- crazyvermonter, on 10/09/2008, -4/+63if McCain knows how to get Osama bin Laden why hasn't he shared it with the President? I thought that he put country first???
- Paulish, on 10/10/2008, -7/+45Ummmm, who else is gonna foot the bill? Tax payers ALWAYS foot the bill. ALWAYS.
Yeah, and there is no such thing as thing a taxing corporations "excess profits" btw. They just pass those taxes right on to the customer :)
My point is, maybe if you stop sucking Obama's ***** for a moment you would realize that he would have you pay for the bail out also.
Both of candidates are terrible. Sorry. - Shipyaad, on 10/10/2008, -1/+38um... doesn't a bailout mean by definition that the taxpayers will be footing the bill?
- lncb2u, on 10/09/2008, -10/+32Thank you Tampa for shining light on the darkness of the McCain/Palin ticket -- our times are too challenging to have the likes of Sarah Palin or McCain wielding power via their fragmented minds. Seems everything move McCain has made thus far has been a failure, especially the pick of Sarah Palin, and those who are open-minded, possess critical thinking skills, the type needed to save our country, know it!
- scabbers, on 10/10/2008, -3/+23His plan for getting Osama involves a helicopter, a rifle and Sarah Palin.
- kolinkoolface2, on 10/10/2008, -0/+18uhh anytime you use a bailout or borrow from the FED, you are essentially using tax dollars that have been put there by tax payers...? Both McCain and Obama supported the bailouts... taxpayers will always flip the bill as long as there are such things as "bailouts"
- itswhatson, on 10/09/2008, -3/+20Kinda looks like blackmail, if you think about it. Give him the presidency, he'll give us bin Laden.
- Olon97, on 10/09/2008, -2/+18I would rather have a job, thanks.
- V0lk, on 10/10/2008, -0/+16someone explain to me the difference between THIS McCain plan, and the complaint from the right-wingers that Obama would be a socialist who puts everyone on welfare? (because I DO hear that remark a lot....'oh, I can't wait until Obama is President, so I can go on welfare too). We ALL pay for EVERYTHING, in the end.....it either ends up in our taxes or the defecit.
- bobnbob, on 10/09/2008, -7/+23The fundamentals of the McCain campaign are NOT strong.
I watched the debate and wondered "where is he walking to?", "why hasn't John caught binLaden yet then?", "how is he going to buy off all the bad mortgages?", "when did John McCain become a Socialist?"
I'm still wondering. And the Palin pick - I don't think John McCain had a say in that pick. He cannot condone her actions. Unless he's totally given up on his country. Maybe his campaign slogan should be "John First" - inactive, on 10/10/2008, -9/+23Apparently, under obambi, the money will just fall from the sky.
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2008, -8/+21Obama has a cult like following of brainwashed sheep.
- dizilbdog, on 10/10/2008, -0/+12Doesn't matter republican democrat obama or mcain we are "All" footing the bill one way or another.
- beb82, on 10/10/2008, -4/+16Who do you think is footing the bill for Obama's socialist health care plan? Oh yeah the tax payers.
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -0/+9you betcha!
- haloplayer9672, on 10/10/2008, -1/+10I think it's so funny how you Obama bots think everything Obama says in his commercials or rallies is true. "Oh, Obama said that McCain's bill will make the tax payer pay! The messiah can't lie or stretch the truth so it MUST be true!" or "Obama says McCain is another George Bush! Oh no! I guess I'm too dense to realize this whole economy thing has been building over many years, even before Bush became President! Let's just blame Bush instead of the Democrat controlled congress with their 15% approval rating or Clinton who passed the bills in '99!"
- jorazzle, on 10/10/2008, -0/+9I clicked on this story just to make that comment. I'm glad someone else had the brains to beat me to it. Thank you.
- ousthouse, on 10/10/2008, -0/+8Taxpayers foot the bill for everything every politician has ever done.
- bizzywho, on 10/10/2008, -1/+9ummm...isn't ANY bailout gonna do the same thing???
Do you think with Obama, there is going to be no bailouts whatsoever during his Presidency? McCain or Obama, we're gonna be having bailouts probably.
The last hope for a Constitutional America with a sound money system died out with Ron Paul... - michigander, on 10/10/2008, -0/+8This wont be to popular with diggers, but the truth must be told.
The root of the economic crisis originated in the Clinton administration. During his administration, Bill Clinton used the Federal Reserve put pressure on mortgage lenders (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) to extend credit to everyone. (Honorable, but not smart) Consequently, mortgages were issued to people who couldn't afford the risk Clinton put on them. When home prices went down, those who wanted to refinance their homes couldn't, which caused the foreclosure crisis. To make it simple, the foreclosure crisis has hindered the banks ability to extend credit to those applying for loans, which ultimately causes the whole economy to freeze, much like my heart has when people have the guts to blame blindly blame Bush and the free-market economy.
If Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could had operated as the market allowed, we wouldn't be in this crisis. - inactive, on 10/10/2008, -3/+11I can do something McCain can't do...
*continues using computer* - liquisoft, on 10/10/2008, -4/+12Everyone forgets that McCain is full of genius ideas, but he can't tell everybody about them because then the terrorists would know we're coming.
- sk11, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7"His plan for getting Osama involves a helicopter, a rifle and Sarah Palin."
McCain: that's the way 'Nam SHOULD have been fought! - Bradgl87, on 10/10/2008, -0/+6Haha ... so true ...
- djdingo, on 10/10/2008, -8/+14I can do something John McCain can't do.
*raises arms over head* - pencilneck, on 10/10/2008, -0/+6Not for nothing, but ANY and every bailout is going to be paid for by those of us who pay taxes. Government doesn't have it's own money, it has our money.
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -4/+10You'll get dug down but you wont get an answer.
The details are that he'll raise taxes and, now this is the critical part, he'll blame the tax hikes on Bush. - keylime48, on 10/10/2008, -1/+71. Dingbats in congress pass laws making it easy for morons to buy houses that they can't afford. Force banks to offer mortgages to these morons, when I wouldn't loan them five bucks.
2. Resulting mass of buyers drives house prices to new highs, fueled by artificially low interest rates.
3. House of cards collapses, and now the dingbats want to take money from responsible homeowners to bail out rich banks, and rescue the morons that should never have been allowed to buy a house?
4. Vote "NONE OF THE ABOVE!" - thatguy331, on 10/10/2008, -10/+16lol
Obama panders to the masses, "I'll give you free stuff!" - Digg swoons
McCain panders to the masses, "I'll give you free stuff!" - Digg kicks and screams about it - ShyGuy91284, on 10/10/2008, -0/+6Dur? Does it really take an article for people to realize that? I thought it was common sense that any promises a candidate makes are going to be powered by tax dollars....
- k1n6, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5People have this false sense that tax payers aren't going to foot the bill for ANY bail out that takes place?????? The real ticket is Obama/McCain and its what every american is buying no matter which of these two you vote for. don't kid yourselves. look at the facts.
- brad3378, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Don't blame me - I voted for Ron Paul.
- troGGers, on 10/10/2008, -2/+7Agreed. I don't know how everyone is so critical of McCain and says nothing about Obama's blunders. How exactly does he plans to drastically increase government spending in addition to cutting 95% of the population's taxes? Is he somehow footing the bill?
- SetOverSet, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Let's get something straight. They already both voted for the 700 billion bailout and we know the taxpayer is paying for that bill. So there really isn't any difference between either candidate. And then Pelosi jumps in with another 150 billion yesterday.
- troGGers, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5I couldn't agree more. Clinton even came out and said it himself that the economy situation was directly related to the bills he passed to encourage loans to unqualified people in an effort to boost the economy during his term. Yeah, eventually loans actually do need to be paid otherwise the economy fails. By my calculations that's about 9 years. :-/
- SadMartigan, on 11/25/2008, -2/+7If only it were confined to Digg. There is no such thing as a government bailout that isn't paid for by the taxpayers.
The only money government has is the money it takes from us. - cryemoxkidcry, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5A new challenger appears: Chuck Baldwin.
- nullvector, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Um...don't we as tax payers pay for everything the government does anyway, in one way, or another?
It would be nice to have a government that said "tax less, spend less", but no, the ego of those in charge and those in Washington will always mean bigger government.
The government has screwed up enough. Why do we still keep giving them power. - Arkons24, on 10/10/2008, -2/+7Please. Obama made the same promises. Buried as inaccurate New Jesus spam.
- Skywise, on 10/10/2008, -1/+6Newsflash brainiacs... ANY bailout paid for by the US will involve taxpayers footing the bill...
- shaherazad, on 10/10/2008, -1/+6Psh, like someone else would foot our bill.
Cmon, now, who do you think that would be? - neonoodle, on 10/10/2008, -4/+8because Utopia stories don't sell. You don't see any unicorns or rainbows in Blade Runner, do you?
- s0krat3z, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5He'll follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell if he has to. But he won't go into Pakistan and get him. Maybe he needs to establish some preconditions and wait 15 years for them to not work first.
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -6/+10and McCain's followers are a bunch of free-thinking scholars...
lol - inactive, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5^_~
You betcha! - chadpyle, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5McCain's an idiot for opening his big yap about that but nobody's ever accused him of being a smart guy. However, let's not forget that both front-runners endorsed the $800+ billion that we just handed over to the banks. And why do you suppose they both managed to agree on that bill? Surprise surprise, they both received special interest financing from those very same banks.
- naturalemarket, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4yes we would be footing the bill only with obama, taxes will raise and we lose things like capital gains laws. I dont like McCain and I am not defending him, I just really don't like obama, I am sick of taxation and misrepresentation. Read all the websites for all the candidates, you don't have to vote fore the two main candidates.
- digguser1357, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4Any bailout plan will have tax payers foot the bill!
The title suggests that only McCain's will!
Inaccurate! - Dgen_X, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5Isn't McDonalds still selling the Big Mac?
EEEVEN MOOORE of the same! - Ruqsaq, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5So does this title imply that with Obama's plan taxpayer's don't foot the bill? Someone please explain...
