- neognostic, on 08/21/2008, -40/+298They bought their daughter a $700,000.00 crib as a college graduation present? If that doesn't say "out of touch" with America, then I don't know what will.
- whoomp123, on 08/22/2008, -9/+142"The McCains Own Three “Hidden Valley Ranches” Worth $1,103,615 in 2007."
That is a lot of money for just 3 bottles of salad dressing. - DiggItalia, on 08/21/2008, -12/+107Can't wait to see him on MTV .. "and that's ma refrigerator..."
- Mejari, on 08/22/2008, -5/+78I believe that was the point, PolishLogic. If are so wealthy that you have 10 homes, and even moreso if you can't remember how many homes you have, then yeah, you are probably 'out of touch' with the vast majority of Americans who are facing economic hardship right now.
- richirwin, on 08/21/2008, -45/+111McCain is either out of touch or senile.
Either way, he's a threat to the United States of America and not fit to serve as Senator or President.
John McCain - A hero without honor. - ScienceDoc, on 08/21/2008, -34/+90Wait for the McSame moron squad. As soon as this is linked to one of their moronic ditto-head talking points blogs, they'll be here.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -29/+73I guess ditching your wife after she's injured in a car crash really pays off.
- mecharabbit, on 08/22/2008, -6/+47Pardon me, Senator, have you any Grey Poupon?
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -13/+52His middle name's HUSSEIN! He's a Communist! And a Muslim! And black! And a socialist! He kills babies! And he hates families!
/moron squad impression - IphtashuFitz, on 08/21/2008, -8/+39Hell, I'll vote for McCain if he buys me a $200,000 crib...
- ACrazyGerman, on 08/21/2008, -4/+34As soon as I saw this, I had to comment on your being douche bag.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -14/+41A $700,000 house is a little more than a "gift."
- pintomp3, on 08/22/2008, -4/+29let them bake cake.
- harbon, on 08/22/2008, -14/+38It's not that being successful is a bad thing; it's that McCain says Obama is out of touch and elitist... when he owns 10 homes! HYPOCRITE!
- pojut, on 08/22/2008, -7/+29I know you are being sarcastic...however... you also have to remember that up until a few years ago, the man still had student loans. STUDENT LOANS. Yes, he went to an expensive, good school...and look what he did with his education.
Not to mention, McCain didn't even EARN his riches...he married them. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -5/+26With all the hype about Obama being some sort of "elitist," it's important to note that McCain's slightly out of touch with the commoners himself.
- skinrock, on 08/22/2008, -15/+35I loved McCain's campaign response, something along the lines of "does the guy who made 4 million dollars last year and bought a 1 million dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to go there". Really? I can't wait till the DNC is over so Obama can get to work and just ***** rip these bastards apart.
- DarkPrincess74, on 08/22/2008, -2/+22Considering most people have 1 home and there's a rash of people losing their homes lately then I think owning 10 houses, being aloof with the knowledge of how many you own and giving your daughter a house more expensive than the cost of most people's houses is out of touch with the majority of people. Sure he can do it with his wealth but Obama has only one house so tell me who seems less in touch with most voters?
- topgigmedia, on 08/22/2008, -1/+21OK let's spell it out for you...
McCain is out of touch with the common middle class and lower-middle class folks and their economic struggles. He was asked to define wealthy and also has gone on record saying that the US economy has done quite well over the last 8 years. Sure in his circles, people have done well, but he is OUT OF TOUCH with the demographics that he was addressing.
There - does that help clarify things a bit? - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -13/+33McCain: "I am rich, bitch!"
- zoom1928, on 08/22/2008, -6/+26> $700,000.00 crib as a college graduation present?
Do you have a source for that ridiculous claim? Even the overpriced Swedish furniture place in Seattle my wife and I looked at cribs at didn't have any cribs for more than $5k. Do you have a picture of this crib? So how much more du you claim was spent on the nursery where this crib was placed? - mecharabbit, on 08/22/2008, -2/+22...ain't nuttin' but 25 bottles of Cristal bub in dey right naow, dog...
- DuneChild, on 08/22/2008, -2/+21Before you dig this guy down for being dumb, keep in mind that not watching MTV probably makes him smarter than most people!
- soulkitchen, on 08/22/2008, -0/+19I heard they also own a thousand islands.
- enantiodromia, on 08/22/2008, -0/+19i'd do two chicks at the same time.
- fenderjazz, on 08/22/2008, -4/+21If I had that kind of money, I wouldn't blow it on a bunch of houses. I'd buy one modest house and a whole ***** of supercars.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -13/+30Get real. McCain is no hero.
- durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -8/+25
Even if I had that kind of money, I wouldn't buy something anywhere near that expensive for my kids. People learn the value of things by working for them. I don't care how much money I have, the most my kid's getting for graduation is a pat on the back and a new suit for job interviews. - enantiodromia, on 08/22/2008, -8/+24Error: 307 Temporary Redirect FAILED
- facepalmjpg, on 08/22/2008, -12/+28What an *****. I don't care that he has 10 homes, whatever. But having 10 homes and calling his opponent elitist? What the ***** is this moron thinking, do his thoughts even have a logical process? It's seriously mindboggling that such an incompetent is running for president of one of the most powerful nations in the world.
- gerrylazlo, on 08/22/2008, -1/+17Not everyone who supports Obama is a liberal retard. Not everyone who supports McCain is a Republican moron. I wish people would stop being distracted by simplified baiting and actually try and figure out what's really going on.
- ZeeZee2k, on 08/22/2008, -5/+20That's nothing if you live in New York.
- fantanel, on 08/22/2008, -7/+22Obama made his money.
McCain married it. - rivalthecreator, on 08/21/2008, -24/+39This is a man who probably can't even change his clothes without someone telling him what to wear. What a dumbass.
- thejimmyo, on 08/22/2008, -4/+18"Surley you WANT a president who know about how to manage money in charge of your country?"
He married the money. He didn't manage it. This is hardly a testament to his economic super-abilities. - Mejari, on 08/22/2008, -3/+17People can hate members of the military w/out hating the military. For example, I hate that douchebag who threw that puppy off a cliff, but I love our fighting men and women who fight honorably for our nation (even if they are being ordered around by a total moron in the white house).
- SpinningHead, on 08/22/2008, -1/+14A. McCain started this ridiculous talk of Obama being rich, elitist, and out of touch
B. The Obamas made their way through school with loans and scholarships...as opposed to a guy who got into Annapolis because of who daddy and grandpa were and then cheated on his wife and children to score a 1970s version of Paris Hilton.
For all the conservative talk about the value of hard work, they seem to respect wealth rather than how you got it - geoken, on 08/22/2008, -3/+16No one is saying that the act of buying a gift relative to his wealth makes him out of touch. They're using the value of the gift as a benchmark of his relative wealth, and by extension his inability to relate to the problems of the average person.
- vandernderyid, on 08/21/2008, -21/+33His monthly HOA fees on that condo in La Jolla is $670 (source: Redfin). That's more than some people's rents!
- MadOgre, on 08/22/2008, -26/+38Under 14 Mill... that's about the price of ONE of John Edwards houses.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -5/+17I was merely noting the hypocrisy of McCain calling Obama an "elitist" when, at last count, Obama had one house and McCain simply couldn't keep track of all his property.
- zurtri, on 08/22/2008, -16/+28Surley you WANT a president who know about how to manage money in charge of your country?
I would rather my president have 12 houses then renting some bungalow somewhere.
All this "hes out of touch cause he's rich" is not a strong argument. - enantiodromia, on 08/22/2008, -3/+14again, missing the entire point.
The GOP constantly attacks Democrats for being too "elite", with their lattes and volvos and sushi, to properly lead the country.
if the GOP didn't make that one of the most common plays, no one WOULD care how many houses he owned.
also, none of that is really his money anyway, i think his father-in-law was the money manager, iirc. - wonderchemist, on 08/21/2008, -0/+11Carboard boxes go for more than $670 in La Jolla.
- KazamaSmokers, on 08/22/2008, -10/+21That's what happens when you enact economic policies that destroy the middle class.
- SugarCoatedSalt, on 08/22/2008, -3/+14"...and here is my 7th house...ehe he.he...he he..he"
- ScottMitchell, on 08/22/2008, -0/+11Sigh.
The issue is not about how many houses McCain owns. It's that McCain is painting Obama as an elitist and, by extension, one who cannot empathize with the everyday struggling Americans. Yet how can McCain be considered one who can empathize with economic hardships of Americans in this housing crisis, when he can't even remember how many homes he owns.
On a slight tangent - the housing mess needs government to stay as far away as possible. Each bailout just extends the time it will take for the market to fully correct. Houses will return to historical norms, it just may take longer if Uncle Sam keeps throwing money around like Chimpanzees throw their feces. In the end there will be a lot of foreclosures and bank writeoffs, and FannieMae and FreddieMac will likely need Federal intervention. - Deadpixel1221, on 08/22/2008, -1/+11I don't think even PolishLogic himself, can amass enough McCain points for that to happen.
- Dumbledorito, on 08/22/2008, -7/+17Few hate the rich for being rich. It's people who are hypocrites about it (i.e. claiming to be one of the working folk who have to punch a clock to live) or those who got there by less than honorable means (i.e. via nepotism, at the expense of those around them, etc.) that get questioned and derided.
