Male Episcopal Bishop wants to be a ‘June Bride’
catholic.org — This Bishop is on the forefront of the ongoing schism within the Anglican Communion. He is a self professed practicing homosexual. He is also a part of a cultural revolution being led by activist, practicing homosexuals who not only want to live their lifestyle but force the State and the Church to give them equal status to marriage. Stay Tuned!

- Iconoclast25, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3Y, this turkey roosts somewhere around here. The dimocrap guv and legislature enabled this "gay marriage" farce in the last session. The guv also vetoed a "Castle Doctrine" bill and raised taxes among his other notable achievements. Maybe if they can identify the defective gene which causes homsexuality, they can find the one which causes children's intellectual development to stagnate at the "liberal" level rather than continuing on to develop into rational adults.
- lydecker, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1No, you wouldn't want to make people smarter, it would just make conservatives realize that they don't have a say in how other people live their lives!
- l00s3r, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2The bible is blatantly anti-gay in both the old and new testaments. Christianity is not open to all. Why struggle to be a part of that if you can never really fit in?
Why doesn't he just become a Unitarian?- lydecker, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1Because Christianity is open to interpretation (hence the many denominations), the Bible is often not literal, but allegorical (stories should be taken in context), and Christianity is open to all who believe in Christ (even if many Christians are not).
- SQLDigger, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2The caption sounds a trifle alarmist. The article itself indicates that the bishop only wants to persuade, not force, the church to accept homosexuals.
That being said, the Anglican church (for one example) has pretty strong arguments that homosexual behaviour is a sin, as described in the Bible. They certainly have the right to deny practicing homosexuals communion, and certainly church-sanctioned marriage.
THAT being said, I think church-sanctioned marriage and civil marriage should be two different things. If two guys want to assume the responsibilities and benefits of legal civil partnership that married couples enjoy, why not let them? If they want a church to bless it, on the other hand, I'm sure they can find one that will, but it certainly remains the right of any church to refuse.
