- MercyPolitics, on 08/13/2008, -13/+357Hilarious statement coming from someone in full support of Iraq's invasion by the US, England and a little help from.....Georgia.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -11/+305I'm telling you he's Senile.
- marabout40, on 08/13/2008, -11/+270What he meant was, "...nations don't invade other nations (except the US)."
- blakecr, on 08/13/2008, -6/+164They cut out the clip of Lieberman leaning over whispering in John's ear, "...2003 is considered the 21st century...quick history lesson...that's when we invaded Iraq...just clarifying because you just looked really dumb..."
- BishkekBuddy, on 08/13/2008, -9/+121I just heard Condibaby saying the same thing and the hypocrisy is just TOO much.... something like "in the 21st century, one nation does not invade another nation with the intent of overthrowing the ruling government" or some such description of what we did in Iraq.
They have absolutely NO shame and all of them should be brought before the War Crimes Court in the Hague. Let the world judge them. - GrandmaSheila, on 08/13/2008, -5/+90The old coot probably forgot about Iraq altogether....
- Carv, on 08/13/2008, -6/+81Of course, in the 21st century we don't do that. That's why McCain pushed for an Iraq invasion in the 20th century. (See: 1998)
- SoyJames, on 08/14/2008, -7/+77I figured it out. McCain is TRYING to lose the election. That's the only plausible explanation for this complete incompetence. The US economy and the invasion of Iraq and the war in Afghanistan are going to turn so entirely bad that Republicans will try and pin it all on the Democrat controlled Congress and Democrat President... The Republicans not only ***** all over this country, they smeared it all the floor, walls and ceiling. Now they're just waiting for the unsuspecting new guy to walk in so they can point at him and scream "LOOK WHAT HE DID HE SMEARED ***** ALL OVER THE PLACE!". Don't fall for it Democrats. You have to point out what a mess the GOP has made NOW, before you get the power. Otherwise it's all on you.
Or maybe McCain is just stupid, what do I know... - Charun, on 08/14/2008, -0/+63"The ironing is delicious."
- roflmaololstorm, on 08/13/2008, -9/+70Not spewing this type of hypocrisy is precisely why Senator Obama is such a "worldwide celebrity" and exactly what the U.S. needs to restore credibility worldwide. I am happy to see Senator McCain follow Senator Obama's leadership in being against reckless and unwarranted invasions of other nations.
- FTWmovin2canada, on 08/14/2008, -2/+61These neocons are making all Americans look like hypocritical idiots.
- cryptomystic, on 08/14/2008, -1/+51"To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.'
--1984 ,George Orwell defining Doublethink - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -5/+50Obvious hypocrisy is obvious.
United States, please DON'T VOTE for that guy. - AtHomeBoy2000, on 08/13/2008, -9/+51Like... say... how we invaded Iraq?
And in what world does John McCain think invasions and war wont exist? - peticsu, on 08/14/2008, -3/+45"the candidate doesn't speak for the campaign"
McCain is an embarrassment - paradexes, on 08/14/2008, -2/+44Seriously does the GOP pride themselves on being ignorant morons? I mean seriously how can ANYONE in their right mind support this guy?! Hell a few months ago before he won the primaries he was being written off, noone wanted him to win. And yet here he is.
- jaymzdean, on 08/14/2008, -1/+40But Eurasia has always been at war with Eastasia.
- JAB6, on 08/14/2008, -2/+40Stop and think about actually having this man as president and saying these kinds of things. It's deja vu all over again.
- kojaa, on 08/13/2008, -5/+39and israel...
- indubitably, on 08/14/2008, -0/+31"..in europe."
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -9/+38Dudes dangerous!
- rawsteak, on 08/14/2008, -2/+29i am both amazed and saddened no one in the audience started to laugh. this sounds like something that would make me giggle uncontrollably the second John McCain said that. but no one laughed, which means everyone took it seriously, which means it's probably not even going to be covered in the media.
- damack, on 08/14/2008, -1/+28Well if being president doesn't work out for him at least he's got a future in comedy.
- jbrand45, on 08/14/2008, -0/+26So what century is this clown living in then?
- lncb2u, on 08/13/2008, -8/+32McCain can only be delusional, stupid, or mental believing his own BS. The danger is he's all of the above!

...
"Now lets go and kick the ***** out of those Iranians!" - paradexes, on 08/14/2008, -0/+24He would have called Lieberman a ***** and a trollop then continued to just talk about it anyway.
- Samwel, on 08/14/2008, -1/+24atleast he knows what century it is....
- ZeeZee2k, on 08/14/2008, -0/+22In 21st Century Nations Don't Invade Other Nations........in Europe.
- Loonacy, on 08/14/2008, -2/+24Yeah, how dare people use a different form of government! We know what's best!
- denizen42, on 08/14/2008, -0/+20Hypocrisy should be an olympic discipline.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -0/+19Yet another McCain's memorable statements. Seriously, a man in his position can't make a statement like that, it's just incoherent.
- chesscat, on 08/14/2008, -1/+19Sounds like McCain is borrowing from Bush's speech:
"Russia has invaded a sovereign neighboring state and threatens a democratic government elected by its people. Such an action is unacceptable in the 21st century," Bush said in a televised statement from the White House."
When I heard this I laughed because I knew someone would bring up Iraq invasion. - zephyear, on 08/14/2008, -2/+20obamas judgment > mccains experience
- Sandhog, on 08/14/2008, -0/+18Strange, Lieberman has had to do that quite often. I really don't want to have a president that needs someone constantly leaning over his shoulder correcting him.
- JekJob, on 08/14/2008, -2/+19Do they not notice their hypocrisy? Or are they just ignoring it?
I mean, don't they realize that these kinds of statements COMPLETELY delegitimize them, if they weren't already? Anyway, the Repubs are getting sloppy - just the way I like it. - diabolicedict, on 08/14/2008, -4/+20Is there an secret minimum work experience limit in the constitution? As far as i know, even stupid people like McCain are eligible to run for President.
Your candidate is full of work experience, but lacking in substance. - deathfix, on 08/14/2008, -4/+19If you add "in Europe" to his hypocritical statements, they'll make more sense.
- FairDinkumMate, on 08/14/2008, -0/+15@Thomaslee3
First, point - "Democracy is a system of government by which political sovereignty is retained by the people and exercised directly by citizens." Any other form of government then necessarily involves the people having no choice in the matter. If they did, it would be a democracy! So the point stands that you are saying the only legitimate form of government is democracy.
Secondly - You're building a terrible strawman. IF you honestly believe it's true that the US has a 'right' and/or 'obligation' to remove any government that isn't a Democracy, or let's push it further, isn't a Democracy & is 'abusive to its citizens', why hasn't the US invaded Burma, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan?
The US has no 'right' to either invade or dictate the form of government in another country. If the US was seriously only interested in making the world a 'better place' then they'd be pushing hard to remove the biggest stumbling block of the UN, veto power held by 5 nations across the range of the political spectrum. A simple 'majority rules' democracy at the UN would remove one of the biggest UN issues in helping in crisis issues as right now any 'rogue' government simply needs one ally amongst the 5 to avoid any serious UN issues. For example, the issue in Georgia right now can't be resolved by the UN because Russia is involved & it holds a veto. - cjhowe, on 08/14/2008, -0/+15pshh...invading other nations is so 2003
- Vonauda, on 08/14/2008, -3/+17In the words of Jon Stewart: "In the 21st Century, nations don't invade other countries........in Europe.
- tiffanyjm, on 08/14/2008, -1/+15I think you've been watching too many McCain ads.
- SilasTomorrow, on 08/14/2008, -4/+18No, no! Nations don't invade other nations.
Empires are a different story. - 420buddah, on 08/14/2008, -1/+15What's worse is they are making us look like a bunch of fools on the world stage. Russian officials must be in uproar of laughter because of the low level of stupidity displayed by our leaders.
I can't wait for the response to these ridiculous assertions from their leaders....I hope they craft up something epic to trump this blatant idiocy....Sometimes stupid people, not to mention stupid and corrupt leaders of the most powerful country in the world, deserve complete and merciless humiliation. - singingsox, on 08/14/2008, -4/+16If Obama didn't have political experience, he wouldn't have made it to be the democratic nominee.
Besides, in general, the most experienced person isn't always the best at something. - HonestAbe, on 08/14/2008, -1/+13You're right, Thomas; civil war is definitely an improvement over a "note democratic" government. Thank God we have McCain to help us wage war against countries like Iraq. I mean liberate them. Liberate them from the surface of the Earth. With bombs.
- HonestAbe, on 08/14/2008, -2/+14It's not an invasion, we didn't declare war! It's a "liberation"!
- FTWmovin2canada, on 08/14/2008, -0/+12Would this qualify as an invasion flip flop?
- FTWmovin2canada, on 08/14/2008, -0/+12No you're getting it all mixed up. My friends, there will be wars, my friends, but no invading other nations, my friends, my friends, my friends...
