- Cfahooligan, on 10/16/2008, -5/+207This is disgusting. Just when you think McCain, Palin, and the RNC couldn't go any lower, they do in horrible and shocking new ways.
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -8/+162They'll do anything they can to steal the election - we can't let it happen again.
We should all forward this article to the major media outlets - make sure this story gets the coverage it needs to stop the calls or give people fair warning ...A fellow digg user was kind enough to supply this media contact list on a recent comment about another story -

I say we bring out the rotten fruit at his apperances. Douse the stupid SOB in crap as her deserves.
- NBGill, on 10/16/2008, -2/+101Isn't it obvious that if Ayers were still any kind of terrorist threat that he'd be hanging upside down by his toenails in Gitmo, or some "secret" CIA prison in Poland or Afghanistan, being beaten with rubber truncheons, right now? Why doesn't Ayers sue for slander? As far I know, he hasn't been convicted of anything. Or at least not recently.
While we're on the topic of casting aspersions, John Lewis was more right than wrong in what he said. McCain complained that it really hurt his feelings. He demanded a repudiation. Isn't it now absolutely crystal clear that this is simply another example of the vilest hypocrisy on McCain's part? - netgui68, on 10/16/2008, -5/+71Just another example of John McCain and corrupt host finding ways to try to spread their vicious lies.
- ScienceDoc, on 10/16/2008, -3/+65McShame - a sad little man.
- jerryz7936, on 10/16/2008, -3/+62A pathetic old man. He lost his honor and surrounded himself with really bad people.
- mommywommy, on 10/16/2008, -4/+61Republicans are a menace to this country.
- SpecificObject, on 10/16/2008, -4/+57Pathetic. How low can McCain go?
- fishbeef33, on 10/17/2008, -3/+45"Hello. I'm calling from the RNC. This is a last-ditch effort to make you think that the dark-skinned guy is really an uzi-wielding terrorist bent on destroying your family. We hope that you'll vote for John McCain this November, even though we can't really think of a good reason why. But remember: black = terrorist.
To speak to a hot, lonely Sarah Palin sound-alike, please stay on the line. $9.95 per minute." - whit4brains, on 10/16/2008, -1/+41Ayers was never convicted of anything. The case was thrown out because the FBI used illegal methods to gather evidence. I don't see why he couldn't sue for slander.
Now he is a Dignified Professor at the University of Illinois and was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1997 for his work on public education reform in Chicago. - inactive, on 10/16/2008, -2/+39Yeah, I got that call too. I'm not too likely to be swayed by a fake person telling me lies through the telephone, but you never know what idiots might feel vindicated by such shenanigans, hearing their false opinions fed back to them by the voice on the phone.
- freestylergbb, on 10/16/2008, -3/+39Disgusting, ugly -- what will the next few weeks bring? Then again, who's stupid enough to believe this -- only those who already buy their lies I hope.
- HumanNouveau, on 10/16/2008, -3/+38Also telling is the fact that the RNC apparently can't muster the volunteer support it would take to actually make these calls with the more effctive live caller approach.
- Rubuntu, on 10/16/2008, -2/+37McCain going to the gutter to win! Even if it divides our nation and his presidency is tarnished...
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -4/+36I just saw this on CNN, good job. McCain and his people are nasty, desperate, pathetic and have no honor...
But, we can't stop, we can't become complacent! - Americanwhiner, on 10/16/2008, -3/+33Yep. I'm here to tell you that I got two of these calls, two days in a row, here in Henderson, Nevada. I don't know yet whether they are illegal here in Nevada, but I WILL find out. The Republicans are running such a filthy, dishonorable campaign. WHO would want this group in charge of anything? I am disgusted with them.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+30I used to think Republicans were just misinformed, now I seriously think they might be retarded!
- kushin, on 10/17/2008, -2/+28The stench of Republican desperation is getting unbearably strong.
- paintgrl, on 10/16/2008, -2/+27I am going to do something I have never done, vote straight Democrat this year.
Obama/Biden 08 - inactive, on 10/17/2008, -3/+28Well. If anyone read my comments in the past you would know that I was voting for a third party. But I am tired of hearing this crap and all you McCain voters thank McCain for me. I am now voting for Obama. I am sick of this fear and hysteria the Neo-Cons are pumping out daily. After eight years of Bush, I can't handle another four or eight years of the same crap.
- liberD, on 10/16/2008, -3/+27McCain/Palin and their campaign are despicable. The will do anything - even cheat (like in Ohio?). This country has one last chance to get back on track. They represent the worst we have to offer.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -2/+25Republicans violate federal and state law with impunity.
- calypsoschnitzl, on 10/17/2008, -5/+28***** you McCain.
The American people are not going to fall for your *****. - madfrogurt, on 10/17/2008, -1/+24Do you believe that what is being reported is true (that the RNC is doing this robocall)? What would it take for you to accept it as true (does it need to be reported on Fox)? If it is eventually reported on Fox, would you change your mind about the truthfulness of Huffpo?
Here's my prediction: You don't believe its true, and you'll come up with any excuse, including that Obama's team made the calls themselves before you accept the truth when it's reported in passing on Fox. Then you'll accept that the RNC made the calls, but was justified in doing so because it's just about Obama's response to the allegation, not the allegation itself. Finally you will forgot that you called the Huffpo liars for publishing this article, and move on to the next article. - madfrogurt, on 10/16/2008, -3/+26Glad to know that McCain doesn't care about an old washed up terrorist. He doesn't care so much so in fact that he's willing to call everyone in the continental United States to inform them so.
(...Obama is a terrorist, pass it on) - VinnieDaMac, on 10/16/2008, -2/+24Must suck being Bill Ayers these days.
- alecnineke, on 10/17/2008, -2/+24Mc Cain has lost any vestige of decency which he may have had left after his selection of that "scumbag" as a person who could be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S.A someday (God forbid). And now THIS. I think it dishonors the Armed Forces for him even to mention that he once belonged to that honorable group of men and women. He is truly a despicable and tragic remnant of humanity.
- insomniac8400, on 10/16/2008, -3/+24I guess they couldn't find real people willing the spread the hate, so they got an autodialer.
- vertigo32, on 10/17/2008, -2/+23It's funny, but before this election I had quite a bit of respect for McCain. Not as much as I did in 2000, but until he buddied up to Bush I really thought he would make a good president.
Too bad McCain 2000 sold his soul and became McCain 2008. - ginestony, on 10/17/2008, -1/+21Let's robo-call them back... they left their number: (202) 863-8500

Have you forgot his Vp choice?
Stupid! - Mattwdj, on 10/17/2008, -1/+19I live in colorado and got one of these today. Its kinda funny. i went something like " you need to know barack obama associates with terroriests, terroriest that bombed....(lists a couple of places).... message paid for by john mccain." I thought it was really wierd.
- jdowland, on 10/17/2008, -5/+22Disgusting tactics by McCain. I hope they prosecute.
Sarah Palin has closer terrorist connections than Obama.
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/10/07/pa ... - lepster10101, on 10/16/2008, -2/+19McCain really is pathetic now, give it up gramps.....
- 10lbhammer, on 10/17/2008, -1/+17WOW AWESOME COMMENT
- Blasphemous88, on 10/17/2008, -1/+17I can't wait to not have to see that nasty little old man on my TV any more. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
- bobartig, on 10/17/2008, -0/+14My friend's answering machine got a call from the local Obama campaign group. Actually, it was a recording of Scarlett Johansson that she did to promote Obama.
We were more like "Woah, Scarlett Johansson is on your answering machine. Now you can never delete that message!" - troyfoley, on 10/17/2008, -1/+15It's funny. McCain said in the debate last night that he doesn't care about "an old washed up terrorist".
- VicHislop, on 10/17/2008, -2/+16You've received "robocalls" from the DNC and/or the Obama campaign? Really?
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -2/+16No it doesn't, because the calls don't say anything other than "Obama worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers." They make every attempt to obfuscate the truth of Sen. Obama's proximity to him, and they go out of their way to brush aside the fact that he knew and worked with him purely out of a professional capacity, on the Annenberg Challenge board with many other people and for school projects and grants with the University of Chicago.
The RNC and the McCain campaign win every time they can convince somebody on the other end that Barack Obama built garage bombs with Bill Ayers and keep reality, context and fact entirely of the equation. - paigeinphilly, on 10/17/2008, -2/+16"“When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.”
wow.. best silly ass line, hands down...i almost feel like im in a time warp.
wait, this IS 2008 right?
lawd
Obama/Biden 08 - ousthouse, on 10/17/2008, -0/+12Has a 'robocall' ever changed a person's vote in the intended fashion? I've gotten two in the past few weeks (from local campaigns) and they do nothing but make me not want to vote for the candidates.
- frankejames, on 10/16/2008, -1/+13I just got alerted to this story by CNN's Anderson Cooper on Twitter.
Anyone can sign up for his tweets. Anderson's tweets lack the personal warmth of his on-screen persona (think he's getting his assistants to do them) but great info. http://twitter.com/andersoncooper - ChromaticDragon, on 10/17/2008, -0/+12It doesn't matter at all who Ayers is. Ayers is a macguffin here. It really isn't important who he is or what he does or did. Indeed, for the purposes of the propaganda in question, it is much more important that what he did is so insignificant that it pales in comparison to the horribly dangerous bogeyman that is conjured up in the mind when one hears the dreaded term "TERRORIST".
Earlier this year, some folk came out with a study that those more inclined to be fearful tend to vote conservative. This endless drum beating of "Ayers" is nothing more than an appeal to fear. Neither logic, nor honesty, nor reality is important here. Only deeply resonating fear.
I just have to laugh myself. I know it's the season for spooks and goblins. But I wish people would realize terrorists have motives. They're not just monsters out to eat babies and rack up death tolls. Whatever, Obama's secret terrorist dreams might be... don't you think by now he could just dispense with these presumed secret terrorist tactics since he's pretty much coasting right on in to the presidency? - keithloughnane, on 10/17/2008, -1/+12I say this out of wanting you to get more diggs. Don't assume people know what a robocall is!'
or an autodailer Your summary is important, and this stuff is too important to be dismissed. - StarlessKnight, on 10/17/2008, -0/+11...Before the last term ended, colleagues say, someone appeared at Ayers' university office to shout at him. There were e-mailed death threats. Security has been tightened at some of Ayers' speaking engagements. "It's been a tough time for him, but he's accustomed to tough times," says William Schubert, one of Ayers' colleagues at the University of Illinois...

That'd be a yes-and-no. - IllBeBack, on 10/17/2008, -4/+15Oh, I'm sure they can go lower.
- DigitAl56K, on 10/17/2008, -1/+12Yes, even *after* Obama answered him *to his face* in a *nationally televised* debate, they're *still* doing this?!
