- 309east, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21We will start seeing more and more stories of our government suppressing its citizens free speech.
- Reese268, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13no, Ron Paul would not support this. It is not the state's right to limit free speech, that is guarenteed to us at the federal level by the constitution. The states have rights they aren't getting, but states do not get every right.
- macman2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11It is a sad day when government has to attack someone whom they have no proof committed a crime.
- Kewlduderules, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I hope that guy calls the ACLU. They would have a good case against the county in court.
- Rockmaninoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That is unless everyone VOTES.
Ron Paul 2008. Make your vote count! - stealthc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The definition of a crime is a violation of the law in which another party is harmed.
This man has committed no crime. Not only has he harmed no one, but it sounds like he hasn't even broken a law. The posting of signs is a code infraction -- a violation of a regulation, akin to driving with expired plates or without your driver's license in your pocket.
I think the police need to spend time chasing criminals, people who hurt other people, instead of enforcing ridiculous regulations on peaceful, free citizens. - stealthc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5troprocker: "Give more power to" is not quite the same as "take less power from."
- 309east, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sick, this is another Ron Paul story that got buried. It was interesting, informative, and NOT a dupe.
- PeppermintPig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The problem is that politicians can hide behind the police, and the police can't really be questioned.
Become a local politician. Film and record the police in public. - FreakyD, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Jesus, give it a rest, It's not because it is a Ron Paul sign....It's ANY sign. You want to live, walk or drive through a city that any ***** can post a sign to promote whatever they choose? The other part of the story is ***** also (about handing out literature). If I had a booth and rented it for $1500.00, but then some people did whatever they want and not pay anything to be there it would piss every one of you off and you know it.
God, you hear Ron Pauls name and think it's a conspiracy against you, get a ***** life. - joebrender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't have a Ron Paul sign in my yard yet, it seems early. Think I should put one up?
- nbrntrt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Does it really take an instructional video to put up a sign? Are you saying no one would EVER have thought of this on their own if it hadn't been for his video? Lets see.. you take a sign and a hammer and a nail and then you.... (censored for fear of government reprisal).
- FriskDown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's because political discussion IS free speech. The point is that a Youtube video is also free speech - as long as it's original that is.
- Frei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What the ***** is going on in that county? First they try to fine Mr. Egoroff for the actions of others. Then I see in... "A Clermont man broke that city's ordinance recently when he displayed a sign for the underdog Republican in his yard without paying a $50 deposit. After a free-speech outcry, the city declined to enforce its rule."
-His Yard- - gibbwake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Everyone put up 10 Ron Paul signs around your town in retaliation.
- jmpeagle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Paul wants devolution of power down to the individualand he believes in the constitution. The rights of the individual supercede the rights of the local government which supercede the rights of the state government which supercede the rights of the federal government. The Constitution makes this possible because it was designed to protect the rights of the individual first hence things like the first amendmenf meanig no government had domain over it.
- FreakyD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is about city by-law...not about Ron Paul....MAN
- stealthc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Also, this guy needs to play his cards right. He needs to avoid making assertions in the court case. That way the judge can't use the system to overrule him. The minute you make a statement the judge -- in the twisted legal funhouse our courts live in -- can strike it out as your unqualified opinion and try to force you to prove it, putting the burden of proof on YOU. The trick is to keep the burden of proof on THEM. He just needs to ask questions and ONLY questions. Nothing should proceed from his mouth that isn't a question. Everything else, plead the 5th.
Egoroff: "What signs am I accused of putting up?"
Bureaucrat: "....um ....this one?"
Egoroff: "What evidence says I put that sign up?"
Bureaucrat: "..........."
Egoroff: "The defense rests." - Naidim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1He's supporting Ron Paul. The ACLU will not help him.
- FreakyD, on 10/13/2007, -3/+2Well no, the difference here is that he knows damn well everyone knows how to put the sign up, it's just putting a bee in your bonnet to actually go and do it. And since most of Ron Paul supporters agree with whatever, as long as it has Ron Pauls name on it.
Lemmings - FreakyD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Before you say "He didn't put up the signs, and I missed the point) I didn't miss the point. He encouraged it, basically told people how to do it.....we all know how to put a sign on a post.
- FreakyD, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4What's with everyone jumping on free speech? If you did not have free speech you would be on Digg spewing your ridiculous garbage and Bush bashing now would you?
Anything political on Digg and everyone cries "Free speech" "police state"...good god - troprocker, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7The really funny part about this is, it's a county government ... exactly who Paul wants to give more power to! LMAO!

What is Digg?
