- SheilaNoya, on 09/05/2008, -7/+218McCain doesn't want anyone to unwrap the pretty package he just delivered. We might find out that's it's just an empty box.
- klhammy, on 09/05/2008, -5/+152Hmm...I wonder what they're trying to hide. Maybe they're worried she'll insult community organizers again. Now that's how you energize the other team's base!
- LemonHerb, on 09/05/2008, -2/+136So she can't handle the press but they expect us to believe she can handle the massive problems she would have to deal with as VP? No thanks.
- alapoet, on 09/05/2008, -6/+130The more Palin talks, the more donations pour into the Obama campaign.
After her RNC speech, the Republican party got $1 million in donations... and the Democrats got $8 MILLION. - barblibrarian, on 09/05/2008, -1/+92In the United States of America the representatives of the people are expected to communicate with the people. They are expected to answer the questions of the people. They are expected to let the people know where they stand and what they are thinking on the major issues of the day. This is what we value as United States citizens. Dictators do not communicate with their people. Criminals do not open up and identify their plans. Someone who is attempting to hide their true self from the people who could choose not to vote for them do not speak to the people. The press IS the people. When they choose not to speak to the media, they are thumbing their noses at US. How can the members of the Republican party allow this? Are they so desperate for a win that they will not even ask the questions themselves? Guess what folks, this is how you elect despots into office! If you don't know who you are electing, you get what you deserve. You Republicans are totally out of your minds if you think this is the best thing for your country. What was it you were saying over the last few days - Country First?!!! Yeah ---- Right!! As a liberal Democrat, I ain't lettin Obama and Biden get away with this kind of garbage!! They better be answering my questions up front and in front of the press. I hate Bill O'Reilly with a passion, but I want him asking Obama questions. I can't stand George Will. But, I want him talking to my candidates. Rush Limbaugh is a joke, but I want him to challenge Obama and Biden. That's the American way!!! Get the dirt out and on the table. Let me decide how I want to vote with every piece of information available to me. Don't hide your butt away from MY PRESS!!! I say HOW DARE YOU!!!!!
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -3/+85So much for the Straight Talk Express. Just another empty campaign slogan from an empty suit, with empty promises.
The McCain campaign is a disgrace to the men and woman fighter the two wars he helpn start. - louiebaur, on 09/05/2008, -1/+82Keep her talking!
- hawkeye17, on 09/05/2008, -3/+60They're afraid of what she'll say she believes in lol. This lady is farther to the Right than Attila the Hun and that won't play well with Independents who will decide this election.
- cici102, on 09/05/2008, -1/+56she and mcsame are quite a pair and no matter what dribble comes out of mcsame's mouth = bush junior.
this is further proof. thumbing his nose at anyone and anything - "we can do what we want"
who wrote palins speech for her - former bushies
who is helping with her foreign policy (lord knows she needs it!) - former bushies - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -2/+57I'm sure she'll do a nice puff piece on Fox. Something safe where the Bushies can provide her with the questions and answers beforehand.
- keigwyn, on 09/05/2008, -3/+49What are McCain and Palin going to say when a foreign leader has tough questions? Is this the kind of leadership we deserve? It seems too much like the backroom dealing and shadow corporate control of the last 8 years of the Bush administration.
I think he's afraid Palin's thin facade is flaking, and that her narrative as an everyday "hockey-mom" is going to tarnish if she opens her mouth without a teleprompter to keep her on message. - paintgrl, on 09/06/2008, -2/+47What, you mean the Republicans are trying to hide something and cover their tracks?
I can't believe it.
Just for all you crazy Neo-con Evangelical wing nuts who are going to call me a liberal,
Here is the definition of what you think is a dirty word..lol
liberalism
Main Entry: lib·er·al·ism
Pronunciation: ˈli-b(ə-)rə-ˌli-zəm
Function: noun
Date: 1819
1: the quality or state of being liberal
2 aoften capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b: a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard c: a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties dcapitalized : the principles and policies of a Liberal party
— lib·er·al·ist -b(ə-)rə-list noun or adjective
— lib·er·al·is·tic ˌli-b(ə-)rə-ˈlis-tik adjective
CALL ME A LIBERAL!!!!! - SheilaNoya, on 09/05/2008, -3/+47What do you mean "nothing left to hide"? Scandals aside, no one knows where she stands on many important issues. Why are they hiding THAT?
We have a right to question Sarah Palin and see what she believes and what her policies are. I'm not going to accept another "just trust me" from the Republicans after seeing what they've given us in the past. - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -2/+42What makes you think she could tear up any liberal interviewer?
Mooseburgers?
The deficit from her time as mayor?
The charges of abuse of her position?
The bullying of her employees?
Failing in teaching her daughter about sex and condemning the girl to early motherhood?
Her inability to address the issues?
Uh, it's not sexist to judge someone by their words and actions.
The fact that you rightards claim that evaluating someone running for office as sexist just shows how frightened you are of having any tough questions asked.
OH, you are so stupid you think that they are keeping her away from interviews out of fear for the INTERVIEWER.
LOL
You are so full of *****.
Hey, if you are such a GOP lover you MUST have enlisted to fight in the wars they started, right?
To believe right wing rhetoric and to NOT enlist means you are a coward. - GoKings, on 09/06/2008, -2/+38I wonder how Papa Bear Bill O' Reilly will respond to this one, where he mentioned on todays show how Palin must meet the press and until then we can't pass judgment on her.
- kmom5, on 09/06/2008, -2/+37This is utterly wrong. They expect the American people to blindly trust they made the right decision and leave it at that. They expect Americans to vote for them, put them in the most powerful positions in the country, and we can't even get straight answers from them now?
The only conclusion that I can draw is that they know that she isn't able to answer reporters questions in a way that would make them look good-yet. They are not going to let her do any interviews until they get through prepping her.
So, can we assume that this is the way they would run their administration if afforded the chance? Just shut up and do as we tell you to? Wow. What kind of change is that?
I shudder to think what kind of ***** storm the democrats would face if they took this position. Why are republicans not facing it?
Why won't they face the American people? - johnnr2, on 09/06/2008, -2/+35I'm sure she'll be available to FAUX news at some point.
- pintomp3, on 09/06/2008, -0/+32i wish she was just an empty box. she is a backwards religious nutjob on the level of pat robertson. book burning? seriously?
- keigwyn, on 09/05/2008, -0/+31It upped to 10 million within 24 hrs. :D
- twiztidsinz, on 09/05/2008, -1/+30"I'm not going to accept another "just trust me" from the Democrats after seeing what they've given us in the past."
Oh man... Its a great thing that we've had 8 years of Republicans to really make this country shine then huh? - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -4/+32Seriously people. Palin is now hiding from the American people.
Do you comprehend that?
The Vice Presidential nominee for the United Staes is hiding from the American people.
This is a ***** disgrace to our country.
***** you McCain, the 4200 dead soldiers deserve more from your bloody hands! - USArugula, on 09/06/2008, -1/+27Nah, they're not worried about the insults. They're just giving her a crash course on the world outside Alaska.
- mikesoba, on 09/06/2008, -2/+28McCain won't talk to softball Larry and she won't talk to any press. A couple of cowards hiding from the American people.
- mikelieman, on 09/06/2008, -0/+22She's a failure -- as a Christian Mother and as a Career Woman.
Her inability to balance her political and financial ambitions prevented her from properly counselling her oldest daughter, who is now just another unwed pregnant teen.
She spent SIX YEARS at FIVE SCHOOLS earning a B.A. degree in freaking Communications.
She's a Trophy VP to match McCain's Trophy Wife. - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -2/+24Plenty of vetting of Obama and his past associates. Do some reading and you'll see it all amounted to nothing.
- barblibrarian, on 09/05/2008, -0/+22The "press be damned" is the same thing as saying "the people be damned". The press ask the questions for the people. How else do we get answers? Idiot!!
- jdefloris, on 09/05/2008, -0/+21Doesn't stop her from talking to the press. You do that when a) you are afraid, b) you are a fascist.
Hm. - themonkman, on 09/06/2008, -0/+20But she agreed to say it, so she owns it now. I would never, under any circumstances, ever say something I didn't agree with. That's because of my personal values and morals. I'd have to assume that anyone running for the VP of the USA should hold those same values, and as such if they say something, it's because they agree with it and mean what they say.
- DD2CC2U, on 09/06/2008, -1/+20Palin is so inept that the McCain staff is worried what she might say.
- spookyttws, on 09/06/2008, -2/+21I think she could do a lot of damage to the carefully crafted image they want us to see her as if she's left to her own devices. But one thing is clear, they're doing everything they can to win this thing. Apparently the Republican party liked Obama's message of change so much that they recently decide to co opt it.I said this before and I'll say it again, this new strategy reminds me of "O Brother Where Art Thou?":
Junior O'Daniel: "Well' he's the reform candidate, Daddy."
Pappy O"Daniel: "Yeah."
Junior O'Daniel: "A lot of people like that reform. Maybe we should get us some."
Pappy O"Daniel: "I'll reform you, you soft-headed son of a bitch. How we gonna run reform when we're the damn incumbent? Is that the best idea you boys can come up with? Reform?! Weepin' jesus on the cross. That's it! You may as well start drafting my concession speech right now." - lopla, on 09/06/2008, -1/+20She's ready to lead the most powerful nation on Earth -but no media interviews please, that.. she can't handle.
- aookay, on 09/06/2008, -1/+20Awesome. So, media shame on you for digging for information about Ms Palin, that's sexist! Except you know, it's the same thing that obama went through for the length of the primaries, but who cares about that guy, he's part of the eastern elite! So now, we are going to take away your ability to talk to her, while punishing you for talking about her. Great, we don't need to know anything about a potential future VP anyways.
This is sad, what happened to straight talk, and her being "the only one with a backbone, a fighter, and a pit bull"?. - mikelieman, on 09/06/2008, -2/+20Sarah Palin believes the earth is less than 10,000 years old, and that we shouldn't tell teenagers to use condoms to prevent the accidental pregnancy of unwed teens.
She's not qualified for a SCHOOL BOARD.
But she is a very pretty nitwit, though. - allnone, on 09/06/2008, -0/+18The VP doesn't do too much, but when you have a man that's 72 yrs old and had previous health conditions. I'm not banking on him being around too long in a job that stressful, unless he does what Bush did and play golf all day.
- pintomp3, on 09/06/2008, -2/+19she might start calling obama sambo again.
- paintgrl, on 09/06/2008, -1/+18liberalism

I am glad to be a liberal. - amoirae, on 09/06/2008, -1/+17Something's been in that box. I think it's been reused one time too many.
- farTart, on 09/06/2008, -3/+19Choosing a VP is like getting married. Marry in haste, repent at leisure
http://ronaldmccainald.com/show/00000157
Though I'm not sure that McCain knows the meaning of repent... - GoKings, on 09/06/2008, -2/+18I'm voting for Obama (mainly because I really hate McCain) but money or not she has sadly brought in votes to the incredibly gullible and stupid American people. Polls have Obama and McCain back in a tie.
- JohnnySoftware, on 09/06/2008, -1/+17She is running as half the ticket. How can she not speak to the press?
She is going to make speeches and not answer questions?
Have not heard of a politician ducking the press while they were campaigning, though several have done it for a period of months after they were elected. Has it happened before?
It would be an interesting method of running for an elected office, if it worked.
I suppose she could have a PR spokesman speak on her behalf and answer questions for her. Is this Rick Davis guy speaking on behalf of her campaign or is he just offering his opinion?
It seems like when you get a spokesman in between the press and a politician, it gets confusing whose opinions, beliefs, and plans you are getting - the spokesman's or the politician's, right? - luseton, on 09/06/2008, -0/+16Or maybe she might accidentally ask the reporters what the job of a VP of United States is.
- barblibrarian, on 09/05/2008, -1/+16Give me a break!! She would tear up any interviewer!? You are out of your mind. These people have been interviewing polticians their whole lives. Since when have you gotten to know Palin? Our founding fathers intended the press to be a very active part of our government. Since you and I can't sit down and talk to our candidates directly or our President or VP once they are elected, the press are working for US!! They need to have access to these people, because their access is OUR access. If they can't get answers from these people, neither can we. Only an idiot would cheer on a politician refusing to speak to the press. It's the same thing as not speaking to their constituents. Man - it is so obvious that the stupid people are voting Republican this year!!
- Reynardine, on 09/06/2008, -0/+15McCain is not running a campaign based on facts of any sort. He's trying to build an image ("McCain MAVERICK! OBAMA ELITIST! FOUR LEGS GOOD! TWO LEGS BAD!"), and that image unfortunately crumples to the ground whenever his VP opens her mouth.
It's not going to work. McCain publicly insulted the MSM for vetting Palin. He no longer has 100% good press so he can't dodge the questions forever. - Saikou, on 09/06/2008, -1/+16Yes, they should hold those same values, but the don’t. McCain is being handled and so is McPalin. What I find really funny, however, is that the most of the tools attending the GOP convention had never even heard of Palin before she was announced has the GOP VP pick, but they defended her like she was the second coming. Palin’s lack of education, her lack of experience, her screwed up family life, and her ethics problems should have been a deal breaker for the GOP faithful, since by picking her, McCain’s puppet masters are basically spitting in their faces. They want the GOP to believe that in the whole of the Republican party, Palin is the best VP choice? Really? My feeling is they have intentionally picked a weak candidate, who, like McCain, is in way over her head, and can thus be lead. A good puppet is someone who isn’t smart enough to know they don’t know what they are doing, so they surround themselves with “advisors” who make them feel like they are on the ball. Palin knows she doesn’t have what it takes to be VP deep down perhaps, but instead of acknowledging that fact, she spits out a speech written for her, takes credit for it herself, then acts like no one will notice her failings. Palin is no HRC, so the heat of the spotlight is going to burn her up. All it is going to take is for her to flub a simple college level question about political leaders or Israel or even the war talking points, and she’ll fall apart on stage. The McCain camp knows this, so they want to keep her out of venues where her ignorance and pettiness is exposed to the light of day.
- themonkman, on 09/06/2008, -0/+15The sexist Left? Isn't that an oxymoron? The GOP has always been the Good Ole Boys club as long as I've been a member of it.
- EastBury, on 09/06/2008, -0/+15" "Here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country!"
Guess what: she's actually doing that."
She didn't even serve the people of Wasilla, when she was mayor. She was absent a lot, and left an "administrator" in charge as he deputy.
If she will easily fail serving 5,000 people, what bigger failure will she provide to 300 million? - DD2CC2U, on 09/06/2008, -2/+17Now there is talk that McCain is trying to hide the corruption charges against Palin in Alaska. McCain is trying to get the head of the investigation removed and put in place his own people. McCain is just like Bush. Corruption! McCain is corrupt and bought and paid for. More of the same with McCain!
- andersan, on 09/06/2008, -0/+15I'm still amazed that Fox News and the Republicans turned "liberal" into a naughty four letter word.
- Moetownslick, on 09/06/2008, -1/+15and where he ***** SHINED, i might add.
do any of us seriously believe if Palin sits down with Olbermann, she'll be able to take the tough questions?
Right....me neither. - pintomp3, on 09/06/2008, -0/+14he will keep saying that. as long as she doesn't meet the press, we are not allowed to pass any judgements. speaking of which, i miss tim russert. he would have really held her feet to the fire.
