- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -14/+97The man is a Neocon nutcase.
- madcat033, on 01/06/2008, -6/+59Is he trying to lose voters? I mean, the guy who asked the question sounded absolutely disgusted and dumbfounded about the "50 years" thing, and then McCain interrupts him and suggests ONE HUNDRED YEARS?! Are you kidding me? Jeeze.
Look at the people in the front row... they are pretty much in disbelief. - StripeyMagee, on 01/06/2008, -6/+53.......Er well, at least until the ground has been pumped dry.
- chupavacas, on 01/06/2008, -6/+46Is this a surprise to anyone? This is THE PLAN. Why else would they build humongous military bases there? Think about it: 3rd largest oil producing nation, access to the Persian Gulf and they've got Iran surrounded. It's a neo-con wet dream.
- ripperman, on 01/06/2008, -6/+38100 YEARS??? Is he nuts?
- Beson669, on 01/06/2008, -4/+25Maybe McCain should spend 100 years in Iraq. Yes I know he would be dead long before then but really, are we out anything?
- banmaster, on 01/06/2008, -1/+19There is only 1 republican and 1 democrat who aren't NeoCon nutjobs, and just look at how much they have been marginalized by their own parties and the MSM.
- TWGMichael, on 01/06/2008, -6/+22It costs US taxpayers 1 billion dollars a week to keep troops in Iraq. We have over 500,000 US troops stationed around the world occupying military hot spots like Germany and Japan. This is the American Empire. How can we afford to keep dumping money on the world in the form of military bases while New Orleans drowns, California burns and 12 million illegal immigrants pour across our borders.
- mwrl, on 01/06/2008, -2/+17We will be in Europe, Korea, Japan, for a good 100 years. We were in the Philippine islands for well over 100 years, we were in Panama over a 100 years. How does this shock anyone?
- tschau, on 01/06/2008, -1/+14Having troops there does not mean a war, as seen by the continued troop presence in Japan or South Korea.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -1/+13We have been in Germany, Japan, Italy and Korea for over 50 years. Have a 99 year contract to be in Kuwait. Do you guys really think we are leaving Iraq?
- wondertwins, on 01/06/2008, -1/+12wtf does that mean?!
- mwrl, on 01/06/2008, -0/+11Except the Hundred Year Wars between England and France which lasted 116 years.
- PSWTyrant, on 01/06/2008, -4/+12Fossilized insanity.
- xTRUMANx, on 01/06/2008, -3/+11It means he has the 8 ball missing from his pool table.
- virtualball, on 01/06/2008, -5/+12WHY would we need to be there for 100 years when we didn't even need to be there at all? The conservatives are getting crazier as the election gets closer...
Huckabee: "And then Jesus, on his dinosaur, told me that taxes should be higher... and death to gays!" - Corrosionx, on 01/06/2008, -0/+7Because the American taxpayers are being milked to pay for these bases, and when the US economy collapses, other nefarious organizations will be able to take over these bases for pennies on the dollar...
America's economy is being destroyed on purpose. - S1ngular1ty1, on 01/06/2008, -3/+10It means he isn't playing with a full deck of cards.
- Webrunner53, on 01/06/2008, -8/+15This man has a sandwich missing from his picnic basket!
- MaximusPryme, on 01/06/2008, -5/+11No, hundred year wars have been fought all throughout history! We need to stay the course (of history that is)!
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -0/+6Ya we are required to babysit other nations because they don't know how to be peaceful........RIGGGGGHTTTTT. Mccain, you are a nutjob. It's ok though, blame it on the torture just don't think for a second anyone's going to let your warmongering ass into the white house.
- monkeyrun, on 01/06/2008, -0/+6Who ever suggest that we should stay in Iraq should have their whole family sent over there, period.
Deal or no deal? - DeadRooster, on 01/06/2008, -3/+9He says idiotic things like that because he's 100-years-old.
- Mejogid, on 01/06/2008, -2/+7A few beers short of a six-pack.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -6/+11John McCain isn't going anywhere in 2008. His alliance with Joe Lieberman, his "we have to win!" campaign which is complete *****, and the reliance on super patriots to elevate his campaign is just not going to sit well with the voters at large. Sure, the neo-con base loves it and GOP lifers are essentially forced to support a pro-War guy because of how polarized our system is... but it doesn't mean he has a shot at winning. 2008 will veer left / anti-War -- there is just no way around it.
- Treason, on 01/06/2008, -2/+7This man is a couple noodles short of a casserole.
- tschau, on 01/06/2008, -0/+5Conscious, intelligent voters would probably be aware that we've been in Japan, Korea, and Germany, among other places, for quite some time, and that the very idea of keeping a military presence somewhere for an extended period is not a ludicrous idea.
- leexy, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4This post is brought to you by PETRODOLLAR.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4We were not in the Philippines for "well over a hundred years."
- pnmoore, on 01/06/2008, -2/+6I am not a McCain fan and will not ever in my life vote for the man, but listen to what he is saying!
He is NOT saying he is OK with the war lasting that long! He says he is OK with the US having a presence in that part of the world just like we do in Japan and South Korea...and bases in Germany and many other foreign countries as well.
Be a responsible citizen and actually listen to what is said before you launch an all out flame war on everything someone says! When a crazy person says something (like McCain does plenty of the time anyway without people having to jump to conclusions) feel free to fire away, but not when they say something sensible. That just makes you look stupid. - cherwilco, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4so stupid. If your going to suggest someone go back to college then you should REALLY not misspell college while doing it.
- dinostabOMG, on 01/06/2008, -2/+6That he's not as smart as the av-er-age bear.
- freezeout, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4the NeoCons sank half a trillion into this thing (all the lives lost don't really matter in their equations) so do you really think they don't expect a return on their investment? get real. as long as the US has military presence in Iraq, oil will be sold in dollars and Americans can continue to consume more than they produce at the expense of other countries. same as it ever was..
- banmaster, on 01/06/2008, -2/+6Hes a ***** picnic basket short of a picnic basket!
- WhereAmI, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4Proper English is not one of Diggs' strong points.
- mikewhite314, on 01/06/2008, -0/+4wow, I hope he's a household name everywhere. I mean, twice-presidential candidate? he should be a household name.
- diggerman, on 01/06/2008, -1/+4Wowww..... and this is the man who is number one in New Hampshire? Pretty Sad. Wake up America! Go Ron Paul!
- catbeller, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3Idiots have eight kids. Smart people have 1-3. Idiots will win.
- Rockmaninoff, on 01/06/2008, -1/+4BLOOD ALONE MOVES THE WHEELS OF HISTORY!
- detree, on 01/06/2008, -2/+5He's really on his hands and knees praying for AIPAC to back him with this latest madness.
- MaTT2011, on 01/06/2008, -2/+5Well if this were a country comprised of conscious, intelligent voters then a statement like this might be political suicide....
but sadly this is not the case in a country where many people would vote for Bush a third time. Mental retardation is sweeping the nation. - l2OI3, on 01/06/2008, -1/+4His newspapers is missing a section.
- a1532b, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3He's so dumb he couldn't pour water out of a boot...with instructions on the heel.
- FTLJohnson, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3um, his comment was "No, he's not crazy, wars that have lasted a hundred years have been fought all throughout history!" ... So, I'm not sure why this was dugg up, and the comment above buried... The comma placement made sense to me... He probably could have been more descriptive though....
- SemiSarcastic, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3I'll hold my applause until we hit the 1000 year mark.
- madroneDorf, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3Actually...
It's 2007, American military presence in the Philipines goes back to the Spanish American War (1898)
Which is 109 years. While not "well over" its certainly over a hundred years, and its likely the US will continue to have a military presence in the Philipines for the forseeable future - coldkodiak, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3and now it aint. Isn't that McCain's point?
- catbeller, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3Bingo. Let President Obama reactivate him to active duty and let him march up and down the main drag (in the crap body armor no one in Congress cared to upgrade) in Baghdad. Or worse yet, make him Viceroy, or ambassador. In an normal home outside the Green Zone. He SAID it was safe last year, when he had that company of soldiers accompany him around while he was wearing armor, safe enough to go shopping. Let's see him do it in jeans and a smile.
- KSUdesigner, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3It's 2007? Did you invent a time machine or something?
- Archer007, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3Notice he doesn't mention the cost in American lives?
