- abroch, on 09/05/2008, -0/+27It's not only the RNC but the DNC too, they're all in on it!
- JKap, on 09/05/2008, -0/+23It's reminiscent of events associated with the 2008 "Democratic" National Convention.

Even if they are not charged they will be added to a data base in which they will certainly be set up to have all of their electronic correspondence spied on.
Who is responsible for this? We all are. If you don't manage to disconnect 5 people from the TV and its mind control, then you are not doing your part to save America. - rhpaulite, on 09/05/2008, -0/+20Why isn't this on front page!
Digg hard people!
Let's make it VIRAL! - Violent, on 09/05/2008, -0/+18"I was trying to describe why I felt this way to a friend over then phone and it dawned on me.
This is America, not a police state. We expect this behavior from other places in the world, but not the USA." - Lawofnations, on 09/05/2008, -0/+18I love it. Now maybe the idiots in the press will finally do some credible investigative reporting instead of spouting dumbed down, contrived or misleading propaganda designed to entertain Joe Sixpack.

- Shiloah, on 09/05/2008, -1/+17No, abroch and JKap. There is no comparison. This was a MASS arrest, 300 people, a quarter of them journalists. The incident at the DNC was ONE journalist. Big difference.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+14War on US!
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+12It seems like the ones who were rioting were the Police!!!

FTA:
"For the first time in a long time my career made me feel physically sick to my stomach—this is coming from a journalist who worked the Iraq beat during the peak of beheading season.
I was trying to describe why I felt this way to a friend over the phone and it dawned on me.
This is America, not a police state. We expect this behavior from other places in the world, but not the USA." - rlmcintosh, on 09/05/2008, -0/+12Those in the media should start waking up soon.....
Ron Paul is the only politician out there who knows we are at the end of this republic and he is hell bent on trying to save it. Pay attention media and report, report, report!!!! if only for our posterity to see what we were up against.... - MANYplaces84, on 09/05/2008, -0/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6L8J3L-2Kw&fmt=18
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+11Yeah, Americans have still got "freedom of speech", except now its located down the street in a penned-off place away from the public and surrounded by cops in a place called the "Free Speech Zone".
The US, "the land of the free," has the biggest prison population in the world and the highest rate of prisoners per capita of all countries – including countries that President Bush believes need liberating by US armed forces.
America incarcerates more people for non-violent crimes than any other country in History.
Even China, with one party rule and a population that is 4.5 times larger than the US population, has 30% fewer total prisoners than the US. China’s per capita rate is a small fraction of the US rate.
The US prison population per capita is three times higher than "axis of evil" country Iran, five times higher than Tanzania, and seven times higher than a civilized European country like Germany.
One out of every 142 Americans is in prison – and this does not include military prisons or INS jails.
I mean, to have to deal w/ this piece of sh*t country..
I have seriously given up on the notion that this country will ever be something that I can be proud of. Our government is run by a bunch of corrupt morons and it is supported by a bigger bunch of bigger morons who have no decent sense of right and wrong, but instead think "morality" is all about trying to legislate who people have intercourse with rather than about honesty or how people should treat one another.
The only way to approach this country and all of the backwoods idiots in it is to use their own stupid policies against them to get richer and richer so that you have enough money that you never have to be in the same room as any of them and you don't have to send your kids to school with any of them, and when the time comes, you can move to Canada or Europe when things get even more crappy here.
So, bye bye hillbilly, bible-thumping freaks!! Keep waving the flag Corkey because your bigotry is nothing to be ashamed of, and to thump the bible because your ignorance is a virtue. You should cherish your hatefulness and small-mindedness as they are family values. You are not society's rejects, but rather, you are higher on the ladder than certain other people. Right-wing radio points them out so that you know who to hate to feel better about yourself.
Enjoy your speudo-patriot-act-restricted-"freedom" in your illiterate, poverty stricken counties! Hope your 'prayer in schools' makes you feel better about how bad your lives suck!!! Hope you enjoy licking the bottoms of the Bush family's shoes while you wear your size extra-large Walmart outfits and eat hamburger helper for dinner for the rest of your pathetic lives!!!
Buy more little yellow magnets made in China because you're too stupid to understand real Democracy, too stupid to understand high treason and too stupid to find the fvcking recruiting office or a library.
How do you nastyfux live with your own stench? - abroch, on 09/06/2008, -0/+11Its on reddit too... also it looks like we can get involved on the site too, there's a get involved link. It's our time to take back our country!
- abroch, on 09/05/2008, -0/+10True, but one journalist arrested is one too many.
- sandsafari, on 09/05/2008, -2/+10Apparently they have removed the video that went with the story.....
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8No, scroll down. The video IS there!
- Nerys, on 09/06/2008, -0/+8
I think the time for a non violent reaction is quickly ending.
WHy did these 350 people not VIOLENTLY defy the police?
not violently as in hurting people but violently as in with force.
IE say we do not recognize your authority here. You will obey us.
I mean they are NOT going to kill you. That would be far too public in such a large crowd.
Just say no. What are they going to do? seriously? I assure you there is no way in hell there were 350 police officers there?
In this game as long as the RESOLVE is in place Numbers rule. Numbers win.
Walk up to the police enmass and state together. We revoke your authority. You will get out of our way or we will remove you by force. Compliance is mandatory. Resistance is Futile.
This would require extreme coordination to make sure no BOZO’s did anything stupid like hit a cop or anything like that.
Whether they deserve it or not they ARE Just doing what they think is there job (though it does not take a genius to realize your orders are unconstitutional)
People and Police need to learn there word is not the word of GOD. We do not have to OBEY simply because they say.
WE are in charge. They work for us. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+7FTA: "And this isn’t a case of someone being careless like the reporter from Democracy Now who walked past a police line."
----
What BS! I can't believe this person through in such a gratuitous jab at Democracy Now! Especially after seeing how the Police were intentionally targetting journalists! What a fool's fool. - Shiloah, on 09/05/2008, -0/+7Yes, I agree that one is one too many. But 50 is waaay too many. And the ordeal went on for much of the night, as I understand the report.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+6"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds."
- Bob Marley, Redemption Song - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5From Fox News:
http://www.myfoxlubbock.com/myfox/pages/News/Polit ...
"Whoever got arrested was whoever didn't disperse and was still on the bridge," Fletcher said. "The tactic of blocking people on the bridge could very well have prevented a lot of activity later tonight. Clearly there were a number of people with no intention of being law-abiding tonight."
----
So this really is 1984 and Fletcher is the Thought Police. He ordered people arrested because of their "intent". Not because of anything they had done!!! - AnarchoGoth, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5According to another article, they even arrested a team from a Fox News affiliate.
http://digg.com/politics/Even_Fox_News_reporters_a ... - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5This is the equivalent of the Police setting on fire a crowded Church and locking the doors. The people had no way out while they were being assaulted by stun grenades and tear gas. This was NOT a violent crowd. This was a group of people loudly expressing their Constitutionally protected political views.
This is deliberate and coordinated Police Brutality. They obviously trained for this. The whole Police Force should be put on trial. This is the modern equivalent of the dogs and the fire hoses that were unleashed upon the civil rights protesters. Except today the MSM is even more complicit in this Police State tactic than it was in the 1960s. - jaymzdean, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5Would actually be a good point if it wasn't so moot.
- chrisjj, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4What else would you expect - given that the Republicans are intent on suppressing all opinion not in line with their own and on labeling their detractors 'terrorists' or 'un-American' or some such nonsense. The press and media are just about the only means by which our freedom will be sustained in America as it veers headlong towards fascism. Meantime the Republican attendees at their conference spout their inane slogans as they seek to redefine the meaning of 'patriotism'.
"No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots. [Barbara Ehrenreich]" - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3The first amendment gives us the right to speak and to gather and demonstrate and it also gives us the right to petition the government for redress of grievances and clearly 300 people have grievances that need to be redressed.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2Scary stuff. I did see some protesters holding up signs that said "peace" and "love." Unless there were some other protesters off-camera holding up signs saying "187 ON DA PO-PO," the police reaction seems oppressive.
- Nerys, on 09/06/2008, -1/+2NOTE this is all on the premise that its a legitimate march/protest NOT a riot. Actual Rioters and vandals DESERVE to have there heads handed to them.
- jurnei, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Folks are just so tired of our elected officials. Quite outrageous.
- luv2blog2, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Unreal......
- ChristNewsWatch, on 09/07/2008, -2/+1Just a hunch.... but were these "police", perhaps Blackwater members?
Sounds like their tactics..... I don't know, just speculating.
