- deus199, on 09/30/2008, -9/+75He has done this countless times, yet is still neck-and-neck with Obama in the polls.. Sometimes the people of this country just sicken me.
- Wryly, on 09/30/2008, -10/+53Don't be shy to spread the truth. Send this baby around...
- Deoliver47, on 09/30/2008, -10/+40Make this one viral folks!
- option, on 09/30/2008, -11/+41Republicans in general, McCain included, have been incredibly proud and open about their attempts to deregulate Wall St. Until the past four weeks, that is. The evidence isn't just in this video - it's splashed all over newspaper and television news archives for the past decade.
This is the biggest untold story of the election. - xilduq, on 09/30/2008, -6/+22Don't forget about Phil "We have sort of become a nation of whiners" Gramm, the McCain economic architect, the champion of deregulation of Gramm-Leach-Bliley fame (or better known as how to meltdown Wall St) which also brought us the Enron loophole which brought us exorbitant energy prices.
To McBush, thanks for nothing, John Q. Public - Wosat, on 09/30/2008, -8/+23The financial crisis was caused as much by bad regulation as by deregulation.
Also, Republicans aren't always on the side of deregulation. They tried in 2003 and 2006 to add MORE REGULATION to GSEs like Freddie and Fannie and were blocked by Democrats. See video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p1Wc2NFa3w
Sorry for interrupting with the facts. I'll let you get back to the McCain bash-fest already in progress. - mebethekoko, on 09/30/2008, -7/+22As someone that voted for McCain in the 2000 primaries, this stuff just makes me sad. I don't know who the hell this guy is anymore. And I've a feeling neither does he.
- chosenson, on 09/30/2008, -7/+19Digg it here, but rate the YouTube video as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4egXbhSOhk - MediaWeasel, on 09/30/2008, -6/+17How much more do people need to see that this man does not have a clue about economics or Wall Street, despite his grandstanding and SuperMousing to Washington. And yet he lies straight faced and people lap it up. PAY ATTENTION!!!
- niradg, on 09/30/2008, -3/+14He's not neck-and-neck. Don't let the media narrative fool you. Obama enjoys a 6-8 pt lead, which is pretty large this close to election day.
- egamipeaks, on 09/30/2008, -1/+11This problem is immensely bigger than John McCain, Barack Obama, the Republicans or Democrats. It is about a debt-based financial system that does not work. The debt is finally catching up to us.
- skimikaze, on 09/30/2008, -4/+14Federal Housing Enterprise Reform in 2005. Look it up. McCain, along with several other Republican senators saw this coming. It was struck down by a Party Line Vote from the DEMOCRATS.
Stop getting your information from sound bytes people! This is REAL. If you want a socialist government who controls every aspect of your life, you'll get it with obama. - BlackJackJester, on 09/30/2008, -4/+13You guys realize the Clinton administration helped start this crisis. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0 ...
Before you Democrats go out and proclaim yourselves the bastion of truth and what is right in this world, you need to realize it's your policies that put us where we are today. - jayzfans, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8All John McCain knows is to complain. Now Palin is complaining too.
Stop the drama, vote Obama. - crombenevolant, on 09/30/2008, -1/+9That's a cop out. It is an easy way to blame others for your own failings. Are there some people who might not vote for Obama because he is black, sadly yes. There are also some who won't vote for him because he is a man. There are even some who won't vote for McCain because he is white. Those things do happen.
However, there are a much greater number of people who don't think Obama has enough experience or don't like his policies. To brand anyone who doesn't think Obama would be a good president is racial fear mongering at it's worst. If the racism you claim was really in place, Obama would have never been able to win the nomination. - solboldi, on 09/30/2008, -5/+13Thats not true. McCain tried to add oversight to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. But was blocked by Barney Frank.
http://digg.com/politics/Media_Mum_on_Barney_Frank ... - solboldi, on 09/30/2008, -6/+13Look. McCain tried to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years ago.
That's a fact. Barney Frank blocked the reform efforts then. Its a fact.
http://digg.com/politics/Media_Mum_on_Barney_Frank ... - LooseFur, on 10/01/2008, -2/+9The RePugs have nothing to offer in McCain's defense except his co-sponsoring of Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005.
Trouble is, the bill stayed in the Senate Banking Committee and NEVER MADE IT TO THE SENATE FLOOR FOR A VOTE, so accusing Sen. Obama of helping to kill it is absolute *****. Remember, in 2005, the Senate was in the hands of the GOP. Obama was NOT EVEN on the committee!
Secondly, if John McCain thought the bill was so important, why DIDN'T he support it when it was re-introduced in 2007?
Below is a list of the Senators on the 2005 Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, (109th Congress)
Democrats:
• Paul S. Sarbanes (Md.), Ranking Member
• Christopher Dodd (Conn.)
• Tim Johnson (S.D.)
• Jack Reed (R.I.)
• Chuck Schumer (N.Y.)
• Evan Bayh (Ind.)
• Thomas R. Carper (Del.)
• Debbie Stabenow (Mich.)
• Robert Menendez (N.J.)
Republicans:
• Richard Shelby (Ala.), Chairman
• Robert Bennett (Utah)
• Wayne Allard (Colo.)
• Mike Enzi (Wyo.)
• Chuck Hagel (Neb.)
• Rick Santorum (Pa.)
• Jim Bunning (Ky.)
• Mike Crapo (Idaho)
• John E. Sununu (N.H.)
• Elizabeth Dole (N.C.)
• Mel Martinez (Fla.)
The final verdict? Yet ANOTHER RePug MYTH! - solboldi, on 09/30/2008, -2/+9You guys are correct. Its Barney Frank that was the roadblock to reforming Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, two years ago.
http://digg.com/politics/Media_Mum_on_Barney_Frank ... - Thater, on 09/30/2008, -0/+7I believe he's referring to the Gallup poll which has a ±2% margin of error.
- lunarspore, on 09/30/2008, -1/+8McCain's corruption is obvious to us, but the people who will still vote for him are those who may only pay attention to the republican controlled mainstream media. If we really want to get the word out, it has to spread beyond the internet. Join Obama's campaign and make some calls!
- loganro, on 09/30/2008, -2/+9Facts are not welcomed here dan.
- bestsoccerdog, on 09/30/2008, -4/+11Is this the same poster who said that Bush caused Katrina?
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -8/+15Democrats and their burning desire to handout houses to people who can't afford them caused this.

- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -0/+6Anyone else noticed a severe drop in the number of Pro McCain posts on Digg lately? I wonder if his former supporters are beginning to see how much of a disaster his campaign is?
Anyone but McCain/Palin 08!!! - peg1, on 09/30/2008, -4/+10if the democrats were totally responsible for the current crisis then why, eight years later, haven't the Republicans fixed it? They were in control of the house and senate from 1/95 until 1/07 and in the White House since 2001. What does that say about the Republicans' willingness (not to mention the DLC dems) to stand up and take responsibility?
- GeeksSpeakFont, on 09/30/2008, -9/+15oh dear god mccain needs to shut his stupid trap about the economy.
- tunit000, on 09/30/2008, -2/+8It doesn't matter anyways the election is rigged. Watch for a 49/51 percent win for Mcain.
- skimikaze, on 09/30/2008, -11/+16Federal Housing Enterprise Reform in 2005. Look it up. McCain, along with several other Republican senators saw this coming. It was struck down by a Party Line Vote from the DEMOCRATS.
Stop getting your information from sound bytes people! This is REAL. If you want a socialist government who controls every aspect of your life, you'll get it with obama. - MindyB, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5It is clear that the log cabin gops are idiots who put their party ahead of the interests of their own communities. Palin has been trying very hard to deny equal health care benefits to domestic partners, despite a court ruling indicating that denying these benefits was unconstitutional (in Alaska). As of July, 2008, she has vowed to continue the fight against granting said benefits.
Aside from that, she is an idiot! She can't even form a cogent sentence! McCain has never been pro glbt rights--just like he has never been pro-women's rights either. He has voted against every bill introduced that supports women's rights, including the Crime Prevention bill that included a strong Domestic Violence Prevention section, as well as the National Domestic Violence Hot line act. Both of them are monsters and idiots. Anybody voting for them will be voting against their own interests. - mythicflux, on 09/30/2008, -1/+6DMCA, NAFTA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 were all signed into effect by Bill Clinton.
Those bills alone have already done far more damage than we probably realize. The sad truth is that Clinton started the problem, Bush's stupidity just made it worse. - macdoodle, on 09/30/2008, -7/+12WELL, LOG CABIN GOPS ARE CALLING PALIN "MODERATE."
AND SAY McCAIN'S STICKING UP FRO GLBT RIGHTS.
The NEO-CON takeover of the GOP is complete
i got their slogan for them..
" Pride in Propganda even the KGB would be jealous of"
Extremists -what can you expect? - bestsoccerdog, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5When there's a 4 percent margin of error, that could mean that Obama has a 2-4% lead, or a 10-12% lead, so start celebrating now and see what happens.
- mjovic, on 09/30/2008, -2/+7McCain is neck and neck in the polls because the polls are fixed to give the illusion of a close race. This has been documented.
- facelesscoward, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5SpankkBankk, Obama currently has a 6-point lead in Gallup, Rasmussen, and Hotline/FD Tracking as well as the most recent Fox News poll.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/presi ...
Yesterday, his lead in Gallup was 8 points. The RealClearPolitics average puts Obama at +5.1% (+4.4% with Barr and Nader, but those polls aren't taken nearly as frequently). In the past week or so, Obama has also seen a surge in electoral votes.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama ...
That's not to say we can just sit and count on the American people to elect him on the basis that the past eight years have sucked. We need to remind them that the Bush administration has been torturing, wiretapping, propagandizing, and otherwise blowing up the executive branch to enormous proportions, and McCain either was with him on every issue or fell in line at some point, barring maybe torture. We need to remind them that McCain supported a preemptive war that killed and injured many thousands of people and displaced a lot more. - CCB0x45, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Obama is ahead in the polls, do you mean more ahead?
The only poll ive seen him behind is drudge report... and come on. - inactive, on 09/30/2008, -4/+8Any moment now this thread will be flooded with ignorant Repugs blaming the poor and the CRA for the economic problems.
They love to ignore the greed of lenders, and lack of oversight that really created all of this. - ohokyeah, on 09/30/2008, -2/+6Yes, Clinton signed this into law, but at the time it was a Republican majority in Congress. Both parties have part in the blame.
- eagee, on 09/30/2008, -1/+5I don't think that's true. I've listened to interviews of Democrats in Ohio who aren't voting for Obama for "Reasons they don't want to mention on TV". Racism still exists and affects our political process, to deny that would be a practice in ignorance. I will give you this though, public opinion has shifted radically in the past 60 years - and this could be a major turning point in the way minorities perceive their role in the country.
- jayll, on 09/30/2008, -2/+6His supporters will believe anything he says at the moment.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -4/+8I think there needs to be more McCain bashing articles on Digg. There's only 3 or 4 on the front page right now.
(buried) - ouzome, on 09/30/2008, -1/+4The Democrats ***** blocked the reform of Fanny and Freddie three years ago.
- elitedw, on 09/30/2008, -2/+5And Bush can't fix the war he started...
But some people still won't put two and two together - jakatak, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3I have stopped reading Digg lately for that reason. I hate politics. I hate Digg being one sided even more. This happens all day long. Digg used to be fun.
- TPorter72, on 10/02/2008, -0/+3He probably does what his advisors tell him
- barktwiggs, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3I guess it's his fault as well that nearly 40% of Dems also didn't vote for the 700 Billion...
- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3Birdie, you're old enough to know better than to go around labeling people as Evil. I am far from "stupid", and far from "uneducated". Finger pointing and name calling makes you look yourself look uneducated and stupid.
- Charlotte_Web, on 09/30/2008, -1/+4Actually, Clinton is largely to blame for the sub-prime mortgage mess. In 1995, he changed the rules on a Carter-era law that forced mortgage lenders to lend more to lower income folks:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Reinvestmen ...
Sure, the Republicans share some blame... but it was the Republicans who were trying since at least 2002 to fix the problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and it was the Democrats who were saying that there was nothing to wrong with them, and fought against any investigation into corruption, mismanagement, and faulty practices.
