McCain Advisers Lobbied for EU to Win Air Force Tanker deal

nytimes.com — A co-chairman of Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign and other top campaign advisers and supporters were lobbyists for the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company, part of a group that beat out Boeing for a $35 billion contract to build aerial refueling tankers for the Air Force.

  • NoDrama, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1There are irregularities enough that the GAO is likely to review this decision - Boeing has already complained formally. It would be disheartening to learn that McCain advisors had directed money and jobs overseas at a time when our domestic economy is struggling, but disgraceful if they used inappropriate means to influence the Air Force decision.
