- poprocksandsoda, on 10/31/2008, -1/+1How are social programs meant to bridge the gap between losing a job, getting sick or losing your ability to support yourself "spreading the wealth"? That's called taking care of people who can't take care of themselves and giving people a short-term hand. Taxing one working class more than another is socialism. You don't redistribute money from those who worked for it to those unwilling to work; that's socialism. As Thomas Jefferson said:
