- TopJack, on 09/23/2008, -0/+38MSM needs to pick this up immediately. The fact that the Bush-Neocon-McCain mafia would place the lives of soldiers at risk in order to get a campaign boost is not only un-American, evil and shocking, but impeachable.
The U.S. has become a pale and disgusting shadow of the great country it once was under Bush-McCain. - astro370, on 09/23/2008, -0/+35Wow! If this is true, this is beyond irresponsible.. to place all those men and women in peril to help John McCain win an election is disgusting.. That's not country first.
- jsatz23, on 09/23/2008, -0/+27If this is true, it is truly the most disgusting thing Bush has done.
- jsmitchell619, on 09/23/2008, -0/+24This doesn't surprise me at all. They played politics with the Vietnam war as well. Years ago, along with a friend, I was spending my vacation in Palm Springs. The secret service was staying at our motel and we socialized with them. They were there for Spiro Agnew who was VP for Nixon. We had been invited to a party at Bob Hope's house for Spiro Agnew but the day before the party suddenly the secret service were in a flurry to pack and leave. We were told that the Democrats were going to end the war so the Republicans had to get back to Washington to stop them. I was confused and asked my secret service friend why they wouldn't want to end it. He told me that they wanted the American people to think the Republicans ended the war so that's why they had to stop the Democrats. He said that the war was going to end, that it had to end but the Republicans wanted to be the ones to stop it. At the time I kept track of how long it took the Republicans to end the war. It took about 11 months. To this day, I wonder who God sent to Hell for our kids and for the Vietnamese who died during those 11 months. If anything, this mind set is even worse today. Was it Scott McClelland who said they were in a never-ending campaign? Well, its been going on for a very, very long time.
- Olon97, on 09/23/2008, -0/+23Such lip service to Iraq's newly discovered sovereignty.
If a friendly government wants your military forces to leave, you leave. - inactive, on 09/23/2008, -0/+22Is anyone actually surpised by this?
Republicans cannot win on their own merits. Cheating is all they have left. - byranwilson, on 09/23/2008, -0/+20I am not at all surprised that the republicans wanted to politicize this war. McCain is grasping for straws now that it has bee shown that not only does he not understand the economy, he is losing ground on foreign policy as well. Leave it to the republicans to shoot themselves in the foot over Iraq. I am sure this will hit the MSM, perhaps on NBC were they are not afraid to cover the failings of the Bush-McCain policies.
- johnnr2, on 09/23/2008, -0/+18Halliburton First!
- hawkeye17, on 09/23/2008, -0/+18Par for the course. If the last 8 years have taught us anything it's that Bush works for Republicans first and the country when he gets around to it.
- algaeturd, on 09/24/2008, -0/+16Most Failed President in the History of the United States....with the Most Uneducated, Ignorant Supporters in the History of the United States.
See there? I hate being able to say I'm right once in a while. But Jesus Christ, was it REALLY that hard to see that Bush would ***** ruin this country from the inside out?
His administration did WAY more damage to this country than ANY terrorist ever did. That's not my opinion...that's a legitimate fact. - GrandmaSheila, on 09/24/2008, -0/+13These people openly conspire to kill and maim thousands of our people. What is the word for this?
- Joejackal, on 09/24/2008, -0/+13This isn't the first time that Maliki has used a foreign news service broadcast to demonstrate to the Cheney-Bush cabal just how much gratitude he wishes to convey their way. Deservedly so to boot. Rigged elections, lies and slights of hand brought to you by "the end justifies the means" merchants of blood for oil and bailouts for corporations but not homeowners.
- inactive, on 09/23/2008, -0/+11Come on now. This doesn't even hit the top ten.

On October 26, 1955, Diem declared the new Republic of Vietnam, with himself as president.[35] The Republic of Vietnam was created largely because of the Eisenhower administration's desire for an anti-communist state in the region.[36] Colonel Edward Lansdale, a CIA officer, became an important advisor to the new president.
In May, Diem undertook a ten-day state visit to the United States. President Eisenhower pledged his continued support. A parade in New York City was held in his honor. This matched perfectly with the Eisenhower "Containment Policy"
Republicans & Democrats both supported escalating the war, until 1972 when Democrats began forcing Nixon to end the war, even though he vowed to continue.
On January 15, 1973, Nixon announced the suspension of offensive action against North Vietnam. The Paris Peace Accords on "Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam" were signed on January 27, 1973, officially ending direct U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. A cease-fire was declared across North and South Vietnam. U.S. POWs were released. The agreement guaranteed the territorial integrity of Vietnam and, like the Geneva Conference of 1954, called for national elections in the North and South.
An embittered and tearful President Thieu resigned on the same day, declaring that the United States had betrayed South Vietnam. In a scathing attack on the US, he suggested U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger had tricked him into signing the Paris peace agreement two years ago, promising military aid which then failed to materialise.
"At the time of the peace agreement the United States agreed to replace equipment on a one-by-one basis," he said. "But the United States did not keep its word. Is an American's word reliable these days?" He continued, "The United States did not keep its promise to help us fight for freedom and it was in the same fight that the United States lost 50,000 of its young men."
Millions of Vietnamese were killed or reeducated because Nixon cut and run. - homercles337, on 09/24/2008, -0/+3One of the disgusting things Bush has done...
- chrome327, on 09/24/2008, -0/+2Bush works for billionaires first. He's just as happy screwing over the rank & file GOP base. They just haven't caught wise to it.
- kteachums, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1These men are so devious. I can't believe they actually sit at the head of our great country.
I hope on November 4th. we can put this nighmare behind us for good. It's time to stop sending our children to war. The women in America need to stop all of this. - oldhick, on 09/25/2008, -2/+1I'm not sure how your comment contradicts mine, nor what new information you're providing...
- oldhick, on 09/24/2008, -8/+1Cute story. Democrats STARTED the Vietnam war. Democrats escalated the Vietnam war. Democrats NEVER attempted to stop the Vietnam war. Nixon did END the Vietnam war.
But I do like your story.
