays simply digging articles because of the title and not reading, it won't surprise me if this makes the front page and we see a flurry of "How dare he" or "What the hell are they thinking" or other McCain bashing comments.
Like all the commenters before me said, this is satire, but entirely believable. That of course makes the satire more poignant and depressing, but it also makes it more dangerous if people do believe it to be true, so we should all be careful when digging or posting stories like these. - sanskover, on 07/09/2008, -4/+10If this is satire it's in bad taste. But if it's true, it's in horrific taste.
- rebotfc, on 07/09/2008, -4/+10I presume this is satire.
Huffington Post should stay well clear of this type of reporting (no matter how near the mark it may be), it reads as serious reporting and will undermine the rest of the publication. - labortrials, on 07/09/2008, -6/+12Hmm, I think McCain should leave the "wacka wacka" to the comics. Oh, and Christie Brinkley is like soooooo 1980s (sorry Christie).
- PrismoFillusion, on 07/10/2008, -2/+7Why is the Huffington Post doing satire?
I'm not trying to have a stick up my arse, but I have hard time taking them seriously as a news website with this kind of stuff. It's The Onion's job anyway; and they're better at it. - blakecr, on 07/09/2008, -8/+12I wonder why they removed this from their website?
- aaabatteries, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4This is political satire, not real.
- txchica, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6Did you read any of the comments above you, this whole thing is fake, McCain had nothing to do with this. It was written by someone at the Huffpo. Typical Huffpo crap, if you can't find something to write about, then just make it up..because someone will believe it's real, as evidenced by this post.
- HanFastolfe, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6"Cindy McCain brought an abandoned three-month old girl needing medical treatment to the U.S. from a Bangladeshi orphanage run by Mother Teresa;[79] the McCains decided to adopt her, and named her Bridget.[80]"

Nice attempt at racism, Crakecake = EPIC FAIL, and the same for all the "progressives" that dugg you up. The same kind that would recoil at the thought of racism on the part who would vote against Sen. Obama.
Find decent reasons to oppose Sen. McCain, not scummy baseless stupidity. - flfny, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3If that was the case, he wouldn't sing "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran". And frankly McCain only sees the oil(and not to steal it mind you, it'd be to control the flow of it, record high/barrel = record proffits for oil companies). And if you or someone else says that he wants democracy for Iran, like I've heard before, then shut it. They've voted for their president (even with the little power he has).
The problem is when you hold up the stick before the carrot, the other guy runs franticly to find a bigger stick, or in this case nuclear bomb. It's all leverage and people are always looking to get more leverage against their enemies. - Brutis, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2the article is a joke, the site doesn't exist.
- Gemfinder, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3Not funny. Buried.
- znicket, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2I saw Arianna on BBC's Hardtalk. The interviewer skewered her exactly for this reason and exposed her biased tactics for what they were. When Arianna said that she would do "anything" in order to prevent McCain from getting the presidency she lost all her credibility as a news source.
This satirical piece, and the misrepresentation of it, is just a case in point. - Morchades, on 07/10/2008, -2/+4It scares me that I had to check the given URL to be sure that this was satire. Burying to avoid confusion.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+4evil people sometimes do good things to look good
- Gorgamel, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2From some of the comments above me, my respect for digg has dropped just a little bit more.
- Geniusjones, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1I think I'll declare war on Oregon to steal their tax structure.
- aaronisreal, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1My guess is that they realized some people were going to believe it and really didn't have much problem with it. It's a tactic used on both sides.
- JCizle, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2Decent reasons?
Making jokes about killing people from another country and you still need someone to find decent reasons to oppose McCain?
I don't believe his name and decency belong in the same sentence at this current point in time.
I'm gonna go back to my 'mental recession' now. Sorry for wasting you guys' time. - aaronisreal, on 07/11/2008, -1/+2"The writer writes for the New Yorker and it is really funny and completely believable. He is a comedian. He also wrote a really funny book called The Republican Playbook. Very funny stuff. Sorry that the GOP does not have a sense of humor."
Oooh, so it IS funny. Thanks for the clarification; couldn't tell if it was funny or not, but who am I kidding, I don't have much of a sense of humor. The fact that he's a comedian should've tipped me off that this was funny. I'll go and have a hearty laugh now. - ghostoftomjoad, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1yea i got it after i posted that...
- sane, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Just a note if you look at who wrote the post you will find this at the bottom 'Andy Borowitz is a comedian and writer whose work appears in The New Yorker and The New York Times"
- Gorgamel, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Ha, you must be joking. I didn't honestly think HuffingtonPost could get lower than they already were. And yet their articles make it to the front page all the time. I will link to this article every time someone thinks they are a legitimate source.
- Schweppes7T4, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1What the hell is this *****? This guy thinks making jokes about killing people is funny? What a complete douche. Its one thing if you're "just some guy", or even an actual comedian, but when you're trying to become president... What makes him any different from all the Iranians burning American flags and saying that we should DIAF?
- HanFastolfe, on 07/11/2008, -2/+2BoonTobias
"evil people sometimes do good things to look good"
Wow, just wow. You reference evil, without any concept of what evil is. Evil would not be adopting a child that needed medical care seventeen years ago to allegedly `look good' today. If for some reason he paraded her around as, `hey look at my little brown girl', then your assertion might begin to have merit. As it is, your feeble attempt to dismiss the OP's racism is pathetic.
JCizle
Lighten up Francis, just lighten up. I remember well the point in time when `Bomb Iran' was on the radio. In a time long before your daddy had the ham sandwich that later became the gleam in his eye before he climbed on top of your mom. There's a whole generation of you that have only ever known a Clinton or a Bush in the White House, suffer.
I remember, when I was a partisan Democrat, and Reagan made the joke about bombing Russia. I was appalled at the time. Ten years later I could genuinely laugh at what the man said in the context that it was meant. With some maturity you'll get over yourself.
"I don't believe his name and decency belong in the same sentence at this current point in time."
Of course you don't believe it. The current crop of young liberals have been stunted by the Bush/Clinton/Bush paradigm. I, as consevative have had no problem stating time, and again (even to my conservative friends) that Sen. Obama is a decent fellow.
Just that his policies are utterly wrong, and more then that he's not quite ready for prime time. It's the hateful indecency of the Left that will be it's undoing.
Maybe someone who was a former L.A chapter head of N.O.W. for seven years, an old school dedicated Leftist can explain the concept of political decency to you:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUI ...
That is, assuming, you bother to read it.
In a time before you were born Reagan, and Tip O’Neill could oppose each other at their day jobs, but never degenerate to the point where there was real animus towards each other. Maybe that's a quaint notion by us old timers about politics. But, this hyper partisan era has made discourse too brittle. Both parties are to blame. - publiclurker, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1Maybe Cindy wanted someone she could steal prescriptions from.
- sulthernao, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1I think he was referring to his crude comments about Iranians instead of accusing him of being a racist.
- Geniusjones, on 07/12/2008, -0/+0Umm, it says the author is a comedian right at the bottom. I assume because you read the article you can also read it all if you choose?
- blakecr, on 07/09/2008, -3/+3Thanks for the clarification. I stand by my comment above. They are royally ****ed and evil.
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1Oh please, it's not hard to tell.
- flfny, on 07/10/2008, -3/+2You know he acts all conservative, but at heart he's a toker. You know it. Look he often seems dazed and he never remembers names so he calls everyone "my friend". I'm telling you McCaine is a toker fo sure.
- cindywren, on 07/10/2008, -5/+4I think McCain got his comic training from Bush. His jokes are just as bad and tactless. Not sure how this is helpful to his foreign policy with Iran if he becomes President, even if it is "humor".
- digihoffa, on 07/11/2008, -2/+1It's funny till the Iranian shows up. dood, not cool
- kessel, on 07/11/2008, -2/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyp-TnPZmhU
- Geniusjones, on 07/12/2008, -1/+0It's comedy guys.
But if you want to wipe the smile off your face, read it again and replace the word 'Iranians' with 'Americans.' - blakecr, on 07/10/2008, -3/+1The writer writes for the New Yorker and it is really funny and completely believable. He is a comedian. He also wrote a really funny book called The Republican Playbook. Very funny stuff. Sorry that the GOP does not have a sense of humor.
- ghostoftomjoad, on 07/10/2008, -3/+1Can someone link/mirror the original jokes? The link at huffington is dead
- blakecr, on 07/09/2008, -8/+5Does anyone have a screen shot before they pulled the site? If this actually was posted on their website they are royally ****ed. The GOP might think of placing Ron Paul as their nominee if McCain keeps it up. I guess the modern GOP wouldn't do that because then they would actually be constitutional and forced to quite being so evil.
www.JohnMcCain.com/funnywaystokilliranians - LeeSoong, on 07/09/2008, -12/+4A completely false story.
Nice smear for the Obama crowd,
but Mr. McCain realizes the value Iran brings to the world,
and Iran's importance to the USA.
