- drlarrymitchell, on 09/25/2008, -5/+71More straight talk from the idiot supreme.
- TheNinjaJesus, on 09/25/2008, -5/+66Ha ha, fooled you guys. It's opposite day!
- craighoxton, on 09/26/2008, -3/+57Dugg for Larry and Balki
- flipmoe, on 09/26/2008, -5/+55How shockingly unsurprising.
- avataros, on 09/25/2008, -5/+37I believe it. No one gets paid while the campaign's suspended, so that means that the ones left working are the true believers, the kool-aid drinkers.
- gwolf, on 09/26/2008, -4/+32As I watched the news last evening, just as they began to speak about how McCain was suspending his campaign, the phone rang. Can you guess who it was? I politely listened to the monotone speaker unleash a 45 second single sentence.
I couldn't really follow it but it was punctuated with the buzz words and phrases that seemed to be pasted together from the notes of a half dozen focus groups.
I politely broke in the explain that I really wasn't a McCain supporter and his response was a dial tone. No attempt to change my mind or make his case. These people seem to be preaching to the converted, they don't really have any cogent arguments. There are many reasons not to support the policies that got us where we are today, but they seem to only want to try to appeal to the worst in people and that's reason enough for me to not support them, even if there were no others. - chrissku, on 09/26/2008, -2/+30The Perfect Strangers picture kind of pulls this story together.
Obama/Biden 08 12 - madjoyish, on 09/26/2008, -3/+23Not as ridiculous as McCain somehow managing to - while not campaigning, and only dealing with the very serious economic crisis, and far too busy to appear on Letterman - interview with Katie Couric. Nice gimmick attempt, McCain. Even more voters than usual can see through your transparently political efforts. Let the people who know what they're doing deal with the economic crisis - like the Democrats.
- kelstock, on 09/26/2008, -5/+22Old people need a nap sometimes - I'm sure when the world has problems and McCain needs another nap Jintao, Putin, Medvedev, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and Bin Laden will all agree to suspend too.
- meese, on 09/26/2008, -0/+16False:
"Readers in Iowa and Wisconsin emailed to say that they saw seen McCain ads on the air this morning, though he's said he's taking them down." [Politico, 9/25/08]
"Aside from the trip to Washington, the suspension seems not to take in fundraising or surrogates attacking Obama on television, and the ads haven't come down all that speedily. A reader reports seeing on in the Tampa area at 12:45 this afternoon." [Politico, 9/25/08]
"In the five hours after McCain's speech, aides Nancy Pfotenhauer, Tucker Bounds, and Mike Duhaime appeared on Fox News and MSNBC five times, frequently criticizing Obama and Democrats." [Think Progress, 9/25/08]
"Despite McCain's claim that he's put his campaign on hold, two of them directly attacked Barack Obama in political terms on television this morning." [TPM, 9/25/08]
etc. - wheresjim, on 09/26/2008, -1/+17RTFA - they still are running ads in key states. His involvement with today's meeting was quite lame - his presence unnecessary. It's a gimmick and if Obama did it you would be calling him out for it as we are doing McCain.
Worst case scenario - it isn't a gimmick and he really panics like this when the heat is on, in which case he is completely unfit to be president. - jimrin, on 09/26/2008, -0/+16McCain may be starting his operations again, but one area which is still suspended is Sarah Palin...
Especially after interviews like this: http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Sarah_Palin_vs_K ...
I'm sure the McCain campaign must've given her talking points about Russia. It looks like she froze, forgot all about them, and just started to make things up. I'm sure he had choice words to Palin about her performance... - meese, on 09/26/2008, -0/+14McCain said his *campaign* was suspended. Not that everything in his campaign would continue and he alone would not hold any events.
In either case, he lied, because he and his campaign staff continued campaigning. - chicoer2001, on 09/26/2008, -4/+17It was suspended. That's why all the surrogates were on TV.
- IneedaSN, on 09/26/2008, -3/+15way to be a duchebag mccain
- iPoodOverZune, on 09/26/2008, -4/+16What else did you expect from this hypocrite liar.
- heystoopid, on 09/26/2008, -1/+13but he was a pow !/s
- AriaStar, on 09/26/2008, -3/+14A case of the incompetent leading the stupid. Only someone stupid would vote for this incompetent *****.
Seriously, if he can't multi-task, "work on the economy" while campaigning, how should we trust his "ability" to fight a bunch of wars, tackle the economy, deal with natural disaster, etc.? Is he going to magically "suspend" economic troubles and tell a disaster to wait a few more years?
We all know this is just a case of a kid complaining of a belly ache to get out of taking a test he didn't study for. Only this is supposed to be a grown man and a two-hour-or-so presidential debate. - VicHislop, on 09/26/2008, -2/+13jaycalgary buried.
(See how stupid it is to make a comment like that?) - CCB0x45, on 09/26/2008, -0/+10masaks well the difference is HuffPo openly admits they are site with liberal bias(they are a site for democratic news and opinions).
Fox News calls themselves fair and balanced. - enclaved, on 09/26/2008, -0/+10What kind of retard writes off one source, that cites several others?

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/mc ... - hurtmetomysoul, on 09/26/2008, -1/+10I wish he'd suspend it for good.
- enantiodromia, on 09/26/2008, -0/+9what does "campaign" mean?
oh right, here it is: "An operation or series of operations energetically pursued to accomplish a purposes"
so he didn't really suspend anything, except your disbelief - AriaStar, on 09/26/2008, -1/+10We all know he's a liar, so the campaign is still on. So they're still getting paid. Some of those poor fools didn't even know that he had "stopped" his campaign.
- 64bit, on 09/26/2008, -0/+8This makes the whole "suspending the campaign" thing seem like a cheap ploy. But I do have to say that the economic and political situation with all these bills kind of requires McCain to vote.
For example, if McCain doesn't vote for the $700 billion package (or whatever it happens to be now), and the Democrats do, McCain could use this to say that he won't bail out companies that make bad decisions and waste taxpayer money. Democrats would be much more hesitant to sign the bill based on political grounds. On the other hand, if he does vote for the bill, the Democrats will likely vote for the bill.
This is quite an interesting situation McCain is in now. - digitalagent, on 09/26/2008, -1/+9"As of today I will be suspending my campaign. Country first! Maverick!"
Reporter: "Mr. McCain how do you suspend your campaign and then go to Washington where a deal is reached in principle, derail the deal and suggest that you are making progress and not using the greatest financial crisis in this country since the Great Depression for your own political gain?"
McCain: "Hey look, a shiny penny! Does everyone see the shiny penny?!"
COURIC: "But he's been in Congress for 26 years. He's been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more."
PALIN: "He's also known as the maverick though..."
COURIC: "I'm just going to ask you one more time, not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation?"
PALIN: "I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you. Katie look! A shiny penny! Do you see the shiny penny?!" - belebih, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7FTA: In Ashland County, Ohio, a McCain worker named Ken confirmed, "We're still campaigning for him." He added, "I'm taking off in two hours. A Japanese couple will be watching the shop after, but they're very anglocized."
Translation: "Yeah, we're still campaigning. Hell, we even have foreigners doing our work for us, but don't worry. We have 'em housebroken. They're not terrorists or nothin'." - meese, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7He's a fully functional adult, just not someone who has the judgment or temperament to be president.
- enclaved, on 09/26/2008, -1/+8You're so funny.
- jimrin, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7Did you even watch the video? "Gotcha" questions? The question in this video was why her close proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience... It had nothing to do with McCain or any other Republican leaders...
- snotrokit, on 09/26/2008, -1/+8Larry/Balki 08!!!!!
- enantiodromia, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7i love to read through your history and see all the ignorance and homophobia. i do it every now and then to feel better about myself.
it's almost like reading the Bible, because it has just as much craziness as it does conflicting statements. - jimrin, on 09/26/2008, -0/+6Ooops, link is here: http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Sarah_Palin_vs_K ...
- cadmiumpaint, on 09/26/2008, -0/+6McCain came out and said at a press conference that he was suspending his campaign, including pulling all ads, stopping fundraising etc etc.
this makes him a bold faced liar. - charlietuna, on 09/26/2008, -0/+6While I would not dare to question Dubya's claims to being the idiot supreme, I will agree that the days of straight talk are long gone.
- piradians, on 09/26/2008, -0/+6"There are plenty of banks still available, and their business will boom as a result."
You obviously don't understand the nature of the crisis. Your opinion is invalid. - meese, on 09/26/2008, -1/+7There's this little problem of a Bush veto they had to deal with, never mind the fact that the only way the Democrats had a majority in the senate is if you count Lieberman.
- CCB0x45, on 09/26/2008, -0/+6Yea.. he did mention he wasn't going to run any ads... do the ads work in congress too?
- AgahniMalebogia, on 09/26/2008, -1/+7http://www.youtube.com/v/8vbnLYROCj8&hl=en&fs=1
A timeless classic. - ElectricRebel, on 09/26/2008, -2/+7Doing science is rather difficult without a stable government.
Just ask all of those physicists from the former Soviet Union.
I think we are focused on the right thing given that our financial system is collapsing and half of America wants to vote in someone that thinks the world is only 6000 years old. - inactive, on 09/26/2008, -1/+6"gotcha" questions.. from Katie Couric...?? It is to laugh. The chick only lobs softballs.
If Palin finds it hard to answer questions from Couric, she is ***** pathetic. Even hardline conservatives find that interview painful to watch, she's so bad. - inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5Your desperation can be detected from space.
- duckley, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5McCain is clearly stalling the bailout talks to try to cancel the Biden-Palin debate.
If Palin is totally incompetent with Katie Couric, just imagine how she'll compare to Joe Biden.
McCain is HOLDING AMERICA HOSTAGE by sabotaging the bailout talks ! - enclaved, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5Don't tell me what to do, bitch.
- apraxia, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5A fully functional adult? He can't lift his arms above his head, and I seriously doubt he can have an erection. Well, maybe he could it up for his soulmate running-mate.
- enantiodromia, on 09/26/2008, -1/+6WHAT DOES THE WORD CAMPAIGN MEAN
this isn't difficult. if he meant to say "i am taking time off the campaign trail to get some work done", he could have said that, but the news story was "MCCAIN SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN TO GO TO WASHINGTON". - Tarl, on 09/26/2008, -1/+6And I can't believe the ***** that comes out of McCain's mouth.
- meese, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5"But did anyone really think that his "campaign team" would have the next few days off?"
Well, the problem is that the Wolf Blitzers of the world really believed it, or pretended to on TV, anyway. - inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5You're so riled up by this you're posting multiple times in the same thread. Seems like you're a bit panicked.
Just like McCain. -
