- somberlaine, on 07/21/2008, -3/+61Iraq is a sovereign nation. Yeah sure.
- duckley, on 07/21/2008, -1/+44The Der Spiegel interview has been re-translated from the original audio tapes...
And the New Translations says EXACTLY what the old one did: Maliki likes Obama's plan better than McCains. - crxvfr, on 07/21/2008, -3/+38Who can you turn a quagmire into even more of a quagmire?
- MorganMghee, on 07/21/2008, -3/+30McCain only knows what people tell him, and he forgets it as soon as he's said it, and still isn't aware we can see or hear him.
- hawkeye17, on 07/22/2008, -4/+29McCain is becoming a joke...and sooner than I thought he would too!
- JBmtk, on 07/22/2008, -1/+18"McCain is picking up a tactic from President Bush: claiming that he can now speak for Iraqis and know what’s best for them."
He sure is - oboredone, on 07/21/2008, -0/+15Giggity.
- MorganMghee, on 07/21/2008, -0/+15Not to mention, Bush reiterated recently, "if the Iraqi's want us to leave, we will."
- YodaJones, on 07/22/2008, -6/+20*****.com domain still available.
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -0/+13...it was.
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -1/+12What happened to all those repubs yesterday trying to claim that it was a mistranslation?
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -4/+15If Obama wants to guarantee a win for himself this November, this is the key. For months McCain and the GOP has been hammering Obama for not "finding out what the folks on the ground" think. If the Dems were to put together some ads showing the parallel between Obama's 16-month plan and Maliki's "withdraw by 2010" opinion, they could score some serious points in what arguably the public views as McCain's greatest strength (war on terror)
- zephyear, on 07/22/2008, -1/+12you don't have to be liberal to know john mccain is ***** terrible
- ApokalypseNow, on 07/22/2008, -0/+8"becoming"?
- jbrand45, on 07/22/2008, -2/+10"As McCain said in 2004 when asked if the U.S. should withdraw if asked by the Iraqi government, “I think it’s obvious that we would have to leave.”"
It's gone from that to saying we should/could/would stay in Iraq for 100 years, despite what the Iraqi government wants? Figures. - Hrodrik, on 07/22/2008, -2/+9I wonder why the US government doesn't want to leave Iraq... I'm sure it couldn't possibly have anything to do with any kind of contracts...
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -2/+8 How come no one mentions either the voter fraud or the media manipulation that got him nominated? He was polling at like 9%, every conservative hated his guts but then within a matter of weeks everyone else is gone and he's the guy. How did that happen? Even Rush Limbaugh hates the guy, I've never met a conservative who liked him. So how is he the nominee? Somethings fishy.
- Ne007, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6I can't think of any sovereign nation anymore....the last vestiges are being attacked from every angle.
David Rockefeller's plan of a one world government is taking hold I'm afraid.... - tjmb9, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6I think the winner-take-all system the GOP uses in the primary had something to do with it. It forced the candidates to bet the majority of their time and money to just a few contests. McCain was broke at the time, so was forced to coast. Then, when each successive candidate underperformed and dropped out, only McCain was left.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 07/22/2008, -1/+7Guys... Everyone knows Maliki is an elitist. He does not understand what the Iraqi people want.
- OC73, on 07/22/2008, -2/+8This debate is pointless. Both candidates have acknowledged that there will be residual forces in Iraq to maintain stability and protect our strategic interests.
- EtherGnat, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5No, you can get sued for libel that way. Try it this way:
'Is John McCain a pedophile?' What? I'm not saying he's a pedophile. I'm just wondering out loud if he is a pedophile. All I'm saying is that reasonable people who have had their kids around McCain can disagree. - cherwilco, on 07/22/2008, -3/+8this guy is starting to genuinely scare me. McCain has proven himself time and time again to be completely incompetent and borderline senile. the only reason this scares me is the fear that he may wind up being our president. I fear that many Americans will vote for this buffoon based only on the fact that he is a republican!
- peticsu, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5well, these foreign policy hawks have operated under this scenario for the past 30 years...
Lebanon
Palestine
and now, Iraq
They always praise democratic elections, but once the people actually vote the story changes. I knew this would happen when Blackwater wasnt kicked out, even after their government suspended their license. - withears, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5Mr. McCain knows what the Iraqis want, but he doesn't know (a) that Czechoslovakia hasn't been a country in a while (he's made this mistake a couple of times now), (b) the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni, and (c) that Iraq and Pakistan don't share a border.
I've had enough dumb in the White House over the last 7+ years to last me a lifetime.
John McAnus - The Third Bush Term. - bruce86, on 07/22/2008, -2/+7 I heard he said mccain is gay too. it was just glossed over in a mistranslation.
- tjmb9, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3Rather than rebut your statement, I'm going to ignore it because you are a terrible speller.
Oh ***** what the hell...
Digg is not a part of the media, don't equate a public message board with the MSM. I hate how many people complain that digg is "biased." Digg has no responsibility to be objective at all. If you would rather join a community of people with more similar opinions to yours then do it, but we are just expressing our opinions here, man. - inactive, on 07/22/2008, -3/+6***** mccain.
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3"How come no one mentions either the voter fraud or the media manipulation that got him nominated? "
Because the media had completely buried him in September. But McCain was willing to go to New Hampshire, and hit EVERY town, speaking in person. Meanwhile, Rudy was running the stupidest campaign in recent history, despite being the media darling.
Add in the repub winner take all, and McCain squeeked out a couple of wins, but took all the delegates.
It wasn't a conspiracy. The media had him buried. The far right conservative base was dwindling. Moderate republicans wanted the right wing Christian crap gone. McCain WORKED for the nomination. - JBmtk, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3but...you see, he IS aware of the internet.
- marabout40, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3Sure we care about the military. That's why we want them the hell home! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/21/iraq-sold ...
- charm803, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3THe problem with politics is we have people like you bitching about libs this, libs that.
It's not about party affiliation, and people who categorize maybe don't deserve to vote based on party affiliations rather than on principle and issues. - inactive, on 07/22/2008, -1/+4Why is this 100% fallacious speculation being dugg up? Voter fraud/media manipulation? Are you kidding me? Sounds like the same piss-poor excuses the paulities used to try and explain why Ron Paul lost "after he won all the straw polls!!!"
Two words: New Hampshire - haterofps3, on 07/22/2008, -2/+5I Thought thats why Iraq's people voted for a leader? Well I guess if it works in America then it must work in Iraq. RIGHT McCAIN!
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3Memories of a goldfish. I know it feels like forever ago, but back in december the media had basically declared McCain's campaign dead.
What happened was BECAUSE McCain was closer to the center than his fellow GOP candidates, he was able to pick up the votes of independents. After winning a few states, none of his opponents were really able to win more than one at a time, so mccain was able to take the momentum to super tuesday where he basically solidified the nomination. - palmer, on 07/22/2008, -3/+6"Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) could care less what the Iraqis want."
Don't you mean COULDN'T care less? - inactive, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2I got nothin'. I didn't think there was a politician dumber and more clueless than Bush, and I'm wrong. Who is handling this poor old man's campaign? The Keystone Cops? Actually, I think McCain is actually in a few episodes of The Keystone Cops.
- arvvvs, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Power has corrupted him.
- kds405, on 07/22/2008, -1/+3Ok. Go live there John McCain. Rebuild hospitals and roads. Dig ditches and help injured children if you know what they really want. They'll love your keen insight which nobody, not even their president, has. We'll make due without you somehow.
- charm803, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2OOOOOOOR-
You could just skip past the links, I think you can see them before you link on them. - KJSatz, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2PS - Obama cuts taxes for people making less than $192000.
- FasterGun, on 07/22/2008, -2/+4There's always Nader. Always.
- charm803, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Let me dumb down my second sentence for you since you didn't understand it:
It's not about being a liberal or a neo-con, and people how make assumptions based on whether a person is a lib or neo con don't derserve to vote, because they aren't voting based on principle and issues.
Maybe you should learn to read and write on a higher level before you start calling ME dumb for something YOU don't understand. - inactive, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2If you could be so kind as to show me how to block content from only the sites of huffingtonpost, thinkprogress, dailykos and rawstory, while still getting other news/election coverage, I'd greatly appreciate it.
- KJSatz, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2What would or should we do if, in the post-June 30th period, a so-called sovereign Iraqi government asks us to leave, even if we are unhappy about the security situation there? I understand it's a hypothetical, but it's at least possible.
McCAIN: Well, if that scenario evolves, then I think it's obvious that we would have to leave because— if it was an elected government of Iraq

- EtherGnat, on 07/22/2008, -1/+3But you have to admit the sarcasm is kind of appropriate when what McCain says goes directly against what Maliki has said, and polls have shows the Iraqi people want.
- SoulGrub, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Too many big words for badnewshotel.
- cherwilco, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2I watched the video you ***** tard and he DID say that HE knows what the Iraqi's want! (paying attention can be tough for people like you huh?)
