McCain Campaign *Still Active* Across The Country

huffingtonpost.com — Across the country, McCain campaign offices are up and running, accepting volunteers, conducting phone banking, literature dropping and other GOTV activities. This held true on a local, state, and even regional level. Of a sample of 15 McCain-Palin campaign offices across the nation, not one said that it was temporarily halting operations.

    I couldn't really follow it but it was punctuated with the buzz words and phrases that seemed to be pasted together from the notes of a half dozen focus groups.
    I politely broke in the explain that I really wasn't a McCain supporter and his response was a dial tone. No attempt to change my mind or make his case. These people seem to be preaching to the converted, they don't really have any cogent arguments. There are many reasons not to support the policies that got us where we are today, but they seem to only want to try to appeal to the worst in people and that's reason enough for me to not support them, even if there were no others.

Nice gimmick attempt, McCain. Even more voters than usual can see through your transparently political efforts. Let the people who know what they're doing deal with the economic crisis - like the Democrats.

  • wheresjim, on 09/26/2008, -1/+17RTFA - they still are running ads in key states. His involvement with today's meeting was quite lame - his presence unnecessary. It's a gimmick and if Obama did it you would be calling him out for it as we are doing McCain.

    Worst case scenario - it isn't a gimmick and he really panics like this when the heat is on, in which case he is completely unfit to be president.

    Seriously, if he can't multi-task, "work on the economy" while campaigning, how should we trust his "ability" to fight a bunch of wars, tackle the economy, deal with natural disaster, etc.? Is he going to magically "suspend" economic troubles and tell a disaster to wait a few more years?

    We all know this is just a case of a kid complaining of a belly ache to get out of taking a test he didn't study for. Only this is supposed to be a grown man and a two-hour-or-so presidential debate.

  • 64bit, on 09/26/2008, -0/+8This makes the whole "suspending the campaign" thing seem like a cheap ploy. But I do have to say that the economic and political situation with all these bills kind of requires McCain to vote.

    For example, if McCain doesn't vote for the $700 billion package (or whatever it happens to be now), and the Democrats do, McCain could use this to say that he won't bail out companies that make bad decisions and waste taxpayer money. Democrats would be much more hesitant to sign the bill based on political grounds. On the other hand, if he does vote for the bill, the Democrats will likely vote for the bill.

    This is quite an interesting situation McCain is in now.
