- spartacus409, on 01/05/2008, -7/+64Great news here for jcm and the bury brigade. Vote for McCain and you will still have time to enlist and get in on the fun. Yu know, getting your ass shot off for the glory of Halliburton.
1-800-MARINES - jamsoe, on 01/05/2008, -14/+60Insane McCain would bankrupt the US. I'm sure he doesn't care though... He'll just bag up his AIPAC loot and move to Israel.
- unicronband, on 01/05/2008, -5/+42"as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed"
Um, uh, hate to break it to you McCain, but that's kind of happening right now. By your logic, shouldn't we have withdrawn by now? - drmobutu, on 01/05/2008, -3/+26That was the plan, all along...
- pfoote, on 01/05/2008, -9/+31The neo-conservatives (neo-Trotskyites) and AIPAC are destroying America. We need to stop destroying America's wealth, economy, and the value of the dollar by voting out of office all neoconservatives (Democrats and Republicans). The neoconservatives are lying about exporting democracy. They are exporting totalitarian rule, military occupation, and support for terrorists (such as the Iranian communist MEK, MKO, PMOI, NCRI, Rajavi Cult, or Pol Pot of Iran).
- unicronband, on 01/05/2008, -5/+26Chickenhawk much? Are YOU volunteering to spend the rest of YOUR life there? If not, please go ***** yourself.
- Vigilo, on 01/05/2008, -5/+23Damn, Mcain is friggin insane. Gotta love good ole zionist Lieberman behind him haha what a joke. Here is video of him saying it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf7HYoh9YMM - Richandler, on 01/05/2008, -2/+13Well pretty much all candidates, there's one exception, will bury the US in even more debt. Almost all candidates are staying in Iraq and proposing more programs at home. Of course the average voter has no clue what any candidate is actually doing.
- ChaosMotor, on 01/05/2008, -2/+13I read it, and you're the one who's full of crap. American military forces are not the Imperial Guard. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to American taxpayers to keep troops stationed at 1500 some odd bases in 200 countries? It's ludicrous and unsupportable, no matter how lucrative it is for the Military Industrial Complex.
- ChaosMotor, on 01/05/2008, -0/+104 years ago he was 4 years less addled by age. He looks like an old kid in his grandfather's rumpled suit. The man needs to retire and take a long nap, maybe sit on the porch with a glass of lemonade and yell at the neighbor kids to keep off his yard. He has no place in politics.
- Dotnetsky, on 01/05/2008, -1/+10Well, Democrats have been in power for over a year and have accomplished little on this score. We might not be in Iraq for 100 years, but we still have 30,000 servicepeople in Korea after 50 years. So staying the course in a strategic place for America may not be as far off as it sounds.
- hagbard72, on 01/05/2008, -2/+11He said "AIPAC", you really think they represent mainstream Jewish opinion? But you got to wonder who's backing them.
- monkeyrun, on 01/05/2008, -2/+11okay, on one condition, he and his family will all stay in Iraq for the next 100 years.
- SiNN4R, on 01/05/2008, -5/+14I'm glad he is willing to sacrafice American lives yet to be born. He's such a protector.
- Camaroman, on 01/05/2008, -0/+8No troops were dying in Saudi Arabia and look what that got us....
- pimpofpixels, on 01/05/2008, -2/+10Aren't we already bankrupt?
- petebert, on 01/05/2008, -0/+7expect troops to be in Iraq for a hundred years regardless of who is president. They still get non vol sent to Korea for 12 months. After Gulf Storm up until Iraqi freedom, troops were still deploying to Kuwait and other places in the middle east. Hell we're still in Germany and Japan.
- terdblossom, on 01/05/2008, -6/+13Draft the bury brigade! Let them fight the endless senseless wars,
- CosmicSurfer, on 01/05/2008, -4/+10McCain was given the kiss of the Neo-Cons when he met with the Brat King Wanna-Be and his evil side kick in the White House over torture...The day when he went in screaming no torture and came out saying well, maybe a little is OK for the good of the people...
He just thought they wouldn't turn on him. The Rove machine ain't working yet but who knows...This time 2009 the Neo-Con Machine could have fixed enough votes, bought as many election commissions as needed and put the fix on enough machines to rig it for the 3rd time....OR Bush might declare Marshall Law and kick out the vote (he has set up that as a possibility through laws, signing statements, directives, orders and his hold on the Supreme Court)
I hope to God I am wrong but whenever I see those diabolical little psychotic eyes giggling in their sockets and hear that hebephrenic laugh eminating from Georgie Porgie, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and my stomach turns.
They aren't going to give it up without a sleezy, slimey fight - bowe, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6multilateralism - enforcing your will upon other countries through military might.
- Rodalli, on 01/05/2008, -2/+8The older and richer you get, the more life becomes all about them dolla', dolla' bills, ya'll.
- Truzseeker, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5This is the kind of candidate the mainstream media sells to what they think is for the public good. Yes take a good look that this tyrant that should have never been elected to office, and he got there with money and the power of corruption. Same goes for all of the others except for Ron Paul and just maybe Dennis - that's if he decides to distance himself from Obama.
- drowningfish, on 01/05/2008, -1/+6Awww how cute.. Lieberman bought himself a Kermit puppet.
- seanhive, on 01/05/2008, -2/+7I know what he meant, but the point is we can't continue marching into thousand-year-old wars with this impenetrable arrogance that we can fix these things. We need to get our troops out of Iraq, we need to concentrate on our own problems. And we need to get over ourselves in thinking that that's being selfish.
- Sogui, on 01/05/2008, -5/+10McCain is a standup guy, too bad Digg is filled with knee-jerk reactions and people who are willing to forgive Paul's sins for his principles... but just love to condemn candidates based on 1-2 misleading stories on Digg.
From the "other" submission: (not my words)
And the Digg Libtards don't even read the farking article. Granted the war in iraq was a terrible idea and doesn't look like it can be pacified but Mccain was stating that if we can pacify the situation in Iraq that it would be more beneficial for us to have a presence there.
Our presence in Germany, Japan and South Korea has allowed us to reap the benefits of many good trade deals as well as having a great location for staging a counter attack should a problem arise such as North Korea, China or Russia. Many of the technologies diggers enjoy today would be far too expensive if it weren't for the US army's presence there. If we were to have a presence in Iraq, we would reap the benefits of archaelogical discoveries (there's a lot of history in there), oil benefits (which we need) as well as other resources found in Iraq.
The problem isn't how long do we stay in Iraq. Its how long do we allow for the situation to pacify before making a decision to stay or not. The only problem I have with McCain's statement is how certain he is on Iraq being pacified. But to be fair, many people were saying the same thing when we invaded South Korea and that turned out to be one of the best US decisions. - akrondude, on 01/05/2008, -1/+6I'm not going to vote for him for a thousand, or even a million years; and thats fine with ME.
- hplasm, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5"The rest of your life" can be a much shorter time in Iraq than in EU or Japan.
- Elranzer, on 01/05/2008, -3/+8Kinda sad that in the past he was not only a maverick politician, but also a prisoner of war. 4 years ago he would be the last one anyone expected to become Bush II.
- hagbard72, on 01/05/2008, -2/+6Republicans? Thought Lieberman was a Democrat? Thought the people in Congress keeping the war funded were Democrats? Thought Ron Paul was the most anti-war candidate of either party? Sorry, I'm Canadian, I'm lost.
- ChaosMotor, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4I don't think it's a coincidence that neo-con = new-scam.
- BeefBaron, on 01/05/2008, -1/+5They support making huge, HUGE money for themselves, that is all.
- dinsy, on 01/05/2008, -3/+7*****
- rwheeler, on 01/05/2008, -4/+8I'm an independent voter voting for Dr. Paul or Obama, but after reading the article all it all he is saying is that if we had soldiers in iraq like the soldiers in japan (not in combat) then they could have presence there for 100 years. I think its quite obvious (if you read between the lines) he means that if things stay they way there are currently, that we should pull out. He was just being humorous, and some diggers take it out of context and too seriously. Plus, he served his time, so he isn't the hypocrite Bush is.
/voted democrat in 2000 and 2004 - xerigen, on 01/05/2008, -4/+8Yeah, he's fine with keeping troops in Iraq for a hundred years because he might not even be around for a tenth of that occupation. Anyone else think it's stupid to say what's going to happen a FULL CENTURY FROM NOW?
- bowe, on 01/05/2008, -1/+5Shows you how tangled the man's logic must be.
Bring the troops home! --No we need to stop the violence or Al Qaeda wins!
===Violence Stops===
Brint the troops home! --Why? Nobody's being hurt now. You only bring troops home if they are in danger. - lebaige, on 01/05/2008, -4/+8Do you people even think? Maintaining a military presence in Iraq is a perfectly reasonable strategy for the region if violence ends, and that is all he is saying. It' hard to argue our presence in Korea and Japan has not been beneficial for both us and the nations involved, why would Iraq be different if the nation stabilizes?
- zacharytelschow, on 01/05/2008, -1/+5There have been numerous months where there were more murders in major US cities than there were in Iraq. Perhaps we should withdraw from Detroit?
- savecore, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4The video link is here

Enjoy Mccain's Dean Scream!! - hagbard72, on 01/05/2008, -1/+5Noticed that. Even saw the strings. ;-)
- cg4et, on 01/05/2008, -3/+7If that's the campaign he wants to run on -- bring it on.It just goes to show how completely out of touch the Republican Party is with where the American People are on this issue.
- Wetzilla, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Hey look, it's an uninformed idiot. We don't need other countries to set up bases in the united states, because we have our own army that is able to do what we need. There is no reason why we shouldn't have troops stationed in other countries when it is agreed upon by both countries, and it would be a benefit to both countries. Go digg another article about Ron Paul you uninformed idiot.
- imightbewrong, on 01/05/2008, -1/+4did anyone actually watch the video ?
- zacharytelschow, on 01/05/2008, -1/+4I can't believe the comments on here. If a US presence is necessary to keep the peace in Iraq, so be it. As McCain said, we have troops in South Korea (and probably always will). So what?
- pyronik, on 01/05/2008, -2/+5I'm pretty sure being tortured as a POW counts for "joining them" .. but whatever this is Digg .. logic need not apply
- petebert, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2so what were we trying to take from korea that made us stick around for 50 years, cheap Nikes?
- gonzap1, on 01/05/2008, -3/+5*****
- SvenJolly, on 01/05/2008, -1/+3A hundred years...or until their oil runs out, whichever coms first.
- tim2nyy, on 01/05/2008, -1/+3In a just world, that statement would be political suicide. Unfortunately, it probably won't be.
- Clearfire18, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Last time I checked, the American people are brainwashed morons. The people on here at least make an attempt to educate themselves about the candidates.
